So, I still haven’t gotten to play the Teal Mask yet, but I’ve sure been thinking about it (because Pokémon lol) and I wanted to draw what I’d want to wear to the festival! Alolan themed of course because I’m me lol, but I think Ultra Nekrozma makes for a really cool mask! (And I put the alolan starters on the outfit instead of the loyal three)

{ ooc. I finished the dlc yesterday arvo so Minor Spoilers (what i Am talking about was shown in the last trailer before it dropped though) and Fun Theorising

I am aggressively eyeing the crystalised tree in area zero's depths and am back on my connection bullshit. Listen it shouldn't be there, there's no other vegetation, terapagos doesn't create energy it crystalises it

And the only legendary we know takes the form of a tree And releases a whole bunch of energy is Xerneas. That and if we want to include snap... Xerneas also is responsible for the illumina phenomenon. And canonically its energy in combination with yveltal's made mega stones. So it wouldn't surprise me if the tree in area zero is a place where xerneas went dormant once, and because it's all in a deep cave/tunnel in a massive crater, the energy it released all just... sits there, and that's what terapagos uses/recycles into tera crystals/energy.

And something something energy can't be created or destroyed which is why over the millions of years terapagos has done its thing, the energy hasnt and wont run out }

what would happen if your pokemon characters had toxic chain?

The Pokémon that formed the Loyal Three were once below-average Pokémon: Okidogi was small and weak, Munkidori was clumsy and dim-witted, and Fezandipiti had short, dull feathers. The Toxic Chains wrapped around their bodies granted them the strength, cleverness, and beauty that they respectively wished for. How the chains were found or created, remains a mystery.

It's actually a fairly good question! I saw you ask @askvekpa the same question and I did a lil think to myself about it. I probably won't do this for everyone, but I can probably give an idea for Ashleigh.

The Toxic Chain seems to enhance one of the Pokemon's biggest flaws and sorta wraps itself around a part of the Loyal Threes' bodies that would make sense for the enhancement. For Ashleigh, that would be her courage.

This isn't saying that Ashleigh is a complete coward, but it's shown that she is VERY protective. She also has PTSD from past trauma that she refuses to address. I feel like the Toxic Chain would wrap around her like a sash, specifically going over her left shoulder and over her heart to show off her new "brave heart".

And just for funsies, I think the species name of "Rattioh" would be good to fit the naming scheme of the Loyal Three. It's a combination of "rat" and "righty-o".

I dunno, something fun to think about!

Finished the DLC yesterday here are my thoughts and theory crafting under the cut. HUGE FUCKING SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE STORY obviously.

I love Kieran. Absolutely fucking nobody is surprised

I hate how the narrative treats him ( and by extension also kinda the protag ) though. You're given no option but to lie about what's DEFINITELY this kid's special interest, causing a whole downward spiral for him, and then the game has them fly back to Blueberry Academy without giving either you or him ANY fucking closure. No option to go and talk to him or anything. And THEN they cut to that scene in his room where YOU are the sole reason for him basically having a mental breakdown?

It's a very frustrating instance of Pokémon having a story it wants to tell and not really giving any branching story paths in order to get to its endpoint. Normally that doesn't really bother me, but maybe it's just because I'm the person that can't stand picking the mean options in games that this time in particular it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Overall, I enjoyed the story though. I'd commit crimes for Ogerpon's happiness. Kieran deserved better. Carmine reminds me of Asuka, but also, girl, you implied you're not a teenager anymore by saying you "never let teenage angst get to [you] that bad", the fact that you remind me of a teenage girl is oof! ( Love to hate her tho. She does her job in the narrative. )

However, having discussed all the canon material, time for me to put on my tin foil hat and share my main theory at the moment: Kieran is being influenced by either the Loyal Three or some other Pokémon that is going to be revealed in part 2 ( maybe this guy from the signboard art ). Or maybe some cryptid from Area Zero but that's more just my RP headcanon brain going apeshit

Carmine and their grandpa kept hammering home the point that stealing the mask was VERY out of character for Kieran, to the point of even scaring Carmine a little, and stealing the mask at all is the same behavior exhibited by the Loyal Three with the other masks. He also exhibits greed in his bid to be the one to catch Ogerpon, and even says himself that he knows it's selfish. And don't think for a SECOND I didn't notice the lights in his eyes periodically going out!!

Could I be wrong and grasping at straws to defend a character that is actually deeply selfish? Yeah, probably! But until we see otherwise I'm thoroughly convinced some sus shit is going on and Kieran isn't currently entirely himself.

I'll go more indepth later, i do have a lot of thoughts, especially regarding the implication of there being multiple deposits of the tera crystals....which :))) Does Continue To Enable my theories btw, which is really exciting!!

It was cute though, briar is sussy but she's hot so 😔 can't fault a woman with a great palette and a corset huh. I loved the blueberry sibling dynamic.

Ogrepon has the most silva vibe of any pokemon ive ever seen i dIDNT REALIZE IT HAD F ANG S??? so that's fun. And i might add ogrepon as a side muse to this blog.

My brain saw 'old traveler who was big and different' and IMMEDIATELY went az. Not to mention he disappears..............implied killed? But also,, hm,, i'm excited to see if he comes back.

It was. okay. A little less than what I was expecting but the bar was low so I wasn't too disappointed. At least ogerpon was cute. I think the story felt a little rushed tbh but that's a Personal Gripe

I hope indigo disk is better (and tbh i have a hunch it will be, since it seems like that's the lore one and this one was more focused on introducing old pokemon back?? Or that's the vibe I got anyway)

If anything I'm more excited at the implications of seeing Perrin with hisuian!growlithe because now I can give my girl a hisuian!zorua to take after her ancestor + have a group of that evo line hidden in Eterna Forest contributing to its Weird Atmosphere and it Makes Sense/doesn't bend the rules. But like. not until we're out of spoiler tag territory
