To Wong Foo: The Second Road Trip (By Reza Ghahremanzadeh)

Vida: I wonder who came up with the expression “hit the road.” I mean, it was obviously some Neanderthal man. No woman would inject violent undertones into a phrase that describes driving.

Noxie: You know what, Vida? You're right! He probably coined “pound the pavement” as well!

Chi-Chi: And all this nonsense about cars being women es loco. I think men are more like cars: They leak, they struggle to get going, and they guzzle fuel.

Noxie: I've certainly had to deal with a few leaky Chevrolets in my time!

Vida: Well, darlings, as Louise says, “You get what you settle for.”

Noxie: But some women didn't settle for that. Some men start off as limousines and then turn into the cars you see at the vehicle graveyard. What should those women do?

Vida: Get a bus pass!

Chi-Chi: Mamas, where are we going?

Vida: The Golden City, dear.

Chi-Chi: As in heaven?

Vida: As in San Francisco.

Noxie: Vida, remind me again why we're taking this trip?

Vida: Because, pumpkin, I need a break from New York and the ordeal of having to walk past Trump Tower every day. Think of this trip as a political detox.

Chi-Chi: I'm thinking of dyeing one of my wigs the same colour as Trump's hair.

Noxie: Chi-Chi, stop trying to make blonde happen! It's not going to happen.

Chi-Chi: Oh, yeah? Well, I hope you maintain the hair down below better than that nappy 'fro you got on ya head.

Vida: Come on now, ladies. Play nice.

Noxie: What's the itinerary?

Vida: Fleetwood Mac are playing at the Chase Centre on Saturday night. And yours truly got us tickets.

Noxie: (singing) Players only love you when they're playing!

Chi-Chi: Ain't that the truth!

Noxie: I just hope we don't run into any of those weird gay Trump supporters!

Vida: Dieu nous en garde!

Noxie: I mean, I understand that some fags have a thing for Mitt Romney. He's a zaddy.

Chi-Chi: I prefer his hijos, Matt and Tagg! What I wouldn't do to be inside that sandwich! Oh, Dios mío!

Noxie: And what exactly happens in this fantasy?

Chi-Chi: Well, you girls know I like it rough. So maybe they start off by throwing me on the bed and calling me names.

Noxie: Like what?

Chi-Chi: Like a “dirty little democrat” or a “pathetic little snowflake.”

Noxie: A dirty little democrat who needs to be punished?

Chi-Chi: Exactly!

Vida: Oh, ladies, you always find a way to lower the tone. Can't we try and have an intellectual conversation?

Chi-Chi: You picked the wrong queens for that!

Noxie: Speak for yourself! Anyway, what are we doing on the Sunday?

Vida: We're attending a fundraiser for Kamala Harris.

Noxie: Wait a minute, wasn't this trip supposed to be a political detox?

Vida: Well, darling, I'm willing to make an exception for our first female president.

Another year gone...

What a week! We hope you enjoyed yourself no matter the reason you came to enjoy another year at the Tournament of Ages and don’t worry - we wish it wasn’t over either. What an amazing turn out this year. Since year one, we’ve seen the number of you multiply and we can’t tell you how much this means. We love hearing about how excited you all are, how much the Tournament means to you IC and OOC. We’re right there with you. And what a wonderful year this one was. We saw how wonderful our community could be, how selfless you all are. We raised over $10,000 to donate to Wildlife Warriors. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We can’t say it enough. The Tournament of Ages has always been a little more than just running a series of competitions in-game and you proved that ten times over this year. Thank you for keeping that kindness going. And - Thank you to our Coordinator Maxen, who kept his promise and shaved his head for the koalas! ♥ On top of the fundraiser for Wildlife Warriors, we also released Tournament of Ages merchandise that you all seemed to want to scoop up like crazy! Proceeds from those purchases are going towards the ACLU in the hopes that we can help create change in our world. Because of that hope, we are keeping our merchandise available until the end of the year.

I volunteer as the social media and merchandise lead for Tip of the Hats, and am one of the many photographers. We are an annual fundraiser stream on Twitch that benefits Camp One Step by Children’s Oncology Services which offers camps and other educational and excursion programs throughout the year that allow children with cancer to just be kids.

This year we have raised just over $240,000 during our event and with this number this makes a total of an amazing One Million Dollars we have raised cumulatively in our 6 years of activity. This money allows COSI to help more children and their families heal, as well as provide assistance to improving their infrastructure. For example, Camp One Step opened their new Soderquist Lodge earlier this month with partner support. This building features 27 large bedrooms, multiple meeting spaces, handicap accessible bathrooms and with an elevator that can now service campers with accessibility needs.

Summer time means more family days out – and what better place to spend a sunny Summer day than at one of the these fabulous ice-cream farms?

We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite places to visit with your family, whether you’re after a full day out or just a quick visit for a tempting treat, there’s plenty of choice below. We’ve taken the hard work out of planning, now all you’ve got to do is decide which flavour to try!

Small But Perfectly Formed:

Blaze Farm, Wildboarclough

One of the things I really enjoy about heading to Blaze Farm is the drive up, the route takes in some lovely scenery. The road is a bit of a twister though so please take care. It is in a stunning spot up on the tops, even on a sunny day it can be a bit breezy so pack an extra layer.

There is a small selection of animals to see, a wildlife pond, nature trails, play tractor and tunnel slide. Blaze farm make and sell their Hilly Billy ice-cream to eat in or to take home in an array of flavours, check out the specials board for seasonal/limited editions.

Great Budworth Real Dairy Ice-Cream Farm

A working farm, Great Budworth Real Dairy Ice-cream Farm has a small tearoom serving hot and cold treats, a shop and lots to keep the little ones entertained.

In the field there are several varieties of rare breed chickens which are sometimes let out and are free to roam. The first paddock is home to the friendly goat who has been joined by 2 younger goats and there are also some sheep. You can purchase animal feed from the shop. There’s a table top farm and village to explore and plenty of seating outdoors in the garden.

One direction are also fans of the Ice-cream here! The farm prides itself on producing high quality traditional flavours.

From July there is also a maize maze to explore. This year its running a little differently with no dead ends, it will be a one way wiggly trail through the maize field and is absolutely FREE to enter, but donations are welcomed to their charity fundraiser.

Daltons Dairy, Ashbourne

Hidden away, the seemingly small Daltons Dairy supply their unique blended real fruit ice-cream all across the county.

If you fancy a treat in a picturesque setting then this is the place for you. There is a small honesty shop on site selling all your basic essentials, perfect if you’re camping nearby.

Sit and gaze over the wild flower meadow and watch the cows grazing. There plenty of outdoor seating and some small ride on tractor toys to keep the little ones busy on the grassed area.

Serving ice-creams from the farm at weekends only but tubs are available from the honesty shop at all other times.

Glebe Farm, Astbury

I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve visited here over the years and it’s still a favourite now. Glebe Farm is free to enter and has ample parking, toilets and baby changing facilities so that’s the practicalities ticked off straight away.

Ice-cream is served from an outdoor counter, scoops and a selection of ice lollies are available. Takeaway tubs are available from the farm shop.

There are animals to feed and pet (food is available to buy at the farm shop) including goats, alpacas, donkeys, and guinea pigs to name but a few. There is also an outdoor playground area that has recently been refurbished and has a sand pit too.

One of my boys favourite things to do is play on the excavator ride, digging, scooping and piling up the chippings.

Insta Perfect Ice-Cream

Seven Sisters

The home of posh ice-cream Seven Sisters is all about creating delicious new flavours weekly!

Looking over the Cheshire countryside, Seven Sisters provides something a little different to your usual ice-cream parlour, after their ice-cream toddlers can have fun playing on the farm. Or enjoy the café with its relaxed interior which appeals to all ages from teenagers right through to the glam nans…think pink in here with a new flower wall installation for those perfect insta pics!

Out back in the yard there is a large seating area which includes the tipi. A sandpit and play barn are available for children to enjoy.

The new Collecting Yard room offers classes and groups throughout the week including yoga, a mum and tots class also a pop up brow bar. Be sure to catch up with their Facebook page for updates.

During Summer months Seven Sisters open their maize maze (entry fees apply) which is a great way to spend an hour, and work off those calories!

Poshing it up!

Tagg Lane dairy

Visit this ice-cream and coffee bar in the heart of the Peak District, just outside of the beautiful village of Monyash and a stone’s throw from the High Peak Trail. This makes it the perfect place for a pitstop after a day out in the peaks.

The award winning Jersey ice-cream is made using the milk and cream from the Jersey herd on site.

The coffee bar serves tempting combinations such as freshly made Belgian waffles, ice-cream sundaes and American style milkshakes.

A Full Day Out

The Ice-cream Farm, Tattenhall

There’s so much to do at The Ice-cream Farm making it suitable for a full day of activities. Free to enter, some activities require a play pass which can be purchased online. There are also some ride ons that’s are coin operated.

We have visited for a few years now since the boys were around 15 months upwards.

Our favourites include the magical ice-cream tree which ‘snows’ on the hour and really is a spectacle to behold, the kids love it!

Outdoor play in ‘Daisy’s Garden’ is free and so is access to the farm paddock where you can see a small number of animals.

There is also ‘Silvercone’ a racetrack with coin operated go-carts. Will you make it to the winners podium?

But let’s get back to the important stuff, ice-cream…and, with over 50 flavours to choose from there’s one for everybody! Vegan ice-cream and fruit sorbets are also available.

Recently The Ice-cream Farm opened up a drive thru parlour too.

Bluebell Dairy

Over in Derbyshire Bluebell Dairy offers all the charm of a petting farm with the fun of a playground. Throughout the year they offer themed events which are truly magical and sell out quickly.

Over in the animal patch meet, feed and learn about all of the animals including Barry and Bill the pot bellied pigs, Twinkle the donkey and Merlin the shetland pony.

In the play area, little ones can climb, swing and enjoy jumping on the bouncy pillow. There’s also a sandpit, and plenty of seating. Picnics are welcome in this area.

More than 25 flavours of ice-cream await you, including seasonal specials and in the Summer months Bluebell Dairy also open up their maize maze, and nature trail.

Scoops and Sculptures

Snugburys, Nantwich

Even if you’ve never visited for ice-cream, I’d like to bet that you have probably driven past one of the iconic straw sculptures that Snugburys have been producing over the last 10 years.

Bee happy!

In recognition of the decline of bees 2020 sees a giant 40ft bee buzzing about the place. Previously there has been Peter Rabbit, a Dalek and a meercat to name but a few.

Still a working farm, Snugburys has a ice cream shop with outdoor seating areas and large car parking facilities. It’s popular as a stop off destination as the sculpture acts as a beacon for visitors.

There are a few animals in the paddock, which you can visit. The photo opportunities are endless if you walk down to the sculpture field for that all important selfie! Recently Snugburys introduced a drive thru too.

4 days until I’m gonna be in my truck with my three dogs until the 27th at minimum (I have been prepaid for dogwalking work I needed the money for- I cannot dip sooner even if I would like to). Boosting will ensure I can leave VA and get into a friends house out of state asap after my prepaid dogwalk work is up and not have to do another stretch of working that here. If it were warmer I wouldn’t give a shit cuz we all like the outdoors and I can work remotely with more than one job but gas is too damn expensive to be running a 98 jeep at night (it’s not stealthy and it’s bad for the engine to boot), and I haven’t had the time or funds to properly rig it for winter living due to paying for a Lyft rental car weekly to meet all my bills and continue working which has been a barely keeping my nose above water situation. The jeep still needs a lot to be done to be truly trustworthy after sitting for a year before driving long distance so I need to drive as little as possible while here during that time. I literally have a room waiting for us and a place I won’t have to worry about having three dogs with me, it’s a matter getting from point a to b since my dad says I’m not allowed to move with him and his lease ends on the 18th (the joys of him not liking my dogs or the fact I’m loudly enby).

I don’t like receiving help for nothing and I hate that I’m in the position to even have to ask, so if you want a sketch or need some help with remote dog training, please include in a message on ko-fi or here. P@ypal will process immediately, stripe will delay payout just as a heads up but I’m not truly picky about where you’re willing to send help and boosts are just as much help because my awesome friends don’t have any more help to offer.

Welp…between No One’s massive bill, followed by Arya’s wellness visit that couldn’t be delayed any longer (most of the wellness visit is covered by pet insurance but I’m still waiting on reimbursement and who knows when that will be), I have spent 900 in the vet alone this month. Top that off with this week being slow with minimal bonus streaks and I’m looking at needing to suck it up and pay late fees on my storage and pet insurance payments, and I will be squeaking my phone payment/gas this weekend. If you want a pet or blorbo doodle of similarish quality, I’ll be happy do so for tips. I cannot make a promise on turnaround time as this will be in slow periods but I will try to be ASAP. These will need to be directly to p.aypal or v.enmo as ko-fi has a payout delay.

So something bad is up. I haven’t heard back yet from the vet to know what but she’s escalated to vomiting a lot of blood at the vet, I don’t know how much this is going to cost me. Given my dad’s attitude about my dogs, no I do not see him offering any assistance when I ask but since I’m anticipating a no I’m trying to be on top of this. I already know I don’t qualify for care credit, I checked.

Trying to get myself situated to gtfo of here across multiple states so I can stop stressing over what my bigot dad is or isn’t doing to my dogs while also not paying through the nose for housing.
