Lynn Fainchtein, the og Elite’s music supervisor, passed away this month at only 61. She was great at what she did, so let’s remember some of Elite’s best music moments.

3. I hear the day has come – Matt Maltese. It first plays over Marina‘s death scene in the season one finale when Nano comes to find her in the pool, and she collapses in his arms. As if that wasn’t sad enough, it’s repeated in season two, when Nano feels he has lost everything and is crumbling the picture of him and his family before he leaves town in the pouring rain. The parallels!

2. Hey Moon - John Maus. Lu and Val and their 🔥🔥🔥 chemistry coming back from the party in the season two premiere, ending the night on the pool table. Need I say more (I need not). Both Danna and Jorge said that this was their favorite scene filmed before season three.

1. Los dias raros - Vetusta Morla. The montage at the end of 2x07. My favorite Elite musical moment, no contest, and potentially my favorite moment in the show period. Yes, it has Lu finally giving in to Val after she has basically burned everything to the ground with her speech at the fake charity gala. But there is so much more in this scene, too, so many emotions. If nothing in this montage touched you, are you even alive?

Books of 2023. ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE by Gabriel García Márquez.

Currently reading! This has been languishing on the TBR for a While™ and came highly recommended by a bookstore coworker. I'm only a couple chapters in, so far, and the family tree is ~Messy~, but the prose is lyrical and lovely!

Getting to Know You

Three ships: Tavstarion has brought me back to writing in an utterly hilarious way so I'm going to champion it. If ships in my own work count there are two that I can't talk about yet because it turns out that you actually have to write the thing instead of daydreaming about it for it to have any kind of merit among folks. Who knew! Excited to put them out there though

Currently Reading: The October Country by Ray Bradbury, Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton, The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, American Prometheus.

Currently Watching: Foundation! My friend Kiga turned me on to it and I love watching Lee Pace play a villain with the saddest eyes in the entire world

Last thing I wrote: I wrote about 6k words of Tavstarion fic and about 10k words of original stuff in the last two weeks

Currently writing: I'm concentrating on worldbuild for NaNoWriMo and plugging away at the Tavstarion stuff for fun. This is about when I start planning for NaNo and I'm going to attempt an actual outline this go to use as a roadmap instead of pantsing it - I think that's where I'm having trouble. I run out of steam after hitting about 60k words and lose interest altogether, so I believe the key for this year will involve more planning.

My favorite storyline / moment:

1. In season 1 when Ian visits Mickey in jail. “Say that again and I rip your tongue out of your head” There were so many perfect Gallavich moments but that was the first one which catched me!

2. When Mark told Lexie about their future and that they were meant to bes while Lexie was dying. It was so fucking sad and unfair but so emotional.

3. Every quote from the Phil's- Osophy

4. Carla and Samuels Macarrones Scene

5. When Wade and Zoe finally got together in the night George wanted to marry Lemon. The sexual tension was fucking incredible and Wade was so fucking hot.

6. When Clove died and screams Cato’s name and Cato came too late and only found her body and cried. (this scene ist only from the book). But I liked the story of Haymitch’s games, too. His alliance with Maysilee. The idea of him being a hot and smart young guy that couldn’t handle the memory of the games and the loss of his loved ones is so emotional and sad.

A storyline that never should have been written:

1. The break up of Ian and Mickey in season 5 only because of Ians mental health. Mickey tried so much to help Ian and Ian blamed Mickey without any reason. I was so furious.

2. Alex leaving Jo for Izzie and Izzie having kids from Alex sperm ???? This was a fucking joke. Yeah, hated the last Alex and Izzie break up and I would have loved seeing them stay together and grow as persons and lovers. I rooted so much for them. There was so much potential and I have to admit I prayed for her coming back and saving the relationship. Even years after her exit because of all the open questions but I never thought they would do something so bad like this. Him leaving Jo and all his life / friends [MEREDITH] only with a letter ? That has nothing to do with the Alex Karev he had become. It destroys his whole character development. I wanted Izzie back not Alex leave.

3. All scenes Jay disrespects Mitchell and Mitchells sexuality. Yeah you can mention this but sometimes it’s presented as funny and there are many stupid cliches. It’s sad even if it’s only a sitcom.

4. Carlas Dad causing Christians injuries so that he can’t talk about Polos fault. That was too sick.

5. Zoe's relationship with Joel. Not surprising. I kind of liked Joel but what the fuck? There was a love triangle with George why another one?

6. The way Katniss acted in Mockingjay. First of all she was a kid, why the fuck did she think she could make her own thing and kill snow without any plan? And it's written as if she is a war hero and not an abused kid. On the other side I hated how she treated Peeta and she is so self-pity, it's cruel.
