i honestly cannot picture sha-mod having parents or family, it doesnt make sense in my head, he has to have just spawned in or something

i feel like mclovin would have a really big and friendly family tho and sha-mod would always be welcome to come around so he and mclovin can hit fruits with baseball bats in the garden and stuff

there's an edge of realism to the relationships in tts, as ridiculous as many of them are, that I really appreciate. like, yes. of course. of course these goofy teenagers would do all this.

michela poking fun at max's music taste, shalovin drawing each other dinosaurs and talking about climbing the hill behind the walmart, bonsar being unsure about everything and so self-conscious about it, juluffy situationship, patulia extremely toxic show couple. this is LITERALLY what teenage relationships are and I for one really appreciate that in writing about teens

director's commentary 4

***SPOILERS***

so, first off, big thank you to mod michael for giving me some pointers on what to do for this episode theme. I have never watched a mob movie in my life.

secondly: sorry to the fans about today's elimination. the primary reason I chose bonnie to leave early is just because this is not their season. I want to do more with them in the upcoming seasons, too, and it'd be weird to try and cram in 3 or 4 different plots just about them. tta is more for the early boots and those who didn't get a lot of time in tti. as we move on, more and more characters who made it far in the original will get boots. I think only one of the final 10(?) makes it far. and even then, they didn't really get a lot of growth in tti.

in my original draft for this episode, I wrote a kiss for bonsar. but it didn't sit right with me. the timing, the circumstances, the episode that preceded it just didn't go down well. and, well, it's been bothering me for a few days now, so today I went into the drafts and edited it out, choosing to leave the ending less explicitly romantic.

to me, bonsar isn't that traditionally romantic. actually, most of the canon pairings in tt aren't! I wanted to give each some individuality and substance, and I want to avoid the td mistake of just throwing people together because They Can.

kellaustin (specifically in tti) is polyamorous and it WASN'T the reason they broke up, to add on, maxchela has a variety of layers to it that I'd ideally like to explore in the future, shalovin also has a lot of potential for future writing, and so on. even the fanon/speculative pairings like juluffy are unconventional. I try to add a little flavor to everyone.

but for me, I just can't sit with the idea that bonsar is just romantic, but it's also not just platonic either. they kind of exist in that realm between being partners and being friends where, no, they're not technically dating, but also, they could never date anyone else, either. they're extremely important to each other and just couldn't share that bond with anyone else.

and I think that's okay! some people might read it differently, but to me, it works for them.

so no, there was no maxchela-like kiss at the elimination, because bonsar isn't maxchela, and maxchela isn't bonsar. but, bonnie and caesar not having a grand romantic moment does not take away from their bond. if anything, I think it strengthens it.

Ok opinions: I wish mod joner stuck around longer. I love kitrick and I really have no opinions about mod fren. Assney is my fave ship so far. Max reminds me of a little rodent scurrying around inside a wall (/positive). Kellaustin is this season’s Lyler because it’s wholesome but also a little boring. Frollo is hilarious. Shalovin is endgame. I can’t really see the vision behind bonsar but I’m not opposed to it. I think we’re all overlooking kitty x scary. Unhinged girlfriends. Julia x Michael is also cute. I wish mal had stuck around longer too. I can’t believe Staci is the only one talking about kins when there’s so many obvious kinnies on tti. I also loved O, and I felt so bad for him in phobia factor. Um, I think that’s all my opinions so far. Oh yeah, and I hope mod Peter griffin is living his best life in the resort.
