Unpopular opinion: I really love the concept of the Event Currency they introduced during Days of Color. I waited for Days of Harmony to pass to fully make my opinion on them, and I am genuinely in awe. And I have different reasons for why I like them:
They make you engage with the event. Before them, we basically just went to the event location on the first day and checked it out and got all the cosmetics. And that's that. There wasn't anything else to really do around there besides maybe collecting the wax. Now we stay there, and have to fulfill little task next to get them (next to searching for the currency scattered around).
You don't have to grind until exhaustion (which can really be time consuming and take the joy from the game) anymore to somehow get enough candles for the cosmetics. Which automatically means you do not have to buy actual candle packs either anymore. With that being said-
The new Event Currency allows us players to slow down a bit. Go at our own pace. Enjoy the game a bit more again. Actually gives us time to play Sky and enjoy the mechanics, the environment, the social interactions with strangers and friends.
And last but not least. It gives every player the same chances to get all the igc cosmetics. Every single player starts at 0 with the currency. And it doesn't require our candles nor a long time spent in the game. Not even actual money (another pos that we can't buy more of them with money). It includes new players. It includes players that haven't played in a while. It includes broke players (both financially and/or in game) and players that don't have that much time to grind hard every day.
All in all, I love the Event Currency concept. I've wanted something like this for quite a long time because I always thought that the Events 1) don't feel like actual Events and 2) exclude especially new players.
If you read until the very end, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Fr, the prizes for the upcoming igc cosmetics (Days of Bloom) are insane and far away from reality.
120 candles for a cape. It feels like a big joke. An unfunny joke. And yet, so far it is reality in beta. This is unfair on so many levels. Newer players won't be able to get it, even if they grind every single day until their candles turn grey.
You have to buy candle packs if you are broke and really want the cape. If you want to keep up with the new cosmetics.
And that's not the Sky game I got to know and learned to love.
I already thought 120 candles for a snowman who does nothing but look pretty on a snowy or icy surface (which you can only find in Valley) was too much and thus refused to get it.
I want the times back in which igc cosmetics were more affordable. I want the times back in which candle running was a fun activity you could do with your friends to stock up your candle supply.
Cr feels like a chore now, especially with all the idle spots being taken away.
