this cammuravi concept art along with some of the bangin outfits for the main party in their concept art has made me form a headcanon:

the concept art is the kind of appearance/clothing they'd have in the normal versions of their universes/post universe merge. like this is what cammuravi chooses to look like as a normal (flesh eating) blade.

mio chooses to wear that cute dress. noah chooses to wear that jacket with the puffy sleeves. eunie with the leather jacket and spiky shoes. sena with her fire pigtails further cementing her role as Definitely The Morag/Brighid Lovechild. lanz ripping the sleeves off his parka being a universal constant. only taion not looking like that actually. (the green/yellow doesnt do it for him, and also white taion jumpscare.)

xenoblades writing hcs because I saw a post and it has Inspired me (is this the third post I've made in this format now ??)

Noah - honestly, pretty average. legible and neat, and he can get it down fast. though he misspells things often, mainly putting down the wrong letter. the paper is often covered in smudges from him desperately erasing it.

Mio - she has very nice, flowy writing, that's both legible and easy to get down. of course, she's the one who writes the most often, so she has the most practice. she definitely puts cute little flourishes on letters, like long y's and fancy capitals.

Eunie - she tries to make it neat, but it always falls flat. her writing is a mix of normal and cursive, and often ends up hard to read by accident. she also misspells things often, but instead of erasing her mistakes she just scribbles it out or writes the right letter over top, extra bold.

Taion - he has Annoyingly fancy cursive. like it's basically illegible. he thinks it's perfectly fine but whenever the shows his notes to others they all struggle and give up after a few seconds of trying to read it. (Eunie complained about it so much he got self conscious and changed it. still cursive, but much more legible.)

Lanz - pure chicken scratch, the exact opposite as Taion's but the same level of illegible. Noah and Eunie have gotten used to reading his writing, but Taion nearly had a heart attack when he first saw it (Sena just gave a pitiful smile). he's trying to make it better, but he also just doesn't write things often.

Sena - oh she tries so hard to make it pretty. perfect bubble letters, very rounded in style. she has fun with it but it takes her forever to get anything down since she's making sure it's All Perfect.

I was still heavily playing through Xenoblade 3 while setting this whole thing up (as any who saw my last non-crossover Xenoblade pic might gather, I have since beaten it and my heart was ripped out of me as a result), so I couldn't help but include my favey from there since he was on my mind a lot. "Oh, it's so soft!" Sena gasped, feeling Eunie's left wing between her fingers.

"And fully mobile," Taion observed as the right wing flapped his hand away. "Not large enough for actual flight, though. I've always considered that an especially odd Kevesi quirk."

"S-Says the Agnian... with a random... c-crystal in his chehehest!"

Eunie had fought valiantly against the giggles that'd been bubbling up inside of her, yet she could only hold out for so long under the light touches to both her head wings. It wasn't often that she let others near them, nor did they draw attention from her fellow Kevesi, but both Sena and Taion had expressed curiosity, and Eunie hadn't seen any reason to deny them.

No reason at all, until she'd realized her wings were ticklish.

It was as much a surprise to her as it was to her companions... perhaps even moreso, given they were her wings. They'd simply never been examined so closely before, and ticklishness hadn't been a problem when Eunie handled them herself.

"Tahaion, yohohou aharse!" she exclaimed when he very purposefully ran his fingers through her feathers. Then he kneaded along the upper ridge of her wing, and she barely stopped herself from smacking him. "AHH! Nohoho! Sehehenaha!" she squealed when the other scritched playfully near the base. Slamming both hands firmly over her face, she muffled a small screech as the tickling continued.

"Is it normal for these wings to be so sensitive?" Taion inquired, half-wondering, half-teasing.

"Hey, come back here! I wasn't done yet!" Sena laughed as Eunie wiggled out of her grasp.

"Bohohoth of you ahahare gohoing to regrehehet this!" The threat was impossible to take seriously. Not only because of Eunie's persistent giggling, but because despite her squirming... she still hadn't tried to leave.

mio & eunie: i think eunie is just real with mio in a way nobody else really is. witches be bitches!! and it definitely draws out a snarkier side in mio that otherwise rarely comes out. mio & taion: god. These two. The fact that MIO is a defender but taion wants to protect her. That mio hates being fussed over her deadline but taion Knowing she is only doing that because of miyabi. mio & sena: motherfucker okay where do i start. Senas jealousy? Mio noticing, but not knowing how to help or what it means? MIYABI?? No but. Sena spends so long convincing herself that mio doesnt actually like her and theyre only friends through obligation. And mio doesnt know how to help sena bc sena keeps acting like theres no problem!! and they love each other and they dont want to hurt each other by acknowledging this festering rift in their friendship, when they’ve known each other so long and things were Fine, but now everything has changed and something’s gotta give. And it does

eunie & taion: ultimate enemies > frenemies > teammates > partners > taion and eunie. Literally im the most insane about these guys. because they start by hating each other their whole relationship is built on this foundation of mutual needling, which. Win. But then when it DOES give way into subtle vulnerability and kindness (THE FUCKING. TEA SCENE. THE TEA SCENE I SWEAR TO GOD!!) it stops being “i hate your guts” and starts being “you’re my fourth best friend” because they GET each other. Theyre complete opposites in theory, but they Know what its like to be vulnerable and afraid and when their partner is too panicked to tease them? THATS when it cracks and they say what they mean instead of veiling it behind a personal cipher. God i just. Them, fr. They love each other so much

eunie & lanz: i have not stopped thinking abt the bathtub cutscene theyre everything to me. eunie “one of the boys” and lanz “one of the girls” for REAL theyre on Such a wavelength. I feel like having to deal with noah every day for 8 years put them in a blood bond or something. Theyre by far the rowdiest of the party because they will just start shit. Bitches who have no impulse control and love things so violently and joyously

eunie & sena: i think for a while there was that stiltedness there that comes with sena wanting to put on a front to be more likeable. I mean. “Eunie love”? unlike mio and sena tho i reckon eunie is able to help sena work through all of it much easier, because shes Eunie shes The most blunt person youll meet! And sena knows that a eunie compliment is fuckin rare. Conversely i think its also an opportunity for eunie to be more vulnerable in a way she isnt really with anyone else, bc she cant just needle sena the same way she does everyone else. They have this really supportive dynamic where Yes they will still banter and tease each other. But at the heart of it is a lot of communication and vocal kindness that is unique to these two in particular.

taion & lanz: everyone saying the bickering is a coverup for all the kisses theyre doing is on the money. Taion and lanz have a really similar dynamic to taion and eunie, but without a lot of the tenderness. So instead what you get is this bickering and poking at each other like one big game of gay chicken. YES they love each other, but they cant just say that because then they’ll lose. They are competing completely arbitrary. Taion says he’s not but he’s lying. Not being at odds with each other just somehow feels wrong!!

taion & sena: half the game these two are just clinging to each other because of their mutual desire to keep mio safe, and yeah it unites them but it also corrupts them a bit. neither of them are able to pull the other back from that threshold of worrying too much. After about lambda/maktha, i think they start to learn how to enjoy each other’s company without that mutual distance. Theyre almost like a balm for each other? Having spent so much time Focusing and Worrying together when they actually learn to relax i think they just become. Comfortable around each other. Like a mothers group

lanz & sena: you cant do this to me. Im not normal about them. “noah and mio were the first to be friends” yeah and a lot of that was the off-seeing and the ouroboros. Lanz and sena hit it off RIGHT away on day 1 even without having those connections. They are Literally partners and to be honest. I think they were almost ride or die from the beginning. Lanz being a defender? Sena desperately wanting to keep mio alive? It cumulates in this mutual understanding that their purpose in the team is to protect. And this definitely goes to unhealthy lengths because thats another reason they hit it off- theyre both so passionate. Lanz’s anger is unchecked, a constant tornado, but sena’s is like a powder keg on cooldown until someone lights it. And together theyre fuckin explosive, and thats not always a good thing, especially if they both think of themselves as expendable compared to the rest of their teammates. But fundamentally there is an understanding there that im so insane about. These bitches have so many issues and i love them so much.

Last reblog is something I kinda worry is gonna happen in the Guilty Gear fanbase now that ElphNago is the hot new thing to ship. So far I haven't seen it, thank goodness, and unfortunately the actual physical appearance part is kinda unavoidable as the characters already look like that canonically, but it's gonna suck when inevitably people start also portraying Nagoriyuki as way more aggressive than he actually is, and Elphelt as way more frail and waifish than she actually is. 😬

Taion × Eunie (Xenoblade ship, not GG, just to clarify) meanwhile doesn't suffer as badly from this since it's like, kinda hard to make canon wet sopping nerd Taion into a buff, aggressive dude without people immediately being able to uh, tell what you're doing. But I WILL say I've noticed even if people don't make Taion more aggressive in shipping fanart, they DO sometimes make Eunie more soft, and it uhh, calls into question if there's deeper reasons for that beyond standard fandom misogyny.

Why people just can't be normal about interracial ships in general is...baffling to me yet not surprising sadly.

now im thinking of the agnians being weirded out that kevesi dont have core crystals. taion is simply the most fun to imagine quietly freaking out about this. what are some other bodily differences? the agnians wanting to touch eunie's feathers is fun, but maybe lanz has a different body temperature. noah's got nothing tho. he's just lame and boring lmao

I think Noah might actually be the most disturbing out of the Kevesi for that very reason, especially to Taion as their healer, like, he looks so close to being "normal" (Agnian) except he doesn't feel like an Agnian on an etheric level so he sits right at the bottom of the uncanny valley. Eunie and Lanz, at least, have significant physiological differences that put them firmly in the "other" camp.

The same goes in reverse, Eunie actually hits a jackpot being paired with Taion, the most "normal" Agnian, it raises the incredulity ceiling for her to be dealing with the differences in Agnian physiology by experiencing it first as this Normal Guy being extremely weirdly and abnormally put together, it's like an on-ramp to dealing with the weirder blended physiology of Mio and the straight-up magical of Sena.

Agnians might just also be easier to understand, since they all exist on various points on a continuity, none of them are "fully" anything, all of them have a little bit of Blade in them, whereas Kevesi are, like... you pretty much have to learn to know homs, High Entia and machina physiology, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of overlap, even if High Entia and homs heritages have fully blended (which I don't think is possible, I think High Entia genes are dominant).

I think the plot is much stronger if Kevesi and Agnians inherently have that "are you even human????" response to each other, something just feeling.... off because they're essentially dealing with...not-quite-mirrorverse versions of what they're used to dealing with, I think that makes the text about recognising the personhood of the other, and learning to appreciate them, to seeing the common enemy as someone who wants you to hate the other just for being the other. But I do, also, like it when Taion suffers and is uncomfortable :D

Classifying agnians based on whether I think they’re a normal blade or a blade eater/blade-human child since that’s established, based on core placement and accent

Sena - normal blade. she has ether lines and an american accent. between mio, glimmer, and linka, I feel tentatively confident in saying blade-human kids dont seem to have ether lines, probably bc they’re made up of less ether and more organic flesh.

Taion - blade eater. his core is kind of sliver-looking which makes me fairly sure this is the case. also bc the main trio seems to represent flesh eater/blade/blade eater for arrest

Isurd - normal blade. ether lines and american.

Nimue - definitely a normal blade she’s one of the only ones to have more of the funky strange body design. and american

Teach - blade eater. his core crystal in on his upper cheek which is DEFINITELY not natural. and british

Juniper - same thing, core on their shoulder. and welsh

Cammuravi - normal blade. is american and has more of those quirky impossible design aspects like fiery hair

Fiona - well she definitely has to be a natural blade somehow, because she has the horns. a lot of other agnian blade npc also have the horns. but she’s also Scottish lol. that’s not out of the question, look at nia, but for consistency’s sake im also adding that she may be a human/blade kid too

Alexandria - normal blade. american and she shares some design traits with common blades in 2 most notably the hair piece

Miyabi - Based on the accent I actually think she could be a blade eater or a human/blade child. her core crystal placement is pretty normal but so was taion’s

Started playing XB3 again after the DLC was released, and I’ve been doing some thinking,

Spoilers below:

Eunie and Lanz are High Entia and Machina respectively, albiet maybe with some homs genes.

Mio, Taion, and Sena are all blades or flesh eater hybrids depending on what we consider Blade/Hom children to be.

The five of them have lifespans several times greater than normal homs and have unique aspects to them that make it near impossible for them to get ‘sick’ per se (water for machina, ether for high entia, blades have their core crystal/ether)

Noah is just a guy.

If the worlds collided again safely, wouldn’t Noah be the first one to die of natural causes? Sure, 100+ years is a while, but it’d be a small part of a High Entia’s life, let alone a Machina’s. Especially after what they’ve gone through in the ‘Eternal Now’, would Mio have to watch Noah fade, no opportunity for rebirth, just...

That’s it.

Gosh knows how many timelines of Noah losing Mio, only for reality to set in and he’s the first one out.

Anyways, I was going to write a Ouroboros sick fic, but now I’m just depressed.

I love the amount of variation in the things everyone can do during camping interactions and I fully understand that it’s designed so that most of them are doing completely different things for that sake of variety, but it’s so funny because you end up in situations where you look and see normal stuff like noah practicing his flute, sena and lanz stretching, eunie relaxing by the fire, taion cooking with riku and manana, and then there’ll be like mio just… standing there. Just standing there not facing anyone or doing anything, just staring directly into the abyss in the distance like she’s one of those dogs in a horror movie that senses a great evil within the house
