Part 5. Aram

Series Masterlist 

AN: The 1 (maybe 2) people who read my MVDG and Red fics are EATING this week. This is definitely a new record. Last time R and Red almost get caught!!!! Sry Aram, ILY but I needed part 5 to be done. I have more Red fic ideas BUT I have to finish this first. If u were tagged twice that is my mistake

CW: Food,  swearing, FBI! Reader. Editing this was surprisingly fast so be scared (of grammar mistakes)

Slowly but surely, Raymond Reddington has been leaving things at your apartment. The first was a now empty suitcase. He asked you to take it because he needed to move out of one safe house and wouldn’t be able to get into the next one for the whole day. Nursing your massive crush on him, you agreed, but not before going through the suitcase in front of him to make sure it was just clothes and nothing illegal. 

As your relationship evolved, so have the items he leaves at yours. He’s left a few white T-shirts in case he stays over, munis the one you took for yourself. There is a full suit perpetually hanging in the back of your closet, tucked away in its own bag. He even left a French press in your kitchen so he can enjoy his coffee at yours. You’re also gifted with an endless supply of drop phones with one or two numbers pre-programmed into them.

 You’ve been to this restaurant before, but that was when you went as an ordinary customer. It was loud, a mix of chatter from customers, the kitchen, and the random playlist of background music. 

Tonight was much quieter, the only customers being the two of you. You could hear the music more clearly even though it was at a lower volume. That’s the perks you get when dating someone who everyone seems to owe. 

You could hear him even if you were sitting across, but he immediately took the seat next to you. His watch reflects the light as he trails your fingers up and down your arm. 

You try not to squirm under his gaze but it's hard. He’s been gone for a month and you’re just dying to get him into your bed. You didn't even glance at the menus, wanting to have your whole attention on Reddington.

“We can go somewhere. Anywhere you want.” He suggests pulling you back to the conversation. 

“Oh, is my apartment not good enough for you?” you tease, trying to deflect.

“Not that I don’t love your view of the parking lot, sweetheart, but how about a change? We could get as far as Finland for breakfast.” 

You’re saved by a shrill ringing from your bag. It also makes your heart drop into your stomach. Not wanting to be interrupted you only brought your work phone. 

“Shit, shit. I’m so sorry I have to take this.” your words are frantic and you pull the phone out to see who is on the caller ID. 

Reddington nodded, understanding but you could also see the disappointment on his face. 

You push your seat out while standing, needing to pace while on the phone. 

“I know you’re on a date, and you were really looking forward to it, but we need you. The calls are too much for one person and uhh….” Aram’s voice trails off as the line goes mute. 

You know that you’re going to ditch your date to go to work, but you can still feel bad about it. You spin on your feet to face Reddington and tell him the bad news but catch sight of Dembe striding across the restaurant with his phone in hand. 

Aram rejoined your phone call. “And Rickey’s dead.” 

Rickey is someone low in Reddington's criminal operation, who is also working with someone on the blacklist, selling secrets to them. Reddington was feeding Ricky false information in hopes it would draw out the blacklister. 

“He's dead?!” you repeat, before putting your phone on mute to fill Reddington in. 

“Your man Ricky’s dead!” You tell him, still in disbelief.

Both Dembe and Reddington look at you like you grew a second head. 

“He's not dead, he has been arrested,” Dembe informs you. 

Now it was your turn to stare at them. 

“Hello? Are you still there? Helloooo.” Aram's voice got your attention. You unmute him. 

“Yeah, sorry. I’m on my way.” You reply before handing up the call. The restaurant was close to the Post Office, it would be faster to walk than to try and get your coat and have Reddington drive you. 

“I’m so sorry, I need to go, Aram thinks he's dead, but needs help figuring out where, or why or something.” You ramble on trying to get your brain to catch up. 

“Can I at least offer a ride?” Reddington asks. He knows he won’t be able to talk you back into continuing the date.

You wave him off. 

“It's faster if I walk. I’m so sorry” you apologize for the third time. 

“Sweetheart, it's raining, please.” He implores.

“I gotta go.”  

With your phone in your hand, you blindly felt around under the table for your bag. 

“It's raining.” 

“It’s just water,” you argued back. 

“At least take the jacket, please.”

You reached out to take the cream suit jacket from him and shrugged it over your shoulders. At least your hair will stay dry.

“That's a nice jacket. Looks like something Reddington would wear.” The first words out of Aram's mouth had you on edge. 

Your laugh sounded fake, even to your own ears as you move to hide the jacket in your shared office. 

“Yeah, guess I spend too much time here” you joke, settling into the chair Aram put out for you at his desk.

“Okay. I know you got pulled away from your date, and I’m sorry. But did you get the pasta with the mushroom cream sauce?” 

“Aram -” 

“Oh, or maybe the gnocchi?” 

You make an exaggerated frown. “We didn’t even order.” 

Aram's face drops. It’s sweet how invested he is. When Reddington told you the restaurants he wanted to take you to, Aram helped you decide which one to go to you think.

The Ricky hunt was not going well. No one had a clear lead, and with you taking hospital and morgues, Aram calling police stations, even Reddington (sans suit jacket) and Dembe came into call any criminal contacts who may know. 

Aram was blessed with the winning phone call. Ricky was indeed arrested and then bailed out by the blacklister, giving the team a lead. More importantly, it gave you the freedom to salvage what was left of your date. 

Dembe already left to start the car but to also give you and Red some space. 

“You look lovely tonight. Any special occasion?” He asked while following you to one of the hallways in the post office. 

You press your lips together in an effort not to smile. 

“I actually had a hot date.” 

“Think it's salvageable?” 

You pretended to think it over while the elevator doors closed. 

“I don’t know. He told me my apartment’s not as nice for breakfast compared to anywhere in Europe?” you tease him. 

“He sounds wise. Are you going to forgive him?” Reddington purses his lips as if he was actually going to weigh in on the drama.

You bump your shoulder against him. 

“Depends on how he treats me tonight.”

My brand-new favorite Redacted audio is Avior's S1 finale. I've been waiting for so long. Hopefully that doesn't give away who I am lol. I don't really get the hype for Yanderes in general but Blake in particular, like, I got nothin'.

I could literally stand in front of you and quote The Incredibles front to back, doing Very Bad Impressions of all the character voices, and bad vocal renditions of the soundtrack. I watched it every day when I was like 8-9. I love that movie.

I would also like Cam and Caelum to be my best friends.

Fun fact: my go-to ramble is also space! I watched one (1) Bill Nye video on the sun when I was like 8 or 9 and I was hooked. Fast forward to college and I got a 97% overall in Honors Astronomy my freshman year and my honors program advisor looked at my transcript and went, "How did you get that high of an A in Honors Astronomy?" and I was like, "It wasn't hard???" And my advisor goes, "Yes it is! No one gets that high of an A in Honors Astronomy." And I'm sitting there like, "Well, uh... I did." Also, in said Honors Astronomy class, the professor put up two nearly-identical graphics (emission spectrum of hydrogen) and asked what the difference between the top and bottom ones were and I raised my hand and said, "The bottom one is red-shifted" (not knowing he was about to introduce the Doppler Effect but already knowing what that was) and my professor stares at me for a solid 10 seconds in stunned silence and said, "I've been teaching this course for 20 years and you're the first one to get that question right on the first try." So... yeah. Big space nerd. 🌟

One other thing that says a lot about me is that I adore that the Redacted d(a)emon aesthetic is music and stars. Music was the first thing I was taught to love by my musician family, and the stars were the first thing I loved for myself.

Also if I were an Empowered race, I'd definitely be a Freelancer, but one with a heavy emphasis in Dreamwalking, Psychokinesis, Fire Elemental Command, and Electro Command. I'm not cool enough to be a specialized race. Oh man I'm a rambler. I'll stop now.

Don’t stop the rambling; I think it’s wonderful, and you know what? So would Lasko.

I think it’d be so cute to have a thoughtful and rambly partner for Lasko. Conversations are a push and pull, and I think Lasko is too often one or the other, trying so hard. Because of that, I imagine it would be so peaceful and quieting for him to not feel like he has to talk or contribute and to be able to just listen and be there for you.

Overall, Lasko is uniquely situated to uplift and care for you. INTJs (and Slytherins to an extent) are characterized as intelligent, ambitious, and virulently independent. Lasko, who strikes me somewhere on the brink of an ISFJ, would be a lovely partner for you in that his hardworking nature and ambition would not combat or stifle yours but would support it.

I went looking specifically through my Lasko/OC playlist for this one, and I was not disappointed. Lasko is such a ride or die dude, you feel me? He’s so dedicated to the people he loves and the family he’s chosen, so once he chooses you, there’s nothing stopping him.

Anton also strikes me as a wonderful listener; I can easily picture him tinkering with some machinery while nodding and humming and listening to you wax poetic about the music playing in his workshop. Vincent would also be a good listener, not by his own virtue but just by being a fuckin simp. He’s the type who’d have his chin perched on his hands, starry eyed and mooning as you infodump and trying his honest to god best to understand what you’re saying even if he has no clue.

Note: I don’t think you sound like a villain! I’m an INTJ, and my boyfriend is a Slytherin, so you’re in fantastic company in my opinion 💜

Be 100% honest do you trust the writers for the last two episodes? I'm worried, but let's see and oh apparently reviewers are getting the episode madness rises again in a few

Tim & Co. have earned back my trust with this season, honestly. They took the overwhelming criticism they received from season 2 and really worked hard to make the show better this time around. (+ season 2 always felt like a bit of stepping stone season to me anyway, it was all set up and now we're finally getting the payoff.)

So, in short? Yeah, I actually do trust them *cue the sound of clown shoes squeaking in the distance in case that trust is completely misguided*

I have faith that I'll get everything I need out of these next two episodes...okay, well, almost everything. The only thing I'm really afraid of is that we won't get enough of Ricky's perspective. I was really hopeful that his conversation with Jet at the end of 306 would shed some more concrete light on his behavior in s2, at what point did he know Gina had feelings for him (did he know at opening night back in December? Even before that? Or is he retroactively putting the pieces together now?) and at what point did he realized he had feelings for her (I can tell you right now that he developed feelings for her that night after Homecoming, parked outside of Gina's house in Big Red's car, but I want to know when it finally clicked for Ricky).

Maybe Jet & Ricky are getting ready for prom and Jet notices how bummed out Ricky is (he's thinking about the possibility of having to see Gina dance with EJ tonight -- he has no idea that they've either already broken up or are about to breakup) and Jet tells him, "Okay, fine. Tell me." "Tell you what?" "The full story. You helped me with Maddie, now it's my turn to help you...but I can't do that unless I know the full story. So talk."

Or Jet interrupts the [redacted] because he's nervous about the song he plans to sing ("Wouldn't Change a Thing") and that maybe Maddox will think it's stupid and won't join in. Ricky tells him, "C'mon, dude. You've come this far. You gotta at least try." and Jet's like, "I could say the same to you...EJ's not in the picture anymore, what's stopping you from trying with Gina?" & Ricky tells Jet that he can't, not after how much he hurt her last semester (cue backstory)

Seeing Ricky admit that he has feelings for Gina, watching him put her happiness above all else and then go cry in cabin because he can't believe he let himself miss his chance with her has been great, I've loved every second of it -- but I need to know, from Ricky himself, where his head was at in s2 (& to some extent, s1). We need to go back to the past one more time before we can move forward, I think.

★★☆☆☆ Red Notice - Watched this with my parents. Not a big Ryan Reynolds fan, something about his acting/humor always feels fake to me, but I do love heist movies. I’ve seen better ones, but the twist at the end was funny.

★★★☆☆ Jungle Cruise - A better movie with the Rock than Red Notice, mostly because of his dynamic with Emily Blunt.

★★★★☆ Centaurworld S1-S2 - You will bring joy to the Nowhere King when he sees the light leaving your eyes... I watched this show solely because of this terrifying video of a terrifying villain that @lettenhove reblogged a few months ago. When the Mysterious Woman kicked [redacted] off the cliff <3

★★★★☆ Yuri on Ice S1 - Idk why I waited so long to watch this. Did not expect Yuri and Victor’s second meeting in the show to involve Victor completely naked in a hot springs bath. If I had watched Yuri on Ice in 2016 when it first aired... Whew the personal things I would’ve projected onto Yuri! You are all so lucky I waited until I was in a different stage of life to watch.

★★★★★ Dashing in December - I watched this last year and rewatched it this past Christmas because it’s such a comfort movie. Like this is no prestige film, it’s a Christmas romcom, and the plot is formulaic, but I love it so much anyways, admittedly mostly because it’s a gay romance but I think that’s justified. The actors gave it their all and it’s cute.

Crazy girl tries to cut my tongue off, and I get revenge

So, this is a story that has culminated over the past 3-4 years of my high school year, and I'm gonna condense it into at least whatever I can fit on this screen, so get ready for some drama, trauma, and some really sweet petty revenge.

So, in order to redact names, I’ll be using the following

Me=Me, a goldfish cracker addict, because this was the year I found out I really like Goldfish

Background

This was my second to last year in high school,and from where I’m from school wise, it was important because grades determined GPA and SATs and ACTs were smothered into one year before you have to chose colleges, and frankly, I was have my own awakenings after revisiting my old guilty pleasure, listening to K pop .Now, I tend to hang out with a lot of students older than me, mainly because the student in my grade were mostly into talking about sports, classes and homework, and the kids I hung out with were mostly nice, nerdy and chill. I had a great time with a lot of them, doing fun projects together and even had fun game nights with some.

Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked…

One day, while chatting with Friend 1 about K pop, since she had recently become a fan of the genre, she asked if I wanted to join her to chat with a friend who was also into it. Being a naive young person I was, I said yes and soon, I was stuck in a group chat with CF,F and Me.At first, no red flags hit me, as she seemed like an okay person.A little temperamental,but nothing too off.A couple days later, I end up finding out that CF was a girl in our school and was friends with F, so I decided to chat with her in person, since I was a little bit of a social butterfly.

Days went by, and I was starting to see that something wasn’t all that right with CF.She was very rude and mean,lied about a lot of things and was a heavy manipulator.I never fell all that much for her traps, which is why she would always single me out for her physical attacks and stuff.She would always make me feel small about myself and make me feel dumb because I’m younger than her, and when I tried to speak up, she would constantly try to get me to shut up, even threatening to cut my tongue off with a pair of scissors(no joke, she actually pinned me against the wall and tried to cut my tongue off with a bright purple scissors and she stopped when she saw me crying).She took pleasure in my fear and S1 and S2 knew it, but couldn’t do anything, since they didn't have an power to stop her either.I was having enough of this, because she would let me hang out with my other friends and I was forced to stay with her and listen to her yap about herself and how grande her life was, and I had to stop this somehow. so...I hatched a plan

The Plan

So, something I didn’t mention earlier was that,CF was a very big liar. She always made up elaborate stories about how she met this actor and went to all these extravagant places to make herself seem like she was better than everyone. And she had a history of dropping friends that tend to catch on with her lies.So, I wanted to get major revenge and end her little reign of ruining my year by ruining hers, and what better time than to ruin it to the best time:Prom season-and guess who was running for queen:CF

You see,S1 was a very sneaky person, as he ran a site on the campus that is run by a small group of students from the newspaper department.On the site you are allowed to post whatever you want and since most of the school is on it, the site is filled with gossip and announcements. Since she was a very well known person, there was no exception on the website as well.So, my friend helped me by making an anonymous account and I waited for a perfect time to enact my revenge.

The revenge

A few days before ballots were about to go on, a lot of people were on the site, trying to see who should be chosen for prom queen. Most of the innocent students were planning on choosing CF.Her ego was massively inflated that couple of days, and I fed into it, making her feel high and mighty, unbeknownst to her what was coming.

A day before ballots were about to open up, The school is bustling with rumors and gossip and I see that CF had to forcefully step down because of the “recent events”.

Apparently, “SOMEONE “posted out all the truths about her and the proof towards each and every single one of her lies,some of them being scandals about cheating and accusation that made in the past coming out to be true, false, all of her little lies were unfolding themselves from their massive spider web.

Funny things was, she never suspected it was me :)

Aftermath

After that incident I never had to deal with her again, ever, because she had managed to dug her own grave with all her lies unfolding. Most of her friends were gone, and the day of prom, CF ended up not going because her supposed date dumped her the day the ballots had begun.I ended surviving the rest of school year, munching on goldfish is satisfaction and feeling content with my revenge. And what makes this even better is that I haven't seen or heard from her since

They train them, raise them, then send them out into the world ready to fight the battles no one else can.

These agents are trained to not consider themselves as people. They are no one. Shadows of the world, g h o s t s. Masters of disguise, skilled hackers, and brutal killers; they can take down an entire empire in one night if they so choose to. Only they don’t. The world is a grey area with red tape interfering at every turn. When someone is needed to unravel that tape, be the monster to hunt monsters, their agents are sent in. No one knows who originally started the GHOST initiative, or whether it is truly outside any government reach, all they know is what their overseers tell theme.

Her name is WRAITH. One of their best. No mission done by her has failed, and that’s why they sent her out of all their recruits to Gallagher. Her specialty is infiltration, information retrieval ( whether it be data-based or through physical means ) and destabilization. And that’s what she plans to do. Only...she doesn’t know why. The girl was taught to be logical above anything, no matter the costs. So why send her to college for spies? What information could they possibly have that GHOST doesn’t? Her questions were left unanswered, which only made her more curious.

Her curiosity led her to encrypted files, mostly redacted, with codenames and metaphors she’d never heard of. What she didn’t expect to find, were her own files hidden within them. The girl had never been particularly curious about her past, as she was taught not to, but upon seeing her file for the first time she began to wonder if she should be. Half of it was redacted, including the names of relatives, her birthplace, and means of extraction. Why would an orphan, someone abandoned, have so much redacted information surrounding their family? Did she use to be someone? Does she still have someone?

And why was she EXTRACTED...?

Just more questions that plagued her upon enrollment at the spy university. Here she would be known under the alias of KATERINA. The files given to her that tell her of the fabricated backstory GHOST cooked up for her say that she’s to be just as wealthy and affluent and intelligent as her fellow classmates. A p e r f e c t cover. Usually, putting on a new face, becoming someone else, was the refreshing part of the job. The exciting part. But this time around, she can’t help but admit that becoming this faux persona is a lot harder now that her own identity remains hanging in the balance.

* / INNER THOUGHTS: Being a double agent is nothing new to her. There’s nothing but the mission. Or at least, there only used to be. An expertly trained agent is who she is, calculating and smart and loyal to her cause. But now that she knows there might be more towards her history, she finds herself going rogue while here at Gallagher. While she’s still dedicated to her mission overall and is easily befriending anyone she needs to do so, a part of her thirst’s for the knowledge that GHOST has kept from her. Their betrayal runs deep. If she can’t use Gallagher resources to find out, then she just might take a chance and force the hand of the institution that has been keeping her in the dark all these years.

* / WANTED RELATIONS: people she can get close to in order to extract information from, people who make her “”feel stuff”” as her secrets are making her more vulnerable than normal, maybe someone who starts catching on to her secret, and the usual ( enemies, lovers, etc... )

Hi! Sorry for being so late >.(since I couldn’t finish today and tomorrow’s entries for the Sledgefu week, I figured I could at least reply to your request that was sitting for some time in my ask box)(it still took some time to write ‘cause I tend to get a lot invested in these things… hope you don’t mind!)

It all starts because Rami has to move to NYC to film Mr Robot and the flat he had decided to rent for the first months in the city is suddenly no more available (for an unlucky coincidence of bad maintenance from the previous owners, delay on reparation works from the current owner and Rami’s lack of time to get directly involved in these matters) and he has to ask to his New Yorker friends for a place to crash, promising it would be only for the time it takes for his flat to get fixed

of course Joe is the first friend to reply and the most enthusiastic one because he’s like that and he’s always there to lend a hand

of course (2) Rami’s own flat’s works get delayed over and over again and at the end he’s finishing shooting S1 of Mr Robot and he’s still living with Joe (and loving the shit out of their shared routine)

since the first week of their cohabitation, Joe has Rami saved under ‘Roomie Malek’ on his phone (and finds it hilarious, thank you very much)

he steals Rami’s phone at some point and saves himself as ‘Joe Roommazello’ (also hilarious, he’s born to make great puns)

Rami never changes that for some reason (reasons different than his inability with technology I know how to make my phone work Joe fuck right off)

problems with Rami’s real inability with technology start manifesting when Joe, who at that moment is a 30 years old single and ready to mingle boi, realises it’s impossible to successfully end a date with Rami as a roommate, since he doesn’t check his phone EVER and he always misses Joe’s texts about needing the house for himself until at least 11 pm

the times Rami walks in to Joe and a gal/bloke making out on the couch reaches uncountable amounts very fast

Joe is very uncomfortable and Rami is always apologetic but he simply seems unable to solve these recurrent awkward situations by checking and maybe replying to Joe’s desperate texts and phone calls

Joe tries to find a remedy by buying a large whiteboard he hangs on the kitchen’s wall. He divides it in seven sections for the seven days of the week and then instruct Rami to use a red marker while he uses a blue one

the whiteboard is to keep tracks of their schedules so that everyday they know what they have to do and at what hour they should be expected home without having to call the other’s manager

it starts off pretty well but then it becomes so convenient that they begin to leave messages on each other’s daily space, written in their marker colour but in opposite handwritings (‘remember to buy milk’ ‘I’m lactose intolerant’ ‘from Rami to Rami: remember to buy milk’ - underlined - ‘from Joe to Joe: remember to buy regular milk for Rami and soy milk for you’ ‘trip to LA in one week’ ‘I’m gonna miss you’ ‘you’re coming with me’ ‘oh right I forgot’ ‘this is what the board’s for’, etc.)

(a third marker is added to the board. It’s green and it means things they do together)

(it’s still impossible to prevent Rami to catch Joe in compromising positions with his dates because even writing ‘DATE NIGHT’ - underlined - on the board doesn’t mean Rami’s sleepy and tired mind after a full day on set is going to remember that he needs to give Joe his private time at home before he can have dinner, take a shower and fall into bed)

(trying to have sex while Rami’s eating cereal in the kitchen is an absolutely miserable experience, Joe finds out)

Joe stops dating altogether at some points. It saves him the stress to try and find a date and getting ready and spending lots of money for nothing. Moreover, his evenings are already plenty of fun with his and Rami’s late dinners and movie nights and script readings and scene rehearsing and lazy cuddles on the couch

cuddles are a must in their house, by the way. It’s written in their Roommates Contract which they never actually redacted but they quote from all the time since they rewatched S1 of TBBT together (‘before the show turned to shit’ ‘please don’t say that in public’). They’re both very tactile, affectionate men and they really really don’t care about any toxic masculinity crap, especially in the privacy of their own home

they mostly cuddle in the evening on the couch under a blanket (watching old movies they both love like ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ which is Joe’s favourite and always makes him cry a bit at the end) or on Joe’s bed when Rami comes home very late from set and really needs a hug before going to bed. Joe is always willing to hug someone in distress, even if that requires being woken up at 2 am with a armful of yawning Rami Malek complaining about skipping dinner and feeling NY’s freezing winter weather into his very bones

(Joe hugs him closes and then gets up to make him a ham sandwich while Rami takes a boiling hot shower)

Rami doesn’t date. There are multiple reasons why, but mostly it’s because he’s too busy with filming his first leading role in a tv show and because he’s not one for one night stands so he prefers skipping the dating process altogether while he’s too into his job to really make an effort

plus, Joe’s enough of a reassuring, calming presence in his life at the moment. He’s someone Rami can trust wholeheartedly, from that time he calls him from set panicking about forgetting to turn off the stove that morning (to which Joe has to run home and check if that is true and their apartment is on fire - it isn’t -) to that other time he fell sick with the flu and Joe cancelled his plans to take care of him and make sure he didn’t die of dehydration and lack of medications

Joe is also someone who makes Rami laugh and smile and be happy and he does so all the time, effortlessly. It is probably the characteristic that Rami loves the most about Joe, together with his intelligence and his good manners and his profound respect of others

(basically, everything about Joe is nice in Rami’s eyes)

(and it seems everything about Rami is nice in Joe’s eyes too)

because Rami is also enough for Joe. He’s there for the whole writing process of Joe’s directing debut ‘Undrafted’ and when Joe needs help rehearsing or proof reading a scene, he’s willing to sacrifice all his free time to lend a hand. Rami’s presence in Joe’s home is comforting to the point he find it difficult to fall asleep or remembering things like doing the laundry or going grocery shopping when Rami’s back in LA or somewhere promoting Mr Robot because what’s the point?

(Joe doesn’t like to do things alone anymore)

Rami makes Joe feel safe and grounded. Joe has always been a bit of an anxiety-prone person, always fretting about this or that but at the same time incredibly inclined to fall into profound boredom during lulls in activity between jobs. Rami’s presence somehow prevents him to get too caught up in his own mind during busy times and too lazy to function as a regular human being when he’s got nothing to do

it somehow reminds him of when they first met, on the set of The Pacific: Rami had been an anchor for him at that time too, the ‘one who makes it great’ with his hard work and grace under pressure and willingness to always strive for more, better, best. Their great connection and synergy had started back then and never left. This knowledge makes Joe sad sometimes, thinking about all those years in between when they hadn’t been as close, hadn’t kept in touch enough

sometimes they call Martin just to bother him at odd hours (mostly when it’s already late at night in Ireland) and they always invite him to the US to spend some time together, even if they’re all very busy with their works. Some other time they arrange nights out with Noel and Brendan and all those other The Pacific kids they’re still in contact with because they still get along like brothers and New York is the place where all their roads cross at some point or another

members of their families come to visit and arranging sleeping accommodations when the Maleks are over is the most complicated task: they have two bedrooms with queen size beds and a couch that can accomodate one more person, but they always refuse to let Nelly sleep on it and both offer their own bed to Rami’s mom

after hours of offerings and complaints (Italian hospitality having a fitful match with Egyptian proper manners… the Mediterraneans are all stubborn and prideful in their own ways of being good people), she accepts to sleep in Rami’s bed while the twins take Joe’s bed and Joe creates a nest for himself on the couch

(Nelly wakes up early one morning during their stay to find the couch empty and her three boys all asleep on Joe’s bed with Joe’s laptop still open showing its screensaver and Sami curled up against Rami’s back as Rami’s head is on Joe’s shoulder and Joe’s right arm is under Rami’s waist)

(she closes the door quietly and prepare breakfast for the four of them and doesn’t say a thing when they all emerge sleepy and messy from Joe’s bedroom, but she smiles knowingly at Sami when he catches her eyes as they witness Joe and Rami’s perfect coordination in serving each other toasts and coffee with the right amount of milk and sugar without having to say one single word)

when Yasmine comes to visit, she usually stays in a hotel with her fiancée/husband so they only have to worry about dinner and entertainment

when Joe’s sister comes to visit with her family, Rami gets so excited to see Joe’s nephews that he can’t fall asleep the night prior. He loves chatting with Mary and her husband but the kids are an absolute joy to have around: they play board games and watch movies and one time they all go ice skating together and Rami almost tears up when the youngest calls him (albeit accidentally) ‘uncle’ for the first time

soon (too soon) Mr Robot S1 is over and Undrafted is ready to go into production and while they’re very excited for their new projects, they feel like they’re slowly drifting apart and they don’t like it one bit

Rami is conflicted about moving back to LA for the months he has before S2 starts filming and taking his stuff with him to finally free Joe of his presence. He’s got enough time to look for a new place to stay on his own while he’s back living with Sami, but somehow he doesn’t want to proceed with this plan

Joe’s rarely at home enough to sit down and have a serious conversation about it, but at the same time Rami doesn’t think this is a topic they can discuss over the phone so he delays his flight and he delays having to think about it until

one evening Joe comes home tired and stressed out and crushed by the amount of pressure he’s under to make this movie (HIS movie) work

Rami is there to comfort him and force him to eat dinner and have a shower and going to bed and when Joe breaks down crying in his arms sobbing about not being good enough it takes Rami 0.01 seconds to decide to cancel his flight and stop worrying about what’s right and what’s proper because he’s needed HERE RIGHT NOW and he has to stay but most of all he WANTS to stay

he’s never gonna be perfectly sure he’s the right person to do this for Joe, if Joe needs him because he is conveniently already there in his life or if he’s there because he has been good all along (chosen maybe), because they made it work and it’s working perfectly, because somehow they’ve become exactly what the other needs for it to be right

he’s never gonna be sure but they don’t really have to talk about it either because they both wants this and they’re ready to make an effort to make it right and keep it being right

(Rami thinks Joe makes him a better person because he is inherently a good person. Joe thinks Rami makes him a better person because he is inherently a good person)

soon (2) it’s time for Mr Robot S2 and Rami never really went away in the meanwhile, but that’s okay. Joe is editing Undrafted and it’s maybe not going to be the best film ever made but it’s good and Joe likes it (and Rami likes it a lot) and that’s okay. They’re still living together and their families still love coming to visit them and their whiteboard is still full of things to do written in green and that’s okay. Rami stops looking for flats to rent or buy in NYC and that’s absolutely okay

they celebrate one year of being roommates with dinner in a fancy restaurant downtown (Rami’s choice) and a walk in the park and when they get home they watch Netflix on Joe’s bed and Joe says ‘if I’d known the only way for you not to ruin a date night was having a date night with you, I’d asked you out sooner’ and Rami laughs until there are tears in the corner of his eyes

they are (more than) okay.

Afraid of heights, meets Kara on the roof anyways. WHAT THE HECK WAS SHE THINKING SCARING SOMEBODY LIKE THAT, JUMPING OFF A ROOF.

Immediately ready to listen to whatever Kara is about to confess and validates her trust, and accepts his friend for exactly who she is - all the time??? #supportive friend

Jack-of-all-trades #2: Tailor (later says that “the Supergirl suit sucked” but that Kara didn’t need it to be amazing anyway.) Still. Makes her supersuit after a few...errors. Also works on this project for days to get it right.

1x02, Stronger Together

tbh, Winn doesn’t get a lot of attention in this episode but

Encourages Kara after her first big mess-up, telling her she’s going to get better, and everything will be ok. #supportive friend

Is Supergirl’s information source and cohort, helping her fight crimes. Can you imagine early Kara Danvers trying to decide which emergencies to respond to first? (Later joined by James) #hero

Obviously jealous of the obvious attraction between Kara and James, but keeps his distance and doesn’t make things difficult.

Jack-of-all-trades #4: Mathematician/Tactician, instantaneous rattling off of an ambulance weight and the amount of newton force Supergirl needs to use in order to, as James puts it, be gentle. #genius

1x03, Fight or Flight

Creates the team’s first base of operations.

Writes and implements an algorithm that is somehow capable of sweeping an ENTIRe CITY for traces of radiation??? So that Supergirl can find one particular villain?? #genius

Is the one to find Krull. -Because of making a connection between radioactivity in Chernobyl and MOLD (it’s a real thing btw) #hero #genius

Okay, but whether or not you ship them, Kara and Winn are having so much fun dancing in this scene, they are too happy. Also, making Kara laugh when she’s stressed. Also, looks to Kara when James interrupts and doesn’t make a fuss when his dance is stolen.

Jack-of-all-trades #5: Dancer - how many IT guys you know who are also comfortable on the dance floor

Empathetic/Perceiving: “Hey, you okay?” the second Kara walks in and he can tell something’s wrong, and then makes an effort to cheer her. #supportive friend

1x04, Livewire

Righteous indignation at Leslie’s slamming of Supergirl/her costume/everything.

“Winn, you’re getting killed.” - “Every day, kid.” will never not be a line that doesn’t hurt.

1x06, Red Faced

Another too-small Winn episode

Is alarmed and against the idea of breaking into the DEO database - as one should be. “That’s treason!” Initially refuses, even knowing it would earn him points with Kara.

“You’re the only one that can help us.” Alex’s words, not mine.

Relents and hacks the DEO anyway for Alex and Jeremiah’s sake. (yes, Kara, pulling the dad card was a dirty pull) #supportive friend

Not relevant but: Winn just casually/insistently pushing James’ arm out of the way of his computer screen after James sits on his desk.

“Wait, does the robot fight mean that game night is cancelled?” #priorities

Finds out about Jeremiah, and is the one to figure out that Hank redacted the files. #genius

1x07, Human For A Day

No, wait, he actually is The Best IT Guy for the job: gets CatCo back up and running in a matter of a few hours after an earthquake. #genius

Supergirl’s #1 Fan and always takes offense when she’s snubbed.

“That’s the story. Ordinary people like you, used to doing mundane and small things, finding themselves in the midst of a crisis doing something extraordinary. Heroes.” Cat said it, not me.

So the first time I saw Winn’s reaction to Kara and James hugging, I thought he was being pretty selfish. But his first words are to remind Kara about Lucy. And even if it’s out of jealousy, he’s concerned. Because he is right when he says Kara can’t have a normal life - she’s shown she doesn’t want one. Winn, maybe better than James or Kara herself, understands what that means. The superhero doesn’t get the guy is a lesson he’s been teaching himself, so of course it’s going to be how he reacts. James has a girlfriend, and Kara would never be able to settle into a human existence.

Is stressed after answering phones for Kara for a bit, but is the one to communicate to an entire floor of trapped people what they need to do, and that they’re going to be rescued. #hero

Uses a screwdriver in the track to keep the elevator door open. Idk if you’ve ever worked with elevators, but that takes maneuvering. #genius

He reaaaaally doesn’t like heights guys.

-BUT pulls people out of the elevator shaft anyway. #hero

Can I just point out this is the second, and will not be the last, time Winn has watched his friend(s) plummet to their inevitable doom?

Not here to justify Winn’s rudeness at the end of the episode, but Kara getting all cuddly with the guy she’s attracted to when he has a steady girlfriend is not a good thing. If it were my friend, I’d be disappointed in them too.

1x08, Hostile Takeover

So not only does Cat call Winn a handsome little Hobbit, she trusts him, and knows that Kara does too. #she gets it

“No one knows the computer systems better than you.” Kara said it, not me.

“Shouldn’t we be focusing on the whole Psycho Aunt Astra is back in town for round two thing?” #priorities

I’m 95% certain Winn’s passive-aggressive turns in these few episodes was a red herring of foreshadowing him to be a villain and I’m vaguely disappointed they didn’t do it a little more because red herrings and foreshadowings are my fave.

If Winn was petty like people sometimes think, he wouldn’t be hanging out on his break with James. Anyone who has lunch or coffee breaks with coworkers knows this is true. #supportive friend

Comes up with the plan to get Armstrong’s files and evidence against him, and runs the whole operation. #genius #hero

When James says he didn’t find anything out from Max Lord, Winn immediately knows he’s hiding something, though Kara is oblivious, and immediately calls him out on it, though he waits for Kara to leave, giving James the benefit of the doubt. #the most empathetic character on television #genius

“Kara’s a little too trusting to notice when you’re lying, but I’m definitely not.” Not many people have given him a reason to trust them. #protect him

1x10, Childish Things

Oh here we go, friends, here we go, this is gonna be long. Full disclosure this episode is mostly sucker-punched emotions

Winn’s voice introducing the episode, yes please.

*insert mini rant about how this is The Worst prison ever (discounting Arkham of course), with horrible safety and security procedures and it’s a wonder they kept the Toyman in there as long as they did*

kudos for casting Henry Czerny as Winn’s dad, he actually looks like he could be Winn’s dad

Winn already looks distracted and sad in his first scene, trying to figure out what the special toy delivery means.

*insert mini rant that Agent Chase is actually pretty incompetent as an Agent and that’s a crying shame*

Winn and Kara’s whole relationship in this episode is about not wanting to change something good. Winn didn’t tell her about his dad because he didn’t want her to pity him

“He wasn’t always crazy, in fact he was a good dad - he was normal.” This is one of the things that causes Winn so much pain, thinking his dad was fine and then just completely snapped without warning, that this could happen to Winn too. I need to point out that Winn is probably wrong, as everything we see about Winslow points directly to a history of emotional abuse and manipulation. I don’t think he was ever actually a good dad. This explains why Winn never sees it when his friends/others emotionally manipulate him now, as James, Mon-el, Alex, Kara, and Lyra have all done at least once. #too loving and forgiving and easily manipulated for his own good

All of the things Winn says describing his dad are things that Winn faces too, hence his fear of becoming like him. #protect him

“You have a homicidal maniac in the family too, so you know where I’m coming from.” #self-deprecating smile

Immediately confesses about the toy as soon as he talks to Kara. (Thank you Kara, yes good) #hero

Talking into the wire. #NERD (I can’t use that every time, just - he is a nerd.)

Creepy place, but makes me think about the time Winslow must have spent there with his son, playing games, and winning toys. Kudos for the sign that says “one way” pointing the other direction as Winn is walking in.

Immediately tells his dad to turn himself in. #hero

After everything, even hating his dad, Winn just wants to help him in the best way possible. #the most empathetic character on television

Feds burst in and Winn just wants to stop anyone from getting hurt. #hero

Kara’s really good in this episode, being a true BFF, have to put that out there. Regardless of their relationship particulars, she is very much the best thing that has happened to him. #supportive friend (Kara edition)

Crossing his arms defensively while talking to Agent Chase, but immediately relaxing his posture when talking to Kara.

Kudos to Jeremy Jordan for taking the extremely melodramatic line “this is my burden” and making it work.

Making corny jokes to get Kara to laugh when he’s the one who needs to be cheered up. #supportive friend

Figures out where his dad is, but despite not wanting to involve Kara, doesn’t do anything stupid, and instead waits to tell her so she, the superhero, can take care of it. #genius

Aside: Winslow Schott Sr is completely cracked like wow

Mad at himself for endangering Kara and immediately wants to call the feds. #priorities

“Well then what’s to stop it from happening to me?!” is so awful ouch. Also, Kara trying to console him and ending up saying exactly the wrong thing. Sucker. Punched. #protect him

This. Whole. Scene. Hurts. Too. Dang. Much. To. Talk. About.

I want to point out that the whole terrible kiss is not completely and only Winn’s fault. Yes, he kissed her. Yes, that was wrong. But he has been in no way subtle about his feelings for her, including: asking her out, telling her she’s what he’s grateful for, saying “this is why you’re not into me” right before finding out she was Supergirl, that little peck on the cheek, Kara saying things like “we’re linked too” and “I would be lost without you” and etc when he is in an extremely fragile emotional state. Yeah. Poor kids.

At once - AT ONCE - apologizes, and excuses himself and honestly with emotions that high, that’s the very best thing he could have done.

HIS DAD WAS LYING IN WAIT. LIKE. HECK. NO.

The whole scene between the two Schotts. Winslow pretending he cares even while he has his son drugged and tied to a chair. Nobody stole anything from Winn and his father except his father himself. #protect him

The conflicting fear and rage in Winn though. *flops*

UM I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE BECAUSE I JUST ASSUMED THEY WERE ZIP TIES BUT WINN IS TIED TO THAT CHAIR BY THE TOYMAN’S MURDER YOYO

“How did this happen to you” may be the most important question Winn has ever asked of anyone in his life, to understand how his dad could become this and if he might become it too, and his dad completely ignores him and doesn’t answer.

Winn: “I am nothing like you.” Winslow: “Don’t underestimate yourself.” That’s it. I’m dead.

The panic on his face as he looks at Dunholtz, his target, and the steely resolve that comes when he looks at a child, someone who will be hurt if he doesn’t go through with this.

And even then. Even then. Winn can’t bring himself to actually hurt someone. #hero

I still am not sure if he says “I’m sorry” to Dunholtz for going to shoot him, or if he says it for the entire room, because he can’t go through with the awful deed and it’s going to kill them all. #the most empathetic character on television

Even after all that stuff Winslow said, he very calmly and coolly activates the bombs that will kill everyone, including the son he pretends to care about, because it really is still all about himself, and about his revenge. #NOT COOL WINSLOW

Apologizes to Kara again and comes clean about it all finally, it’s out in the open. Good.

That sigh at the end. He’s so upset, but there’s also relief. He doesn’t have to hide anything anymore. Now whatever happens, happens. *hugs him*

Last thing: this line gets me every time, and I know it doesn’t mean a thing, but it’s there, it happened. Kara telling Alex: “I screwed up with Winn. I might have ruined something and I don’t know if I can fix it.” Fix it, kids, please. Because Kara and Winn as brotp or otp is life.
