“is this a game to you?”
thomas bordeleau x fem reader
22. “we’re just hooking up, it’s nothing serious”
36. “yeah, i am jealous”
word count: 1k
warning; cursing
thomas has always been cocky, you could tell from the day you met him. he knows the power he holds over girls, but you’re the only one who never truly fell under his charm. yes, you think he’s attractive, but you don’t just sit there and fawn over him. that’s how you won him over, you know your worth, and he finds that to be the most attractive thing a girl can do. he hates how much girls just throw themselves at him, he loves a chase. eventually his charm got to you, and you began seeing each other casually, with no strings attached of course.
“i’ll see you sometime this week yeah?” he asks you, running a hand through his bedhead. “yeah, i’ll text you. or you text me, doesn’t matter” you say, slipping your shoes back on. he walks you out of his apartment, leading you to the door. he gives you a kiss on the cheek, as you do your walk of shame down the hallway of his apartment complex. the walk of shame you seem to be doing more and more often.
you’re sure that you’ll see thomas at this party one of your guys’ mutual friends is hosting at the club, so you don’t bother texting him at all during the week. you guys really only hookup if it’s after a party, or after one of his games. you both have to work during the week, so weekends are your guys’ best friend, despite some of his hockey games being out of state.
you sloppily throw an outfit together and touch up your makeup before leaving for the party. you uber to the club, since you have every intention of getting shit-faced tonight. once you arrive you can already smell the sweat and alcohol in the air. you look around for anyone you know, and see a few people having a joint conversation with one another. you decide to get a drink first to loosen up your system slightly.
as you’re standing waiting for the bartender you notice a tall man sit down at the barstool next to you. you glance over at him, and see him smiling at you. “hi, i’m jackson.” he beams. “i’m y/n, nice to meet you!” you exclaim, returning the favor and giving him a cheerful smile. “let me pay for your drink yeah?” “oh no, you don’t need to do that!” “i insist, a pretty girl like you doesn’t need to be buying her own drinks” he says, making you blush.
he pays for your drink, and you both begin chatting. one strong drink in your system is already loosening you up, and before you know it, your hand is on jackson’s bicep as you’re laughing at his stupid commentary. you feel a gaze burning into your cheek, and as jackson orders you both a round of shots, you take it as an opportunity to look around. you’re met with thomas’ gaze from across the entire room, as he grips the neck of his beer bottle tightly. you smirk, knowing exactly what you’re doing to him. you turn around to face jackson as you both lift the shot glasses full of tito’s to your lips. your head falls back as the liquid goes down your throat, leaving a burning sensation. just like thomas’ gaze.
the buzz in your system tells you to take jackson to the dance floor, and he follows as you take his wrist in your hand. you loosely dance against him, your body’s clashing together as the multi-colored lights shine above you. thomas is still watching you, his jaw clenched, and this doesn’t go unnoticed by you. you pull yourself closer to jackson, taking in the strong smell of his cologne.
suddenly you’re pulled away from jackson by your wrist, and taken into a random bathroom. you already know who it is, and a smirk appears on your face as thomas locks the door. “hey pretty boy, long time no see” you say cooly. “oh piss off with that shit. the fuck are you doing y/n? is this a game to you?” he asks, all seriousness in his tone.
“a game? what are you talking about?” you ask, obviously playing dumb. “will you quit playing dumb for one god damn second?!” he groans, making you chuckle a little. “why were you all over that douche?!” “first of all, he’s not a douche, he bought me drinks. second, why does it matter? me and you, we’re just hooking up, it’s nothing serious” you say, mimicking the words you both had once agreed on.
“i don’t usually call girls back after a one night stand, but you’re different. you don’t fall at my feet and just throw yourself at me, i’m interested. if you wanna keep seeing each other i’m more than down, but i don’t really do the dating scene, just so you know.” he stated.
“no yeah, we’re just hooking up, it’s nothing serious.” you agreed with him.
“yeah exactly, no strings attached?”
“yup, no strings attached”
you’re snapped from the memory when thomas speaks up again, “yeah we’re just hooking up but jeez are you that oblivious?” “oblivious to what? are you jealous, bordeleau?” you smirk, knowing the cocky boy in front of you would never admit defeat. he remains silent, his eyes still piercing into yours.
“cmon tell me, cause if not i’d much rather go back out there to the guy who’s actually giving me attention” “yeah, i’m jealous. you drive me fucking crazy, y/n. i never wanted to develop feelings for you, but i did. i doubt you feel the same way since we agreed no strings attached, but jesus you drive me crazy. you’re the only person who intrigues me, and you’re just so gentle with me. i crave your touch every night i spend alone.” he admits, finally breaking.
“i like you too, idiot. why else would i be trying to get your attention all night?” you chuckle, rolling your eyes jokingly at his stupidity. “i don’t know, cause you’re mean” he shrugs. “if i’m mean then what are you?” you laugh, making thomas roll his shes. “oh shut up and kiss me already, no need to be rude” he says, leaning in, you doing the same. you guys meet in the middle, and instantly place your hands all over each other. your hands play gently with the curls at the back of his neck, while his wrap around your waist loosely.

GUHHH
After watching the thing a few more times I can't help but appreciate the Bounty Hunting team fr.
They ALL just have such defined movesets and personalities ALREADY, even if we've just seen them in action they just have a special place in my heart now fr fr.
Sunglasses being the team leader, calling the shots, just having this aura of confident ability considering that he squared up against BOTH Chosen and Second no problem AND schooled them. He's definitely going the one that gets the most screen time.
Warning Signs was also good and just the best source of unintentional comedy due to their limited animation but also just having the biggest vibes of being capable as fuck but also somewhat dumb lmao. THE LOCAL HIMBO OF THE GROUP, IF YOU WILL.
Pixel was, bar none, the second most badass of the group. The TINEY POWERHOUSE WHOMST I LOVE FR FR. Fucking murked several sharks, can make GIANT ASS SWORDS. I just love characters who are small but also just exceedingly strong.
Caveman Drawing is the least thoughts BUT they are still cool as fuck fr fr. Love the whole transformation thing they have going on, very lovely.
In general, I love these guys, I wanna see ALL OF THEM MORE. And just, I wanna see them interact with eachother, what are their dynamics with one another and just JHYJBHJGHJJGHH A BIT FERAL FOR THEM FR....
Ava spoilers!!
Also the fact that sunglasses guy didn't overshadow his pals is so good. It's like he's letting them have their moment before absolutely rocking the shit out of the hollowhead duo. Like he's perfectly capable of 1v2-ing second and chosen now that chosen is rendered weak and second is mainly in the defensive.
It could be just tactical or just a way for them to show off their perks to the audience but eh it's a nice thought to have.
Bathroom sign guy is so funny USBUSBS really makes you underestimate the guy because of his animation but he did kicked the absolute shit out of second 😭😭
PIXEL GUY IS SO COOLSBBS SJ LIKE HAVE YOU SEEN FLIPNOTE STUFF??? THEYRE SO COOL BRO ITS JUST PIXELS BUT IT'S ALMOST AS GOOD AS ACTUAL ANIMATION AND ITS JUST PIXELS BRO!!! THEYRE MY FAVOURITE HDBDUSBSJ
I love the interpretation of caveman being all inky and sketchy. Helps with the vibe USNJS also the fact that they use like, spears and arrpws and the others are just shill woth that USBUSHS
I like to think Caveman just brings an entire freshly killed boar to the bounty hunter gang and go "I have boar. We eat!! Hope you love :))" and the others are just "thanks man just roast it over here that'd be great"
Tumblr media
But fr i'd love to see them interact and what theyre dynamic is. I love to imagine theyre homies.

Then, the focus shifts to the eagerly anticipated charity event, where laughter, strengthened bonds, and a touch of romance create an enchanting atmosphere.

Warnings; none
Author's Note: With Christmas on the horizon and the MLSE's fictional charity event approaching, I want to clarify that this event is entirely a product of imagination and not rooted in reality. I apologise if the chapter delves extensively into the gala's details, but my aim was to vividly convey the event's atmosphere. As always, I hope you find this chapter filled with evolving emotions enjoyable.

“I look at you and I fantasise - You're mine tonight”

Wednesday 30th - SJS 1  @ TOR 3
Wednesday turned out to be a proper nightmare and complete chaos at the office. To everyone's (insert sarcastic tone) delight, the managers had set an important deadline for the end of the following month, which turned everyone into tiny tornadoes resembling headless chickens.
Julia, on the other hand, found it rather amusing. Sure, she'd be swamped with work herself, and there was no doubt her patience would be pushed to the limit - but, nonetheless, December and Christmas held a special place in her heart. It was her absolute favourite time of the year, and despite all the chaos and sky-high stress levels at the office, she wouldn't let it get to her. During this special time of year, she’d always have a talent for keeping her mood and spirit high, soaking in all the happiness and joy, the Christmas music and lights on the streets along with snowy (or rainy in the UK) days, where one could cosy up inside with hot chocolate, a movie and a soft blanket. All mixed with the stress of purchasing presents causing small financial crises, too much food and weight gain, and fighting within each family arguing who makes the best turkey or cranberry sauce. Oh yes, she did love it all.
And to top it all off, Charlie added a little romantic Christmas spirit of her own.
"Finally," Julia chuckled warmly as she took her seat at her desk, facing Charlie, who had just shared some exciting news, following their morning briefing – she and Auston had officially become a couple, sealing the deal, and announcing themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"What do you mean 'Finally'? We've only been going out for, what, three months..." Charlie said, playfully raising an eyebrow from across the desk.
“Perhaps so, but you two have been acting like a couple for weeks now, so it was only a matter of time before you put a label on it," Julia explained, sharing a light chuckle.
Charlie, always quick with a witty remark, couldn't resist teasing her friend. "So, what's your and William's excuse?" she commented, her laughter filling the air.
Julia, slightly baffled, yet with a grin across her face, was just about to respond with a comeback of her own when Andrew came and interrupted the girls' heartfelt conversation. "Saved by the bell," Charlie cheekily remarked.
And then the workday returned to its oh-so-joyful, hell-like atmosphere. But today's good news was that the girls had plans to attend tonight's home game.
And what a game it turned out to be.
The first period held nothing but the players skating back and forth, with shots on goal where every puck was saved by both goalies. The second period then brought about some excitement as Auston scored the match's first goal, putting the Leafs in the lead. However, the joy was short-lived, as the San José Sharks managed to secure a tie before the period ended.
The excitement in the arena was palpable.
As the game progressed into the third period, it was as if the break had worked some magic for the Leafs. Engvall and Marner emerged as dominant forces, taking control of the game, much to the delight of the fans.
The crowd erupted with joy as the Leafs secured a resounding 3-1 victory for the home team. It was a sweet triumph, and the atmosphere was electric.
"Hey!" Mitch couldn't contain his excitement, shouting as Stephanie rushed to embrace him with a kiss. Charlie followed suit, greeting Auston with a warm embrace, and Tessa did the same with Mo. Laughter and affection filled the air.
Julia, though, found herself standing alone amidst the joyful embraces, and with a playful tone, she quipped, "Oh, that's right; I've got no one," earning a chuckle from the group.
"Oh, that's hurtful,“ William, never one to miss a chance to tease, said with a grin, as he joined the gathering with the rest of the Swedes. Julia simply chuckled at his playful remark, embracing him into a hug, and they all began chatting about the upcoming month, filled with various events. The charity event was of course a major topic of discussion, but they also shared their plans for Christmas, which was drawing closer.
"Any exciting plans, JJ?” Auston, curious as always, turned to ask Julia, with his hand wrapped around his new girlfriend. “Are you going home to England or Denmark?”
Julia gave a gentle shake of her head, a hint of disappointment in her voice as she replied softly, "Unfortunately, not. We've got an important deadline on the 22nd, so I've decided to stay here." Understanding nods of agreement spread among her friends, acknowledging the sacrifice she was making for work.
“You're okay with that?" Mitch expressed his concern.
And simply Julia reassured them with a warm smile. "Of course," she chuckled. "Besides, both my brothers are celebrating with their girlfriends anyways, and my mum is with her new fling, and my father is with my grandmother, so it’s all good" she explained.
"So, you don't have any plans at all?" Rasmus asked joining the conversation.
"Well, actually, a colleague of mine, John Evans, has invited me and my boss, Andrew, to spend the evening with his family," she revealed, piquing the group's interest. "It's apparently something they do every year – they open up their home to those who don't really have anyone to spend the evening with. Though usually, not many people show up, but I thought it sounded like a great idea, so I offered to join in and help."
"That's really sweet,” Stephanie expressed her admiration, “I mean, we'd obviously offer for you to join our family, but-"
"It's okay, Steph,” Julia interrupted her with a warm smile. “I'm all good," she reassured her friend.
"But it sounds like a great initiative,” Mitch chimed in, adding his thoughts. “There are probably also guys on this team who don't have their families around and can't go home because of the sport."
Julia beamed and flashed a great smile. "Well, actually, they're all very welcome at our Christmas," she said, her warmth radiating. "I mean, it's open to everyone, and no one should be alone on Christmas eve, right? So, if anyone on the team wishes for a place to stay on the 25th, they are more than welcome to come along."
The group of players was genuinely intrigued by Julia's generous offer, and they began discussing among themselves whether this could be a viable option for them.
William, in particular, couldn't help but smile at her incredible generosity. She had a way of effortlessly making everyone on the team feel like family, and her warm smile and genuine concern for their holiday plans touched their hearts. Christmas could indeed be a challenging time for professional athletes, far from their families, and Julia's offer of a warm and welcoming celebration sounded like a perfect alternative.
With a friendly grin, he leaned in closer to his English friend, giving her a friendly squeeze, silently showing his appreciation for her. Amidst all the chatter about holiday plans and the laughter of friends, William felt grateful for the amazing friend he had in Julia.
**
Thursday finally arrived, marking the big night for MLSE's tenth Annual Benefit for Underprivileged Children - the Christmas gala.
Unfortunately, Julia found herself buried under a heavier workload than usual, which forced her to stay back at the office longer than originally intended, but, on the brighter side, Charlie had enough free time to meet up with the rest of the significant others to get ready for the event together. This left Julia alone, doing her best with her hair and makeup in the office’s restroom, with Camille on FaceTime of course, providing her with her stylist expertise. And fortunately, Andrew had offered to drive her to the gala, given he’d too had stayed back to finish of the work of the day.
As the eventful evening was about to unfold, the group of Maple Leafs hockey players and their significant others gathered in the grand hall of the hotel, sharing their thoughts and feelings about the wonderful atmosphere and aesthetics of the gala. It was a night when everyone came together to show their love and support for the community, giving back to those less fortunate.
William, however, was feeling slightly out of place as the only one arriving without his date. Auston had an arm around Charlie; Mitch stood next to his fiancé Stephanie; Mo held Tessa closely; Tavares had Aryne und his arm; even Rasmus had his young blonde date by his side, standing next to Timothy, who had managed to bring his long-time crush - a feat that William had helped him achieve.
A light feeling of disappointment ran through his heart, though he knew that Julia would arrive as soon as she could. He understood how important her work was to her, and if anyone would understand her priorities, it should be professional athletes. And to his luck, his disappointment was cut short as Charlie spoke out, "Oh, yes," spotting Julia slightly nervously descending the staircase, her entrance prompting the rest of the group to turn their heads in the same direction.
And William couldn't hide his excitement as he saw his date for the night gracefully making her way down the stairs. Julia was dressed in her royal dark blue, floor-length gown with a daring slit that revealed a hint of her leg with each step. Her blue and golden heels peeked out beneath the dress, giving her 5”2 a few more inches, and her hair was elegantly styled in a low ponytail with loose curls. Her makeup was bold and striking, yet it enhanced her natural beauty, and her golden jewellery matched her clutch perfectly.
"Hey, Willy, I think you've got a bit of drool... right there," Justin Holl joked, teasing William as Julia reached the bottom of the stairs. And the comment wasn’t without reason, as his face showed nothing but pure admiration, looking intensely at the blonde woman, making her way into the hall.
“Oh, shut up,” William chuckled, trying to regain his composure, and started walking towards his absolutely stunning date, where she greeted him with a radiant smile.
"Hey," she spoke softly. "I'm sorry I'm late."
William couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "It's okay – just glad you didn’t leave me hanging."
"So, do I look alright?” Julia asked, an almost concerned smile appearing on her face, making him pause for a brief moment, letting out a deep breath.
"JJ, you look…" he struggled to find the words. "You look amazing," he then managed to articulate, even though a dozen other adjectives were running through his mind to describe her beauty.
Her smile grew wide. "Well, you did pick out the dress.”
"Maybe, but I didn't do the rest," William chuckled, gesturing to her impeccable styling. “It looks good.”
"Thanks, you don't look half bad yourself,” Julia chuckled, admiring William's dark blue, almost black tailored suit. His unruly hair had been nicely tamed, and his scruff was neatly trimmed. And most importantly, no moustache.
"Thanks, JJ."
With smiles lighting up their faces, William extended his arm, which Julia gladly accepted, and they walked back to the group together. She greeted the other guests with a warm smile, and they all exchanged compliments and kind words.
Of course, Rasmus couldn't resist a playful remark. "Didn't know you could clean up like this," he cheekily joked, giving Julia a compliment in his own mischievous way.
"And here I thought I might actually get a genuine compliment from you, Sandin," Julia replied with a playful smile, which earned a chuckle from the Swede. "But I'm just impressed you actually managed to find a date for yourself," she fired back with a wink.
“She drew the short straw,” William added, wearing a cheeky grin, which earned hearty laughter from the group and a playful huff from Rasmus.
And so, the group made their entrance into the gala, each holding a glass of champagne, their faces adorned with broad smiles, and their spirits soaring with joy and happiness.
The evening's hosts extended a warm welcome to all the attendees, sharing a few words and introducing the various groups and companies gathered for this worthy cause. The Maple Leafs, accompanied by their dates, found their seats, and before long, dinner was ready to be served. The atmosphere buzzed with vibrancy, and the room brimmed with excitement and happiness. The decor exuded elegance without going overboard, and a live band played lively jazz tunes, adding to the festive atmosphere. Tables were set with exquisite china, crystal glassware, and stunning floral centrepieces that added a touch of sophistication to the occasion.
Julia and William found themselves engrossed in lively conversations, discussing topics ranging from hockey to the upcoming holiday season with Sandin, Liljegren, Holl, and Kampf. Laughter and enjoyment punctuated their words, making it easy to forget the outside world and revel in the warmth of the moment. At the neighbouring table, Mitch and Auston, along with their dates, Tavares, Murray, and Rielly, engaged in their own animated discussions. The clinking of cutlery against plates created an anticipatory symphony as the gala's culinary delights began to arrive at their tables.
The starters were served to all the guests with an air of sophistication. Each plate held seared scallops atop a bed of mixed greens, elegantly drizzled with a zesty citrus dressing. The scallops were cooked to perfection, boasting a delightful crispness on the outside while remaining wonderfully tender within.
"Where do we even start?" Timothy, somewhat puzzled by the array of silverware, softly inquired, and Julia couldn't help but stifle a chuckle, her past experiences at gala dinners giving her familiarity with the proper etiquette.
"You start from the outside," she whispered, playfully winking, setting the table's other diners on the right path to enjoying the delectable meal.
"JJ," William confessed, "I don't even know which glass is for what."
Julia chuckled; her eyes filled with amusement. "Just follow my lead, and you'll do just fine."
Rasmus, always the cheerful presence, chimed in, "Who would have thought dinner could be this complicated? I just want to eat!"
Around the table, the uniformity of the dishes became apparent as everyone delved into their plates. Amidst the culinary indulgence, conversations flowed as the Maple Leafs players and their dates enjoyed both the fine cuisine and each other's company, savouring this sophisticated culinary experience.
The second appetiser made its grand entrance, continuing the culinary journey of the evening. On their plates, there was a beautifully seared foie gras, accompanied by a sweet and tangy fruit compote that provided a perfect balance to the richness of the foie gras. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavours that delighted the palate.
To everyone's amusement, Mitch couldn't hide his facial expressions, openly yearning for some pasta with sauce and not all this fancy stuff with more greens than he'd ever consumed in his entire life.
The main course was the pièce de resistance of the evening, and it was met with eager anticipation as it was brought to the tables. Each guest was presented with a beautifully plated filet mignon, cooked to perfection. The tender, juicy meat practically melted in their mouths, and it was accompanied by a luscious red wine reduction sauce that added a depth of flavour to every bite. On the side, there were creamy mashed potatoes, whipped to a velvety smoothness, and a medley of seasonal roasted vegetables that added a pop of colour and freshness to the dish.
As the guests savoured the main course, the room was filled with sounds of delight. Conversations flowed, and the Maple Leafs players and their dates shared their impressions of the exquisite meal.
"This beats any post-game meal, that's for sure," Rasmus quipped, his signature sense of humour shining through.
Dessert was the grand finale of the evening, and it was met with eager anticipation as the waitstaff elegantly placed each dessert plate in front of the guests.
The dessert was a work of art in itself – a rich and velvety chocolate mousse, adorned with a delicate chocolate ganache drizzle and garnished with fresh berries. The mousse practically melted in their mouths, and the bittersweet chocolate was perfectly complemented by the natural sweetness of the berries.

"Wise men say, only fools rush in"
As the night continued, people rose from their seats and started mingling around the tables and on the dance floor. Julia's heart swelled with affection as she observed William gracefully waltzing with an elderly lady. It was a heart-warming display of his charm and kindness, effortlessly connecting with people of all ages. The elegantly dressed lady wore a radiant smile that spoke volumes about her joy in his company.
Julia couldn't help but admire how William's genuine warmth and good nature made him not only a star on the ice but also in the hearts of those around him. It was moments like these that showcased his true character, and she felt fortunate to have such a remarkable friend and date by her side.
After a couple of dances, William gracefully escorted the elderly lady back to her seat, his smile reflecting the utmost respect he showed her. Her eyes sparkled with gratitude as she leaned in close and whispered into his ear, her voice filled with sincerity. "Thank you, young man. You've made this evening truly special for me."
William nodded graciously. "I appreciate the kind words," he replied, clearly moved by her heartfelt remarks. Intrigued by the meaningful exchange, Julia watched him as he re-joined their group at the table, her curiosity piqued.
"So, what was that all about, Willy?"
He grinned, a mischievous glint in his eye, as he sat down next to her. "Seems like our dance really left an impression on her," he said. "She wants to make a generous donation to the charity."
His words made Julia unable to hide her expression; her eyes widened in surprise and admiration. "That's wonderful. You've got quite the charm with the ladies, don't you?" she playfully teased, earning a chuckle from him.
"Sometimes, a simple dance can make a big difference,” William responded with a modest smile.
And Julia couldn't help but smile back, adding a touch of playful banter. "I'd say 'I told you so,' but her generous donation pretty much says it all," she said, earning another chuckle from William.
“Alright, time to dance!” Tessa then suddenly exclaimed, encouraging the group to join the dance floor.
Julia, however, had a different plan in mind. "Oh, I believe I need a stronger drink before I even set foot out there," she playfully remarked, earning nods and chuckles from her friends. Charlie chimed in, agreeing with a grin, feeling the need for some liquid courage before hitting the dance floor. Auston, ever the gentleman, took the opportunity to showcase his manners.
"Don't worry, babe, that shouldn't be a problem," he cheekily smirked, signalling to some of the other lads to fetch drinks for the ladies.
As the gents headed to the bar, the ladies were left to their own devices, quickly engaging in lively conversation, their laughter and chatter filling the air as they eagerly awaited their refreshing drinks. Shortly after, the men returned, each bearing a drink for their dates and non-alcoholic options for themselves, being mindful of the upcoming away game.
William, with a sly grin, handed Julia her drink. "Gin and tonic, with Hendricks," he offered, and she couldn't help but smile and admire how he had remembered her favourite beverage, a detail she had only mentioned once back in August.
"Thank you," she replied softly, accepting the drink, and the group settled in to continue their conversation.
Amidst the lively discussion, Julia couldn't resist stealing glances at William. Her mind wandered as she appreciated his thoughtfulness and his ability to remember so many details from their initial meeting. She thought about how with each interaction, he continued to impress her, deepening the connection she felt towards him. She was intrigued by the way he effortlessly navigated social situations, whether it was engaging in meaningful conversations or simply being attentive to the needs of those around him.
And her glances didn't go unnoticed. William's gaze locked onto Julia's as well, and for a brief, intimate moment, their eyes communicated feelings that words couldn't capture. It was a connection that transcended spoken language, a silent understanding that seemed to grow stronger with each passing moment. However, the spell was broken as the others diverted their attention, and they returned to the group conversation.
"Alright, let's go dancing now," Tessa announced, prompting the girls to make their way to the dance floor. Despite their elegant gowns, they moved gracefully, swaying to the music, while the gentlemen kept their undivided attention on their dates.
William's eyes remained fixed on Julia, captivated by her radiant happiness and beauty as she danced with her girlfriends. He couldn't help but admire the effort she had put into her appearance as his date for the evening, and her graceful movements on the dance floor only added to her allure.
After a few songs, the band decided to shift to melodies more suitable for slow dancing, setting the stage for couples to share intimate moments. As the girls prepared to make their way back to the table, William had a plan of his own.
He gracefully approached the girls and, with a charming smile, extended his hand to Julia. "Mind if I have the next dance?"
His words were delivered with a firm and confident tone, laced with a cheeky undertone, and he played the role of a slightly posh gentleman.
Julia couldn't help but smile at his playful act, and she was genuinely pleased by his request. With a nod and a warm smile, she agreed to accompany him back to the dance floor.
“Not at all,” Julia smiled, taking hold of his hand as they moved together. They effortlessly recreated the dance moves they had practiced in William's living room.
His hand found her waist, and hers rested on his shoulder as they swayed to the slow song, Elvis Presley's classic ballad "Can't Help Falling in Love" playing from the speakers.
As they moved to the music, their eyes met, and a silent understanding passed between them. There was an undeniable chemistry in the air, and the world around them seemed to fade as they shared this special moment together. The music, the dimly lit room, and the feeling of William's hand in hers created an atmosphere of intimacy that was impossible to ignore.
“Thank you for tonight,” Julia whispered softly.
“I think it should be me thanking you, JJ,” William cheekily replied. “For being my date.”
“Well, I’m just glad that you invited me,” she said almost shyly.
William leaned in closer, whispering softly, “I wouldn’t want anyone else here tonight.”
Julia's blue eyes locked intensely with his as they danced so close that their bodies almost entirely touched. Her smile widened as she simply enjoyed the company of her best friend, allowing herself to be moved by the warm atmosphere.
William couldn't help but smile as well. Their closeness brought warmth to his heart, and he relished having Julia so nearby. He truly meant what he said: he wouldn't want anyone else as his date. Julia had come to mean so much to him, and he was beginning to realise just how significant a place she held in his heart.
Meanwhile, at the table, Mitch couldn't help but notice the undeniable chemistry between the two of them. So, he leaned into Auston with a mischievous grin. "I give it two weeks," he teased, hinting that he believed William and Julia would transition from friends to a romantic couple.
Auston, equally playful, responded, "Alright, I'm guessing four weeks then. They won't admit it sooner." They made a bet based on their predictions.
Mo, overhearing their conversation, chimed in with a laugh, "I'm in, too. I'll go with six weeks." Earning the other Swedes at the table joined in, offering their own timelines for when they thought William and Julia might officially become a couple.
As the song came to a gentle end, they both returned to the present moment and broke apart, their smiles lingering as they re-joined the group, the warmth of their shared dance still filling the air between them.
The evening had slowly grown late, and with the event winding down, guests began to make their way towards the exit. William, always the gentleman, offered to drive Julia home, a gesture she gladly accepted. The night air was cool and filled with a sense of magic as they made their way to his car.
During the drive, they continued to talk about the wonderful moments of the evening. Laughter and shared memories filled the car, making the journey feel shorter than it was, and William couldn't help but steal glances at Julia, admiring her animated expressions and the way her eyes sparkled when she recounted funny anecdotes from the night.
As they pulled up to her apartment building, Julia felt a surge of happiness. She couldn't contain her excitement and, feeling bold in the warm afterglow of the evening, she leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on William's cheek. "Goodnight, Willy," she said with a sweet, lingering smile.
"Goodnight, JJ," he replied, his heart doing somersaults. He watched as she disappeared into her building, his mind racing with thoughts and emotions he hadn't fully explored before.
On the drive back to his own place, the streets seemed quieter, the world a little different, and William couldn't help but reflect on the evolving feelings he had for Julia, who had become his close friend in such a short matter of time.
Reaching her front door, and shedding her heels once inside, Julia felt the enchantment of her Cinderella fairy-tale waiver off. The evening had been nothing short of amazing; the atmosphere, the food, the company of her friends, and not to mention the company of William. Their dance had held them closely, and the entire night had filled her body with warmth and joy. She couldn’t help but smile to herself by the mere thought, as he undressed, removed her make-up and undid her hairdo. If anyone had asked her six months ago, if she’d ever imagine herself being involved in NHL gala events, not to mention attend games every week and spend time outside work with the team and their significant others, she would have responded with a firm ‘no’.
But tonight, as she was in bed post gala, she fell asleep with a smile on her face.
****
Saturday 3rd - TOR 3 @ TMB 4
In the six days that followed, the Toronto Maple Leafs were back on the road, and much to Julia's joy, she had the delightful task of keeping Pablo and Banksy company while William was on the road. It had by now almost become her official responsibility as Willy’s best friend, and in her opinion best option, and she took it very seriously. She absolutely adored the two fluffy doodles, and not to mention spending some time a William’s condo was an absolute treat.
And of course, they had their regular calls and texting, for papa Willy to stay updated.
On Saturday, the Maple Leafs faced off against Tampa Bay in Florida, just a couple of days after the dazzling gala. Inside the locker room, the players went through their usual pre-game routines - getting those skates laced up and mentally revving themselves up for the impending challenge. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, and the lads were itching to hit the ice.
However, despite a valiant effort from the Leafs, not even Mitch's impressive 19-game point streak, powered by his two goals, could secure a victory. The game concluded with a hard-fought 4-3 win for the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime at Amalie Arena.
As they left the ice, the Maple Leafs held their heads high, knowing they'd played their hearts out and done their best. Although the loss was a tough pill to swallow, it served as a valuable lesson for the games to follow, and they were determined to learn from their mistakes and come back even stronger in the next showdown.
Inside the locker room after the game, emotions ran the gamut from disappointment to determination. The players analysed the game's highs and lows, breaking down their performance to pinpoint areas for improvement.
However, Mitch, always quick with a witty remark, couldn't resist lightening the mood with a bit of playful teasing. So, he brought up William's evident attraction to Julia, which had been unmistakable at the recent charity event. With a mischievous grin, he raised an eyebrow and jestingly asked, "Hey, Will, what's the deal with you and JJ, eh? We all saw the sparks flying at that charity.”
The comment came a little out of nowhere, and if William hadn’t expected for it to have come sooner, it would probably have caught him off guard. However, William knew his teammates well enough to know that they’d noticed everything at the event, and though he held no regrets, he knew they’d dwelled on his actions and chatted among each other.
But despite the cheeky comment from Mitch, William, not so easily intimidated by the third degree, simply chuckled. "Oh, come on, Mitch, you're making things up. JJ’s just my best friend, nothing more."
"Hold on a second, I thought I was your best friend,” Rasmus chimed in, adding a touch of levity.
William laughed and tried to clarify, "You are! I mean, she's my best girl... friend... oh, come on, you know what I mean." His response earned more laughter from the teammates.
However, despite the quick and easy response from the talented Swede, the rest of the team wasn’t ready to let it go. Mitch’s cheeky remark had opened the flood.
"Well, just make sure to invite us all to the wedding!" Auston chimed in with a grin.
"Yeah," Timothy added with a playful tone. "Maybe it should be an outdoor affair in Sweden or something," he jokingly suggested.
And all while the guys shared their thoughts and comments, William kept shaking his head offering smiles and chuckles.
"I'll be your best man, maybe, unless you go with Alex, of course," Rasmus continued the banter.
"We're all free that day, just let us know when!" Mitch shouted before leaving the guest’ locker room.
"Oh, shut up," William laughed heartily, enjoying the jokes and tease of his teammates.
Amidst the laughter and the playful banter, William couldn't help but acknowledge that there was a kernel of truth in those boyish jokes. Julia was undeniably a close friend, and he couldn't deny the unique place she’d held in his heart since that intimate night back in August. And in his mind, she was more than just amazing; she had seamlessly become an integral part of the team's inner circle. Her mere presence infused the room with joy and happiness. What was even more extraordinary was how effortlessly he had managed to open up to her, sharing thoughts and feelings that he hadn't with anyone else. Julia was indeed someone out of the ordinary, and William couldn't help but cherish the bond they shared.
After the game, William wasted no time and immediately reached for his phone to call Julia as soon as he settled into his hotel room, and as her FaceTime call connected, a warm smile naturally crept onto his face. There she was, nestled on his familiar sofa, cocooned in a cosy blanket, with Pablo comfortably settled in her lap and Banksy faithfully by her side. The sight of her filled him with a sense of comfort and happiness.
"Hey, Willy," Julia greeted with genuine excitement as she answered the call, her eyes sparkling with warmth.
"Hey, JJ, feeling comfortable?" William chuckled; his voice laced with affection as he noticed how she had wrapped herself in his blanket.
Julia had just returned from a brisk walk with the dogs, making the most of the time between the end of the game and her awaited call with William. However, the weather had been rather awful, so she’d hurried back inside. "Honestly, I don't mind the cold at all, but the storm and the rain!" she chuckled, her cheeks slightly flushed from the cold weather. “I’m no fan…”
William joined in her laughter, and his heart swelled with fondness. "I thought you were used to it from England?"
"Well, yeah, but still, back then, I didn't have to walk dogs so late in the evening in bloody stormy weather," she added with a light laugh, her eyes reflecting the playfulness of their banter.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess next time, I'll just ask someone else to watch them then," William replied, adopting a mock-serious tone, his eyes gleaming mischievously.
"No, no, no," Julia pleaded, her voice filled with genuine concern. "That's not what I meant… please don't take them away from me."
William couldn't help but continue laughing, his fondness for her growing with every passing moment. "Alright then, well, I'm sorry about the storm."
The tone of the conversation settled into a comfortable warmth, and they both sat there, smiles gracing their faces, bathed in the soft glow of the screen.
"It's alright, although I do dread getting home right now… so I'll just enjoy your sofa for a little while longer, though it doesn’t seem like it’ll wear off," she flashed him a sweet smile through the phone.
"JJ, you know… you can just stay there if you'd like."
Julia was slightly taken aback by his casual proposal, her eyes searching his for any hint of insincerity. "Oh… no, no thanks, Willy - I don't want to intrude on your private space..." Her voice held a hint of hesitation.
But William, ever nonchalant, simply chuckled, his eyes conveying a depth of warmth and sincerity. "JJ, I think we're a bit past that already," he replied, a soft smile playing on his lips. "I mean, you've probably already spent more time at my condo than me this season."
"Hmm… that may be a little true," Julia lightly giggled.
"Besides, it'd make me feel more at ease if I knew you didn't have to drive in that stormy weather…" William said softly and calmly, his voice carrying a note of concern.
Julia took a moment to gaze at the man through her phone, her heart touched by his consideration. She realised that his offer was indeed a splendid idea, as she could really use a warm bed and sooner rather than later.
So, she offered him a simple nod, her eyes reflecting gratitude. "Alright… but just for your sake," she casually joked. "I wouldn't want you to worry too much."
The two of them shared another moment of laughter, before William explained where everything she'd need was placed in the condo. Although she’d probably manage to find it herself as she’d come to know his place rather well by now. He even suggested she pick a t-shirt from his closet to sleep in, an idea she initially hesitated about but eventually decided was quite appealing.
"Thank you, Willy," Julia spoke softly, her voice filled with warmth, her fingers gently stroking Pablo in her lap.
"No problem, JJ, anything for you," William replied, before they turned in for the night.
"Goodnight, Wonderboy, sleep tight."
"Thanks, you too hjärtat," William replied with a soft smile, his voice filled with tenderness.
And with that, the call ended, and Julia made her way to William’s guest room to make herself comfortable.

Naff! I'm finally catching up on stuff and I just read "Let's play a game" ! I didn't realize how much I missed the SJ world until I was back at reading about it haha!
And omg, Naff, it bears repeating that you are such a master of suspense. I was at the edge of my seat the whole chapter, the anticipation building up so naturally but constantly. I keep being amazed of how well you can swap the voice of your narration, having come from the supernatural tone of Cryptid Sightings, to the Noir feeling in SJ. God I want to describe it but it's just everything about it, you know? The playfulness of the Vigilante, the heavy atmosphere of the illegal gambling place, the untold words and understandings between y/n and the detectives. And that's just the execution!
Getting into the story, I just love how easily the thought process of the vigilante makes me smile. How they just secured a good amount of money from one of their steals to be able to get to another of their objectives and how even though the relationship with the detectives is no longer regarded as a game, there is no way when they are working together for them not to play a little with them.
And, oh gosh, the antagonist for this one! Kravette is such a good character! Having Eclipse as the main untouchable Mafia Boss, such a huge symbol of power and violence, made me think it would be hard to make any character feel as a big threat to the main trio because, well, you already have a character analysis on some of the first few asks I sent you, haha, I don't want to repeat myself XD But boy did Kravette bring so much with her! Eclipse probably didn't have many problems against her, but I can definitely see her as one of the main competitors for the throne now that he's gone!
Her focus is not so much on having information and everyone under her thumb but on people making the mistake to deal with her, and that's represented in both her gambling business and the loan shark one. She disguises her ploys as fun and helpfulness, even hiding herself in plain sight, instead of the more direct approach of offering power that Eclipse had, which was also way more showy.
I like also how she shares some motivations with him, as she seems of the same mentality of "I was used, so I will use everyone else so that I can never be used myself again". Though, in contrast to him, she really is also very into her role as a player. I was very surprised by how against cheating she was, since she did let them all go. Not to say she doesn't have her tricks, trying to ruin everyone's pockerfaces with her comments and casual flirting. The detectives were attacked with the threat of their vigilante being taken away in a dangerous deja vu of a situation, AND had their recently deceased brother thrown in their faces too with all the complicated emotions that brings (even if this last one probably Kravette was unaware of), and the vigilante had some bad memories of someone trying to force them to do something, and the fact that the detectives were being targeted because of them. She plays fair, obeying her own rules, but she definitely plays dirty too.
Too bad y/n doesn't care to obey rules they don't like, be it from a game or a legal standpoint ha! Which by the way, such a clever use of a red herring with that Ace up their sleeve! Y/n really is a lucky one, but I adore that their luck is also manipulated by them, manufacturing the perfect situation to be able to take risks. I imagine that now that they are a solid team, knowing the detectives much better helps as well, as the boys are every bit capable of keeping up with their improvisation~
Also I had to laugh at the end there XD The detectives all disgruntled about what just happened and vigilante just goes, hmmm, what if I remind them how cool and sexy I am, and then it works. Pair of simps right there kjghfsdj Who can blame them though?
Ahhhh, anyways that was a great chapter and I'm excited to keep catching up! :D
Ahhh, Chaotik!! That melts my heart, ahh, I love to hear that ♥ You're so sweet, thank you so much!! Atmosphere and tone are huge parts of what I strive to craft better so I'm glad it's working! ♥
Oh yeah, just because they're all in it together now doesn't mean the vigilante isn't gonna keep up the teases with their two favorite detectives!
Kravette was so much fun to write and get into her headspace, so I'm happy you enjoyed her appearance! It was a bit of a challenge to craft a new antagonist, who, you know, could stand apart from Eclipse in their own right, but she's playing with the big boys for a reason. She sets the rules once someone engages, and if her opponent doesn't play by them, then she wins. That's exactly it. She knows how to play dirty within her own rules, so she crafts a perfect way for her to win every time (almost hehe). She is one of the rare few that sticks to her word. A very old-school sort of honor, but she holds herself to it. That's not to say she can't read others well and exploit the weaknesses she finds ('flirting' with Detective Sun right in front of Y/N). It was a pretty tense poker game, all things considered!
If only Kravette wasn't going up against the vigilante themselves hehe now in synch with the detectives, the three of them are one mean crime-fighting machine!
PFFFT Y/N just does one hair flip and is just "You love me guys so much, you love me so bad" and the detectives can't even argue alsjdfalsdf
Aw, thank you so much for reading, babe!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

Dude imagine if t0g had been written by Leigh Bardugo
Is it weird to say that I can’t? I just feel like these two writers are so different, operating with really different worldviews and aesthetics and writing goals that I could never imagine LB taking on something like T0G, and I could certainly never see SJ/M coming up with something like SOC. But let me try:
The series would be between 3 and 5 books, max.
Everything about the series would be way more goth. I feel like A/darlan might be kinda King’s Landing meets Lyra’s Oxford?
Someone like Lisandra or Man0n (again, GOTH, need I say more?) would be the main character---we already know what LB would do with Alien, given the existence of Dunyasha. Alternatively, if Alien was the main character, she’d remain Celery. Kale might be endgame, judging by the Mal thing.
We’d know so much more. So much more. About all the different kingdoms in E/rilea.
The magic system would make sense, and society might organize differently around it based on the characters’ cultures.
Malide and Chaorian would be canon.
Nehemia and Sorscha would be alive.T0G would crunch the important stuff from the first two books together and would build up Celery’s moral ambiguity and assassin skill.
I could see the same crunching happening for H0F and Q0S. There would probably be more focus on the Valg and witch drama. R0wan, Maeve, and the wyvern competition probably wouldn’t exist or would take up very little page space. Here we’d maybe see an A/nsel or Nesrin POV.
The E0S/T0D split wouldn’t exist. The pirates might play a bigger part, just knowing Bardugo (or maybe not, because she vowed never to do another book on a ship after S&S). This book would be about joining all the forces together. K0A would take it all home.
But tbh I don’t even know if that’s on the ball or not, because I could never see LB writing a character like, say, Man0n or R0wan, nor could I see her putting them in a setting like E/rilea. And that’s not to put either author down, but I just mean it in the same sense that I could never see Collins writing a character like Annabeth Chase, or Riordan writing a character like Johanna Mason, you know? Also, SJ/M jumped so many sharks with T0G that it’s hard to even envision an accurate through line that a competent writer could follow if they were to take over. Like? Who else but SJ/M would insert a whole new endgame love interest 4 books in, twist the story around him and his supernatural race, send a previously main character packing to a whole other unplanned book-length storyline, and force a bunch of arbitrary couples together? So like even if LB had somehow taken over T0G from the start, it would literally be as unrecognizable as if GRRM took over writing GOT.

I. Love. Marc Edouard Vlasic. He's such an underrated player. (He was in the same draft year as Crosby, and his +/- is second best for that year... after Crosby who doesn't count cuz he's Sidney Crosby.) And he loves dogs. SO MUCH. It's adorable. And like... he googled himself when he was drafted to make sure it was really him? How pure is that? He's not as exciting a defenseman as someone like Burns, but he's like a safety net for the Sharks. Not much gets through my man Pickles👊🏼
ok first of all i’m really glad to hear that you call him Pickles because that’s all i can ever think about when i hear his name. and i totally get you with liking the whole solid underrated defenseman thing; from what you say about him he kind of reminds me of matt niskanen. also i had no idea he was drafted that long ago. he google searched himself? what a pure soul. i just did that myself to get a good read on him and wow, he’s been with SJ forever; each team only has a few lifers, and i’m sure you’re glad he’s one of yours. also i saw he’s played with the canadian national team a bunch of times recently? i can only imagine the pride you must feel for him
send me a description of your favorite player!

“you can’t leave me here alone!”
thomas bordeleau x fem!reader
word count: 0.6k
you’re currently laying in your very warm and cozy bed, using your boyfriends toned body as a pillow. he begins to stir awake and rubs his eyes before looking down at you, only to see you looking up at him. a smile grows across his cheeks and he leans down to kiss the top of your head. “good morning” he raspily speaks.
“mornin’ sunshine” you smile, forgetting about the dreading moments soon to come in the next hour. you both just stare at each other for a moment, taking in the sweet feelings of love that you both share with each other. literally anyone can see just how much you both love each other, which is why you get so upset when he goes on a roadie. thomas is the sunshine in your life, he’s your world. so when he speaks up the next words you forgot about, your heart instantly breaks. “babe i need to get up and finish packing my bag and shower before i go” he groans, reaching for his phone off of the nightstand.
the roadie.
thomas is going on an roadie playing the canucks twice, back to back, over the next few days. you instantly sigh and wrap your arms around him as an attempt to prevent him from moving. “no! you’re not leaving!” you groan, making him chuckle. “babe i have to, the team leaves in 2 hours i need to start getting ready” “no you don’t, you can just stay with me” “as much as i’d much prefer that, i can’t do that love. this is my job” he smiles pitifully at you, knowing he doesn’t want to leave you either.
you hold your grip onto him, acting as if he couldn’t easily move you off of him. he doesn’t try to wiggle out of your grip, instead he manages to get up easily and throws you over his shoulder as he gets off of the bed. “excuse me! where are we going?” you flail around in his arms. “i’m going to shower, you can do whatever you please.” he places you back on the ground as he starts to run the shower.
you roll your eyes since you know he can’t see your face. once he finishes his shower you help him finish packing his bag, trying not to cry. you know it’s dumb to cry over this, but you can’t help it when he’s your absolute everything. “alright, i think that’s everything” he says zipping the zipper of the black bag. you silently walk away from him, and go into the living room. you slide on one of thomas’ oversized (oversized on you, not him) hoodies, as he walks in with his bags. you stare at him softly before you feel tears pool at the brim of your eyes.
thomas instantly notices and drops his bags, pulling you into a tight hug. “i’m sorry princess, i’ll be home before you know it. i’ll call you every night, i’ll text you all the time too. it’s only three days, and you’ll see me on the tv yeah?” he whispers in your ear. “you can’t leave me here alone!” you cry out.
he chuckles softly before kissing the tip of your nose. “i’m sorry love, i promise i’ll be home soon.” “you better” “i better? what did you think i was gonna runaway in canada?” he laughs. “what if you don’t actually have a roadie and you’re just running away” “you’re crazy, you know that?” you roll your eyes, hitting his chest playfully, “yeah but you love it” “i do?” he jokes, making you scoff.
“okay goodbye get out, go!” you say pushing him towards the door. “i love you, i’ll call you when i land okay?” “i love you more, and just remember i’m watching for you on tv so if i don’t see you playing i’m gonna assume you ran away!” “you’re so weird” he laughs as leans down to pull you into a deep kiss.

Summary: Henry is owed a debt and a game of cards decides if the debt doubles or disappears but his luck changes completely when a young girl is put up as collateral and he knows he has to win the game.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
The thin black button-up shirt Henry was wearing was rather itchy around the collar and he had to refrain from scratching his neck every ten seconds but he had to act formal, this was a high stakes game.
His dark eyes cast down to the four cards he held within his hands, knowing he didn't have an assured winning hand but he had something close. Henry knew that if he won this game then that was it, he had beaten the lot of them and his way of blackmail would be done. He knew what he was doing, he knew how to play the game and get what he wanted.
The first two games, he let them think they were just playing for money, passing notes back and forth and the occasional watch or expensive piece of jewellery to match the stake. Then he turned the game around, he had more money than he cared for so playing for money didn't interest him. He started playing for favours, if he won then they would give him shares in clubs or they could put in their car keys as bets. No one wanted to be beaten by him and they all had something to prove and were all in debt with him. Pawning shares or cars or things that were worth something to Henry was a way of paying off their debts with him.
"Show your hand, Johnny, see if you've cleared your debts." Henry ticked his head to the side, his eyes narrowing on the figure sitting opposite him at the table.
Johnny was visibly sweating and he seemed to be paling in colour, he knew how much debt he was in with Henry and if he lost this game, he lost the deed to his club which they were all sitting in. The club equalled his debt and would cancel it out and leave him free from owing Henry but left without a business. But if he won the game, his debt would be cleared and he wouldn't owe Henry one thing as well as keeping the deed to his club.
The slightly younger man shakily placed down the four cards in his hand, waiting very impatiently to see what cards Henry held loosely in his grasp as if they meant nothing to him.
Henry's composure remained very relaxed, almost too relaxed for the game he was playing. But nevertheless, he stayed calm and almost bored as he set down the four cards in his hand, showing he had a king, queen, jack and a ten. He had a running line which meant he trumped the two fairly high pairs of numbers that Johnny had gathered.
With a shark-tooth smile, Henry drew in a slow breath between his teeth as he clicked his tongue with a shake of his head like he was disappointed when really, he saw this coming from a mile away.
"I believe the bet was the deed... I would offer you a settlement where you keep the debt to me and the club, but we both know you can't afford to pay it off anytime soon."
Henry was a reasonable man, he would have been fine with Johnny staying in debt with him and trying to pay back the money wherever and whenever he could within reason. But he knew that Johnny didn't have enough funds to be able to pay back as much as Henry would want each month, and he wouldn't be left out of pocket. Henry was reasonable, but he would never forget a debt that needed paying.
"W-wait! Just one more game, let me try and clear my debt... please." Johnny leaned his weight onto his left elbow that was digging uncomfortably into the table before he plonked his head on his hand. His short nails scratched into his scalp and pulled at the long scruffy hairs like he wanted to tear them from his scalp. He needed the club, it was his livelihood, this was his living and it was something he had worked for. He borrowed money to keep the club afloat but that would all be for nothing if he gave it over to Henry. Johnny knew well enough that Henry would never give or sell him the deed back, that would be too easy and it wasn't the way of this world.
He couldn't lose the club.
The cynical laugh that left Henry's lips and the way he tipped his head back made everyone shiver.
"I'm not wasting my night playing until you finally win. Besides, you offered the deed to this place, what else could you possibly put down to match the bet that trumps the deed?"
His head leaned until his ear was almost touching his shoulder as he smiled so sweetly Johnny almost didn't take him for such a cold-blooded controller. Henry could always come across as sweet and innocent, it was how he fooled so many people into thinking he was just a simple businessman when really he was as dark, crude and careless as they come.
"I- I have something!"
Raising his brow, Henry waved his hand as a signal that he was listening, he was interested in what could possibly trump the previous bet which Johnny had lost.
The four men watched Johnny jump from his seat like a spring and stumble out the back room they were all sat in. Silence surrounded them until the door swung wide open about five minutes later with Johnny seemingly struggling with something.
Henry's interest peaked as he wondered what he was about to be presented with as a bet. But his interest died down and surprise flooded through him as he watched, almost in shock, as Johnny grunted and growled something no one could hear to the girl behind him. His hands were deadlocked around a young woman who was almost at the point of screaming but for some reason she wasn't shouting for help which confused Henry.
The young woman was a fair bit shorter in height then Henry was and there was something about her eyes that made her look innocent, possessed, even. Henry's eyes danced over her, noticing her long lashes fluttering frequently over her eyes like they were shielding her from seeing something she shouldn't. Her shoulders were slumped forwards and her elbows pushed into her sides like she was trying to control herself.
She wore a dark crimson strapless dress that stopped short of her knees showing off her glass legs and short shoes that didn't give her any height to work with.
Henry liked the way her hair that she had clearly curled herself, fell around her face like curtains to protect her, it made him want to brush the curls back behind her ears.
"Johnny, since when did people count as collateral for a bet?" Henry leaned his head on his fist but he couldn't stop his eyes from frequently going back to the lady Johnny was keeping tight hold of. Her wrists must have been burning from his tight grip of them and her arms must be tired from the way she kept jerking them back to her chest to try and break free from Johnny.
"Since I own her! She's contracted to the club and she has a debt to me. If you win you take her and her contract instead of the club, i-if I win, then I'm cleared of what I owe."
Johnny was almost nodding his head to try and get Henry to agree to his desperate terms. It was his last bargaining chip that he had to play, he was willing to pawn a real person off to pay his debt than lose his club. That showed as much of his character that anyone would want to see but Henry was tempted. Johnny was very serious with this and if Henry won, this girl could come and work for him, if he lost then everything would be cleared and her and Johnny would still remain the same as before.
"You owe over twenty grand to me and you're hoping to pay with this young lady? If you really want a deal then if I win I get her contract and you owe half of what you originally did. If you win then I'll clear the slate but this is the last game we play, you don't get anymore chances."
Johnny was more than eager to nod to Henry's terms but all eyes moved to the nameless girl waiting to know her fate.
"Wh- Is that all I'm worth at first glance? You think I'm worth ten grand? What makes you think you have the knowledge or the right to put a price on my head?!"
The fury in (Y/n)'s voice shook through her veins to the point she felt like she was going to explode. How dare these two try and exchange her like a piece of cattle at a market. She was not for sale and nor was her contract and she hated the fact they were trying to pawn her around like she deserved this or like it was all she was good for. (Y/n) didn't have ten grand to her name, let alone twenty, but that was not the price of her worth. She didn't have a price and no one had the right to try and price her up like this.
(Y/n) bit back a cry when Johnny yanked on her wrists to the point she stumbled to her knees like she was obeying them all. He was about to slap her until the strange man who seemed to be in control spoke up.
"Enough. Miss, I'd put your value well over any debt anyone has with me but I'm not debating your worth, I'm debating a fair exchange. I don't pay for my workers and I don't buy people for my pleasure, taking your contract and half my original owes is be being generous to Johnny here. I'm willing to half his bet and take a worker off his hands if he loses, I'd say I'm being more than generous. The bet stands, sit down."
Henry wasn't saying anything about her worth or her value, he wasn't paying for her either. Johnny was being given the deal of a lifetime by Henry halving the debt he owed and taking a worker off him if he lost, rather than doubling the debt and taking (Y/n) anyway. He was being generous here, he wouldn't pay for a worker or a person in general but Henry couldn't pass up the chance to win a contract that gave him such an intriguing person.
(Y/n) watched intensely as the two men started to play the game, the other two men in the room now blended into the background, not worthy of even looking at right now.
Her eyes couldn't look anywhere but at the man who held her fate in his hands. If he did in fact win her in this game, her life and her fate would be unknown to her. Right now she worked for the sleaze Johnny, he paid her a lousy amount to work for him and pay him back the debt she owed him and she had no other options or jobs available to help her pay back her debt to him.
But if she worked for this mysterious man then her debt to Johnny would ultimately be nul and void but she wouldn't know what she would be doing for this man. For all (Y/n) knew he could want her to be his slave or his play thing, there for him to use whenever he liked and (Y/n) would never stoop to that level.
He didn't seem like that kind of man, he didn't seem like any kind of man, really.
"Okay Johnny this game is getting very old now, I have a run of four. Play your cards."
Henry laid down the four cards he knew had already won him the game of the night before he leaned back in his chair. His eyes were almost closed from boredom and he wanted to be rid of this room and this club he didn't want to be here anymore. They were all boring him because no one was actually playing a game worth winning, they were all shit at this and either giving in to him to please him or they really couldn't play any card game he knew.
Henry's lips perked up at the sides when he looked back over at (Y/n), knowing that he had won her contract.
A shudder ran through (Y/n)'s spine when she realised her fate was changing and her life was now placed in the hands of a stranger (Y/n) knew was a dangerous man. She watched the way his lips curved and he grinned like a shark, his eyes piercing her own to the point she felt like he was melting her insides.
"Well, miss, it looks like you're coming with me."
Oh no.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I could just leave. I don't have to stay and work for you, how would you even stop me from leaving?"
(Y/n) tilted her head up to look at Henry as if she were tall and stern and forceful when really, compared to him, she wasn't any of those things. She was short when she stood in front of him like this, she was weak rather than stern when she spoke to him and instead of forceful, she was desperate. She was trying to tell him that she was here because she was choosing to work for him, not because he had practically bought her and now owned her.
But the way he simply folded his arms over his chest and leaned himself back against the wall made (Y/n) infuriated because she knew what he was thinking. The smile on his lips showed her that he was just humouring her right now.
"You could leave but you won't."
"What makes you so sure?"
"You owe Johnny a debt, something which has now been passed over to me. What makes you so sure I won't set the bailiffs on you to get the money back that you now owe me? I don't like not getting what I am owed and I know where you live, where you shop, your security numbers and codes... in all senses of the word, I own you."
"I will if you talk to me like that."
"No you won't. You see, I'm in charge now."
"W- what are you doing?" (Y/n) stumbled back when Henry started advancing towards her with that catfish smile that made her stomach flip and her heart  shudder in panic.
Henry backed her up against the wall with ease, pushing his knee between her legs to pin her in place and prevent her from moving. Her breath got caught in her lungs and her stomach sucked in when Henry was pressed fully up against her and his face was inches from her own.
Both her hands were held in one of his, pressed between them to stop her from trying to hit him.
"Baby girl you're here because you owe a debt that belongs to me. You are different, special, and I want all of you." His words surprised (Y/n) and his tone scared her because he was so calm and he sounded serene. The smile on his face was almost like he pitied her like she had no control over herself or anything around her. "You like this."
Henry's words surprised himself but he couldn't help but notice the way she was staring up at him. She was scared, she was afraid, but she was intrigued and the look in her eyes was something he had seen many times before. If (Y/n) was that desperate to get away from him and his advances she would have done it by now and she had the ability to get away.
"No-"
"Look at you, you could ram you knee right in my crotch and I have no weapon against you. You could get away from me right now but you're as still a statue because you want me to pin you up like this. You're here now because you want to be with me."
His words made (Y/n)'s heart fall right down to her stomach and caused tears to form in her eyes.
(Y/n) didn't want to be here and she didn't want him pinning her to the wall and having so much control over her and her life. He had brought her here with him to his work and gave her her marching orders but he was so intoxicating when he was controlling. He was frightening, he was scary, he was intriguing and different and (Y/n) hated it. She hated how he was drawing her in without having to do anything but she was still pulled into his game.
When his words settled into her head, (Y/n) tried to lift her knee but Henry stomped his foot over her own and punctured his knee into her leg to keep it in place. He gave her the idea as an example, now she was trying to do what he said only proved that she was here because she wanted to be.
"Why don't you just admit it, baby? You'll feel so much better if you stop lying to yourself."
"I'm not lying!" (Y/n) pushed her body forcefully against Henry's but a choked sound escaped her lips when he simply pushed her back into the wall again. He actually smiled when he watched her bite her lip out of frustration and noticed the angered tears leaving her eyes.
(Y/n) pushed her fists into his chest as much as she could with his hand binding her wrists together and and when he grinned wickedly at her she snapped her eyes closed so she didn't have to look at him anymore, pushing her body against his to try and push him away.
This man was controlling her life and using her like a puppet, pulling all of her strings for his own gain. There was no way she could want to be here.
A squeak passed through (Y/n)'s lips when Henry pushed himself more against her, making sure she was pinned against the wall properly before his lips smothered hers. She could feel his teeth clashing against her own that sent shockwaves through her system and she felt like clay in his hands to be moulded to his desire when he reached his free hand to the side of her face and tilted her head up to better meet his own.
Why was he kissing her? What would he gain from doing this to her? Why was she letting him kiss her? He was the bastard that took on her contract stating that he didn't buy people or possess them yet that was exactly what he was doing. She shouldn't be letting him do this.
(Y/n) nearly moaned when he bit her lip but it soon turned to a gasp in the back of her throat when his teeth suddenly punctured into her lip like he was biting a grape. She could feel the blood forming around his teeth and when he released her lip his tongue swiped over the cuts he had created and he did that with his eyes open and piercing into her soul.
"Now if you really didn't want me to do that," As he started to speak, he kissed her jaw and cheek in between each word, slowly trailing his way up her features until he reached her ear. "You wouldn't have reciprocated... and you would have realised I'd let go."
For a moment (Y/n) didn't really understand or take in what he was telling her but horror struck her mind when she realised he'd let go of her hands and he'd created a very small air of space between them. If she didn't kiss him back, if she really was repulsed and afraid of him she would have realised and she would have pushed him away and left the room. But she didn't notice because she had been too focused on what he was doing to her.
Surely she didn't really want him to kiss her? But then again, she didn't push him away and she wasn't stopping him now when he was kissing the skin below her ear that was making her shiver. Whatever reason she wasn't pushing him away, (Y/n) knew what he was doing and she didn't like it.
He was trying to worm his way into her heart because he knew once he got that, he would consume her and own her entire being.

Divisional Power Tiers
METRO
exactly who we thought: wsh car
the peloton: pit nyi cbj phi
precarious: nj
the dubious: nyr
The Devils and Rangers looked fun in the summer, but now the Flyers seem most intriguing. Alain Vigneault is a good coach, and reminiscent of his cup run in Vancouver, he is putting players in positions to succeed, clearly forming and deploying units with intention. Add in some young players finding their way into bigger roles (Farabee, Hart, Lindblom, Patrick, Sanhiem, etc.), and it's basically must watch imo.
ATLANTIC
exactly who we thought: bos
usurpers: buf
the peloton: tb tor fla mtl
the dubious: det ott
It's hard to imagine that the Atlantic won't claim both wildcards. I'm punting on a sabres verdict atm. They had 3 quality adds this summer in Jokiharju, Miller, and Johansson who are playing vital roles to the turn around. I figure the Leafs and Lightning will figure themselves out, but keeping ahead of the Panthers and Canadiens will be tough.
CENTRAL
staying power: col
exactly who we thought: nsh stl
precarious: win chi dal
the dubious: min
Notably no peloton in this division. The Stars look like they are a bit short on everything. Chicago's blueline looks worse than last year somehow (speaking of Jokiharju...). The Jets blueline looks even worse than that. I mean I would rather be talking about 2019 1st rounders Heinola and Dach, and heck maybe even Thomas Harley, but what is going on here my dudes? If I had to pick one tonight in late October, Chicago. My fantasy team would appreciate some Stars love.
PACIFIC
exactly who we thought: vgk
trick or treat: edm/sj
the peloton: van arz ana cgy
precarious: la
The Central is leaving some room for wildcards, as are the incumbent Sharks and Flames. The Coyotes are probably the deepest non-Vegas team in this division. but honestly who's more likely to end the season in their current position, Oilers or Sharks? shout outs to the Kings for being the best worst team. This will bring them good hockey karma from the hockey gods in the future. Well, that and their prospects (they good).
similarities:
ana/dal both have solid goalies. Both probably missing 2 top 9 Fs and 1 top 4 D. Usually those spots are filled internally so we'll see who can grab a spot. Both could be falling behind.
buf/van both on the rise. Have high end young talent on F and D, and maybe even enough depth to keep pace. Intriguing goalie tandems if not ideal.

The Sharks are 0-4 to start the season, their worst start to a season since 1994.
The Sharks have scored 5 goals while allowing 17.EDITThe Sharks have no 1st round draft pick this year.Every player making over 5 million a season has either a 3 team no-trade clause or full NMC (Hertl, Meier do not)EDIT 2In case you are curious, the Sharks have the following 9 players in their starting 23 who have never played a full NHL season (Yurtaykin, Bergmann, Brodzinski, Gambrell, Radil, Ferraro, Carrick, Heed, Simek)Notable players gone- Pavelski, Donskoi, Nyquist, BraunAt least Patty is back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯EDIT 3Tonight's lineup against NashvilleMeier- Couture- LabancKane- Hertl-GoodrowRadil-Thornton-KarlssonBergmann-Gambrell-BrodzinskiVlasic-BurnsDillon-KarlssonFerraro-Carrick4 forwards, 2 defensemen who have never been full-time NHLersOut- Prout, Simek, SorensenNow imagine if SJS chose against re-signing E Karlsson. Then the lineup looks like thisMeier-Couture- PavelskiKane-Hertl-NyquistRadil-Thornton-LabancKarlsson-Goodrow-DonskoiVlasic-BurnsDillon-HeedFerraro-Carrick1 forward, 3 defensemen who has never been full-time NHLersOut- Simek, Sorensen, ProutYeah, the defense looks rough, but damn the forward lineup is way more balanced. And of course, Donskoi and Nyquist would be very attractive assets to sell for a competent Dman. The Sharks are 0-4 to start the season, their worst start to a season since 1994. Source

Imagine...
you play in the ocean when you feel something grab your ankle. before you could scream, you are pulled underwater and are met with the face of mario ferraro. “you will be my queen,” he says perfectly underwater. you are confused why he could speak well underwater. you look down to spot that he is a merman. this doesn’t help your confusion.
