an au I thought up of where Cale does actually decide to run away and helps the roan Kingdom from the shadows and stuff-

It'd be funny if Cale just slapped all of the information from the five novels he read into a stack of paper and sent it to Alberu, his reasoning being "I don't wanna do shit, you deal with the war(s) :D" you could also have a moment where Cale sends another letter basically saying "your current commanders are shit not bad but could be better, have some war strategies (If you don't send me money for this I'll break into your office and move everything two inches to the left)"

Before running away, he collects enough allowance from Deruth to last him a while, gets the shield ancient power, and he gains the trust of the cats so they follow him. On the night that he's supposed to meet Choi han, Cale gives him something (a sandwich?) he bought earlier to eat and directs him towards the Henituse mansion with a letter that was mostly prepared beforehand so the guards (and Ron) let him in.

Cale saves the dragon with the rented devices from billos with a bit more difficulty (and injuries) but he manages to free him anyways.

Then he begins to head towards the capital (because as much as he'd like to go to the ubar territory, there's a chance amiru could see him-) and plans to stay there for a while before the plaza terror incident. He takes the healing ancient power, gives advice to Taylor while doing his best to avoid him and cage, and unofficially officially adopts the dragon into his party. Not exactly in that order but oh well-

Ron and Beacrox are mighty suspicious of Choi han because he's brought a letter that was obviously from their young master but without the young master. And shit gets worse when Cale doesn't come back home that night-

Choi han gets interrogated, fights Ron (only a lil), and sets out to find the person that helped him in his time of intense despair, memories of the kind stranger feeding the cats and handing him something to eat when he hadn't eaten anything in two days(Choi han).

He feels grateful, and chooses to ignore the rumors about a "drunk, trashy young master" because the person who helped him and the person from the rumors seem like completely different people. (Later, when he finds the redhead, he'll notice that he was, infact, completely correct.)

Ron and Beacrox join him because he smells like the organization that attacked their family and because Choi han is, unfortunately, the only lead they have on finding the young master that they took care of.

When they eventually find cale (new additions including lock and Rosalyn, yay) Choi han is deadset on repaying his meal and the help they received during the plaza terror incident

This Choi han is a tad more mentally unstable and latches onto the only source of somewhat warmth he's received since Harris village-

Ron is being a dad in the background and scolding Cale for not telling them his plan of running away and Beacrox is looking disapprovingly at the fact that the young master has gotten skinnier-

(Alberu is shooketh in the background because that letter he got detailing the bombing and a few other things days ago actually came true and is this person an ally or a threat-)

I like this scene because when I was writing it I was thinking about how fun everything would be once Alberu joins the party ahaha

This poor guy will not only have to deal with Regressor Cale, but Regressor Choi Han AND Kim Roksoo. Those three will never let the opportunity to tease Alberu slip by. Also I find this one scene really funny because Alberu is absolutely thinking to himself ‘what the hell was that’ when he made eye contact with Cale, the young master of the Henituse family who is famous for his brutal honesty and words, is smiling at him in a way that reminded Alberu too much of himself.

Realistically, there should be no way the young master knows anything about him, not when they had only exchanged a few greetings in passing. Sure, the Henituse county was rich, but they had no reason to dig for information on him unless he provoked them. So why did it feel like Cale Henituse knew something very important about him?

“Cale woke up to listen to a message that Alberu had left him. He did not pick up the call last night because Alberu had called in the middle of the night.

– Just what the hell have you been doing?

Alberu’s voice sounded quite chaotic.

– Why does Commander Toonka call you his friend? Why are you the hero of the Jungle? Even one of the Breck Kingdom’s princes was asking about you and his sister. Everybody stealthily came over to ask about you before leaving. You’re driving me crazy.”

I like to think that the others underestimate Cale's ( Not Rok Soo's because they've already been traumatized enough, that man needed constant supervision because he just won't stay still) insane creativity at being self-destructive, like I can't find the right words to describe it but Cale, at least in your story, had this air around him that seems like his careful, that they can trust him he won't get hurt, that at least they can trust him with his health because look, he's exercising so that he would be healthy, unlike Rok Soo who would rather skillfully neglect himself until he's nothing but skin and bones, at least we won't have to worry that he'll overwork himself till he faints like a certain someone-

Then BAM-

He just run headfirst into what most likely is his impending doom, fearlessly flirting through unnecessary dangers and throwing himself into certain death and oh- This one isn't different at all, if anything he's worse.

Because at least with Rok Soo, he isn't alone. He'll take Choi Han with him, he had the children with him, he'll bring companions with him when he's feeling like butting in with somebody else's business but this one however, he goes into his suicidal missions by himself, with only his wit and overly destructive powers alone like the crazy bastard that he is.

While I was reading through your story, the chat with Xavian stuck in my head like glue, because to me, it just seemed to be hinting about Cale's personality, that he won't drag others into his mess for their safety, that while he can ask for help he won't because he can't endanger them. I've always felt like the difference between Rok Soo and Cale is that Rok Soo is willing to accept help if it means it'll lighten the burden and finish the job faster while Cale just simply draw the line earky on and do it himself, even if it means it's slow-going.

This rant could be just a bunch of nonsense my brain spits out but I really want this out because I just really love your story, and I enjoy making my own theories about what that and this means, overcomplicating things is my specialty, so hope you won't mind!

Also, I pray for the Alberu in your story because now, he had two crazy bastards as his sworn brothers, it's double the headache. They'll most likely drive him crazy! Poor guy...

No it's not a bunch of nonsense and I like reading theories and deep anylsis on some parts anyone could overlook, please come share your thoughts often lol, and you're right in this, Cale in my story is even worse than Rok Soo. He has this habit where he separates general goal from personal, even if he has his team members let's say, he would only contact and ask them to do something for a mission if it's for their job or something they all aim for, but if it's something he alone is aiming for then he would rather do it by himself than ask their help because it's about him alone so why drag others and most possibly get hurt for his sake?

It's not like he likes to put himself in danger but it's just his past traumas that makes him prefer going around all alone and usually comes out of it unscathed or alive at least.

If his team members insist on helping he would accept it eventually, however not the case with others, he would accept from Rok Soo if not for Choi Han and others surrounding him who could go insane should anything happen to their dear person, he can't trust them not go crazy mad against him even if they are being nice and friendly with him now. Past experiences, again. So if his team members were with him currently in the story the situation would be so different. It all depends on the people around him and how they make him feel and how much they are willing to offer.

And I'm honestly amazed someone remembers Xavian, I'd like to thank you lol

And Cale here is the one driving both Alver and Rok Soo crazy lmao but to be fair, Alver started trouble first this time so he has only himself to blame

Black Rock anons really out here making me go back to my Descendants phase lol I can imagine them raiding poor Alberu's castle and doing this because Reader was bored one day and wanted to recreate it or something. Half-Blood is a bit reluctant to do it, he is not looking forward to the mess that it will cause. White Star is also reluctant but because "I have an image to keep". Red Dragon on the other hand just wants to spend more time with Reader. rip prince Alberu while Cale just laughs at him from the sidelines (bet he was the one that let them in)

“Alberu” or “Alver”!??!?!

Okay, let’s talk about this calmly and rationally...

*fandom war in the background*

“Alberu Crossman” is apparently the first - unofficial - English translation for this character’s name. I assume (since I don’t know Korean) that the confusion stems from “b” sounding siminal to “v” for many Asian languages, and the “u” at the end is a subtle “half-sound” that could either be treated as silent or not, depending on context.

(Which kind of reminds me of “Ishbal” vs “Ishval” debate for “Fullmetal Alchemist” manga translation. The first anime adaptation (2003 version) used “Ishbal” for the English dub. The second one (Brotherhood) used “Ishval”. I came into the fandom after Brotherhood was released so I got used to “Ishval” and I never used “Ishbal”, but I imagine it was difficult for many fans to get used to the change. But since the author apparently has at least some knowledge of English - considering she named her protagonist “Edward” - I believe she was the person who wanted “Ishval” to be the final official translation, and the earlier version was an error.)

However, lets put those issues aside for a second. Just for a moment, forget what you’re used to. Forget which one is more “language-accurate”. Forget even which one is the version the author allegedly “intended”.

My question is this: which one do you think sounds better? Which one fits better for the character?

(Slight Spoiler Alert!)

Not gonna lie: “Alberu” has a certain charm to it. It sounds exotic - not in an “Asian” way, but in a “fantasy” way. Kind of like “Eruhaben”. It sounds like a name from a fairy tale land. It was kind of my first clue on his secret identity as a part-Dark Elf. Unlike European-sounding names such as “Cale”, “Eric” or “Hilsman”, his name was a hint that a foreigner named him (as his mother was from a different country AND a half-Dark Elf), and an allusion to his hidden heritage.

One the other hand, “Alver” does have an actual meaning, and it’s hilariously ironic - even cruel, if you consider the context. Apparently it means “white”. If Zed Crossman gave him that name, knowing fully well that he was quarter-Dark Elf, then that’s just racist! “You better turn out WHITE or ELSE, son!” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Every single living being has dignity. It's a thing that everyone is born with. We are the ones who can hold and decide what we want to do with that dignity. Some strengthen it, some get lost in it. There are even some people who lose it in exchange for degeneracy.

But what about those who are stripped off of it? What does dignity mean to them?

That’s a question you ask yourself often nowadays. A question that you surely wouldn’t be able to ponder on when you were still back with the White Star. The question didn’t stem out of nowhere. You started questioning everything a few days after you reunited with your hyung and got officially adopted by the crown prince, oh you should really start calling him appa now.

A few days after everything settled, the lessons and training that every royal has to go through started. Yours is a bit more special since you have a dragon teacher. At first it confused you. Why is Goldie Gramps, the only name you know because that’s how Raon introduced him, one of your teachers when you’re supposed to be learning etiquette?

It was that day you learned what you really reincarnated as. Everything started to make more sense. Reason why White Star was so meticulous when it came to you, why they kept insisting that you’re the only one they can use for the mana and black mana fusion thing they wanted, why they kept whispering and researching about how to not make you ‘grow’. Things you didn’t understand back then you can now comprehend.

Of course that didn’t stop your poor brain from overheating from the information that they loaded in you. Luckily Cale-hyung knew it would happen and went with Eruhaben, who he formally introduced to you since he doubts Raon would.

Now that brings us to the predicament you’re in.

Existential crisis started seeping in from every bit of your being.

You’re a dragon. A great and mighty dragon as Raon-hyung, how he insisted you call him, taught you. You’re supposed to be someone who has a lot of pride and dignity, someone who’s supposed to be proud of yourself.

Someone who's suppose to be majestic just by merely existing.

However you aren’t anything like that. Maybe you being human in your previous life was to blame. Maybe the trauma you accumulated back in that ruined world was the reason. Maybe you can even shift blame to White Star and his actions.

None of that matters though. Because no matter how hard you think about it, it still results in you crying in your soft pillows in the middle of the night. Weeping silently inside your lavish room that you previously thought was a mere guestroom.

You opted crying when no one could hear you. Wanting to show everyone that you’re moving forward made you do so. Mentality that you can’t show any weakness slowly eating you alive as you suffer every night.

Inside you know that it’s safe now. You may not be with your beloved hyung but your new appa isn’t so bad either. He guides you in every step of the way. Provides you everything you want and need. He even told you the secret of his lineage and let you meet his dark elf relatives, something that resulted in you being greatly confused because these beautiful creatures seem to praise your every breath.

Still even with how prominent Alberu’s care and protection is, you still didn’t allow yourself to be weak. There’s a lot of nobles that are against the crown prince’s decision and that fact didn’t go past you.

Okay maybe you will admit to yourself that all of this is just excuses. All of the reasons that you pile on top of one another are just you being in denial that you're traumatized. Because you don’t want to be seen as weak, especially after hearing how common people praise the names of your guardians and the others associated with them.

But no matter how hard you try to put on a facade, someone was bound to notice. Someone that knows you probably better than yourself and someone who knows too well what it looks like to hide something. Both of their parental instincts nagged them before their observation skills even caught on.

Hence the reason why both of them are by your side right now, busy schedules be damned. Kingdom, continent, world, even the entire universe doesn’t matter. All Cale and Alberu wanted was for you to lean on them. Know that there’s people that will help, there’s people that will grab you if you just reach your hand out.

Reach your hand out was what you did. On that day no one bothered the three of you as you spilled your heart out, more than you did when you reunited with your hyung. No one judges you as you tell them the things you’ve been thinking, detrimental thoughts and nightmares that ate you alive every night.

“No one will ever hold it against you for acting like a child, because you are one.”

“Healing isn’t something that you can force, it also isn’t something that comes overnight”

Meaningful words of consolation from the two finally reached you. Perhaps you can’t still fully grasp the meaning behind them but don’t worry they’ll be with you at every step of the way until you fully understand their intentions.

After that day they seemed to be more attentive when it comes to you. Alberu always makes time out of his busy schedule to spend with you, Cale also deliberately causes trouble to keep his sworn brother busy so he can steal you away. It doesn’t help that Raon has a knack of suddenly appearing and teleporting you away so the two of you can roam around the marketplace, of course everything you buy is on the palace's tab.

Everyone took it upon themselves to simply give you the liberty to act like the child you are. Give you the childhood you missed in both of the lives you’ve lived. Sure you ‘paid for your meals’ but Cale and Alberu never made their people do something they know their people can’t handle.

Surely the love and affection you received from everyone amounted to something. You started showing what you’re really like, the you that Cale and Choi Han know, the latter knowing thanks to a certain descendant's memories. You started being more open and vulnerable with them, you even started being more cheeky.

Poor Alberu can only curse and get agitated at his instructor and sworn brother for not informing him just how playful you are. To which the two just laughed at him with the red head saying.

“Where’s the fun if you knew?”

One of your quirks seems to be you quickly jumping into absurd conclusions that no one knows where you got from.

Like that one time where you woke up in the middle of the night so you went to your appa’s room to sleep beside him. What you weren’t expecting though, was for your dad to be wide awake and talking to a communication device.

“Appa why are you awake? Oh you’re talking to Rok- uh Cale-hyung, are you courting each other or something? Should I start calling hyung appa too?”

Alberu should’ve been happy that you finally called him appa. He would’ve found how you were draped in a blanket while hugging one of the stuffies he gave you cute if it weren’t for the next words that came out of your mouth. So instead the poor overworked man nearly choked on his tea while the man on the other side of the orb can only sigh in exasperation.

Most of the time Alberu can’t help but think that he adopted a mini Cale. How can he not think that way when your personality is so like his dongsaeng. From the way you like novels to you always insisting that slacking off is the best to even your impressive smarts, it’s just so Cale like. When he brought this up one time to Cale the man just shrugged his shoulders, but Alberu could clearly see the way the corner of the red head’s mouth went up a bit.
