BLACK (& WHITE) CAT FRIDAY!

Rufio is 4 years-old and sponsored by Dr. Bronwyn Purcell. SNAP Cats rescued Rufio from Contra Costa County, CA. Look at that face!!! Rufio doesn't have Manx Syndrome, but it's the closest description for what he does have. Rufio pees in the box, but poop just sorta-kinda falls out whenever it feels like it. Needless to say, Rufio's kind of a messy kitty. Rufio's on Miralax to keep him regular, and he takes it like a champ with his wet food! Other than that, he's a normal, healthy, playful, active kitty who loves laps and attention (and those spring toys... LOVES those spring toys!).

STAN THE MAN!

Stanley is 7 years 7 months-old and sponsored by Michael Snider. SNAP Cats rescued Stanley from Hanford, CA. Stanley is a real sweetheart! He gets along great with the other kitties here, and could probably tolerate a cat-friendly dog. We’re not sure if Stanley will use the litter box all of the time, but he makes an effort to go there… sometimes. Since he’s been here he’s gained a bit more control of his functions. But, he's basically incontinent. Which means he's a very messy, bath-a-day kitty. But look at that face. Is a bath-a-day too much to ask?! We think not!

Frodo is 5 years 9 months-old and sponsored by Cathy Blackstone. SNAP Cats rescued Frodo from Dubai (UAE). Frodo is a big, smart, alpha street cat that lets everyone here know that he’s the boss. He follows human instructions/demands very well, though, sometimes acting more like a dog than a cat. Although we haven’t tried it yet, we think Frodo will do well on a leash (with harness). It might exhaust some of his relentless energy. With this in mind, Frodo would be best as an “only” cat.

This senior sweetie is Cricket. According to Yolo County Animal Services, Cricket can't get enough love! She’s eager and enthusiastic for attention and pets! Cricket is happy and loves everyone. She loves being held and you can hold her close and she will just purr and relax in your embrace. Cricket doesn't get ruffled by other kitties at all, and is quite simply the sweetest cat in the world! Watch Cricket in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JicNHvz3EKU

Cricket came to the shelter as a stray, with her beautiful, long fur tangled in mats. Cricket may be hyperthyroid based on her appetite (we will do bloodwork), and a felt bilateral thyroid slip. She’s also very petite at 5.3 lbs. Cricket also needs a dental cleaning.

As Yolo County Animal Services stated: “Cricket is way too sweet to have our shelter be the last home she knows!”

So the rest is history.

This is beautiful girl is Lotus. She’s 11 months-old and is sponsored by Teresa Edwards. Lotus was born with her rear knees on backwards! Does she care? NO! Lotus gets around just fine and uses the litter box 100% of the time. Okay. Sometimes she comes up a bit short of getting in. But she really tries so we give her an "A" for effort! He’s always ready for pets and attention, and if you’re seated on the ground, Benny will crawl into your lap, curl up and sleep until woken. Benny’s twisted front legs (radial hypoplasia or radial agenesis, take your pick) doesn’t prohibit him from anything, even climbing stairs. This is Copper. He’s 3 years 7 months-old and sponsored by Chelsea Warren. SNAP Cats rescued Copper from Oakland, CA. Despite his age, Copper still plays like a 3 month-old kitten. He loves to chase things, especially spring toys. He LOVES spring toys. They’ll keep him occupied for hours. Copper gets along well with other kitties, and loves human attention. He can get overstimulated when being pet, but Copper’s much better now than he was when he first arrived.

Copper tries to use the litter box some of the time. However, there will be some mess on the floor so that’s something to keep in mind. And you’ll need to keep an eye on his backside as he scoots around on it and it can get irritated.

GG is a very sweet, loving, chill kitty, who’s fairly independent and doesn’t need a whole lotta attention, other than his twice-daily insulin injections, which he takes extremely well (doesn't even notice). GG gets along fine with the others here, is kinda picky about his wet food (but he DEFINITELY likes his wet food!), and just kinda sits around and watches the world go by him.

Tara’s going home with our vet, Dr. Erin, who fell in love with Tara when she went down for radiographs of her back legs. Obviously, Tara will be in great hands and get everything she wants and needs with Dr. Erin.

This handsome man is TJ. He's 17+ years-old and a very sweet senior. TJ was surrendered at a local shelter by a woman who claimed he was a stray. Naturally, the shelter scanned for a microchip and found that he had one. (I think you know where this story is going). Turns out, TJ was registered to the woman who brought him in.

Busted!

Anyway, no way the shelter is going to make the woman take the cat back. And a shelter is no place for a senior cat, so we took TJ to give him a nice, comfy space with lots of room, windows, and plush beds… and people who really want him!
