i say this with all the kindness i can muster. the way some of y’all take with complete earnestness the statements made by characters who have been proven to be unsavoury/villainous/evil/(insert other suitable adjectives here) to be word-of-god factual is deeply concerning actually. like fiction is fiction and this is far from being an accusation about the morality of those who are curious about/compelled by the motivations of immoral characters. this is a deep concern i have for people who exist in a time where media of all kinds, fiction and nonfiction, is used to embed values in its audience. a concern i have for existing among people who don’t even question the truth/accuracy of statements made by the textual villains of stories before accepting them.

#this is a me issue that spans far beyond the reaches of any given fandom #tonight it is unfortunately the cr fandom taking notable cross campaign Liar delilah briarwood who is a power hungry mage #to be telling the truth when she says the new sword is horrible and evil and must be destroyed (thru consumption obviously) #as absolute fact #anyway . your morals aren’t determined by the fictional characters you like #BUT. your critical thinking skills Are determined by how you use context clues to make judgements about claims made in media #and if you can’t pass a basic test in fiction #that Does actually raise some flags of caution and worry for a time in which pretty much all news and communications tech #needs some degree of education — experiential or otherwise — to accurately judge as expressing good faith accounts #anyway. #critical thinking #fiction

i had my first driving lesson in two months and apart from some missed indicating stuff due to lack of practice, i actually largely did fine lol

the lack of stress i have now while driving due to no pressure from work about it has made me a way better driver even with so little recent practice.

#i mean apart from almost hitting a kid running across a courtesy crossing which i should have spotted #but was focused on the cars at the intersection #but i managed to slow and go around (which would have been an instant test fail) #but i'm not looking to pass any test atm i just want to hold onto the skills i've developed until i'm in a position to take the test again #these are free lessons so likely only once a month or two #it helps that this teacher is chill af and doesn't rage at me or snap or make me feel bad when i make mistakes #just 'all good you know what you did wrong lets move on :)'

On happy creative news, I think I'm done with the front version of Nela's post-recovery outfit afte A LOT of back-and-forth trying to fine-tune it (not as much back-and-forth as her original/main outfit, thankfully) AND I'm done figuring out the face of modern times Samel.

I think. I'm now proceeding to get feedback to determine if I managed to properly convey his age (and general design choices, but I'm most worried about the age part).

Did not fall at ice skating AND I sweated all my rage out at one of my specialists 😎 He gets to live another day and I finished my first session at this rink! I think I made it hmm 6 out of 10 lessons which isn't GREAT, but also. What can you do in these unprecedented times. I remain as ever unable to do a crossover, however a friend I made in class decided the two of us are going to try the next group up in the next session. So at least I'll be learning new stuff and not be bored failing at the same things I've been failing at since 2018. I get to fail at new stuff!

I do think my parents maybe missed the mark not forcing me to do sports as a kid...appreciate them encouraging me to be a sensitive and tenderhearted poet and I think I excel at it, but every time I go ice skating for an hour or go hiking for a couple hours or just move my body in a way that creates endorphins I'm like damn, you guys hear about this?? If you move your body, sometimes it clears your head and makes you feel more hopeful about life?? What?? Amazing.

Anyway, excited to start the next session in July. And if work does change my schedule and I no longer work Saturdays I'm thinking of trying a softball clinic 🤔

Currently trying to figure out how to lightly tell my parents that I am extremely anxious to get Behind The Wheel (as in the thought makes me extremely fearful and not I'm itching to go on a 5 hour drive) and I'd really like Actual Driving Lessons from someone who's Job Is To Teach That. Not that I don't think my dad is a bad driver, but I don't really want my grandpa teaching me =_=
