Why do so many KP/LITA crossovers focus on the 'Phayu is Vegas' son' au and not the 'Phayu seeks out a more experienced dom when Rain starts showing interests in kinks Phayu is not familiar with, all of Phayu's kink acquaintances point him to Vegas, a well established dom with lots of experience with more intense kinks. Vegas is just tickled that his brand of dominance is so well known that a younger dom seeks him out and agrees to take Phayu on as mentee. (Can't get this idea out of my head)

Phayu is taking a slow sip of his drink as a man, slightly older than him, approaches the table. Phayu stands and wais. "You must be Vegas?"

"My reputation proceeds me." He has an angular face, sharp cheek bones, but a gentle smile as he wais back. "But I've been told my reputation is why you contacted me."

Phayu takes his seat again. He's a little intimidated by a dom like Vegas Theerapanyakul, someone with enough experience to be known, rather prominently, in their lifestyle. "You're a professional dom?"

"Retired." Vegas says with a shrug. "I have only one pet these days." The way he says it sounds like he's enjoying retirement.

But Phayu is hung up on the word 'pet'. He's never referred to Rain as his pet, but the title isn't unappealing. "Well you came highly recommended from everyone I asked. I..." Phayu hesitates. "My sub is asking about kinks I don't have experience with."

Rain had been so sweet and curious when they met last year, but Phayu is partially to blame for awakening Rain's inner brat. The way Rain's eyes roll back when Phayu barely touches his throat is a sight he will never forget.

"I have experience in..." Vegas hesitates as he thinks, lips pursed for just a moment, "all of them, I think? At least the big ones. I can't remember the last time I came across a kink that both Pete and I were unfamiliar with."

Phayu knows that name too, Pete is just as infamous as Vegas in some clubs. "Your sub?"

"And my partner." Vegas corrects in a way that makes Phayu smile. "He has just as much experience in the scene that I do. Maybe more."

Phayu has never has a sub as experienced as he is, but he hasn't had a reason to try more intense kinks before now. "Rain is my partner. He's" a brat "new to kinks in general. I'm his first dom." Phayu has the sudden urge to stress how much he understand the responsibility he has to Rain. "He looks to me for a lot of guidance. I want to make sure I do well by him."

Vegas grins and it's a little less friendly and a little more feral. "Perhaps my Pete and your Rain would enjoy a play date."

I have finally figured out why i love watching the first part of love in the air so much. 'Cause to me it's so obvious for the second part- Pai and Sky are everything i love in a (fictional) couple: green flags all around, a main character that's intelligent and self aware, the banter and quick witted dynamic between him and Pai, enough hurt comfort to feed my starved little soul, just the right amount of angst-fluff balance...

And yet i rewatch LITA's first part way more- and yes, the lighter content certainly has something to do with it. But more than anything it's because Rain as a person embodies so much of what i am scared and ashamed of being. He's goofy and impulsive and sometimes even flat out dumb (despite actually being quite capable and intelligent). When he sees something he wants, he goes for it! He's motivated and hard working. He makes mistakes and learns from them without making himself feel worthless, he's sweet and caring and dives in head first where others would stop and think. Yes, sometimes that ends bad for him, yes he has SO much to learn. But isn't being able to do that so refreshing? As a person who overthinks everything and is deadly afraid of making any type of mistake, yet also a young person who's growing and discovering how to exist, Rain is all those qualities I have but desperately try to hide out of shame- and he's loved for it. By Payu, who's more responsible and stable and able to support Rain, because that's what you do when you love eachother. Payu, who is very close to an ideal partner to me.

It's incredebly comforting to see such a reflection of yourself- the part that you're always trying to hide- be loved in such a way.
