Fungichomp entered the daycare, shocked to see every kitten behaving properly, some even taking naps! The nests had been cleaned, and there was none of the usual screaming.
He was about to ask what had caused this, but then he saw her.
Long, life-hard muscles stretched under a dappled fawn and cream coat, while nightmarish blue eyes with almost-red pupils held him captive.
“Bella May.” He gulped.
“What do I owe this pleasure to?”
The matriarch of the Wooden Teeth chuckled, grooming the nearest kit with a few strong licks.
“Thought I’d help out today. The little monsters need to learn manners at some point, yeah?”
He gulped. He knew every kit in the Dark Forest by heart. The kit Bella May was grooming was new to him. A tiny little tortoiseshell with oversized fangs and semi-familiar dappled legs.
“And, uh, who’s this?”
Bella May purred louder.
“Well y’ain’t gonna believe this, but my Lamb met someone! He just had his young’un, and I’m taking care of the little beastie.”
Fungichomp could feel his blood run cold. The last thing the forest needed was more of Myrtlewing’s kin. Least of all from the volatile Lamb, who, if rumors were to be believed, was even more cannibalistic than the rest of his immediate family.
Even so, it paid to be polite when dealing in the Dark Forest, so he did not in fact, wail his panic to the rest of the woods.
“What’s her name?” He leaned down, examining how the little mollie dozed on her grandmother’s forepaws.
“Gorse. Or Gorsekit if y’wanna be formal.”
“…Ok? Is she one of Web-“
The glare he got let him know, in no uncertain terms, how Bella May felt about that particular question.
“She kinda looks like Lamprey-“
Another glare had him backtracking as quickly as he could.
“Because of her legs! They’ve got dapples!”
“Hmph.” Bella-May nudged Gorsekit towards Fungichomp, and she toddled over on surprisingly steady little legs.
“Hallo.”
Her voice was tiny, barely a whisper.
“Gran-ma says that you’re… uh…” She turned to Bella-May, who merely licked one paw and shrugged.
Gorsekit turned back.
“Gran-ma says you’re a good cat. That true?”
Fungichomp gathered the little tortie into a nest, and groomed down her spiky fur the best he could.
“I like to think that I’m good.”
“That’s good t’know.” She yawned, and peeped open one almost yellow eye.
“If you weren’t good, I’d eat you.”
“Good to know?”

Cause of Death: blood loss, killed by Hillfeather
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
He didn’t mean to kill Hibiscusdrift.
Sure, she was cruel to him, putting thorns in his nest as a “harmless prank,” unaware that his disorder made him bleed so much that the leader thought a cat had been killed in the night and almost declared war before things were explained.
But he didn’t want to kill her!
He had been aiming for her brother. Tigereyes, the worst of his bullies, the one who went too far too often.
But Tigereyes had leapt out of the way at the last possible minute, raking claws across his flank. It was too late to stop though. His momentum (despite his admittedly unimpressive size) was too great.
Hibiscusdrift never stood a chance. He slammed into her with a force like a cat twice his size, knocking her off her paws and over the ledge.
Her neck snapped like a dried out branch, and if that didn’t kill her, Streamfleck landing on top of her certainly did the trick.
He was hauled back to camp by the scruff, instinct making him curl up into a little ball. He could feel Tigereyes growling through his scruff.
He was thrown into the middle of camp, barely able to process the blood pooling out at his paws.
Was it Hibiscusdrift’s? He wondered numbly, cold seeping in through his thin fur.
No, that couldn’t be right.
This blood was his own.

Dark Forest Resident: Gorsebriar
Aliases / Nicknames: Mama
Gender: female
Sexuality: lesbian
Family: unnamed mother, unnamed father, unnamed mate, Streamfleck (son)
Other Relations: unnamed mentor
Clan: Riverclan
Rank: warrior
Characteristics: fiercely protective, kills to protect her son, hemophiliac (type A)
Number of Victims: 1
Number of Murders: 1
Murder Method: slashing throat
Known Victims: Hillfeather
Victim Profile: cats who harm her son
Cause of Death: blood loss
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
Her baby was born already bleeding. When the medicine cat finally stopped the crimson flow, he told the weakened Gorsebriar that he thought that she might have a bleeding disease, and that she had passed it to her son.
She lay in the nursery as she slowly recovered, cared for by the medicine cat’s apprentice
By the time she had recovered completely, her baby had changed from Streamkit to Streampaw-- though he still preferred to sleep in the nursery with his mother.
However, this did not go unnoticed by Hillfeather, who had recently welcomed an energetic litter of seven and wasn’t thrilled to share the den with an apprentice.
Gorsebriar noticed the scratches on her son that night, and confronted Hillfeather, who merely swatted her until her face bled and the medicine cat was called.
By the time she recovered from this, Hillfeather’s abuse of Streamfleck had increased. He was constantly weak from bloodloss, and trembled if any cat who wasn’t his mother approached him. Hillfeather taught her kits to do the same, and they finally goaded him one too many times. He had snapped, grabbing Hibiscusdrift and shoving her roughly over an incline, where she had fallen onto a rock- her neck snapping on impact.
He was brought to the Clan by the siblings of Hibiscusdrift, and Gorsebriar rushed to his side, hissing at anyone who tried to separate them.
He was meant to be exiled.
He should’ve been guarded.
He should’ve been treated by the medicine cat.
But Gorsebriar awoke to her son cold as ice beside her, his silver fur matted in blood from a scratch on his flank. Even in death he had snuggled close to his mother, seeking comfort. Gorsebriar screamed her loss so loudly that twolegs stopped and complained from the Twolegplace.
She screamed loud enough reach the stars.
Hillfeather licked her paws outside.
“A life for a life.” She had said.
She had known.
Known that with his disorder, he wouldn’t stop bleeding.
Gorsebriar saw red.
The next thing she knew, Hillfeather’s blood was everywhere, and her own blood covered the body of her sweet kit. She lay down next to him, still trying to groom him as her vision went black.

Dark Forest Resident: Hillfeather
Aliases / Nicknames: Mom, Fiona
Gender: female
Sexuality: bisexual

Other Relations: unnamed mentor
Clan: Riverclan
Rank: warrior
Characteristics: kills in revenge, lashes out at the son of her abuser, formerly a kittypelt, lashes out at the son of her abuser, noticeably dull eyes
Number of Victims: 1
Number of Murders: 1
Murder Method: clawing
Known Victims: Streamfleck
Victim Profile: son of her abuser
Cause of Death: killed by Gorsebriar
Cautionary Tale: ??
Story:
She never wanted to go into the forest.
But when Lampreypelt squeezed in through the cat flap and suggested it when she was barely six moons old, how could she resist the promise of adventure? A full grown wild cat as her guide? Things couldn’t be better!
Then he got more insistent, refusing to let her leave the woods, promising that her new life would be better, and then ‘think about how our kits would feel if they were raised in a twolegplace!’
There was another queen in the nursery when Fiona became Hillfeather and moved into the den.
Gorsebriar. She was calm, collected, and didn’t take any nonsense. Hillfeather almost admired that until she saw Gorsebriar’s son. He was small and sickly, and-- worst of all-- he had the same dappled legs as Lampreypelt.
Hillfeather hated him from that point on. Hated the blood that he shed all over the nursery.
She smacked him if he came anywhere near her precious babies, sending him crying to the medicine den to see his mother.
Soon enough he learned to stay away, but-- just in case he didn’t take the hint, she taught all of her babies to attack any silver cat. They took the lessons to heart, and gleefully jumped at any silver cat that came near their mother. They even clawed at their father once, until he sent Tigerkit flying across the nursery, snarling at his children that if they ever so much as unsheathed a claw against him, he would make them regret being born.
Tigerkit had looked at his mother with wide eyes, and she had to look away, to hide her shame somehow.
When Streampaw finally received his apprentice name, Hillfeather was excited to have the nursery to herself. She was pregnant with another litter, after all, and could’ve used the space for her first litter.
But no.
Gorsebriar decided to keep her darling baby close, rather than putting him in the apprentice den where he belonged.
That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Hillfeather began to unsheathe her claws when she chased him away.
Finally, she had peace and quiet.
When her first litter finally left the den, when they finally got their warrior names, and her second litter was born, tragedy struck before she could even name them.
Tigereyes led the patrol back into camp, gripping a bleeding Streamfleck in his jaws like a mother carrying a kit. Frecklepelt was beside him, carrying the corpse of Hibiscusdrift.
Hillfeather’s world stopped.
When it started again, when Lampreypelt hissed at her to move, she wailed and rushed to her baby.
The leader decided on exile after a too-long deliberation.
That wasn’t good enough.
Hillfeather snuck past the guard, shushing Streamfleck’s pained noises as she dug her claws into his flank. Soon, her paws were coated in blood. Blood created by Lampreypelt.
She could hear her two newborns crying in the nursery as she groomed blood off her paws the next morning. Heard the anguish in Gorsebriar’s wail as she found her son’s corpse.
“A life for a life.” She murmured to herself.
Little did she know that Gorsebriar heard her.
Additional Information:

--BITCH, and hypocrite. Streamfleck was just as innocent as her own kits.
--If she never met Lampreypelt, she would’ve gone to Starclan

An Idea: Hillfeather becomes friends with Oakberry and Hollygorse and becomes semi-redeemed through them
They see Bumblefern in her and Lampreypelt in Marshtooth
So they teach her that what Lampreypelt did to her was wrong, but also that she had no reason to take her anger out on Streamfleck
and maybe Oakberry and Hollygorse also help Hillfeather brutally k-word Lampreypelt for good
as a treat :3
three cheers for potential redemption!
