Hola Friday! Wooohoooo! Just look at the strain in that thumb! Another eleventy million made but I’m pleased to say most of your face covering orders are now ready and I’m busy wrapping up today so expect a message soon! .... then I’m making more..... Yes today is all about the face coverings. Just look at my new stash of gorgeous fabric though from @stashed.online It’s super soft cotton from @dashwoodstudio and @michellecorbindesign @makoweruk and @artgalleryfabrics I’m looking forward to using them for the linings in my bags too. They’re beautiful to work with. So yesterday we had thunderstorms and I loved it, all tucked up in my cabin. Looking forward to a calmer few weeks now work wise with more swimming in the sea! If you have to wear a mask it might as well be pretty. 🌸 I looked at several patterns and settled on one from JoAnn Fabrics with a few modifications. 😷 I changed the elastic straps from over the ear to over the head for a tighter fit. I also added a pipe cleaner to the top so it fits closer to my face. Finally, I added a filter pocket. Our Sheriff Woody 🤠 inspired fabric has been a long standing member of the fabric line up. Face masks need to go through 3 stages before they are ready to send. 😷 . 1. The front and back are sewn along the top and bottom edges, pinked then turned out. ✂️ . 2. Pressing. The newly pinked edges are folded in and each mask is pressed into its pleated shape. 🥌 (this is the closest thing to an iron I could find 😅) . 3. The elastic is sewn in. We have two size options so you can imagine how many variations this creates. Either a complimenting or contrasting thread colour is selected to finish the item down each edge. 🧵 .
