Amy: Oo! Um, I- I don't know... I get Shadow little things, or I'll do little things. Like, we swap paying for each other's lunch, or boba when we go out for boba. They've kinda ended up with a collection of chao-themed trinkets because I know they like chao so much and I like getting gifts for people...

Shadow: They have a shelf.

Amy: Really?

Shadow: ...Let me rephrase: they have a shelf when Rosie isn't playing with them.

Amy: Aw, good! I- I was kinda worried you were getting bored of them.

Shadow: Never.

Amy: That's really sweet actually. And good- I was eyeballing this mug for you. It's a dark chao head, and the little spike ball is inside the mug, and the wings make the handle, and it makes the same face that Rosie does when she wants something.

Shadow: That... sounds adorable.

Amy: ISN'T IT? (✧∀✧)

Shadow: How did you even come across it? I can never find dark chao anywhere.

Amy: I have my ways. (^.~)☆

Shadow: Of course you do.

Amy: Okay, wait, now I'm curious. If not concert tickets, what would you get me?

*Shadow cannot maintain eye contact*

Amy: Oh come on...

Shadow: (-_-;)

Shadow: I don't *need* to do a damn thing. I *choose* to, and I *choose* to make sure that you get a gift you actually want.

Amy: ... First time I use it, you're gonna get so much pasta you won't know what to do with it all.

🧠 Pick a character (Shadow and Amy), and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

Hmmmm.

Amy: My favorite is the "Amy is part echidna" headcanon but I've gone into more than enough depth on that.

I do like the headcanon that @ppeachx3 has that Amy's home life pre Sonic and Co isn't a happy one. There's too much evidence for her having some serious abandonment issues (that Sonic + co make worse, sometimes).

With that headcanon, Amy being as loving and sympathetic and almost naive as she is makes a lot of sense. Of course she's going to reach out first to everyone, of course she's going to wait for others to catch up. She's been the person falling behind and she clearly hated it. She is just so full of love ans directs it at the people who need it (like shadow for example)

Shadow: @w0lp3rtinger has a headcanon that has just burrowed into my skull ans won't get out.

That Shadow didn't really know Maria at all. That everything he remembers are fragments of her memories ans his, manipulated by Gerald and by his own wishful thinking.

This headcanon physically hurts me in the best way. They have a much better post explaining it somewhere on this website.

Now for some bonus stupid ones:

Amy can do any kind of fiber craft you can imagine. Knitting , crochet, needlepoint etc etc. She can make lace.

Shadow has chao flock to him easily because he's emanating so much chaos energy they think he's one of them. Or at least something akin to them.

Favorite Shadamy fanfic you've read?

It’s too close to call between “If the Glove Fits...” by ppeachx3 [see this post I made ranting about it] and “The Oxymoron” by KazunaPikachu [see the end of this post.] They’re both wonderful!

I have a tag for fic recs, though I’ve never properly organized it. It’s amazing how many great shadamy fics there are given how little interaction they get. Really says a lot about the ship, doesn’t it?

It’s, of course, completely and utterly absurd, but there’s this thing Amy does – this tiny, inexplicable thing where she laughs into her hands rather than out loud anytime her voice reaches a pitch above a giggle – and it actively drives Shadow insane.

After all, Amy has never been one to restrain herself. Between spine-crushing hugs and paragraphs of unwarranted, motivational praise, the pink hedgehog has always been the type to put everything she has to offer into the world around her.

Everything, it seems, but her laughter.

Shadow’s stomach churns longingly.

He wants to see it.

“You know, I’ve never been in a used bookstore before,” Amy says with eyes that could pale the sun. Keeping her hands neatly clasped behind her back, she smiles and tilts her head up at the leather-bound spines far out of reach. “It’s nice. We should totally make this our regular thing.”

Desperate to subdue the giddy beginnings of a laugh tickling his throat, Shadow swallows and pulls a book off the nearest shelf – a Shakespearean title, its pages yellowed with age. He thumbs his way through it in less than half a second before slipping it back into place and doing the same with another, then three more. Amy looks over at him.

“Speed reading?” she teases.

“I think you might have seasonal depression,” Rouge says.

“No, really? What gives you that idea?” Shadow grumbles from deep beneath the pile of blankets. There are a couple of old sweaters and pants thrown over him as well, the byproduct of being too tired to shed his clothes into the laundry basket like a proper member of society. “I thought maybe I was just going through a phase.”
