I see a lot of the Patrick/Ivan fans are sad, angry, heartbroken, you name it. And I feel you- my fav Elite canon ship did not end up together either. Then I started thinking and realized: This show is really not in the business of happily ever after. Hardly anyone we see in a relationship at some point leaves the show with said relationship intact. Once I obsess over sth, I can't let it go, so below you find all Elite relationships and whether the people involved were still together the LAST TIME we see them on the show.

The list goes chronologically by season the relationship started. Only canon, only people who could charitably be described as having a semi-longterm thing (sorry, Val/Rebe, drunk attempted hook-ups don't count), leaving out the abusers. If I forgot anyone, lmk. For the purpose of this, I'm assuming that the s6 finale was the last time we've seen the Blanco siblings.

Thoughts while watching Elite - Season 5

After episode 1:

So, here I am again, watching season 5 of a show that should’ve ended after season 3. But one of my main criticism of season 4 - that there is no fucking excuse for it to even exist - doesn’t matter with season 5 anymore now. The bullshit already happened, so we can just go on with it.

So are they doing the mystery thing again, but in a soft version, or what? At least there was no implied murder or disappearence yet. But why make flashforwards then? Is it just an Elite tradition to show future Samu talking to a cop? At some point I was even confused whether we were in the future or in present time. There is no built up and it’s far from being exciting.

Ahh, I missed Samu. He’s so funny. Like, unintentionally funny, I guess. But the faces he makes... Gotta love him. The only thing that still feels like Elite.

The concept of building a storyline around the aftermath of a murder without having the murderer in it is just so random. I miss Guzman, but I’m also glad that his character can’t be fucked with by the writers even more.

Omar is the mom friend now and should just leave and stop all contact to these people who don’t appreciate him. Boy, you deserve better.

Glad that Patrick still doesn’t have a personality outside of being gay and sexual and fighting with his Dad about it.

His Dad should just piss off, I’m annoyyyyeeeeddd.

The story with Caye and Phillipe manages to be interesting and super boring at the same time.

As always, I don’t care about the new characters - yet?

After episode 2:

Now the flashforwards really confuse and annoy me. Rebe and Samu are talking about Armando’s murder, aren’t they? If that’s the case and no other mystery murder happens, it’s just so stupid that it’s written as if the viewer didn’t know who is the murderer yet. Why pretend it’s a mystery when everyone knows the solution, it’s so frustrating to watch.

Benjamin. Fuck Benjamin. I hate how he blurres the lines between the personal lifes of the students and their educational ones.

Phillipe is really written to be hated, seriously. Fuck him, too.

Caye deserves better.

I still don’t care about Ivan and Patrick and shit.

This party, oh my god. I had fun watching it, but it was so exaggerated and over the top and extreme. Chill, kids. Nonetheless, like I said, I enjoyed these scenes.

Probably every character now had a scene making out with a person of the same gender and I love it.

After episode 3;

So is the mystery about Armando or not?

I love how among the votes on who gets expelled there was some random person named Elena in the fourth place sdfghjhgfdf. 

The whole thing was so messed up, obviously.

My favourite part of the episode was Patrick getting excited over that movie. Like, did he really show an interest outside of dating? Whaaaaat.

I liked Samu’s daddy issues monologue.

Rebe is in the right for dumping Mencia, I think. You can tell that her indecisive behaviour was really toxic for Rebe, and I’m glad that she decided to get herself out of there.

After episode 4:

Does ... Patrick ... actually get character development? Crazy. I’m here for it. But why is he now making out with Cruz?? He needs a friend, not an affair with the father of his former crush. This is so wrong.

When will these characters stop cheating on one another? Fuck you, Ari. She doesn’t even try to understand Samu, although he tried to explain himself last episode.

Benjamin must be destroyed.

I just don’t care about Phillipe and Isadora, whether he changes or not. He’s an asshole and she supports him non-stop for whatever reason. It’s not even explained. Can’t they just piss off together and leave Caye and also me as a viewer alone?

Dead Samu in a pool?! I am not okay with this.

After episode 5:

I’m a little bit more interested in Isadora’s storyline now, but merely because I have a soft spot for storylines about lonely rich kids being drug addicted. I’m still suprised that she is the first character in the show to have that kind of arc.

That sex scene with Ivan and Patrick was unnecessary long lmao.

The appearence of the guy Caye knows from the past is so random.

Good old Samu is getting arrested. Classic Elite.

Liked the ending with Mencia overhearing Omar and Rebe. That is classic Elite.

After episode 6:

The storyline with Patrick, Cruz, Ivan and Ari is fucked up on so many levels.

It feels like Benjamin is meant to be this ambiguous, multidimensional character, but he slowly turns into a downright villain.

So now they're going full on mystery and I'm supposed to wonder why or if Patrick killed Samu? Okay. At least they try making the last episodes interesting. But it's so sad to compare this to how season 1 was built up.

I really don't like Ari and I also start thinking she has a severe alcohol problem.

Still don't care about Caye's new dude. Why aren't these characters able to have normal friendships by the way? It's always about dating and weird love triangles.

Speaking of love triangles, the show has so many seemingly polyamorous characters now (Ari, Ivan)? I mean, I don't mind that, I just find it weird that it's not addressed (like with Polo, remember him?), that there are no internal or external coming out moments.

I just don't ship Mencia and Rebe anymore. I want to and I probably could but their arc was so harmful until now ... sigh.

After episode 7:

Each new season the new characters (in this case I'm referring to Ivan) get sucked into the mess of the protagonists until they're totally broken emotionally, rip.

There's a wave of Ari hate coming over me. She looked mostly happy while hearing Ivan's message, like, wtf, that's nothing you'd want anyone to say about you, do you?

I liked Patrick's emotional outburst.

His relationship with Cruz ain't right, how old is he even, 17? And he doesn't get why Cruz is hesitant??

No no no no no, I don't want this to happen to Isadora (or anyone!). I had a feeling this would happen and I am really not okay.

I'm curious if Phillipe is going to intervene to show that he's "changed".

Fuck him if he doesn't. Same counts for Ivan.

After episode 8:

Oh my gooood. The ending was intense, okay? The rest of the season was super average, messy and/or boring, but the last scenes were really nice.

So Benjamin’s storyline was a downfall into evil all along. It was very satisfying when Rebe punched him and when he got arrested.

The mixed feelings of loyality that his children experienced and expressed throughout the season were an interesting dynamnic.

When Samu fell I was so heavily reminded of season 1 and I liked that, because sometimes I forgot that the whole Marina arc was even part of the same show.

It’s weird how in the end the focus was more on whether Benjamin has to go to jail for his shady deals than on the murder of Armando. I mean, everyone was always like “Samu is innocent”, so we’ll just forget that he and Rebe covered up a murder by dumping the corpse into a lake?

The foreshadowing / metaphor of “a storm is coming” was so cheap lmao.

I just really didn’t care about the whole Ivan, Cruz and Patrick mess anymore. Not that I ever really did. I did like some character developments of Patrick this season, but that storyline was just so annoying.

Generally, the complex - or rather: chaotic - emotional dynamics are so much in this show, I’m glad that I don’t have to live in that world. It would be so emotionally exhausting lmao. Even from an outside perspective it was difficult to keep track.

Isa’s story was kinda interesting, but also dealt with very superficially and it ended to abruptly. It probably would have needed more episodes.

Can’t blame Phillipe (and Ivan) for passing out, but is he really framed as a good guy again now? i don’t know. But props to him that he supported Isa, I guess.

Not sure if Samu is really dead. I guess it depends on whether the actor agreed to be in season 6 and I didn’t research that, sorry.

Season 5 was messy, disorganized, unnecessary and boring, but it did have some cool moments and I’m mentally invested these characters, which is why I kept and will keep watching.

Elite for the fandom ask game (i have a one-track mind 🤪)

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Caye? This feels obvious but I actually liked her a lot in s2/s4 (and then s5 kind of just threw her under the bus again…)

The character everyone else loves that I don't: Nadia — she didn’t have a personality past s1

The character I love that everyone else hates: Lu to an extent? Depending on what corner of the internet you hang out in

The character I used to love but don't any longer: Guzman. I loved him when he was an unapologetic asshole, before he briefly became all ~nice to be with Nadia. (Everyone is like ‘s4 Guzman doesn’t exist to me!!!’ but that was literally the true Guzman lol s3 is the outlier)

The character I would totally smooch: I mean lets be honest, most of them? The cast is literally the most attractive group of people I’ve ever seen! Rebeka I guess?

The character I'd want to be like: Gonna go with Rebeka again because she’s one of the only people on the show who seems to have any sort of moral conscience

The character I'd slap: Samuel

A pairing that I love: Lu/Rebe? Also s1 honorary mention for Carla/Polo

A pairing that I despise: I don’t ‘despise’ them but Mencia/Rebe was stupid af and neither Carla/Samu nor Nadia/Guzman made any sense to me
