I recently read your Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight works! They were amazing works and what I always visioned Brambleclaw and Squirrelight's relationship to be (ever since I read TNP in 4th grade!). If you are still open to any prompts or suggestions, I would like to give you maybe something to think abt? Since your stories started when Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw's relationship was a more stable one of mates, I kept wondering how would you write their relationship before they were mates? Like how they got closer during the great journey while also their growing friendship with the other four? I definitely feel like I didn't really get ALL the GOOD (juicy!) details abt their growing feelings and when they each realized they're in lov-LIKE, when they like each other. I wanna know more abt their developing relationship story, don't you? Oooh, or maybe when Squirrelflight spent more time with Ashfur instead of Brambleclaw as a way to snub Brambleclaw bc of their big disagreement abt Hawkfrost! (I still laugh when remembering her accusing Brambleclaw of spending more time with Hawkfrost than her XD like she was jealou-i'm kidding!)

Ah......yes this whole ask turned out longer than I anticipated. I just wanted to show you how much thinking and inspo that your works gave me!

Hello there! Thank you for writing in with such lovely compliments. I'm very glad you've enjoyed my stories and that you're getting so much from them! However:

I wanna know more abt their developing relationship story, don't you?

Not really! Speaking truthfully, I'm just not that interested. For me, the compelling thing about Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw is the parts I've already written--how they maintain their relationship despite difficulty, despite unforeseen and unexpected challenges. That's the part that gets its hooks into me and I like to explore it.

I'm definitely not disparaging you for wanting to know more and enjoying their love of each other, though! It's just for me I don't always/often find the falling in love part to be the most interesting part of a relationship. I way prefer to think, read and write about the "okay we want this to be a thing, how do we make that work?" aspect, after the initial swooning and pining and confessing of feelings. I like the moment when people go from infatuation to intention, like "oh this is not just chemicals, I'm making a choice now." I go wild for that.

As charming as Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are (at least, in the stories I tell), their actual early bloom of romance isn't really something I'm likely to explore. It's not really my style. Thank you again, though! I always appreciate when people enjoy my work with such enthusiasm.
