The peach glow of the sun sinking across the Churning Mists sky has long since given way to the glimmering stars peeking through the clouds, but D’alia has not slept. She clings to the well-worn and open leather journal in her lap, but her eyes are on the horizon, watching the sway of grass in the breeze, two small Elezen children huddled close, and the bouncing pom of a Moogle in the distance. Her attention keeps wandering not far behind her where Sidurgu, in a rare moment rid of his armor and sprawled on his bedroll, has been asleep since they had returned.

Or at least, since they managed to heal the worst of his injuries.

Letting her eyes flutter shut, D’alia draws in a deep breath. Not for the first time tonight, she reminds herself that all of them are stable and whole, and remain so under her watch. Even if the adrenaline and concern of the evening have yet to wane. Movement stirring nearby draws her from her brooding thoughts, however, followed by Sidurgu’s voice rough from sleep calling to her.

“D’alia?”

She hums, glancing over her shoulder. “Still here.”

“Rielle? Myste?”

“Stargazing with Moggie,” D’alia returns quickly, aiming to soothe the worry before it can grow full-blown through his grogginess, and points to their location. “I can see them from here.”

The simple reassurance that the Moogles haven’t once again kidnapped their charge or her strange little friend seems to placate him. Still, Sidurgu grumbles under his breath as he eases himself upright, his movements slow and stiff with the strain. A pang of guilt unfurls and burrows deep in her chest until it settles into the sort of helpless frustration that has become all too familiar to her these days.

D’alia brushes the fringe back from her face as she lets out a long sigh, sparing a glance at the children. Though the combined healing of Rielle’s conjury and her own arcanist studies have helped Sidurgu to some degree, there was naught else they could do, and travel in his condition has been out of the question. When she finally turns to him again, she finds him watching her in turn.

“You should still be resting.”

“I haven’t been awake but a few minutes.” After a brief stretch, he clears his throat. “How long have you been on watch?”

D’alia bristles, her tail twitching near her leg. It’s a pointless question—she’s been wide awake the entire time, not once leaving the children or his side, and he is equally aware of it. She has been telling herself that the reason is out of desire to protect him, but it’s increasingly difficult to accept that it’s the only one. What should be a simple question is particularly close to the full truth that she can’t afford to consider now.

And yet the memory of him collapsed in a heap on the ground remains on the forefront of her mind, as does having to drag him back to Moghome between Rielle and herself, and facing Myste’s inconsolable pout until Sidurgu had spoken a few words to him, too. Not to mention Ompagne’s words lingering over them. Of course she is still holding vigil over their makeshift camp.

“I am scarcely the most injured one between us, and besides, would you prefer to rehash with Rielle on why you so readily throw yourself in harm’s way?” D’alia fixes him with a stern gaze, earning a bewildered look in response, his limbral rings aglow in the moonlight as his eyes widen. “Or shall I fetch the Moogles to sing that godsdamned song again?”

Heat rises up her neck to her cheeks as she ducks her head, and never has she been more grateful for the night, hoping with every ilm of desperation that the shadows conceal it. Though her dignity hangs in question, she refuses to retract her words. He has made it clear how much he’s willing to keep them all safe. It is high time that it gets through his stubborn head that he isn’t the only one, too.

“Aye, point taken,” Sidurgu concedes, his voice hushed as if wary to shatter the stillness between them. “Leave the furry little shites out of it.”

She risks another glance his way. “You’ll sleep then?”

“Only for a while longer. Then it’s your turn.”

D’alia simply nods. Seemingly satisfied that she isn’t planning to summon Rielle’s wrath or the Moogles upon him, Sidurgu gingerly lowers himself back to his bedroll, leaving her to return to her journal and her endless thoughts, though her ears twitch in his direction with every small shift until he settles into prolonged silence.

“Just… Sleep,” she whispers. “I’ll keep you safe.”

But he still must have heard her, for he returns lowly, “I— I never doubt that.”

Unable to suppress the rush of fondness that blooms through her, D’alia smiles softly, but she leaves him to his rest. It takes him little time to drift off again, his rumbling snores behind her a sign of his exhaustion. Soon, she’ll wave the children over to sleep, too, and they shall take the next day in stride. And mayhap all will be well.

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?

leida has always had a brain for numbers! when she stumbled across an old arcanist tome one day (she bribed one of the port authorities to let her have first pick over any books that happen to pass through...) things just...clicked for her. she was fascinated -- and the rest is history! she still mains it, mainly because i cannot decide for the life of me what melee class she would have taken up. but honestly, i think at the end of the day summoning will always be second nature to her, so that's what she ultimately sticks with!

7. How have they dealt with losing people?

ah. well...historically not very well. she retreats inward, and there's a festering anger there. at herself, at the world, for every godsforsaken step that has led her to this moment. it can be hard to try and mask that anger with a mask of emptiness instead. all she has ever done is try to love with her entire heart and to have someone she loves ripped away from her -- be it friend or lover or, hell, a place -- it's as if her very heart has been struck by a lance. honestly, without the support of others, there would be no way she wouldn't lose herself in grief and anger.

Who do they worry about the most?

nadezda worries about every one, always, so much. but in particular the twins

she's well aware that they're both incredibly capable, more so than most adults, but that doesnt change the fact that they are still kids, they shouldn't have to be!

she's probably always going to feel some sense of responsibility for them

What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know them?

probably that she's aloof, stoic, and more than a little intimidating!

while she is in fact pretty quiet and reserved, i doubt it takes very long for ppl to realize she's very warm and expressive, perhaps to the point some might start to forget just how deadly she can be...

(not that it would ever occur to her to actually use that to her advantage lmao)

What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?

she def prefers cooler weather! takes on snow like she was born for it.

while she can handle the heat pretty well its certainly not her fave.

the same cannot be said for humidity, but she will suffer that in silence if she must

concept of home and family. 

home is not odessen, he can tell you that much. but home is - was? - the jedi temple and then his ship, and the jedi are his family, though theron and now reza are part of it, too. it’s why the separation from the jedi and his role as battlemaster all those years hurt him so much.

describe your muse’s laugh.

quiet but rough and deep, sort of bubbling out of him unrestrained, and curls in on himself a bit with it.

does your muse know when to rest, or do they push themselves?

he knows his limits but actively disregards them. his stubborn sense of duty borders on a martyr complex and makes him think everything is his responsibility, though he’s gotten a little better about it as he’s gotten older, and he’s more mindful of it as a father, but he does still occasionally need someone to twist his arm into relegating tasks so he can rest.

is your muse a fitful or a quiet sleeper?

more often fitful, tossing and turning through the night. he can be still when he’s exhausted, but even if he’s not moving around, he’s prone to snoring.

something that makes your muse smile.

the joy on young jedi’s faces when getting the hang of something he teaches, kira’s teasing banter, theron getting flustered, his son’s laughter - all the simple joys.

5. what is the first impression most people have of them? is it different when they get to know them?

people often assume from first meeting that she’s aloof but loud, very bubbly, and unabashed about speaking her mind; it’s mostly true, but getting to know her comes with an understanding that she holds people at arm’s length only out of desire to be the strong one for others, that she’s abrupt and earnest because she’s so protective and driven, and bright and sunny so nobody will fuss over her.

14. if they were not an adventurer, what would they be doing?

in a case of never becoming one, she’d most likely still be working as a culinarian in her parent’s small restaurant, maybe helping him further by starting and tending a garden to grow the food that they’d serve and trade to merchants, too. if she retired from her station as the WoL right now, she’d return to ishgard and upgrade to a larger living space for sid, rielle, and herself where she could have a garden, further pester the local botanists, and make the occasional trips to help with saint mocianne’s and visit the great libraries to throw herself into learning for a satisfying, cozy life.

albums: what are some of the albums the band has released? are they a consistent style? what themes did they explore?

genesis (digital-only EP / originally a self-titled release under the band’s former name, vermillion.)

elysian (first album after seven’s departure)

ethereal (most popular album)

façade (4-song EP / latest release)

saint reverie’s style has been fairly consistent across albums - alternative rock that experiments with a dreamy sound infused in smokey riffs, heavy percussives, and soulful, gritty vocals - while basing themes around various qualities of emotion channeled into a symbolic sense of yearning, daydreams, and wanderlust, and drawing from experience into their lyrics.

performance: what are they thinking and feeling while they’re performing? how do they act on stage?

lux bares their heart and soul on the stage, letting all of the emotion that they don’t typically show otherwise pour out of their performance and getting lost in the lyrics. they’re more of a subdued presence physically, leaning into the micstand or pacing along the crowd to tease them, not much for active thrashing or anything like that.

change: how has their personality changed since seven left the band? are those changes related to seven leaving?

they’ve become aloof and elusive in a way, less open and forthright with their feelings while maintaining a charismatic presence, still art-driven and ambitious but dodgier about what’s on display, and it has everything to do with the unresolved personal feelings of their failed relationship and the public focus on seven’s departure and her tension with the band.

manager: do they get along with orion? what do they think of him as their band manager?

their dynamic has been exasperated manager and troublesome client from the start, but it works for them, since if anyone can crack through orion’s exterior to earn a secret soft spot for, it’s lux, and if anyone can pull lux together and convince them to be a more responsible leader, it’s orion. and lux has always appreciated that orion cares about the band’s interests and all of them as people while keeping their career moving successfully. the only problem is the growing feelings that lux doesn’t expect to be reciprocated and fears orion is smart enough to pick up on it.

seven: do you have headcanons about their friendship and/or romantic relationship (past or future)? what do you imagine some of their best memories are? what do you think some of seven’s favorite things about your mc were/are?

lux and seven were attached at the hip even before dating, their friendship building the core foundation of their romantic relationship, and the ties of that shared history still lingers in both of them. they’d spend hours writing songs together or listen to the latest misfits alley releases and dreaming about making it big one day, drive each other to school most days, and sneak into each other’s rooms to vent or talk through the night. lux was a grounding presence to seven; where she’s more emotionally driven, they’ve always been the stable and pragmatic one. (it’s likely a factor in why the vote stung so much, too, since what she appreciated about them most became the thing that destroyed them, still participating in the vote to maintain overall cohesion with the band over choosing her with their whole heart).

the plot of SOR wouldn’t have happened

without theron’s mutual support as a partner and grounding presence, kai would be still a little off the rails with recklessness, fighting himself on destiny and expectations, and stuck trying to protect the whole damn galaxy without the gentle intimacy of someone being right there with him through it and choosing to look out for him. and especially not sure if he could’ve handled vitiate in his head again without theron being there for him.

22. what is some advice or guidance they received that had a big impact on their lives or outlook? was it a positive or negative impact?

pretty much everything master orgus said to him on rishi - the perspective was much needed at the time, and the opportunity to use his hands to rebuild rather than fight, and facing what happened to him rather than continuing to hold onto it all affected him in a major but positive way.

❄️ SNOWFLAKE: do they prefer cool or warm weather? how do they deal with each?

the man is like……. goldilocks conundrum. he doesn’t like extremes - not too cold, not too hot. he likes cold until the snow gets slushy, he likes warmth until it’s too uncomfortably sweaty to be in. he might make a comment about his discomfort if he’s stuck in the weather and has to deal with it, but at that point it’s probably almost unbearable for him if he’s admitting that much.

🎧 HEADPHONES: do they like listening to music? do they prefer going to live shows or listening to stuff prerecorded? do they make playlists?

he loves listening to music!! him and his lil space music player and soft tunes and him <3 prob wouldn’t make playlists or anything but will put something on and just vibe while having his tea.

🧼 BAR OF SOAP: what are their morning and night routines like?

honestly just the process of getting ready for work or getting ready for bed sjdghsh he’s very habitual and efficient about his time. slower/calmer mornings will include some music with his tea, though, and every evening he also has tea with min before bed.

🎁 PRESENT: what kind of gifts do they like to give? to receive?

he would not want to admit to this but sentimental gifts either way. he doesn’t want meaningless things; he cares about the thought behind them, tenfold if he’s the one giving a gift.
