The Inspiration vs the Creations

For some time, I have been thinking about drawing Molluck, Sekto, and the Emperor (from Baldur's Gate 3) because they all could belong to the same phylogeny because they look similar. Mind flayers are born from a parasite which causes the host turn into a mind flayer and they need to eat brains to survive. It just sounds something fitting when thinking about Oktigis. But mind flayers have also psionic powers and great mental abilities, which also makes me wonder what like those 'actual higher species' of Oddworld are, also knowing that Gluks used to practice black magic... I bet that Molluck does have a good reason to be afraid of his investors... I have also thought that if a mind flayer wore a suit, it would look more like an Oddworld character but I did let the Emperor have his armor, even it's quite detailed.

But yeah, I wasn't sure if I wanna draw this idea or not but then it just came to my mind to think about how those octopuses are such intelligent, curious, playful, and endearing creatures but they are often pictured as monsters, aliens and such in fiction, as something evil... I only found this side of them because of Molluck; he made me into them. They are my favourite creatures on our planet now! I just also love to watch those lil fellas doing their stuff. So yeah, I made the octopus doing an usual 'octopus thing': He is observing the trio via imitating their shapes. It's just something they tend to do when they encounter something new.

I'm not sure about Sekto's height but I know that both Molluck and the Emperor are 7 ft tall but Stranger is 9 ft tall and Sekto's host is a Steef, so... The concept art also shows that Oktigis are bigger than Gluks, so I guess that it's close to correct. Man, I feel like Molluck feels himself 'handless' around them, but also small... He kinda just ended up looking tired here... He looks like he need a hug, and a cigar! The drawing is actually kinda small which made this harder to draw (that's kinda the reason why Molluck's expression ended up being like that too) but I guess that they look alright.

But yeah, I also feel like adding that it actually makes me anxious to think about what Molluck might experience next, if he faces his investors... The scene Lorne once described makes me just feel Molluck's fear like it was mine... Also, man, why are so many Oddworld dudes so tall... Well, it's kinda complicated to say if Molluck is tall or not since he uses his hands to walk... His torso has the same length as mine but he has significantly smaller legs. (Yes, I have measured how big he is compared to me precisely.) I personally find it endearing, just how he is big and small at the same time! So, I wish that Molluck didn't feel bad about his body; I wish to give it love and care. And if the next chapter of Molluck's story is gonna be a bad ending for him (being the true ending), I'll give him a good ending. It's just that I love this Gluk so much and love ain't about deserving...

Man, I also would like to add that when I look at my drawings, I see a child... I mean, like a child had drawn them. I'm not even sure if this is a positive feeling or not but I just feel like this when I look at my stuff right now... It makes me feel embarrassed to post this but I still do it... Maybe I feel like I'm stuck, still like I was as a child, spending the most of my time with fictional characters, drawing them, thinking about them... A doctor could tell me that yes, I'm right, but does it really matter. It doesn't really harm anyone that my heart chose Molluck; it just makes me spend a lot time and energy on him and it only makes me feel good. I just don't even really understand relationships well, especially romantic ones... I only noticed Molluck's appearance after seeing myself in him, and it feels like the more I love him, the better he also looks... This is complex stuff.

I really liked the overall vibe of Frost being a cyber Lin Kuei, but I really didn’t like how MK11 treated her character. So I came up with this, the Cyber Frost au. (Sorry about the length, I have had this in my brain for far too long)

It is pretty similar to the canon of MK11 except Frost does not willingly let members of the Lin Kuei be kidnapped and turned into cybers. (That was probably the least Frost-like thing ever) Instead I like to imagine Sektor maybe tricked or manipulated Frost into thinking Kronika was going to exterminate the Lin Kuei and the only way she could stop Kronika was by making herself a cyber. I feel like this would have been a good comparison of Frost’s character and Hanzo’s character. With Sektor tricking Frost similar to Quan Chi manipulating Hanzo.

Sektor would not have told Frost of his true intention of turning all of Kuai Liang’s clan into cybers, rather he would have made Frost believe that only she would undergo this procedure. Also I feel like Kuai Liang would not have told Frost about Sektor, at least not in detail as there was likely very little need to and his history with Sektor is very traumatic. (Also Kuai Liang cannot properly communicate his past suffering for the life of him). As a result Frost has no reason to distrust this old Link Kuei who claims to have fought alongside her father figure and is seemingly willing to help her defend her clan.

After Frost is turned into a Cyber Lin Kuei and under the control of Sektor she could have been forced into the kidnapping of her own clan, who she had vowed to protect. Turning many of the Lin Kuei into Cybers, trapped with her under Sektor’s control.

this probably sounds insane and sorry for the rambling but I feel like it would be a very angst filled alternative to the butchering of Frost’s character in cannon while also keeping the whole cyborg-ice-warrior vibe.

I really like this take on Frost, and I kinda wish that's what we'd gotten in mk11 bc there's so much potential there.

Litke, imagining that this takes place in an AU where she never left the Lin Kuei after attacking Hanzo, so one day she just goes missing and Kuai Liang is terrified that something has happened to her. Meanwhile she's with Sektor who's telling her a bunch of lies that she wants to believe, bc she knows that Kuai Liang's past with the old Lin Kuei wasn't good so to hear that someone who claims to care about him has actually survived/come back from the dead is great

And then Sekto betrays her bc of course he does and she's screaming on the inside as he puppets her new cyber body against her will to make her kill and kidnap her friends and clan members but she can't stop him.

Kuai Liang on the other hand has no idea who has done this, only that the cyber Lin Kuei and Sektor are involved so he and Hanzo head to the factory to investigate

There, he sees Frost and is horrified, assuming that she was the first to be kidnapped and cyberized (true) and immediately trying to free her. The moment she's free the first thing she does is apologize for falling for Sektors lies (which is terrifying bc frost doesn't apologize ever) and Kuai Liang talks her through it

Bc he was forcibly cyberized too, so he's the only person aside from cyrax in this moment who can understand what she is going through. But there's no time for a real conversation bc they have to go fight Kronika and aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh this is such a cool idea!

No offense but I imagine the timelines crossing and funny shit happening like MK1 Bi-Han is on how Lin Kuei is blood and stuff meanwhile prior timeline Cyrax is sweating because he's from fucking Botswana. The man isn't even from the same continent and has no known roots so it'd make stuff really awkward.

Oh, I’m sure there would be many hilarious results with timelines crossing but I feel MK1!Bi-Han meeting the original Lin Kuei, especially in the scenario when he is the “visiting” part, would be a great cultural shock if not a very confusing experience, depending how long he would stay there. For one, I feel he could have a lot of issues with the original Grandmaster, even though both share the idea that Lin Kuei must be independent. 

The one thing that Lin Kuei as an assassin clan is apparently much better than Liu Kang’s version is the openness for outsiders who proved themselves worthy to join - and there is really something disturbing about that difference. At the same time, the meeting between Bi-Han and original Cyrax (or Smoke) could go differently depending if MK1!Cyrax retained its original ethnicity or not. If MK1!Cyrax is still born in Botswana but has a Lin Kuei parent or is descendent from Lin Kuei in further line, then he still can be counted as one with Lin Kuei blood. If he is from Botswana and was adopted into a clan or joined on his own at some point, then MK1!Bi-Han’s accusation toward his brother Tomas makes no sense if there are non-biologically related members of the clan anyway. However, since Bi-Han and Cyrax are implied to be on good terms in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023), to the point Cyrax is absolutely loyal to Sub-Zero, then I feel whatever he has Lin Kuei blood or not in original timeline won’t matter at the end of day. It may surprise or confuse MK1!Bi-Han, but that is still Cyrax - and MK9!Cyrax was very angry about Sub-Zero's death so there is a high chance he still has personal loyalty to Sub-Zero or shares the comradeship with the cryomancer. Also, Cyrax from the previous timeline(s) is not someone you can talk down to and he will accept it meekly, so I imagine the moment MK1!Bi-Han would cross the accepted line and talk anything against Cyrax’s right to Lin Kuei membership, the man would challenge him to kombat or call him out on the nonsense. 

Though whether Cyrax has the right to the Lin Kuei warrior title or not feels like minor concern compared to fact there is a different ruling family (Sektos’s father) and the looming threat of C.I. Projekt is aimed at counterparts of Bi-Han’s family (Kuai Liang & Tomas) and friends (Cyrax & Sektor). So I like to think he would be more busy dealing with that than anything else.

Steef/Stranger

(The following contains spoilers to Oddworld: Strangers Wrath. Proceed with caution.)

The Steef were once a proud race of creatures found within Western Mudos and throughout the Mongo River Valley. Steef notably possess feline-like faces, elongated foreheads, two powerful ape-like arms, four equine legs, and a pair of jagged horns. Steef were mostly solitary but would often live alongside the Grubbs providing otherwise defenseless creatures with protection.

The Steef once acted as the spiritual and physical protectors of the Grubb people, guarding both them and their native lands. Since then the Steef has been reduced to near extinction by the industrial forces that now occupy the once sacred land. Now all that remains of their presents would be the many wall reliefs statues the Grubbs have since been forced to leave behind.

A particular Steef that went under the alias of Stranger worked as a bounty hunter, taking bounties along thr Mongo River Basin. Stranger had risked life and limb to hide his Steef origins wearing boots over his cloven legs and cutting his once long horns. The only other person that knew of his true identity was an experimental surgeon nicknamed "Doc" who wished to surgically remove Strangers hind limbs at the price of twenty grand. Stranger decides to contact an Ocktigi water baron named Sekto, enable to somehow get the twenty grand he requires for his surgery. Strangers true identity was soon uncoverd by a gang of Outlaws who wished to turn in Stranger for Sektos twenty grand steer bounty. After Stranger is saved by a Grubb ambush he picks up the mantle of Steef protector and goes after Sekto enable to return the River back to the Grubb people.

Doggy boy fighting for his life as a crowd of Oktigis (+Sekto), Glukkons and Vamps watch. I don't think their respective mafias would get along but let's pretend they do here so they're drinking and betting in the same room and no one's getting shot down for winning the bet. Made the Vamps a bit more cat-like than the concept art, sorry. This is the scenario I could come up with, I enjoyed drawing this.

I'm still working on his lore, but what i got for now is that he's a hunter, a Steef hunter to clarify. The thing is, he works for Sekto under the threat of being killed if he doesnt comply. A hostage kinda situation if you will. Yeah there's some angsty shit going on because i cannot write stories without angst on them lol.

I had a dream just now where Abe had a special machine just for him where it would massage every area of his body. It had a transparent mask (like ones in the hospital) over his mouth and nose, an eye mask like the ones for diving and it was more like a sleeping bag than anything else, and there was also a part that would be put on Abe’s head to massage his forehead, cheeks and scalp. He’d use it all the time to relax after events of Soulstorm, For some reason Striker from Helluva Boss was hunting him in the dream and he held Abe in this machine for a while to restrain and relax him. And then it was revealed that ‘Striker’ was just Sekto disguising himself. Striker was kneeling over Abe in a garden and asking him what he was looking at, and Abe just talked about how nice of a day it was, how pretty the flowers were and how grateful he was to be alive with his followers in this very drowsy, relaxed voice. Needless to say, something like that would be heaven for our poor stressed Mudokon Messiah…
