#HarlemRenaissance poet #LangstonHughes (1901–1967) held friendships with artists across generations and disciplines. He forged connections between creative professionals, encouraged the work of others, and helped build a larger network of Black creatives and intellectuals responding to, and shaping, the current events of the time. One friendship began in the classroom at Atlanta University when #photojournalist Griffith Davis (1923–1993) was a student and Hughes a visiting professor.

In this exhibition, Griff Davis’s photography is complemented by archival material from the Schomburg Center’s collections and letters reflecting decades of personal correspondence.

This exhibition marks a significant and momentous milestone, commemorating the auspicious 20th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This remarkable, culturally rich event promises not only to celebrate but also to illuminate the immense wealth and extraordinary diversity of intangible cultural heritage. This heritage, meticulously preserved and lovingly passed down through generations, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of human culture and tradition.   A Visual Celebration Running from September 14th to September 27th, 2023, the exhibition stands as a visually arresting tribute to the kaleidoscope of intangible cultural heritage. During this time, it will unveil a captivating collection of evocative photographic masterpieces and vivid visual narratives, delving deep into the heart of cultural traditions, craftsmanship, rituals, and vibrant festivals. Through these lens-captured moments, the exhibition intends to unveil and celebrate the abundant cultural diversity embraced within the framework of the Convention.  

A Journey in Three Parts

The exhibition is thoughtfully organized into three distinct and enriching sections. To begin with, it provides a comprehensive introduction to the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH). In this initial section, visitors not only explore the rich tapestry of traditions but also gain profound insights into the immense significance of preserving these unique cultural legacies. Subsequently, the exhibition seamlessly transitions into a broader panorama, delving into the World's Cultural and Natural Heritage. Here, it skillfully connects the intricate tapestry of intangible heritage to tangible landmarks, creating a vivid and compelling narrative of cultural continuity that captivates the audience. In its culminating section, the exhibition gracefully and purposefully turns its spotlight to shine brightly on the invaluable contributions of Central Asian countries. This captivating and poignant finale pays heartfelt homage to the elements that have rightfully earned their place in the esteemed Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, casting a brilliant spotlight on the enduring and remarkably rich cultural legacy that defines the region.   Marking the Opening Mark your calendars for September 14th at 4:00 PM, as it heralds the official inauguration of this exceptional exhibition. 5月31日（水）より、PARK GALLERY ２階にて、写真家・間峠武蔵による個展『ハロー、グッドバイ』を行います。この展示は北千住のオルタナティブギャラリー PUNIO で開催された同タイトルの作品を一部入れ替えて実施される巡回展です。 日曜日の昼下がりに北千住に赴き、壁に飾られた展示写真を眺めていると、出会いと別れにはそれぞれの思いに応じた重さがあるなと気づきました。別れ際なはずなのにまるで「ハロー」と語りかけてくる写真もあれば、もう２度と会えないだろうと感じさせる写真の「さようなら」の重さは違うのではないか、と。 日々を楽しみながら精一杯生きることのエネルギーや、日常の光と影の美しさや儚さを写真とその空間で見事に表現した PUNIO での個展とは少し趣きを変えて、PARK GALLERY ではその時に感じた「さようならの重さ（あるいはある種の軽さ）」にフォーカスしてみました。繰り返される出会いと別れの切実さだけではなく、それがずっと続いていくことの刹那。その上で成り立つ「いま」。 写真は時に雄弁で、時に寡黙です。置かれた環境や、切���取り方でも見え方は変わっていきます。きっと PUNIO で見たはずの写真も、少し違って見えるはずです。 間峠武蔵というひとりの写真家の「写真」という表現とじっくり向き合いながら、日々の出会いと別れを感じて、ゆっくり楽しんでもらえたら幸いです。 PARK GALLERY 加藤淳也 —– 写真家・間峠武蔵 個展 『ハロー、グッドバイ。』 2023年5月31日（水）～6月11日（日） 場所：PARK GALLERY 2F 東京都千代田区外神田3-5-20 ＜入場無料＞ 営業時間：13時〜20時 定休日：月・火曜 最寄駅：東京メトロ 銀座線・末広町駅（徒歩約5分）千代田線・湯島駅（徒歩約7分） JR 秋葉原駅 / 電気街口（徒歩約10分） JR 御茶ノ水駅 / 聖橋口（徒歩約12分） —– 間峠武蔵（まとうげ・むさし） 1998年千葉県産まれ。大学在学中に写真に興味を持ち、20歳の誕生日に父親から譲り受けたフィルムカメラをきっかけに本格的に活動を開始。2020年、大学在学中に PARK GALLERY にて個展「窓辺」を開催。2023年、PUNIO（北千住）にて個展「ハロー、グッドバイ。」を開催。 https://www.instagram.com/i.am.634
