why are they locking an incredibly requested and necessary accesibility feature behind a limited time cosmetic?? why is it not just a toggle/setting
Bloom in Sky has always been an eyesore for players, both those with and without photosensitivities, and many players have been asking for a feature to toggle/reduce bloom to make the game more accessible to them.
And we finally get that!
Tumblr media
In the form of a PREVIOUS, no longer available cosmetic until 8 more months only available for igc, Accesibility should not be cosmetic.
If they have the ability to give players the option to remove something for accessibility, it should not be restricted to a cosmetic, that many players probably do not have.
the tints are cute and can be sunglasses exclusives but theres gotta be smth better to give to the feast goggles instead of a desired accesibility feature, smth that everyone should have, my god
(the main focus is the feast goggles, the other 2 dont remove bloom)

i encourage people to send feedback if you can, thanks^^

Lol remember that time tgc released the yeti goggles for 2022 days of feast and then at a later date gave them the functionality to remove most bloom from bright areas AFTER the event was already over, very cool
Anyways i got them this time. woo
I will be dead by the time tgc adds actual accessibility settings to this game it is so sad
Adding a major accessibility feature that players have been asking for since the games launch to a limited time seasonal igc cosmetic item is not the best decision they have made i think

With yeti goggles bloom filter

Without bloom filter

being a long term sky player is really jumping back and forth between "holy shit i love this game so much it's unreal" and "tgc only cares about profits and pushes for iaps and the fact that they keep pretending their game is so so so profound and different doesn't make them look any better"

im so tired of grinding in sky it feels like every new addition just jacks up prices more or in some way makes it even more grindy (like with tickets and stuff). Actually insane to me that if i wanted to get just TWO spirit’s of the upcoming season’s stuff, i’d have to play 40 of 70 days if i were f2p.
I have never seen a game company that was so bold in assuming you’d play their game every day for a ton (70) days straight. Never. It’s crazy. It’s evil. They’re just milking this, and it’s terrible

I am kinda of feral about some of the systems that TGC puts in place somewhat because of being a player from like... 3 yrs ago, but also... I really dislike grinding or not making it actually interesting.
I'm haunted by candle runs my fellow skykids, I did so many crs before they changed the candle systems to what they are rn for gathering.
I don't think a normal player should remember where each and every one wax is in an area and how to effectively get to it as fast as possible... nor what days do what candle cakes go and where they are roughly when they use to play <:)

TGC staff posted a statement about the idea theft on reddit
Tumblr media
How do you all feel about that?
I remember the hat drama and I appreciate that TGC finally addresses things but also there is still the fact that they have that part in their TOS that says they can just use our fanart and that's still a big red flag to me.
And I find it suspicious that so many of their items look so similar to the ideas of one person. Hard to believe that it's a coincidence tbh. Hard to believe TGC.

thank you for the follows and the kind words, but I really don't think I have much to offer as I don't do sky art that much anymore and this is more of a blog where I post just about whatever.
I have nothing more to say, but if you're potentially boycotting or quitting in some way here are some other games that I think definitely deserve more attention than they get! especially OMNO

With all the hype of the PC release, the new Season announcement, and the animation clip, the fact that TGC won't be offering free spells during the Cinnamaroll event has been completely overlooked. In addition, the only cosmetics that will be available for free to play users are a tea set and a cupcake headband. Everything else will be iap.

n e ways i miss ubering crs, i miss listening to people play music in home, i miss meeting people from literally all over the world i miss entirely randomly making friends with people i miss teaching moths and being taught all sorts of tricks and oobs, and i think thats what most people got out of the game too, if not at least some of these, and i wish tgc couldve seen that and stopped trying to "patch" things to push iaps instead of improving on these parts of the game we loved.

decided to refine a previous post on why exactly I believe sky children of light is a failed MMO.
In this, let’s think of time as money; in a way, you’re making an investment choice when you choose to play the game, let alone when you choose to actively buy things from it. You could be playing xyz other games, or doing other things.
And in that case... what is there even to invest in?
The gameplay loop is very grindy, and it’s not exactly fun in any way. Most MMOs have games (think a kiddy website) or a raiding aspect (think WoW) that they focus on to varying degrees, even if it’s just a way of earning in game currency/items.
Sky doesn’t really... have that. Calling the quests a game is stretching it; it’s just “go to locations A, B, C, and D” most of the time, which isn’t exactly fun. Each season, the season-based quests are interesting, but again not very engaging as far as gameplay/challenge goes outside of Prophecy, and add roughly 30 minutes of content every 2ish months.
The game is well crafted for a person to spend a month-ish on it, exploring and doing all the main quests, doing Eden once or twice, and then being done with it. What is there to stay for? The primary answer is your friends, but the ways of socializing in this game are extremely limited, primarily due to the aforementioned lack of engaging content (minigames/raids/etc).
I personally realized at some point when I was considering letting a bot grind candles for me and not play otherwise that maybe playing this game just wasn’t fun. The cosmetics are just cosmetics, and often ridiculous prices, and the seasonal stuff comes back anyways for the most part, which really lowers incentive to buy it. I bought stuff for exclusive items and to give some money to TGC, but those items stopped being exclusive (you’re basically paying $10 for just the end items and to get them early if you’re a long term player) and the money doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, what with the small and clunky design of the new seasonal areas (30-60 mins of content + some clunky design choices that leads to areas never being visited again except for lights, such as lack of wax in Abyss and why isn’t the stage a passive wax area???).
I think when you’re a new player, Sky is really fun. It’s a very beautiful and impressive game, and giving it a playthrough like Journey is just perfect. But as an MMO, as something you hypothetically could dump a lot of time into over months, years? I think it’s a failure; there’s not enough there. I only stayed because I wanted it to eventually be good, because it became habit... but a majority of people will trickle off just as I have.
tl;dr/conclusion: Sky doesn’t really have anything that makes it worth staying, let alone buying, and I believe this lack of engaging content will lead to it dying a slow death.

the current days of mischief situation isn’t abt cosmetics really. its about the history of dodgy communication and sketchy behavior from That Game Company towards its playerbase
