The XA Ford Falcon GT was released in March 1972 and ceased production in September 1973, and was the first Falcon GT to be available in a two door coupe. The XA was the first Australian built Falcon not to be based on a American design, and was almost completely designed in Australia. The XA Hardtop became the more preferred option to be used in Australian Touring Car Racing due to it's larger rear wheel arches for wider racing tyres. The XA GT Hardtop went on to achieve back to back wins at Bathurst with Allan Moffat and Ian Geoghegan in the 1973 Hardie-Ferodo 1000, and the 1974 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 with John Goss and Kevin Bartlett.Total produced: 1,868 Sedans and 891 Hardtops.Engine: 5766cc Cleveland V8 with overhead valvesCompression Ratio: 11.0:1Fuel System: Ford Autolite '4300' 605cfm 4 barrel downdraught carburettorPower / Torque: 224kW (300bhp} @ 5400rpm, 513Nm (380Ib-ft} @ 3400rpmTransmission: Four-speed manual, three-speed FMX automaticRear Axle: 9in removable carrier type, Limited Slip 'traction lock' Diff, 28 splineSuspension: Independent with coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers and anti-roll bar (front) Live axle with semi-elliptic springs, telescopic shock absorbers and anti-roll bar (rear)Brakes: Disc front 286mm (11.25in) Drum rear 254mm (10in) power assisted.Wheels:14 x 6 Steel - Argent painted Steel '12 Slot'.Tyres: ER70H14 RadialCurb weight estimated: 1585 kg / 3490 lbsPerformance: 0-100km: 7.2 seconds 0-400 metres: 15.4 seconds (manual sedan)Price when new for a 1973 XA Ford Falcon GT 5.8 Litre 351 V8 automatic two door Coupe: $6,648.00.

1956 Edsel Raven concept car
The Ford Thunderbird began life in 1953 as a direct response to Chevrolet's recently unveiled Corvette prototype. Calling in some major players in the design field, the Thunderbird rapidly developed from idea to prototype in about a year. Ford was very pleased to see record-breaking sales of the Thunderbird reach 23 times the number of Corvettes sold in 1955.
With a new Edsel Corsair model staged for production in 1958, Edsel saw the great success and popularity of the Thunderbird as a viable platform for a mid-level entry personal luxury car within the Ford corporate lineup below the top-of-the-line Continental. In 1956, borrowing the Thunderbird’s basic frame and removable hardtop roof, Edsel had its design team rush to create a prototype similar to the Thunderbird in length, though being slightly heftier in general proportions to fit the fresh styling of the new Corsair.
Edsel was so confident it had a winner, that an operable prototype of the car was driven to a meeting with Ford execs where it was touted that the new Raven model would provide a bit more headroom and elbow room than the Thunderbird, and offer even more luxury options at mid-level pricing. Edsel also went on to elaborate how Ford could then focus more attention to racing applications of the Thunderbird as to be more competitive against the Corvette.Hemmings OriginalsThe video player is currently playing an ad.

this is the most genderfluid car (derogatory)
, reads the caption this picture of a ‘94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Wagon S was submitted to this blog with.
Tumblr media
And while I would indeed like @sapphicshart to elaborate on why this car would be so genderfluid and why in a derogatory way, and perhaps appreciate how they reused the window triangles from the regular one at the rear end of the body, I feel that must make way for my first reaction upon the claim of “most genderfluid”:
haha.
Hahahaha.
HAHAHAHAHHA.
MUAUAHAHAUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAA.
Dear friend, prepare to get absolutely motherfucking BODIED.
This is the 1982 Nissan Pulsar NX (Pulsar EXA in Japan and Australia), and it’s not the car we are interested in.
Tumblr media
The Pulsar NX was a way Nissan devised to get a more youthful and exciting coupe out of the underpinnings of the Nissan Pulsar/Sunny/Cherry (or even Holden Astra, if you’re feeling weirdly Australian), …conventionally unappealing little sedan and hatchback. Ah, right, I’ve still not made the body styles master explainer - let me brief you very quick. The above is a coupe, a car with two doors and a trunk compartment that is separate from the cabin. When the doors are four, it’s what you see below, a sedan.
Tumblr media
Whereas a hatchback is one with a rear hatch that contains the rear windshield, making the trunk compartment part of the cabin.
Tumblr media
See what I meant with the “conventionally unappealing”, eh.
Well, in 1986 the base Pulsar/Sunny/Cherry/Sentra/so on received an update, and thus the Pulsar NX based on its guts was updated with it.
Tumblr media
And if your brows are furrowed by unfamiliarity and not by the painful realization of how hard our poor submitter is about to get pulverized, you must understand that this car’s body style is… rather unique.
In late ‘60s America, word started spreading that the Department Of Transportation would ban convertibles due to the awful lack of shit between passenger heads and pavement when they decided to change side - thus began the popularity of “targas” like this here NX (though manufacturers called them a lot of different names because Porsche copyrighted that word).
In a targa, instead of both roof and rear windshield all folding down behind the cabin, the roof is a solid panel (or, as in this case, two) that is removed and stored away and the rear windshield stays there, on the rear structure that remains at the service of body rigidity and occupants safety. And personally that feels extremely genderfluid to me.
Tumblr media
But of course, there are many targa coupes, so this would not be such a peculiarity. But the thing is, while this car has two doors and a trunk compartment separate from the interior and thus a coupe, it can also be argued a hatchback since it has a hatch that includes the rear windshield.
Tumblr media
But why in tarnation would they design a rear hatch like that when, since it doesn’t create any more room above the trunk, it has no cargo space advantage? Well, remember how one key difference between targas and convertibles is that in the former the rear windshield stays in place? Well, here it does stay in place, if you want to. If you don’t, though, you just take it off.
Tumblr media
So the Pulsar NX is a coupe that is also a hatchback and a targa and a cabriolet. Except that now, as you can see, the rear compartment is open. So arguably it’s also a pickup - or, if you will, a ute. (It’s doing that weird thing it does sometimes with post submissions where it keeps me on the old editor where I can’t change text color so please pretend that link is the trademark ‘link to a related things-about-cars-in-posts post’ blue.)
But then you’d at least want a canvas cover or something just in case it rains and your rear passengers and/or cargo don’t like rain, right? So indeed, here’s the optional canvas canopy.
Tumblr media
Meaning it could also have both a fixed glass rear windshield and a folding plastic one, making it both a hardtop convertible and a soft top one.
But what if you wanted to transport too much cargo to fit under the hatch -or the canvas cover- but you still wanted to have it protected, as you could do in a ute with a rear canopy?
Well, folks, I truly saved the best for last.
Because this thing is not just a coupe, a hatchback, a targa, a soft top convertible, a hardtop convertible, a pickup and a ute. It’s also a shooting brake. (Again, pretend that’s blue.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You see now why the rear hatch hinged like that.
So while this is a post about a most [specific sexual identity or orientation] car, I am not, as per tradition, offering other options nor a vote between them, because democracy does not apply to matters of fact. (And also again I’m stuck on the old editor.)
But of course, if you want to participate in the creation of any future installments, hop on over into the Discord server linked in my pinned! It’s got glowing reviews :)

Secret Legacy pt.1
Prologue:
Hardtop and Swindle were on the run for a long time after the war was won in the autobots favor. Evading GHOST every chance they get. Some cons who crossed GHOST’s path weren’t so lucky. So when they got anonymous tip for unguarded energon, they took it without hesitation. They both drove to the location. A shipping dock in the middle of nowhere.
“Let’s just get the energon and get out of here.” Hardtop quivered. “I don’t want Optimus or his goons to find us.”
They searched through the shipping containers until they found the energon. They both sighed with relief when they saw it. Before Swindle could grab it, they heard it. The sound of a familiar truck horn.
“Optimus”
They both sprinted to the nearest hiding spot and hid when the truck grew closer. Swindle didn’t know what to do. He heard stories on how the Prime would hunt the decepticons until near death.
“Hardtop~,Swindle~”
Their tanks dropped when Optimus called their names. Swindle had to think of a way for he and his brother to get out here alive.
“If you both just surrender now, I won’t kill you both. Wouldn’t that be great?”
Hardtop could hear Optimus’s sicking laughter as he dragged his axe on the ground like a maniac.
“Hardtop, I gotta plan.” Swindle whispered.
Hardtop was pale as a ghost when he looked as Swindle.
“If we silently walk out of this death trap,
We’ll be home free.”
Even though Hardtop was scared for his life, he nodded. Together, they both left their hiding spot and crept though the shipping containers. They could hear Optimus prime’s steps growing farther and farther the more the tip toed through the docks. The wind howled as the fog swallowed them whole. Then they found it. An exit. They were free at last. Swindle and hardtop made a dash for the exit, until they saw a silhouette of a bot they knew too well. It was Elita-1.
“Going somewhere boys?~” Elita purred.
They stoped with a screeching halt before frantically turning around. Before Swindle could say anything, his brother was struck down by one of the shipping crates. Hardtop, pinned to the ground, motionless.
“Hardtop!” Swindle screamed.
He ran to his bother and frantically tried to wake him up. All of it was fruitlets.
“One con down, one more to go.”
Swindle wanted to punch Optimus for what he did to his brother, the Decepticons, and to Megatron.
“If I were you, I would surrender.” Optimus suggested. Swindle didn’t look at Optimus, only looking at his unconscious brother on the ground.
“The war is over Swindle, you don’t need to keep fighting.” Optimus said. “So give up.” Before Swindle could say anything, something pounced onto Optimus. It looked like a spider but . . . Wrong. Optimus roared when one of those spiders jumped on his face. Elita tried to help but was also caught, being jumped by those spiders. This gave Swindle enough time to remove the crate off of his brother. He grabbed Hardtop and made a run for it.
edit: when the crate fell on hardtop, he still lost his right arm.

Ferarri LaFerrari Aperta (1 of 209).
After releasing the first photos of the open-top version of the LaFerrari, Ferrari now has rolled out the new model at the Paris auto show and announced its name: Aperta (Italian for “open”). Ferrari confirmed that the roadster version, which it characterized as a “limited-edition special series,” has the same powertrain as the hardtop. That means a 6.3-liter V-12 supplemented by an electric motor, with a total output of 949 horsepower, although Ferrari added, “The powertrain control software has been optimized to increase its overall efficiency.” Top speed is said to be unchanged and torsional rigidity undiminished. The car comes with both soft and optional, removable carbon-fiber hard tops. The company claims that with the top off and the windows raised, the Aperta has no more aerodynamic drag than the coupe, in part because of two new, L-shaped flaps at the upper corners of the windshield.A number of other modifications have been made to alter airflow. The angle of the radiators has been changed to redirect exiting hot air from over the hood to along the underbody. A duct has been added to channel air from the grille over the hood to add downforce. Aiding in the same effort are a larger front spoiler and lowered underbody surfaces.
Total production was 209 cars, 200 of which were pre-sold. The other nine were used as part of the company's 70th anniversary celebrations in 2017.

Swindle?
I know that Swindle has already appeared in Earthspark, but in the leaks, there is a car that looks a lot like Swindle's vehicle mode, only this one has a weapon included on the outside and we see Optimus Prime driving away
Let's remember that Mandroid had removed an arm from Hardtop which prevents him from transforming.
Mandroid probably lied to Swindle that the autobots and GHOST took Hardtop's arm and he would avenge his brother. At some point Swindle will discover the truth and let Optimus go to go after his brother.

mmkay, so, digesting the latest episode batch of earthspark. a question i had within the first 10 episodes was ‘HOW antagonistic will GHOST be’ and the answer turned out to be: VERY!
lots of thoughts and theories floating around, i’m gonna add to the pile. putting on my wild mass guessing hat. this is gonna be disorganized.
i feel pretty confident in saying optimus is definitely aware of, on some level, what GHOST is doing. mandroid calls grimlock ‘your’ dinosaur problem when croft confronts him. bee says grimlock was on a mission and they lost contact with him for months. i’m inclined to think he was smuggling energon and/or decepticons out of bot brawl, providing them an out, until he was discovered or perhaps got a little too close to the truth. after all, GHOST turns out to have been aware bumblebee was likely not dead at all. who’s to say they’re not keeping tabs on mechs like wheeljack, arcee, and the other ‘bots we saw who were on earth during the g1 flashback? optimus is clearly trying to keep cards in his deck and appease GHOST to the best of his ability. i’m definitely concerned for his safety ngl. my guess is he’s likely the target for mandroid’s next mind control project honestly.
related, i believe while megatron is definitely aware of the stockades, i think either he doesn’t LIKE going down there, or GHOST won’t let him specifically be there without supervision. after all, even though starscream dislikes him, i’ve got no doubt in my mind he’d happily air the dirty laundry of GHOST’s activities involving the incarcerated cons as soon as he laid optics on megatron.
another thing i think earthspark has been demonstrating through repetition is the idea that the cybertronians are pretty difficult to actually kill. being drained of energon seems to merely put them in torpor until they’re refueled. brawl shows a few signs of life when bee is examining him. hardtop gets a limb removed while awake and is no worse for wear. starscream has clearly survived a major explosion at point blank range and is completely fine. i have no doubt in my mind that GHOST is likely trying to engineer a weapon that can pierce sentio metallica. honestly thought thats what croft’s gun during bee and breakdown’s escape was going to be; and maybe i’m not too far off as breakdown was actually taking some pretty significant damage from it. we’ll definitely see a cybertronian die by GHOST’s hands. i just feel that in my jellies.
one last disjointed thought, it was very interesting that mo found the emberstone’s power in episode 18 ‘scary’. robbie agrees. since the emberstone and quintus prime has connections to quintessons by association, i’ve got to wonder if it’s related.

Is Megatron louder when he's getting his arm yoinked because he's sturdier and therefore the removal is more difficult or because Hardtop just has a higher pain tolerance 🤔

Muntz Jet, 1952. Earl “Madman” Muntz made cars at first in California and then  Illinois in the early 50s. The Jet had a removable hardtop and was powered by a Lincoln V8 (early cars used a Cadillac V8). The Jet was hand made and though it was priced higher than a Cadillac a loss was made on every car sold. Production ceased in 1954 after about 400 were made, of which around 50 survive.

How To Rebuild A Worn-Out Car Door Hinge - Mike McNessor @Hemmings
Door Hinge Do-Over This is the lower driver’s door hinge from my 1961 Impala two door hardtop on the bench with the spring removed. It’s upside down here so you can see the deep groove worn in the detent roller (center of photo). The car’s door swung open and closed freely without any detent action because the roller was completely worn through. To fix things up, I purchased this Shafer’s…

Always a little sad to put the doors back on the Jeep, but it’s a pretty chilly ride when temps start to dip below 80. It is a straightforward process; Jeep even provides a little toolkit.
Due to our move we hadn’t removed the doors for 3 years and they were difficult to get off. I covered the door hinge pins in lithium grease in hopes they will be easier to remove next year.
The hardtop is still hanging from the ceiling winch and hopefully won’t be reinstalled for a few more weeks.
