Screaming, crying, throwing up etc.
For context, I don't use Twitter/X often. I go there like once a month, so this was a complete shock to me.
Anyway, rejoice SINF fandom, we are still getting official writing/art in the year 2023. 🎉🎉🎉

I'm just gonna keep posting two versions of everything until I've decided if I prefer the more saturated or more muted look in general.
I feel like this barely counts as SINF fanart, but I've been thinking about how much scarier the twins' childhood retroactively becomes, once you know how the books end.

Billy: Oh my god they censored it
Dee: Say fuck, Dagon.
Mac: Do it, Dagon. Say fuck.

Okay, but the more I think about it, I'm actually pretty bummed that Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel starts with the two immortal human characters being famous alchemists, and it totally could have been a series about historical alchemists duking it out in the modern day world, and it is.... not that.
Okay, some of the immortal humans are alchemists, and a couple are people who had mysterious/unverified deaths. For the most part, though, it sometimes feels like he just picked famous people like Shakespeare and Joan of Arc, regardless of how much sense that makes.
Like, we could have had a series in which Flamel, Dee, Saint-Germain, Paracelsus, Kircher (not really an alchemist I think but he had the reputation?), and Newton all, like, throwing alchemical magic and shiz around modern European cities.

Here's my design for Dagon which was originally just a quick sketch and then the colouring got a bit out of hand.
The jewelry, clothing, and hair are based on Mesopotamian styles (specifically Sumerian whenever I could find sources). The colours, patterns, and overall design are based on species of fish that are found in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The eyes are based on porcupine pufferfish, because in SINF Dagon is described as having rainbow, iridescent eyes, and puffers have a similar thing going on.
Yes, this is what happens when an historian makes fanart.

I’m rereading Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott for the first time since I was a kid (I’m on book 3, the Sorceress, right now), and I forgot how GOOD it was. I’m on 3 blorbos and counting. All the characters are so morally interesting - there are no black and whites. The female characters are so well written (one is kidnapped in book 1, and then proceeds to (on her own and trapped) be much more successful in her goals than her honestly rather hopeless husband. The characters act consistently, and rarely does it feel like they’re idiots for the convenience of the plot. I love all the ways the myths and legends are incorporated into the book. It’s just so fun, I wish more people knew this series.
