Scillareth, my most villainous salad, a Pact Commander who has taken her goal of uniting the races of Tyria several steps further than necessary

Oh yeah, a while back I got to take a pic and see how tall Ai is compared with Gavin!
In her lore, the two met while still in the Dream, and he was even the first to help her acclimatise to existing, which sparked a romance between them. When he left to awaken in Tyria, she stayed behind due to a feeling (which she would eventually realise to be her Wyld Hunt) which kept her there for several years until the sylvari who would go on to become the Pact commander (Kaushue) was ready to awaken too.
Tragically due to how long they'd been apart, both had forgotten the broader details about the other, and thus didn't recognise one another when they met again :') It wasn't until after she'd killed him that Aileana began to remember more clearly.

my partner got me this outfit! :D
and I knew immediately which two of my unleveled alts it needed to go on: Scillareth and Clerestion
(they are sinister alternate versions of Luci and Ben from a different Tyria)

Oops just realized that since Scilla's actions erase a large chunk of S1 (she was given knowledge of the consequences of Zhaitan's death and prevents it), Canach in the Dawn Timeline is still in his original appearance...

I've decided the method Scillareth uses to place her Elder Dragons in their human vessels is essentially lassoing them with a magic rope

I'm in a shippy mood so here are random OC/canon stuff:
Logan calling himself "your pact marshal" to the commander is 10000% the reason I started shipping Luci with him which I guess makes that line more amusing since they quietly got together with absolutely no fanfare when they thought the world was ending one whole episode ago. Things are kinda awkward in IBS because both Luci and Logan care deeply about what Rytlock thinks and obviously for IBS, Rytlock is busy and distracted and probably not the best time to tell him anything (most others figured it out). Luci manages to sit down and have a proper talk with him and they end up as kind of? An emotional polycule? They're all still together by EoD and Luci probably spent the time between the engagement party and What Lies Beneath with her two boyfriends at Southsun
Since Ben was recovering from being Mordrem for basically all of S3 and PoF and the start of S4, he doesn't meet Gorrik till just before Kourna (he arrived in Amnoon with Faren). Gorrik started telling him about Petey and Ben was immediately smitten. Ben has zero inclination to confess given his poor luck in general and by the start of EoD was sort of enjoying a friendly but unspoken rivalry with Taimi for Gorrik's personal time and friendship....they team up when Ankka happens
The horrible one: since Scilla managed to "unite" Tyria under the banner of the Pact and, as the rumors say, has control of some dragons, Joko invited her to visit Elona. Much to the terror of the average person, they struck up a passionate but very "when are they going to stab each other in the back" style of relationship pretty much as soon as they met
Bikki (Isekai Commander) does her best to not crush on Trahearne because she knows what happens to him. She fails badly and it takes her best friend future lover Lily to convince her to try and change the future because what's the worse that could happen when she already knows the worse things and what works out. She's terrified of becoming the Commander she's admired all her life but commits to it from then on and first kisses Trahearne at the party in Fort Trinity. Trahearne had bonded with her prior to this over nerding about Orr together so while he's surprised, he doesn't turn her down

unf, accidentally cursed myself with thoughts of Joko/Scilla (my villainess commander forcefully uniting her Tyria under the Pact) because a horrible "friendship" between these two was definitely a thing Scilla's world needed

today I sat down and designed Branded Salad's brother and Yulan's sister...I still need to make a ~proper~ post about my various timelines and such, but for now here is a chart of my four pairs of siblings and the timeline they're from!
They are all alternates to each other across worlds but have all taken very different paths :D the main similarity in each pair is that the sisters are the primary commanders of their worlds with the brothers assisting them in the Pact and later in Dragon's Watch (...if it exists in their world).

Scillareth's story begins as one expects:
A Valiant emerges from the Dream, completes their Wyld Hunt, carries out an adventure, then goes on to recover Caladbolg and join an order before their journey leads them to the Pact and Zhaitan's defeat. For Scillareth, this was the White Stag, then meeting Malyck, then the Vigil, and she did in fact help Trahearne bring the Pact together while also striking up a passionate and loving relationship with him.
But this is where it all changes. She meets a strange fortune teller on her way to Orr and changes course after, traveling to a secret location in the Maguuma jungle. It's there she finds Malyck once more, reunited with his own mother tree, and said mother tree has a story to tell her: that of her own future as the Commander, what she must do to the dragons, and who she will lose in the process.
Scilla comes back to the Pact changed, her blue bark turned ashen and white, and armed with a plan and the abilities to pull it off. When Zhaitan falls from the tower, she doesn't go back to Fort Trinity with her husband and the rest of the Pact. She takes with her a young human, a villainous Necromancer she'd captured and forced to serve in the Pact, and approaches the dying Zhaitan.
"Did you know you could die?" she croons to Zhaitan as she treads past debris and ruined ground. Her Necromancer follows close behind her, an eager participant in what she is about to do. "My people did not, until you."
But she doesn't let Zhaitan die. She offers a deal. Serve her, or fade away. Help her do the same to the other Elder Dragons. Help her bring them to heel, and she'll spare them all. Help her take control of her Tyria, and she'll give them free reign to consume magic on other worlds.
It's magic and a device from another world, mysteriously acquired, that she uses to save Zhaitan and turn the Necromancer into him.
When she returns to Fort Trinity, it's with Zhaitan in step behind her and an unexpectedly changing story before her.
✿✿✿
Bonus - a not at all comprehensive list of things that change in Scilla's timeline:
Destiny's Edge collectively considers Scilla's deal with Zhaitan and plan to use the dragons a betrayal so they go off to figure out how they can kill the other dragons themselves
Mordremoth isn't woken up so Scilla recruits Scarlet at some point
Without Scarlet's armies, there aren't refugees in Southsun, Canach retains his original appearance (for now) and then ends up recruited by Caithe
the rest of would-have-been Dragon's Watch also slowly get recruited into Destiny's Edge over time, though the circumstances would be kinda different for sure
Malyck's mother tree (who in this timeline only is someone specific) finds out the result of her telling Scilla the future, so she sends Malyck to find Vlast...they end up bonding over the sort of pressure they both face in their duty (bc the mother tree has. Goals for Malyck) and Malyck becomes Vlast's Champion

Multi-Timeline Lore !
Tumblr media
Part 1... maybe?
I don't know if I'll ever have the energy or brain power to actually make a comjc or a Big Damn Fic abt this so I've just written up some BIG LORE rambling that probably won't make sense to anyone + made a sketchy cover thingy for it-
I have multiple timelines/AUs and the main thread that ties them together is Scillareth's timeline (her people call it the Dawn world) allowing their Elder Dragons to rip open rifts through the Mists and into the other worlds to go eat their magic instead. They've dealt with the Elder Dragons by turning them into anime boys girls and enbies giving them new vessels to inhabit that Scillareth has some power over and for the most part, they're kind of okay with the arrangement (it's complicated feelings for everyone involved) but mostly because they get to do whatever they want in other worlds.
And naturally the Commanders and the Pacts and the Dragon's Watches of the other worlds are not gonna let this happen without fighting back, to varying degrees of success depending on the Commander and which dragon went for their world. Story wise this would start out focused on Lucilaeh's timeline ("Dusk") first, where they're fairly successful at holding a line against Dawn Zhaitan who is invading Sylvan Orr and manipulating the Risen once more.
Things suddenly get personal for Luci because Scillareth starts sending her brother Clerestion into various worlds to assassinate other Commanders, but rather than go for Luci, he kidnaps Benedicuore—her beloved brother—for unknown reasons instead. At this point though they don't really have a good understanding of what's happening and Ben just goes missing—what changes that is @/icebrooding's commander, Kaushue from "Gloom", falling through a rift with Dawn Trahearne in tow being chased by Awakened. Luci helps fight off the Awakened, closes the portal, and then finally gets answers out of Dawn Trahearne about the sudden return of Zhaitan and where Ben was taken to!
(Dawn Trahearne defected from Scillareth's Pact after years of being puppeted by her, disgusted with the way she used the Pact to forcibly "unite" the five races and how she went behind his back on killing Zhaitan. A few rising heroes of the Dawn world—Malyck, Braham, Rox—helped him escape and go on the run. Kaushue had been world hopping for Reasons, encountered him and then the two of them were discovered by Awakened soldiers...who are there because Scilla "teamed up" with Joko—)
Luci won't stand for all of this of course. She wants her brother back but she also very much does not like what Scilla's doing with the Elder Dragons on principle. Especially since the Dusk timeline successfully ended the Dragon Cycle, so she knows how things could have gone, could be better, despite all the sacrifices her world had to make. So Luci decides to use Dawn Zhaitan's portal to jump into the Dawn timeline and start her new heroic quest.
The Pact launches an assault, she and Kaushue and whoever from Dragon's Watch sneak behind enemy lines, etc—they successfully subdue Dawn Zhaitan and make him open a rift. But when Luci and Kaushue go through (DW stay behind to keep an eye on Zhaitan), they find themselves in the Mists instead, which is where they discover they're not the only Commanders officially caught up in all this.
This is where they encounter our other Commanders! So far that'd be:
Bikki (Isekai Commander) and Lily from "Prism", time travelers in their own world from 1000 years in the future who were sent back to become co-commanders by an unknown person. They are there because they found an unattended rift and went through to investigate. These two are pretty much the most level headed Commanders present and are fairly enthusiastic about getting to work with other Commanders and get to the root of the inter-timeline problems. Lily a little more than Bikki. Their world, strangely, was not attacked by any of the dragons, so who knows where that rift came from?
Nepenth (@/icebrooding's courtier) and Ardant from "Torment", our horrible courtiers who hate each other and can barely work together, from their commanders AU—their world was attacked by Dawn Mordremoth and they're here because Dragon's Watch hates them both and someone (Jory. It was 100% Jory) pushed them through a portal in the hopes they could both go away permanently and also take care of the problem at the same time. Ardant is mostly interested in getting out of there and saving his own skin. Nepenth frequently has a gun pointed at him and likely chained themselves together again (first time was in HoT) and has figured he'd see the entire thing through to the end.
Dosa (Branded Salad) from "Crystal" who is probably the strangest one to be here, being a Sylvari Commander who was somehow Branded (answer: was Awakened first). She's here not out of a sense of heroism and stopping the world ending threats, she's here because Dawn Kralkatorrik is encroaching on her world, where her Kralkatorrik won and she's been working with him to eliminate the remaining dragons while he continues to eat up the Mists of their timeline, and she wants to put a stop to the external forces.
This list isn't wholly complete because it'd definitely grow as I get more ideas for Commanders and it is skewed heavily toward Sylvari at the moment and I want to fix that, but these are what I have at the moment.
It's not too fleshed out past this point but the idea is that this group spends a little time in the Mists between worlds, working on finding a way into the Dawn world (Luci has realized that Zhaitan likely tricked them). They do meet various familiar faces along the way but they only make actual progress when they rescue and meet one more Sylvari who calls himself a Commander too—Yulan, a powerful Chronomancer from "Midnight" who lost his sister to the Dragonvoid, and has been traveling the Mists between worlds for some time now. Yulan explains that he's seen each of the Dawn timeline's dragons as they travel to and fro, always coming from the same locations within the Mists, and suggests using the next dragon's rift (probably Jormag idk yet) to finally enter the Dawn timeline.
and...that is pretty much what I've got plotted out other than some vague ideas of where things might go: they probably meet Dawn Joko somewhere in there—could he retake control of Branded-Awakened? Especially one from other timelines the way the Elder Dragons have been taking control of other timelines' dragon minions? Who knows!!! Dosa will find out. They'll also meet the Dawn timeline's group of heroes that do not like what Scilla is doing, basically the Destiny's Edge + the would-be Dragon's Watch + Malyck. They can't explicitly fight the Pact since things seem to have generally gone for the better with the Elder Dragons under control, but most of them just kind of feel like...this isn't right. And with Malyck, they'd definitely meet his mom tree in this timeline because I have that character planned out. Also Malyck is Vlast's Champion here btw and Vlast is probably around? Maybe? I still need to work out too what's going to happen to Aurene but I definitely want her to be involved somehow!
What I do know for sure is that they will eventually discover that Scillareth and her Elder Dragons are in fact being manipulated by someone else who will be the real final boss, but who that is...is gonna have to stay a mystery for now :V
