Harvest Time With Media Part Duo

Multimedia Development and Editing take 2… This right is a class that will cause for you to get some act right in your life. I took the lesson from the first take and defiantly applied them to round    two.

My expectations of this class was to gain a better understanding how Multimedia is used on the various platforms. What I discovered was that this class was going to be more than just a knowledge dump, but it would be a combination understanding how to become a storyteller using my own pictures and videos and how to better advertise to appeal to an online audience. This was scary because I’ve never been the complete packaged deal. I was only a content writer and was scared to hear my own voice over anything and was not wanting to personally engage in my own social media accounts because I’m sensitive about my work. Plus to add insult to injury, I have been two years removed from all major social media platforms, so I knew I had an uphill battle to build up followers and readership along the way.

However, as the class continued, I picked up a few nuggets, planted by Professor Jeff. That would yield me a huge harvest if I learn, practice and understand how to use these tools properly. For instance, one nugget was understanding that Adobe Spark is your friend. Also The site is very user friendly and will make anyone look like a star journalist if used the right way. In week 2, when Spark was introduced, I understood the impact I could make telling my story through both pictures and words.  Because I currently work in a communications role, I can actually put these tools to work and create awesome pieces that will speak to my personal brand. Plus technology is constantly changing, programs like Spark and audience are great to know when support corporation leaders who are creating content and need something that is simple but make large statements in a crunch. I was also able to learn from the feedback given to my fellow classmates as well. I think that we were all able to learn from each other, which made a lot of the fun to both share and review.

As I move forward, I hope to grow more out of my comfort-zone and I can’t wait to see how to play with audio editing and filming more. Again these are great tools to add to my toolbox for my profession.
