If anyone couldn’t tell, I loved LOVED Once Upon a Time’s Belle.

I typically didn’t like optimistic, hopeful, happy characters but Once Upon a Time really did change me in seeing things in different point’s of view. I love Belle and she will always be an inspiration to me.

While I didn’t like the writing of all the character’s in later seasons, I couldn’t abandon my love them.

Emilie did so much with the character with the little screen-time she had. You bet the fandom noticed every eye-roll, facial expression, and reaction Belle had in the background of a scene!! And when she did have material she always brought her all and always shined in each scene no matter who her scene partner was. I am so incredibly happy Belle received her happy ending (or happy beginning) <3.

Goodbye Belle French-Gold and may we see her in Season 7! I’ll be making an Emilie and Rumbelle post later :)

EMILIE DE RAVIN ( BELLE ) WILL NOT BE RETURNING FOR SEASON SEVEN.

I thought I would sooner be writing something about this disaster of a show finally getting the ax before I would be writing about its renewal without Emilie de Ravin. While I don’t talk about my opinions often, it is no secret that my thoughts for the recent seasons of Once Upon a Time are negative. I haven’t enjoyed the show since somewhere in S4. I didn’t even watch S6 for a long time until I missed seeing Belle and Rumple onscreen. My ship has been stomped on to the point of basically no return, and my favorite character has been portrayed in a way which I don’t even recognize her anymore. Adam, Eddy & co. has thrown this wonderful character with so much potential around like a rag doll. I know that’s a cliche phrase, but it is the best representation I can dish out.

I wanted so much for the woman we met in Skin Deep ( which, as they must have forgotten, remains as the #1 episode in this series ). Emilie de Ravin breathed new light into this iconic fairy tale character, and it’s like her creators just didn’t feel it. They pretended to feel it, respect it, and promised to push it forward. However, Emilie de Ravin was treated like a recurring guest star more often than not. Belle was always treated as only Rumplestiltskin’s love interest and a go-to for answers one could find in a book. She rarely had the opportunity to blossom into anything more.

I still ship Rumbelle, but I ship it inside the fanfics, the early seasons of the show and inside my imagination of what it should have been. I still love Belle. I will always love Belle. She was and still is an inspiration to me. I don’t agree with her recent portrayals in the show, and I haven’t for awhile. But that doesn’t change how much she means to me. For a long time, I have felt that Adam & Eddy had a garden in their hands but did not possess green thumbs.

I’m incredibly sad this is the end for Belle, but perhaps it is for the best. She always deserved better than Once Upon a Time could ever give her. I wish Emilie the absolute best in her future endeavors, and the past six years -- opinions aside -- will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will continue to represent Belle in the way I believe she should be represented, and I look forward to reading and enjoying any and all fanfics out there which do the same.

Final body of work.

Revised Goals 7/24/17:

1. Create four works of mixed media art, each exploring the visual aspects, emotional motivations and character personas that affect and develop in a crowd.

2. My subjects will focus on: - Commuters in the subway touching on personal space, devices affecting interaction, an ‘in it together mentality’, - An active and engaged crowd at the Women’s March in DC speaking to power in a collective voice and a group sharing a purpose. - The mentality of a herd of animals, using the unit as strength and protection, raw instinct -Social media and virtual amplification of a voice, empathy and support for new ventures, achieving change and collective intelligence of a ‘Hivemind’.

3. Use a combination of non-digital, mixed media such as paper, paint, tissue, fabric, typography, found objects, stencils and stamps to experiment with patterns, textures, positive and negative space. Explore how these elements can be used to affect the way the viewer feels when viewing my crowd subject. These pieces will differ from my regular process as they are large, 28″x32″ on canvas.

4. I will work to thread a relatively consistent style and voice throughout my works of art so all four pieces live together.
