In Oisein’s found family portrait one of the sheevra have more animal like ears rather than “elf” like. Is there a specific reason why? Do all of them have the chance to have animal qualities? What other animal traits can sheevra have? Pointed teeth, tails, hooves, claws? Whats the limit? Sorry if this have been answered!

No worries! And for Heleen, there's no specific reason other than I thought it looked nice/suited her design haha. The type of sheevra the MC is are able to have certain animal traits, though the shape of their body and limbs is primarily closer to human. The game will only mention the traits decided so far for the sheevra MC features just because of variability, but the ones you've listed would be within the realm of possibility!

Technically yes, though generally, siblings among the sheevra work in more of a found family sense or like adoptive siblings. The Moirae siblings seem comfortable enough with the label, but is there more to it? 🤔

so we know sheevra aren't supposed to be able to fall in love or have strong feelings for each other, but do they hook up with each other? is physical attraction between sheevra also a no-no? is this whole thing spoilers? i am very curious and invested in this world you've created, can't wait to learn more about the lore and the characters! <3

Hmm, so physical attraction between sheevra is sort-of in the same boat as far as stigmas go - but it's a lot more widely accepted. i.e. - it's seen as a surface-level "blowing off steam" physical need. So yes, they do hook up with each other. Oisein has had friends-with-benefits encounters with the two sheevra that get mentioned in some of their side stories, Mav and Heleen.

Sheevra would never mention if they thought there was a deeper connection involved, though, or else would write that off as just being caught up in the moment.

hi parker! i have a question on deals, can one sheevra make a deal with the same mortalis multiple times? eg if they have the person’s name already, does that prevent any further deals w that person? vs a more minor deal!

Hiya!! Yes! In fact using multiple deals is a strategy to eventually work up to a name...basically making someone desperate or addicted enough to what a sheevra can offer to eventually trade their name away.

But - as that implies - once a sheevra has someone's name, they've achieved the end goal. So while the name being taken doesn't technically prevent any further deals, that particular mortalis wouldn't really have much else to offer and you'd be hard pressed to find a sheevra willing to make more deals with them.

The ask about eyes and sheevra form has me curious; I know you were asked before about wings and/ or tails, but I can't recall if you made a decision? Hi! So to some extent - tails would be within the realm of the MC's features, and probably something more like feather-like features along the MC's arms or back - but not full-fledged wings.

That being said, I think these won't be mentioned explicitly in game, and the features that are included already will be the main ones mentioned in descriptions of their sheevra form!

hii i love the nameless soooo much <3 i was so excited when i first looked at it and found out oisein was genderlocked with he/they pronouns (so hard finding he/they or they/he rep, or even just genderlocked nonbinary rep in general) also sorry if this is a silly question but how many eyes can the player have in sheevra form? i know they're generally more humanoid in build and amount of limbs so are we limited to two?

Not a silly question at all! I think originally I was a little more unsure about the sheevra forms, but yes it is limited to more humanoid features, so a sheevra MC specifically would have two eyes!

Are Sheevra immortal? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I just can't remember if it's explicitly stated anywhere

Hi! Not a dumb question at all! I also can't remember if it's been explicitly stated anywhere here yet but it's mentioned very briefly in a Patreon special and will come up eventually in game. 👀

I think I've used the term fairly loosely before, but the only sheevra who seem fully immortal in the traditional sense are the High Sheevra. For humanoid sheevra like the MC, they do have a longer lifespan than the average mortalis - usually a few hundred years. Eventually, sheevra begin to "fade": they lapse and then fully reenter a state very similar to the Haze that marks the beginning of their lives, and the High Sheevra helps them pass on.

I'm the biggest fan of all the High Sheevra, I know they fucked up, I'm sure of it, but their vibes are spectacular, so who cares ✨💍 Anyways, question: do they still make deals with mortalis like the rest of the sheevra? And if so, what's their preference in deals? Like, what's their poison 👀💚

Ooohhh (I cannot confirm or deny the fucked-up status for now but 👀)

They definitely don’t make deals as often, with the exception of Clo, Kehs, and Atra, who are a little more hands-on and do make deals every now and again. They prefer dealing in time.

Sirin avoids the city and mortalis if they can help it, and that’s a similar case with Itzal and Tlali. If the Clan Obsidian pair do go into the city, they'll usually only go together.

While Sirin tries to avoid making deals as much as possible, they prefer manipulating or taking memories. Itzal and Tlali tend to prefer trading in health and the physical state of the body.

Tacita doesn’t mind being among the city and the mortalis, but tends not to make deals. She’s only been pushed to it a couple of times in the past few years - usually when a mortalis has been desperate and a-little-too-loud about trying to find a sheevra, and it required more cleanup/coverup than usual. She prefers trading in secrets and knowledge.

For the answer on the sheevra forms, no not all of them are complicated! (though all fabulous maybe? 😌) The Sanctum spirits themselves can sometimes just appear as small globes of light. For example - spoilers! - in the flashback to the Equinox in Saor in Chap 4, the fireflies described would be considered sheevra. The forge spirit sheevra that made the MC's earring would also be more like a small elemental spirit.

Tl;dr, there's a whole range of different forms! It's just specifically in the case of The Nameless MC that they’re more like mortalis in stature and have detailed markings. C:

Hello author! Quick lore question: if a mortalis wants to seek a deal with a sheevra (like willingly looking around for a sheevra), are there any in-world tales that guide them in that direction? Is there magic involved, rituals, something like that? Thank you! 🧡

👁👄👁!!!! Hoooo okay I was waffling on answering this because spoilers, but yes there are absolutely ways to find the sheevra depending on if you know where to look. The first deal with the grieving lover hints that they may have found you on purpose - though for them, it was more of following rumors and the MC sensing the desperation, which is one way that someone seeking the sheevra might chance upon them.

I'd like to keep the details light, but what I can say about a more direct way that might be available is that there aren't necessarily rituals in the sort of...magic summoning circle sense. It's more of a series of steps that a mortalis would need to go through -and even then, there's no guarantee that they're able to connect to the sheevra. Plus, for a mortalis, seeking the sheevra purposefully is extremely taboo and can be punished severely, so you'd (generally ) never hear someone casually asking around about how to make a deal.

And as one more fun fact, the MC wouldn't know about the latter of the two methods 😶

Apologies if this was answered somewhere before, but was wondering: what determines the kind of price a mortalis has to pay for sheevra favors? I get there's probably no official pricelist at clan HQ, but there's gotta be some way freshly hatched sheevra are taught how much to ask for X type of wish? And if it's okay to ask, why was the price of seeing a mirage of their lover so high for Evan(ine) (sorry, I just feel for them, a lot, hit right in the feels)? Thank you for the wonderful game! ♡

No worries at all! 🥰 So admittedly this part of the magic is a little more “it’s magic✨” in my brain haha. But I can do a better job explaining in game 😖 (also I’m dying at the image of like a pricelist at corporate skyscraper sheevra HQ aksjdjskdsk)

It basically boils down to balancing two factors:

What something is worth to the mortalis, and

What they're willing to give.

What makes sheevra deal magic really special is because of a certain (spoilerrific) trait, they can get a fairly clear sense of these two things. The first few deals for a sheevra definitely tend to be unbalanced, with most sheevra being laughed away for asking a ridiculous price or else not getting a great exchange themself. Eventually once they have the knack of it, like any good negotiator, they’d often push the balance between the two to try and get a little more.

(Depression/depressed thoughts tw for this particular deal, please take care ❤️)

The lovers deal was extremely, heavily skewed by what the mortalis was willing to give. They had basically given up and were at their lowest point when they approached you, and didn't really want to be in control anymore. Being your first deal, you'd be remiss not to try and take their name when it was right there being willingly given.

How any of these greyish deal impacts your MC, though, is for you to decide.

How does gender work for sheevra? (Gender norms, transitions, AGABs, etc)

Extremely fluidly haha. In the world of The Nameless, there aren't really gender norms at all because I despise them and transitions are just a part of life if you so choose for both sheevra and mortalis.

With the culture around names, people don't really blink an eye at false name changes and switch pretty easily, and the same applies to pronouns or other parts of gender identity. When you're close to someone, you're more connected to the core feeling of their magic and energy.

Though that's not to discount transitioning or say transitions aren't valued or celebrated as well. They're usually seen as another indication that someone is about to learn their true name - or else if they already know that, it's seen as a vital step to being closer to their true self and magic.

This has probably been answered somewhere already, but I'm not finding it - When a mortalis gives a sheevra their name, does something *automatically* happen? Or does the sheevra have to do something? Like, if the Healer decided to share his name with MC, would that automatically be... bad?

Ooh I don’t remember if it has! But no there is no automatic deal that occurs, so it is technically safe to share your name with a sheevra…it’s just generally ill-advised of course 👀

Hello! First off your writing is very good and I’m enjoying the nameless very much! I had a question! I’m admittedly not very far in yet so if this is answered later in the game or is a spoiler feel free not to answer, but what would sheevra prosthesis look like? I’ve seen a little of the magesmith (mostly on here) so would it be similar? Would dryads replace missing limbs with limbs made of whatever plants used to be there? Anyways I hope you’re having a good day!

And ooooh an excellent question! Depending on how the relationships develop between certain characters and what paths you choose this has the...potential to be light spoilers 👀

But yes there's many options when it comes to prostheses in general in the world! A lot of it varies by region - you'd see a lot more metal based/colored ones in Renescen, more pearlescent/jeweled and aesthetic aimed ones in Han, more organic designed/based ones in Saor, and more elemental energy based/free flowing prosthesis in Braka.

Sheevra prosthesis would likely fall into those patterns depending on where they're from or where the prosthesis is made.

And also, do mortalis know about this cute creatures or do they only live with sheevra? *gasps* Are there other species of cross-animals in the game? Very important lore questions, I know.

I actually imagine them sort of in-between, like kitten sized? They primarily live around the Sanctum and near sheevra, so there are rumors among the mortalis of these cross-species, but not definitive proof.

And yes there are! Each sheevra clan’s Sanctum has a few native ones, mainly smaller species. They can also be taken as indicators for the…hmm…“health” or vitality of the clan and its magic if that makes sense. To see a Sanctum silent and completely devoid of these unique species is generally a Very Bad Thing. 🙂
