@gemini-sensei , I might try doing something for this but-

Chubby!Reader who has been with the original group of students from cobra kai. She only ever defected to Miyag-Do after Kreese took over and then she went to Eragle-Fang.

She's always been in the background, but so far back that not even the other background kids see or talk to her. It's almost like she's not there most of the times. For a long time she tries really hard to get some of any attention at that, but nothing worked. Nothing seemed to get her in the spot light, or even noticed for that matter.

So she just goes to class for her own benefit. Only to go home right afterward. She doesn't bother to stick around after practice, it's not like anyone wants to talk to her or hang out. No one makes a move to get to know her, they hardly even look in her direction most of the time. One of the only times she is noticed is when she's paired up with someone. Then right after they don't say a word to her.

Daniel is the only one who seems to care enough to notice her. He's the only one who tends to talk to her, asking about training, how she's doing, and how's school. More than Johnny ever has with the time she's been learning under him. She feels grateful that he at least takes a liking to her. One of the only reasons she keeps showing up.

But things change quickly one day and she snaps.

One day after a long hard trading session most of the students are talking. Everyone has changed out of their workout clothes before muddling around the dojo. Reader is checking out her bag just to make sure she hasn't forgotten anything important. While she is looking she over hears Miguel and Sam talking to the other students. They are all in tight circle having a conversation, Reader decides to walk over. She gets into hearing range to hear them saying how they should all meet up.

The other students get excited about the new idea.

“Can you just send the info to the group chat? So we can all know the time and place to show up?” solemn says. Everyone nods which has Reader stumped.

Group chat? What group chat?

Moments later the huge group starts to split up leaving Reader confused. She quickly tries to flag someone down before they can all leave.

“Hey so you have the group chat info-”

“Can you by chance send me the group chat-”

“Can you add me-”

Every single one of them seem to ignore her. Walking right past her, paying no mind to her or any of her questions. They just leave her standing there, hurt and clueless. Clearly, all of them were part of some dojo group chat. One where they shared group plans and hung out together. Maybe they even talked about things besides what went on at the dojo. What real friends did.

But now it was crystal clear to her, she wasn't their friend and they weren't hers either.

Her attempts at trying to be nice where useless. When she tried to talk to them during class or before, when she offered to help with school work, even when she tried her best to be a shoulder to cry on. None of it seemed to be enough for them to notice her. To care that she was trying to be apart of their friend group.

Even the slight crushes she developed on some of them.

There was no use in trying anymore.

This was the final straw.

That day she left the dojo with a heavy heart and a mind full of deep honest questions about what she needed to do. The dojo was no longer much of a comfort. Being there only made her feel like a outcast, out of place and cold. Why keep going if she could not build any relationships with her peers? While karate itself kept her busy and happy, the environment she was in did not. It only brought her down.

Days passed and time ticked along with all of her thoughts about the dojo. Until one afternoon she decided on her final decision.

She folded up her gi and drove to the dojo.

She looked at Daniel’s face as he sadly took the crisp gi from her hands.

“I don't think I should be in an environment where I'm invisible to those around me. It's not fair to me or them. I'm sorry Sensei.” she bowed lowly to Daniel.

His lips draw down into a slight frown, brows knit as he watches the girl bow.

“I understand, not feeling as if your peers are behind you can be difficult. She shouldn't feel the pain of not fully knowing if they would stick behind you as you would them. I would hope that this is not the last time I see you. I can only hope you don't give up karate over this. You are a great student Reader.” his words priced her heart a little. Standing up she looked at him, her own eyes filled with sadness. She did her best to hold back the tears that slowly started to well in her eyes.

“I promise Sensei, I won't forget all the things you taught me. Maybe one day I can come back. Maybe then I will have a bit more confidence.” her voice cracks a little. With one final nod she turns around and walks away. She gives one last look around, knowing this might be the last time she ever sees the beautiful yard. Sighing she walks back to her car in silence, leaving the small lot without even a second glance.

When the next class comes around, no one notices anything missing. Everyone gets into their respective groups and stands ready for the days lesson.

“So we are going to pair up for today's lesson. So let's all get into pairs and start.” Johnny booms from the front of the group of teens. Quickly everyone starts to team up. Already knowing who they want to be paired with.

“Uhh sensei, I don't have a partner. I think everyone is paired up but me.” its Bert who speaks up.

“What so you mean you don't have a partner?” Johnny questions. They had never has a odd am out of students before. There has always been a even amount among the dojo.

Who wasn't there today? He looks around finding all the familiar faces he knows. He accounts for all of them which has him scratching his head.

“Shit that's my fault Johnny, I completely forgot to tell you. Reader quiet last class, I should have told you as soon as she came to me.”

There was a long pause between the two men. Even the teens stopped to listen in.

“Who?”

“Reader? Last Name? Do you seriously not remember your own student? Now that I'm thinking about it she was a part of your dojo before mine. I would have thought you would have noticed her missing.”

“Still blanking.”

Daniel doesn't even want to keep talking to the man. It's like talking to a brick wall with him.

This idea started to die, but I like to think Poly! Hawk, Sam, Demetri, Robby and Miguel start to feel bad about not paying attention to Reader. They end up following her around school, trying to figure out what they can do to make her come back to the dojo.

But it quickly goes from just trying to get an old teammate to come back to “Oh no we might have started to develop a crush on the girl.”.

Johnny Lawrence is a character that is always pushed down. Him being physically stronger than Daniel doesn't help his mind being constantly challenged. He enters the Karate Kid with his mind strong, with the will to make it better, to make it work. Yeah he beats up Daniel a lot and worse than excusable, but he just wanted to talk to Ali and Ali is pretty mean to him, promising she will talk but then just plays the music again... Daniel sucker punches him first. Daniel humiliates him at the Halloween party and yeah, they beat Daniel up but Mr. Miyagi.. an adult.. breaking a teenager's arm? (Tommy) instead of acting like an adult and de-escalate the situation? Well..

While Daniel is provoking Johnny constantly, Johnny leaves Daniel alone until the tournament, where he again, gets manipulated, humiliated, loses his father figure, gets robbed of his chance to win fairly, still has the courage to get up and give Daniel the trophy, saying he's alright which is an apology, I don't care what other people say. Then outside him getting beaten and humiliated continues with Kreese almost killing him for ending up second place.

And in Cobra Kai it continues... I mean it's also funny and entertaining but it also hurts me to think about how often Johnny is forced to take charity from Daniel, how he can't stop drinking, how everything is always his fault, how he just feels worth of Carmen's affection after performing miracles for her, how he wanted Ali but Amanda says hahah not on my watch, remember Carmen and he's like oh yeah... right then I must love Carmen, I figured it out! (But it was Amanda actually... lol)

I was just watching season 1 again and especially that scene where Johnny is literally on the ground to get his beer and Daniel shows off his dominance because he has the money, it hurts. I wish we had seen Johnny not taking the beer because Daniel paid it or something. Just walking out. Let the man have some dignity!! (I could go on forever I really feel like it got worse in the show to the point where his whole purpose is to fulfill Carmen's dreams but I am rewatching atm and see if I just made it worse in my head, I at least was able to enjoy season 1 again and thats a personal win since I wasn't able to rewatch after s5)

Johnny paying back Sid and finally cut him out of his life is so satisfying to watch, I'm so glad they did that.

I know he has some wins too like I feel equally sad for Daniel when Cobra Kai overpowers his Miyagi-Do presentation and Daniel was so excited for it.. I love watching them get back at each other and all just some nuances leave a bad taste in my mouth when I'm overthinking it.

I love Johnny so much.. He is my comfort character and thinking about all of this hurts me physically. So I try not to. A lot of this in Cobra Kai was done for comic relief and gave us hilarious moments and if I don't think too much about it I can enjoy them all but I, personally, will never enjoy content where Johnny is portrayed as weaker as Daniel or submissive to Daniel or anyone else. (Which doesn't mean he can't have weak moments and Daniel be the one comforting him, that is sth different and I love that!) (I don't enjoy Daniel being 'babygirled' either but that's a different story, lol)

Just some thoughts I needed to get out of my system with my sunday morning coffee =)

You. 🫵 Top 5 Moments in The Karate Kid Novelization

so for anyone who wants to read a lot of bits and pieces of the Karate Kid novelization, click the read more bc I uhhh. Well I went kind of crazy on this ask. Sorry, friend lmfao

1. Well I made a post about it before but CAN'T FUCKING FIND IT. But anyway, you and I both know the top moment is when we see what goes through Daniel's head as Mr. Miyagi gives him a bonsai and urges him to picture a tree:

"He saw it. It stood, a cypress on a cliff by an ocean, beaten and shaped by the harsh wind and salt air. Its branches withstood the environment and reached bravely for nourishment and survival. It was lonely and beautiful" (Hiller 39-40).

I love this moment bc it resonates with the theme of healing yourself and obtaining strong roots through reaching for help and connection from other people, and not falling to anger, bitterness, etc. Wounds can be healed, y'know? And Daniel is stronger than he looks, and not alone anymore. (Also how you mentioned it coincidentally reminds you of the bonsai in KK3?? INSANE!!)

2. Next would be all the moments that clue you in to how kind and considerate Daniel is toward his mother. He has his pissy teenage boy moments, but he loves his mom so much, and wants a good life for both of them, even at the expense of himself. A couple examples:

[After he is beat by Johnny on the beach]

"'Oh, Daniel! What happened?'

Daniel wanted to tell her something she could believe. She had enough worries of her own and he didn't want her to have to worry about him, too" (18).

Very very sweet. But Daniel, she's your mother!! She will worry, and you gotta be honest </3

[After The Cobras ran him off the road]

"'I'm sorry doesn't help, Ma. I want to go home. I don't understand the rules here.'

'You know, hon. I'm not so sure I understand them myself. It's been a little rocky here for me, too, though I've made it through three days without getting a black eye.' Daniel caught the twinkle in her eye and smiled despite himself.

... 'Let's get you cleaned up and we'll see if we can't figure out the rules together.' She put her arm around Daniel's shoulders and they began to walk to the apartment together" (37).

I love this moment!!! Lucille lets Daniel know they are in this together. They are able to share their hardship with one another, and bounce back from it not just to soldier on, but to be there for each other!!

3. Honestly, I thought it was cheesey at first, but from a literary standpoint, the Garden of Eden allusion/motif. Some examples:

[At first he sarcastically/bitterly thinks of "the Garden of Eden" his mother calls California. This is as he ponders about insecurities about Ali, then distracts himself with thoughts of his tree.]

"He thought of his bonsai tree and how he had pruned it and clipped it so that it almost looked like the picture in his mind ー the one thing that flourished in this Garden of Eden" (44).

I love the way he thinks back to his bonsai and what Mr. Miyagi has given him, but this passage is kind of saddening as much as it scratches my brain

[The last line of the novel presents the phrase very differently (positively). It is pretty cheesy, but it's grown on me. Context within the quote.]

"How can I go wrong, he thought, with a terrific man like Mr. Miyagi for a friend, the most beautiful ... girlfriend ... a mother who will spring for lobsters every time I win the All Valley ...

A guy could really turn on to a Garden of Eden like this" (131).

I'm happy for him! This is how the ending should always be! The joy!!

4. Bobby's moments make me fucking INSANE. I think it was handled pretty well, all things considered. So: Bobby Brown renouncing Cobra Kai.

[After being commanded by Kreese to take Daniel out of commission, then beginning his match with Daniel]

"Bobby stood still, his eyes locked with Kreese's. Daniel couldn't understand what was happening as he observed a battle of wills between Bobby and Kreese ...

Once again [Bobby's] eyes shifted to Kreese, then back to Daniel ...

From the stretcher, [Daniel] watched Bobby exit the ring to catcalls from the audience. Bobby stopped just long enough to untie and discard his belt at Kreese's feet and walk out, shattered.

The Cobra, it seemed, could be poisoned by its own venom" (119-120).

THE COBRA POISONED BY ITS OWN VENOM? SHATTERED??? yeah I'm insane about this. Bobby...Bobby...

5. Lastly, bc who cares about these gay bitches (me, I do), all the moments that could be associated with lawrusso if you squint:

"As their eyes measured each other, Johnny's body moved, catlike, into a karate stance ...

Johnny and his gang mounted their dirt bikes" (16).

Cat-like, huh...mounted you say...this is some strange description, Daniel

"[Ali] smiled at him one more time and rushed off, almost bumping into Johnny. Daniel realized that Johnny had witnessed his entire conversation with Ali" (20-21).

Why are you so close, so transfixed, Johnny...

"Calmly, [Daniel] smeared the gob of blueberry gunk on Johnny's shirt. Mayhem erupted" (30) ...

"Johnny just stared at him ... Silently, Johnny brushed Daniel's bicycle to the limit" (34).

:( The bullying moments ... PIE!!! PIE!!! I love what a little shit Daniel is there. This moment doesn't have the sensuality of the deleted scene though. But I do like Johnny's STARE in the next part

"So, he learned Johnny's class schedule and avoided him" (43).

I get it but also. Hmm. Okay...🏳️‍🌈

"Johnny stood in front of him, soaking wet. He put his hands on his hips" (49).

This is just hilarious cuz a lot of us like to call Johnny a Wet Beast for Daniel. Also hands on his hips is just a funny and endearing moment, what a shit lol

"Daniel carefully evaded Johnny's grasp, but realized it was going to be a losing battle. Johnny was bigger" (66-67).

THE EMPHASIS...HUH. I GET IT. BUT ALSO. OKAY...🏳️‍🌈

"For there, on the dance floor, was Ali ー dancing with Johnny. Johnny's eyes met Daniel's" (88).

Gayass

"He'd have to ... meet Johnny at the tournament, completing the battle they'd begun that first day on the beach" (96) ...

[After Daniel returns to the arena, and Johnny meets his eyes] "Daniel wondered for an instant if there was a slight flicker of relief in those stony eyes, but rejected the thought" (123) ...

"Daniel and Johnny circled, each looking for a point of attack, each oblivious to the rest of the rest of the world" (124).

The tournament! I love the phrases...the battle that begun on the beach...Johnny's recognition of and buried hope for Daniel...their eyes only for each other, for this fight...

[After the tournament] "Daniel had won the crowd's respect; he'd won Johnny's respect; most important, however, he'd won his own self-respect" (125) ...

"Finally, Daniel stood next to Johnny. They bowed. Their eyes met in genuine respect" (126).

I love Daniel's journey toward his self-respect, that is so important to me. But also Johnny's HEHEH....Cobra Kai take notes.

ANYWAY UH YEAH. THERE YOU GO. THIS LITERALLY TOOK ME LIKE AN HOUR (PROBABLY MORE). LOL...

Headcanons of being Johnny Lawrence's best friend

•You met him Before he started dating Ali, you caught him outside of class installing a paint bomb on the hippie economics teacher's car,(The motherland of student rights) obviously you helped him by giving away the stuffed mouse. And open that you stole from the science lab(she had failed you, she deserved the mouse)

•He found you cleverly funny, but he was wrong about you, you didn't want to be his friend, he told his friends about you and they ended up sitting at your table at lunch, at that moment Did you understand the phrase “if you can't beat your enemies, join them”

•Surprisingly everyone liked you, so you started go out with them, and you became an honorary cobra (without the need to know Kreese, or understand karate)

•However, you were still a woman and they were still natural bastards, so you didn't get rid of their sexism, (and let's just say that the fact that you treated them as if you were their mother didn't help much)

•Obviously they took you everywhere, and you had as much fun as they did being the center of attention, and subduing the weak, but as the most mature person, (more than Bobby), you also made sure To let them know when they were going too far (like with Daniel on the beach, and at the Halloween party,Although they don't always listen to you and technically you allow that, or rather you are a slightly spoiled mother.) You also take care of them and watch them at the bar when they are too drunk, you are the only reason why Ali is not worried that Johnny might become unfaithful.

•You really tried to help with the whole Ali and Johnny thing, everyone was sure the teenagers would make up thanks to his stoned spy disguised as cupid, but then Daniel came to scene and the rest is history

•The dark-skinned not to your liking But you weren't giving up your girls for him, which upset the boys and almost caused a dilemma with the Cobras and your female friends accusing you of being an infiltrator.

•Then everything started to decline and decline until we got to the point where Kreese almost killed your boy, and well you never thought that hate at first sight existed.

•You took care of the boys that night and continued doing so for a long time, until they recovered and managed to move forward without you.

•All except one, "former karate king Johnny now cursed Lawrence"

•And well you had always been good with people's feelings, so you stayed

•So nowadays, you were practically one of the reasons why the blonde was still breathing after all the drama he had had the last 34 years of his life.

•You went to visit him every 4 or 6 days a month, you organized his house, you gave him good food and let's say you provided him with that human contact that he rarely had now

•Sometimes Johnny didn't leave everything to you, that was the good thing about his dynamic, you never knew what you would find when you opened the door, an energetic, depressive, airy, affectionate, responsible Johnny, he took a Disaster, there were many possibilities between his multiple personalities, but at the end of the day it would always be the two of you on a couch, Trying to return through television to the time where the boy had everything he needed and was really happy

•That's why he kept you in his life, you were like a paradox, a constant memory of his best and worst times, which were intertwined with each other all the time, but at the end of the day nothing changed, that That was your conclusion, obviously he had nothing to say or think about it.

•One of the aspects in which it helped the most was with Robby being his almost godmother, you managed to get them to see each other from time to time, and that on most occasions no one was on the defensive.

•One day when you took your friend's car for an inspection, you found the boy being an assistant (you didn't know it was Larruso's business) and you ended up meeting your best friend's enemy again.Robby introduced them

“This is y/n Mr. Daniel, my mother's friend" you looked at him confused, because of his half lie

"a pleasure sir"

“I say the same, miss.” After a while, holding your hand, he added, “Excuse me, but I feel like I know you from somewhere.” You looked askance at Robby and he looked really uncomfortable.

“I'm sorry, I couldn't tell you.”

“Her name again”

“y/n” thought for a few seconds, until he finally understood

“that's right, we were in the same school, don't you remember me?”

“I'm sorry, there are too many people there, and my memory doesn't help me.”

“We went together high school last year, i was the boy that you and your friends bullied” He said with a little pain, and your laughter at a memory from the past, it didn't seem to help

“which one?”

“The one who won the al valley” your eyes widened, so Larruso was back, and Robby knew who he was and still played along.

“Why so quiet and serious?” He said when they were heading for takeout before taking him home. “I don't remember a time in my life when you went more than 10 seconds without talking,” he laughed nervously.

“"My God, Robby Keene, you really know what you're doing, what's your father going to say?"

“He has no right to interfere in my life, I spend time with whoever I want, and we're not in the eighties anymore, he should grow up and get over it”

“Maybe you're right, but this isn't just because of your father, who Your beloved sensei is going to say, when he finds out who you are, there is no one who holds more grudges than the good guys."

“For me, they won't find out, I'm good at secrets, unless you want to have a talk with them."

“y/n doesn't go where she's not called, except to scold you” he smiled a little as a thank you

“So you were a bully huh?”You laughed pleasantly, “I still am, you don't survive as a woman in business unless you subdue men.”

•All the triggering events followed, the boy Miguel, the return of Cobra Kai, fights, accidents, reappearances,You decided not to waste your words on all that, if they didn't listen to you, why watch (obviously you continued to be emotional support)

•The most important moment for you was when the cobras got together and you were able to share again with the whole gang together (except for dutch, it hurt a little)

•Tommy's death was a really hard blow, when they told you the news you went into a small crisis, (the boys had not seen you like this since the night Kreese tried to kill Johnny)It was the second time they saw you cry.

•Curiously, after that came better times,

•You were truly amazed to see Johnny finally experiencing peace, and he was pleased that you were part of it.

TW: This post discusses suicidal ideation of a fictional character

I’ve been rewatching Cobra Kai with my mom and I have so many thoughts about this interaction that I wanted to share because it’s this tiny moment I never thought about before but I feel like it has so many implications for Robby’s whole character arc.

So one thing that stood out to me specifically other than how much all the adults let all the kids in this show down was something Shannon said to Daniel while Robby was eating right before they called the police.

She says “he’s not right Daniel, he keeps talking like he’s gonna leave town or something” which struck me as odd for a few reasons which are all very speculative but whatever I’m sharing them anyways.

So first things first Shannon has been completely clueless and apathetic toward Robby throughout the entire show from blowing him off and leaving him home alone to completely abandoning him for weeks on end without power and getting mad at him for defending himself from one of her partners so it can’t exactly be said that she notices when things are bad with him.

Now it could be argued that going through rehab changed that behavior but she still chooses not to go after her sixteen year old son who is a homeless fugitive because her life coach said she shouldn’t look for him, if she’d wanted to actually do something for him that was her chance so she clearly hasn’t changed that much.

So it was weird to me that she suddenly seemed so much more worried after talking to him even though she had more information about where he was, think how wrong something had to be for her to notice and be that worked up about it. She literally begs Daniel to help Robby.

Then there’s the fact that she says “he’s not right” which is quite intense and comes across very dark in my mind like she’s not just saying he’s upset she’s saying there’s something seriously wrong and again she’s proven herself to be incredibly clueless so coming from her this statement is even more concerning.

Then she says “he keeps talking like he’s gonna leave town or something.” So the fact that she says like makes it feel like Robby didn’t just flat out say he was going to leave town he said something that made Shannon feel like he was talking about leaving town. This point is further highlighted by her saying “or something” at the end.

Between both of these uncertain statements it becomes clear that he didn’t say he was leaving town but said something about leaving and the rest of the conclusion Shannon drew herself. Technically he could’ve been just talking about leaving town but given the fact that it’s been weeks and he had a car previously it seemed like if that was his plan he’d have done it already.

So what we really have is a sixteen year old who was abused and neglected his whole life, who had been told every horrible thing you could be told by the people he trusted the most, has terribly low self esteem, has been abandoned by the only mentor he thought he had twice despite that person knowing he would be homeless, had been cheated on by his girlfriend and only friend, nearly killed someone, and has been living on the streets for weeks saying something along the lines of “I need to get out of here” and “I can’t do this anymore.”

Something that could be interpreted as wanting to leave town or wanting to leave something but he never specified what and his mom who is clueless about him in general is freaking out saying that he isn’t right. On top of this he has no one on his side in the world and has been through unbearable trauma.

You see after this how quickly he gives up fighting the cops is so out of character for him and thinking that he’s in this place of being so ready to just end everything makes so much sense for why he was willing to go with Kreese and join Cobra Kai. He’d already given up and the thought that he was in such a horrible place helps explain so many of his actions in seasons three and four.

So yeah that’s my thoughts on this, I’m super curious about whether this makes anyone else rethink this scene or the rest of Robby’s arc.

GEMINI what are your thoughts on how the boy's parents would react to their kids?

like i think johnny would be happy but panicky at the same time, he's nervous for robby. he supports robby as well as he knows how, and prays that robby doesn't make the mistakes he did.

carmen and miguel's yaya would be SOOOO happy for him, and they're so supportive!! they're in utter shock (in the good way) when they find out that there's triplets on the way.

i don't know what to think about eli's parents or anything cause we only saw his mom Once. but i like to think he tells daniel and amanda, as well as johnny, and they're so so happy for him!! i think daniel and/or amanda came up the the terror twins title.

I love this and I've thought a lot about this since I got it.

He thinks he knows what he's talking about when it comes to being a dad, but he never had a good father figure in his entire life, so most of his principles come from TV and movies. Old TV and movies. So sometimes it's questionable. So he'll give advice and if Robby has to question that advice whatsoever, he usually does the opposite of that or gets a second opinion.

However, none of that has to do with Johnny's feelings about his granddaughter/grandchild (grandchildren). Somehow, "father" and "grandfather" get separated in his mind. So he doesn't think he needs the experience of being a father to be a good grandfather. He's a fun grandpa, but he's not the best when it comes to babysitting. He needs a supervisor if he's gonna watch the grand-babies tbh.

All that to say, yes, he's happy but worried, but tries to play it off. Like, he tries to ignore his worries when in front of Robby, but keeps himself up and night hoping Robby knows what he's doing because for the life of him, he doesn't.

Carmen and Rosa are so excited. They sit with Miguel and his wife for hours just talking about when Miguel was a baby and even when Rosa had Carmen. When it's announced that there's three, they are quiet for a moment and then they're cheering. The information takes a moment to sink in but they're so happy. More babies to love! They're also ready to go all hands on deck and be helpful.

We saw Rosa make Miguel a Halloween costume out of olf nedsheets, but I think for her great grandchildren, she'd save up to buy new fabric and yarn to make them little hays and baby blankets. Does to crochet or knot? I don't know, but I know she sews and there's a lot that can be done there. I just love that trope of someone (not necessarily a grandparent) making baby blankets. [Unrelated, but Moon gives me that give a lot.]

For the Moskowitz parents, they're hard to pinpoint. I have a solid headcanon for Eli's mom, but I flip-flop with his dad a lot. So for context, I think Eli's mom is supportive of her son, she gives him the means to do whatever he wants, but she's not really there or paying attention. She works and that keeps her undivided attention unless something is very obviously wrong, like her son crying. She probably freaked out about the forced shave because her son was assaulted, but Eli probably begged her to let it go and never named names. With his silence and shutting down, she dropped it in hopes that it would help him get back to himself. He also hid a lot of the stuff he did whilst in CK - the tattoos, the bad behavior, etc - so she probably thought for a while, he was well mannered and didn't have to worry about him.

As far as his dad goes, I think he's away a lot. Either in the office all day, 9 to 5 sort of thing, and only sees his son late at night or on the weekends, on the rare chance they're home at the same time. Eli wants a better relationship with his father but has stopped trying to achieve that and started reaching out to other father figures he could find; he did this with Johnny, Kreese and Daniel and relieved different things from them. Johnny gave him tough love, I can't think of the word but whatever the fuck Kreese did, and then Daniel gave him the opportunity to earn respect and gave it back to him. That's why I believe Daniel is the best sensei for Hawk because in the beginning, they were reaching out to each other but missing, but given the tools and lessons needed, Hawk was able to build bridges, earn Daniel's respect, and in turn respect Daniel for what he was offered.

With all that out of my system, Eli's parents are shocked, but supportive. I honestly see his dad being business-like and very analytical, but means well. So he asks the hard questions; are you sure your ready for this? What's your plan? How are you gonna support two babies? It comes off as lecture-y, but it's from hisnheart. He wants his son to succeed as a parent and that first means being a provider. His mom is ecstatic. She hugs him and his girlfriend (in my mind they got pregnant first, had the baby, then got married) (also Eli would be kind of sappy and want to include their kids in the wedding, I mean they're literally a living symbol of the love he has for his gf/wife) they're there for him, but he struggles to connect with them as parents/soon to be parents.

I like the idea of Eli going to Daniel and Amanda. He looks at them and sees two people who not only raised two pretty great kids, but made it. They have a business, they have theblife they wanted for themselves and their kids, they're happy with their family and each other. They support each other despite some of the crazy ass shit they do (for Daniel it's getting involved in the karate war, for Amanda it is all her hot headed reactions; they're perfect for each other and I love it [yes I'm over looking Amanda being done with the shit because it was pulling Daniel's attention away and blah blah blah, that was a bump in their marriage and those happen]) where was I? Oh yeah, Eli.

So he goes to them and asks for advice on stuff, especially when they find out about the twins. He's excited but nervous for twins. So he asks them how to go about having two kids and they offer him the best advice.

It was Daniel that said "two Hawks... that's almost a nightmare."

And Amanda said "watch them be terror twins."

I also like to think that, even though we know nothing about Demetri's home life, Eli would also look to his mom (I personally think Demetri lives with his single mom). Demetri and Eli are binary brothers, they had sleepovers, it was Demetri's mom he would have to wake up in the middle of the night because he wet the bed. Yes, I believe he'd go to all the parents he knows and use bits and pieces of what they all offer him to inform his future parents decisions.

Johnny is, well, Johnny. He's proud but terrified that his son, Miguel and Eli are going to be fathers. He's watched them all grow onto young men; give or take what time he spent with Robby. Actually no, when they decided they were gonna fix their relationship was a big step for them. With Miguel and Eli, he basically helped shape them into who they are today, or at least got them on that path. He's proud.

He also finds it very hilarious that they manage to knock up their ladies around the same time. He's also a dumbass and gives the guys credit for it, especially to Miguel and Eli for having triplets and twins even though that's not how it works exactly. You can't tell him any different though, he won't understand. I wouldn't waste the time or brain power trying to explain how someone gets pregnant with multiple, let alone the different between identical and fraternal.

This got super long, but I had a lot of thoughts lol 😅 anything I missed? Anything you wanna add?

LIMO POSSE: a lawrusso nsfw fanfiction.

Summary : After the aftermath of the fight at the dojo in the season five finale, Johnny and Daniel have a talk after everyone else leaves. Alone at the back of the limo, they begin to discover things about each other. Being them, it ends up heated and messy and so very them.

Notes: I haven't written smut in a long time but here is my attempt to some emotional porn. And of course, the first to get this treatment are my idiot men. Enjoy. This is an old fanfic I wrote for my now deleted AO3.

They make sure to take all of the kids back to their homes. That was the priority for the night. Shannon came by to pick Robby up and the look on her face when she saw he was injured made both men ache. But she didn’t blame them, simply hugged Daniel as she always does, somehow always grateful for what he does, and with Johnny. . .they were working things out. But she nods in his direction. She takes Tory too and some of the Reseda kids and part ways. Carmen and Amanda leave together and take Miguel, Sam, and Anthony with them.

“That’s not fair, I want to stay with dad.” Anthony proclaims as he gushes like the kid he once knew about how cool he was and how his dad was much better than other dads. But Amanda nudges him forward. They are all aware of how much he and Johnny needed to talk. The ambulance takes both Chozen and Barnes, at Daniel’s insistence and he watches them go, and all of a sudden, they are alone.

In front of a Cobra Kai dojo, now empty, the sirens are gone and so are the kids. Silver is gone. Kreese is out of jail. Somehow, what had felt like the end, now felt like a prelude to another storm. Johnny is not unreadable, though. For all of his tough exterior, the alcohol and adrenaline had left him worn down, ripe for the plucking, and for Daniel to see through him.

He is troubled. Who wouldn’t be? Somehow, they end up at the back of the dojo, all doors locked because of evidence and all that police procedure. The limo had been parked there and no one had taken it. Louie would kill him but for now, it felt like a little safe haven for both of them. To sit and relax. Side by side, knees bumping into one another as they breathe. He needs the moment to refocus back into reality, half expecting Johnny to complain, except, all he hears is the other man on his side.

Daniel doesn’t realize Johnny is mimicking his breathing until the third time he inhales and looks to his side, the man breathing deeply and releasing. Somehow, he is transfixed by the sight, the way his chest fills up, blue eyes closed as he focuses on it.

It almost feels rude to wake Johnny up from the exercise but they can’t just sit beside one another like that and do nothing. “Johnny. . .it’s gonna be okay. We got this.” Because what else is left to say? Daniel let his head linger by the side, focusing on Johnny as his eyes open and he stares straight ahead. “God, I’m tired, but. . .we just need a plan, be prepared-”

“--Aren’t you tired of us, man?” A pause at the interruption, as blue eyes finally snap back at him. They always make him so alert, because he isn’t sure how to react to them, not even now when they are friends. Johnny is like the ocean, unpredictable but you can walk away from it once you are swept under his force. He is about to ask what he means when the man just continues. “We have been at each other’s throats for thirty-four years. We fight, all the fucking time.”

He frowns, yeah, they kept doing that but lately, they've just been circling around each other. Just friends. Something grows inside the pit of his belly, and he aches, thinking of what it could mean. Under all that fighting and hatred, is it really that simple? They could be so much more and yet, friends don't simply cut it. “We are talking now, Johnny.”

Their knees bump into each other again as Johnny moves closer, crowding him against the door of the limousine. His whole body tense and prepares, like it often does, as Johnny is gripping the sides of his jacket and pulling, and Oh , that’s familiar. “Fight, talk, we keep doing this shit. Do you feel like talking?” The question hangs in the air and he almost misses it, because of the way he feels Johnny’s hot breath hitting his mouth.

Too close. His body tries to wiggle out of the pressure of the others like it often did in high school. Except for this time, he feels something pressuring him back. Oh . That was different. What the fuck. It feels heavy against him, where it was clear that he was feeling the same way. “What do you want to do then, Johnny?” And fuck, he should probably fight back and tell Johnny that he is drunk. Except not drunk enough because he hasn’t felt this clear in years.

He is tired too. Fighting is all they did. They keep their distance and be friends now except it doesn’t feel like it’s enough for either one. But there is something in those blue eyes as he feels the grip on him loosen. “Don’t fuck with me, LaRusso.”

Daniel doesn’t let him say anything else before he moves and leans forward, surging Johnny’s lips into a kiss and shutting him up. And it’s so sloppy, between the stingy breath of alcohol and the taste of blood and yet, so perfect. It’s uncomfortable, his back aches from the position he is pressed on but he can’t really hate it when Johnny presses down and feels him through the fabrics of clothes.

“I am fucking with you , Johnny. No fight, or talk. You could’ve died today.” I could’ve lost you . And Johnny attacks his lips again, and finally, he feels some of that aggression he loves on Johnny come back with full force as his tongue presses into his mouth and Daniel opens up for him, moaning into the feeling, exploring each other with too much force, too much need.

Fuck . Thirty-four years to figure this shit out. And yet, he can’t have it any other way, as strong hands grip his waist and pull him up, close. His legs straddling Johnny’s and he takes a moment to breathe and not hit the ceiling with his head. They really are doing this. Holy Fuck. “Off.” He points toward Johnny’s jacket as he struggles with his own.

finally going to make a post expanding on the familiar assignments from this post

again, quick lore summary: everyone is born with a magic seed, they plant this seed when they hit puberty and eventually it grows and blooms into an animal companion (familiar) that they spend the rest of their lives with.

the blooming is generally agreed on to happen when the person 'finds themself' which usually happens in the 16-22 age range but it can be known to happen later or in rare cases, never.

The animal has to be one the person has seen before with their own eyes. zoos and international safari trips are very popular with teens who want to try and get cool animals.

Another note is the 'intelligence' of the familiar relies on how their person treats them. The more human they're treated, the more human they'll act and vice versa. Silvers for example acts eerily human and seems like shes seconds away from speaking english at any moment while Miyagis is indistinguishable from a regular animal from its species.

i'll note down character - familiar - approx. age of acquiring - and reason (if i have one) for all the ones i have figured out below the cut

so. start out with the obvious:

Daniel has a mongoose. specifically a yellow mongoose. he got it after the castle fight in tkk2. Mongoose was obvious for the mongoose vs cobra thing ofc but I also just really associate especially tkk Daniel with a small scrappy animal. If I didn't go with mongoose I think I'd go with something like a weasel or a ferret. Something small and twisty and flippy.

Johnny has a hornet. I think I modelled the one in the drawing after an Asian giant hornet. Something Big. He gets his a lot later, when he's in his mid 20s ish. A little later than Normal but not so late it's strange. I went with a hornet for a few reasons. First, gold and black are so johnnys colours. Second, I wanted him to have something a little Unconventional and bug familiars usually tend to be (but it still had to be something appropriately badass). Hornets can also be solitary but also it isn't weird for them to be in pairs or groups and I felt like that's fitting for Johnny.

Kreese has a prairie falcon. He got it during that brief window right after he enlisted but before he was sent away when he had a Girl and a Purpose and everything seemed to be going his way. I wanted Kreese to have something that appeared unassuming but was a dangerous predator and my wife and I decided on a bird of prey of some kind. We figured during his youth he likely wouldn't have seen too many exotic animals so something native to his general area would be best and we further narrowed down to a prarie falcon from there. They're a fast and highly accurate falcon with rlly good eyesight and the idea of a piercing glare staring down at students along with Kreeses own stony look felt right. (They're also known for hunting snakes <3)

Silver feels like another very obvious one, he has a King Cobra. Clearly the model for the cobra kai logo <3. He got his after they returned from Vietnam, when he started trying on different personalities to see what fit. (This means his was also fairly late). Silver is a lot more slippery and sleek than Kreese and a snake felt much more fitting as his familiar. (He also has less direct Snake Pit Trauma so still thought snakes were cool). As a young adult, his familiar would've been out on show 24/7 but I think as he grows older, he hides her in his clothes or leaves her at home to maintain his image as relaxed and chill philanthropist. Until of course, he's called back to the action.

Amanda has a leopard. She got it in her early years of college, during her bleach blonde self cut bobcut era and according to everyone who knew her at the time, during her "rebellious phase". But whatever she was going through, she mustve known exactly who she was through it. I gave her a leopard because I felt like something big and elegant that could absolutely rip your throat out would be perfect for her and I could also just see her lounging around with it like it's a regular housecat.

Miyagi has a koi fish. He got it during his teen years and carried it in a bowl with him to America when he left Okinawa. He currently keeps it mixed with the regular koi in his koi pond and the only way you could pick it out is the size of it compared to the others. Miyagi having a fish felt right. It's a simple but beautiful creature which I think fit his ideals well. He doesn't treat it as anything special (something a young Daniel finds appalling) but just gives it the respect he would give any living creature in his care.

Bobby gets a ram. His also was post high school, I wanna say midway through his degree. Ram felt right for Bobby for a few reasons. First, the obvious lamb=god=pastor connection. Rams are also notoriously stubborn animals that are aggressive in a fight which is Very Bobby imo. But sheep in general have a reputation for being very gentle creatures and Bobby fits that too.

Dutch my boy Dutch <3 got a gaboon viper. He got it during high school, peak cobra kai era. His senseis were very impressed with his dedication to the dojo. He was one of the first ones I thought of something for. I wanted him to have a snake for sure and a big thick chunky snake like a gaboon viper just felt so right for him. (Note about familiars with venoms and poisons, the toxicity is very diluted. So his snake can still make you feel awful with a bite but it won't kill you)

Tommy gets a hyena. His was also during high school, I feel like he was the first of the gang to get one. Hyenas are a pack animal and Tommy very much feels like One of the pack. He also seems to have a higher pitched laugh which is very hyenacore so it just felt right for him.

Jimmy has a chocolate labrador. I feel like his was post high school but before he started college. Domestic dogs and cats are very common familiars and Jimmy, as much as I love him, is our most basic boy. I've also just made jokes abt dogboy Jimmy since before I made the au so it was a natural fit.

Ali also gets a dog, this time a cinnamon border collie. Hers comes in college, either her first or second year, I haven't fully decided. While she is conforming to the norms by having a dog, she's standing out a little in her family by having a working breed, something highly intelligent and driven, rather than a pretty lapdog thats just for show. She needed something that matched her intelligence and drive and a border collie fit that.

Lucille has a house sparrow. I haven't thought too much about when she got hers but I imagine it was a fairly typical presentation. I wanted to give her something more common and something that was always moving and a sparrow felt right for that. Always flitting around with lots to say.

Chozen gets an Okinawan rail. His familiar doesn't bloom until s3 of cobra kai, after he's reconciled with Daniel. He had resigned himself to a life without one and was very shocked by it.

Now for some more CK era characters

Carmen has a beetle. I haven't figured out specific type yet, I was tossing up between some kind of jewelled beetle or a horned one. She and Johnny initially bond over both having bug familiars (Johnny is used to girls being like ewww a bug) #bugsquad

Miguel gets a jumping spider. I imagine his comes just after his Mexico trip. Even though it was an incredibly messy time in his life, that trip gave him enough closure that the pieces clicked into place. He's Very pleased to join the bug squad. Jumping spider felt like a good match for him, especially with how bouncy he is when he fights.

Robby has a fly. He actually got his fairly young, before the events of the show started. He is Less pleased to be in the bug squad. As a kid he always felt invisible and small like a fly and as he grew he started to embrace that feeling as it helped with his CrimeBoy Antics. We wanted to give Robby something that had a link to Johnny and in a previous au with this setting we had a pickpocket with a beetle familiar who used the familiar to help steal so we reused that concept here bc it worked well.

Samantha gets a crane. I haven't decided exactly when she gets hers but I'm thinking it's sometime during s2/3. She's got somewhat mixed feelings about it due to not wanting to be her dads mini-me but also its nice to have that connection to her grandpa. Cranes I feel combine the elegance of amandas familiar with the iconicness/irony of Daniels and the vibe of it in general just felt like a good fit for Sam.

Eli ofc gets a hawk. Nothing clever about that. He doesn't get it until after winning the tournament though.

Demetri gets a rabbit. His comes around s3/4ish and at first he does Not get it at all but eventually comes to vibe with it. Rabbits are an animal I've associated with Demetri since I got into the fandom and I just feel like it's very fitting for him. Something flighty and unassuming but that Can pack a nasty kick if needed. And I rlly like the idea of Demetri picking up thumping his foot from the rabbit when he's agitated its fun <3

Stingray is another obvious one <3 he gets a stingray. It happens the night after coyote creek. He's Very late to have one bloom but is absolutely ecstatic and is very enthusiastic about the salt water tank he had to set up for it. Please ask him about his salt water tank.

Tory doesn't have one yet. At her point in the story I just haven't felt she's hit that right time but I think she's getting close. I do think however that she has a pet tarantula that she tells people is her familiar to scare them.

Anthony also doesn't have one, he's too young. But I'm getting a bird vibe.

Yasmin has me and my wife Really torn because we want her to have something Unconventional that She thinks is the most beautiful creature in the world and we're leaning towards an Australian animal bc of where she spends half the show which keeps leading us to joking that Yas gets a fucking. Cassowary. And it's so funny

Louie has a raccoon and he puts a little bowtie on it and keeps bringing it into work and getting into trouble for scaring customers.

Anoush has a little otter and he is Allowed to bring him into work and the customers all find him very charming and it makes Louie seethe with jealousy.

Meta rant under the cut (not necessary to understand the comic):

So there’s this quick moment where Daniel offers a handshake to Johnny right after the sucker punch in the beach fight. He says, “Okay, man, now we’re even, huh?” angling for some sort of truce, but he keeps his right hand raised in a fist, protecting his face. It’s quick, but this moment says a lot about how Daniel and Johnny function within and react to the world around them.

Daniel offers the handshake, but is that only because he’s losing? He knows the fight’s inevitable as much as Johnny: he’s got the fist up. The fist is sincere. But is the handshake? As far as Johnny’s concerned, there’s only one path forward that makes sense: they finish the fight. But Daniel offers nonviolence, equilibrium as an alternative. It’s a baffling move.

Does Daniel actually believe they can end this here? Right after he landed the first real hit? Is he dumb? Or is this just plausible deniability in front of Ali (‘see, I offered him an out! I’m the good guy!’) Is it a taunt, like Johnny probably sees it?

It reads like an ill-fated attempt to save his skin, doomed to fail, but he tries it anyway. He’s got his pride and his world view (“well, it wasn’t his, was it?”) and someone to defend, so he doesn’t back down, but he can also try to turn this around (and maintain the moral high ground) by letting Johnny decide: the hand of friendship, or the way of the fist. If Johnny chooses peace, well hallelujah! But if he chooses violence, hey, Daniel’s still a good guy. The guy who got beat on, yeah, but for standing up for what is right. Daniel has moral clarity in spades and the strength and spunk to defend it.

Johnny really doesn’t have that same strength in identity and purpose that allows Daniel to adapt and prosper (when he’s not beset on by enemy forces) in life. Johnny’s plans at the beginning of this movie are so heartfelt and good and simple: he’s got one year to make it work, and that’s what he’s going to do, make it work. But the second he’s faced with Ali snubbing him and Daniel standing up to him, he throws all that out thoughtlessly. Because what he does and who he is are not the same in his brain. He molds himself into a Kreese clone to get friends, success, and a girlfriend. And that’s worked until recently. But his life is built on shaky foundations. (Enter Daniel “Bull in a Bonsai Shop” LaRusso.)

I think the difference between Johnny and Daniel is that Johnny only ever sees one path forward, he’s rigid. And Daniel’s flexible, he can see outside of what is supposed to happen, to what he really wants to happen. How he thinks the world could work, if people weren’t so hung up on pride and selfishness and how they’re supposed to be doing things. I think that’s why Johnny and him clash so badly in Karate Kid: Daniel is a disturbance to the natural order. He is a destabilizing element to the balance of Johnny’s universe (he questions Kreese!). He is another way to live and be happy outside of the narrow confines of masculinity and ‘might is right’ that Johnny has built himself up around. He thinks outside the box. And that makes him a freak and a twerp and an enemy. It makes him something dangerous to be crushed.

This choice between the open hand (‘open hand’ = karate, and in this metaphor; Miyagi’s karate, violence as a last resort) and the fist (‘the way of the fist’ = Kreese’s karate, violence as first response) is really a choice between Johnny’s plans to better himself, and his need to assert his dominance and win. And he chooses violence, (self) destruction, and essentially to lose everything (and for what? Pride? Kreese and the Cobras’ approval? Somehow winning Ali back by doing exactly what she doesn’t want him to do?)

In Cobra Kai Johnny’s a ‘I’m just giving it to you straight, this is how the real world works’ kind of guy, and one of his big character growth things is realizing that it doesn’t have to be that way, he has the power to make it different. Kreese’s Cobra Kai doesn’t have to be his Cobra Kai. He can let things go. He can fight for Robby (I mean, he doesn’t, but he could.) He can move forward and improve and even lose without it killing him. Karate Kid Johnny doesn’t have that awareness, he only has one view (Kreese’s view) and that is ‘if a man confronts you, you strike first, strike hard, no mercy, sir.” So that’s what he does. And he doesn’t think twice about it.

So when faced with this choice he chooses poorly, and he doesn't even see it as a choice in the first place. He takes less than a second to consider it. He fails at the first hurdle, and he doesn’t even realize it.

personal headcanon of mine with Johnny Lawrence(especially after reading your fic). I kinda see him as Demisexual Bi. Honestly with the movie and the cobra kai I think Johnny has sex because that was what he was taught from Kreese what being a man is suppose to be like and he never really let go of that habit. The only people he's ever been really sexually attracted to is Allie and Daniel. Because he has a deep emotional bonds with them. Even if they're not all 100% postive. Probably why the whole thing with Allie and Daniel in the karate kid so confusing. Would love to know what you think of my headcanon. But that's kinda how I see the whole mess.

Tumblr is not letting me answer this so I'm just testing something. I'll put it under the read more if it works.

I get that. I mean we don't really see Johnny moving on in the first film. There's no one on his arm except cobras and his focus seems to be Daniel. Arguably the only reason he kisses Ali is because he sees Daniel. So at that point I'd argue he kinda gave up on the trying to get her back as a girlfriend, and definitely lost any chance when he did that. Who knows what his life was like after the all-valley. Because, arguably, Cobra Kai is extended fanfiction. And there's all sorts of different scripts where Johnny was supposed to appear in the third movie, and maybe our views of who he was and everything would've changed. I mean in one version, I'm pretty sure he and Daniel became like friends much to Dutch's like fury, if I remember that old scripts summary correctly. And while I feel like I remember someone saying that they had girls around them, I don't remember anyone saying "Johnny dates __" in this script. (To be fair most of the conversation around it wasn't focused on that point.)

But when we see him in Cobra Kai and what he sort of talks about the only past love he's hung up on is Ali. He says he partied but I don't remember if he slept around or with how he sort of bolsters himself up whether that's truly believable. He got with Shannon when they both seemed to be a mess and he just became more of one after his mother died and I kinda doubt there was anyone he actually dated afterwards. In a serious way anyway.

He likes Carmen, the show tries to make that very clear, but sometimes I think they'd be better off as friends. Mostly because while I like Carmen I feel like she often gets sort of stuck in a "Johnny's girlfriend role". Which is a bummer in my opinion because I was honestly so excited when they hadn't put a label on it. Like how often does that happen? And I think she's a great influence on him because he listens and seems to respect her. But I don't like that she's like a reward to him and the creators (and who knows if it was pressure from Netflix and how they rushed that last season) wanted to tie up loose ends by what was convenient.

Sure a person can fall in love with their neighbor. Sure a person can fall in love with a single parent of their student. But it's just…too easy. Especially for a character whose last long term relationship exploded so badly and the only other person he's canonically loved is his high school sweetheart.

Which sometimes I wonder is just an extension of missing that before everything went to shit moment. Like how much of his "I only ever loved Ali" is "Damn high school was the only time I felt good about myself"?

And there's something about that though that throws me a little and that's the cobras. If the time he felt best about himself was high school, then what happened? Sure friends drift away, it happens, but I would like more clarification from the show whether or not that's actually happened. Because they kinda introduce their reunion at Tommy's side as the first time they've seen each other in a long time which is heart breaking. And I also call bull on it. Because, sure they were kids when Kreese tried to kill Johnny, but I can't believe the cobras wouldn't just drop by or check in on Johnny whenever they could. That they wouldn't have a relationship with Robby or try and steer him back onto dry land.

I think at the very least Johnny is so traumatized and depressed that he hasn't had romantic love, not really since Ali. And with Daniel I think Daniel is in a special place because he's like the one person from Johnny's past when things were good, or almost good before things went to shit, but also knows.

They both stubbornly (or at least the writers chose this) not to talk about all their past issues. Johnny and Kreese, Johnny vs Silver, Daniel and Silver. And I think to an extent, when they both calm down get each other. Understand. They've both lost important people. They both are grieving. They both had rough times. But Daniel had people to lean on and a good support system, whereas Johnny's seems to have cracked out from under him or he pushed his away.

Until he falls into Mr. Miyagi's footsteps. Until Miguel gets some life to spark again. And then because there's people listening to him and talking to him he's opening up and maybe realizing the shit he's gone through wasn't right. Because part of me thinks that Johnny's never like realized all of that was fucked up. Like on some level he knows but he probably also hasn't talked about a lot of it until he's had students and watches it all backfire that he realizes well shit, this isn't right. And I think those students of his are such a key development point for him.

And such a great starting point. Because who knows maybe Johnny doesn't know what bi means. Maybe he doesn't know it's an option because he's not online and he doesn't meet people really. His job after all was work alone in peoples houses, go home alone, go to the local convenience store for his beer and that's like it. He's super solitary. I doubt he even watches the news. He probably watches old movie channels or just those same vhs's over and over again and he's like a hermit almost whose unaware that life has passed him by and out of touch with all the fads because that requires effort and human interaction which he has like no energy for.

But those kids of his bring life to him. Bring people and language and new things into his world. For a cliche, color to his grayscale. So maybe he realizes all his action flicks and love for specific action heros and their abs for days might not be just a normal appreciation of the male physique but that if he stops to think about it attractions and one of those labels might fit. But I also kinda like the idea that he knows. And that it's just not anyone's business, or it hasn't come up. Or maybe he's just so used to an era where people didn't talk about it or didn't feel safe so it's a shock if he does bring it up because no one thought he was that self aware. Because he did party, he did dance, he modeled (arguably) once upon a time which if you're close enough to the arts I feel like back then you'd be somewhat aware.

I mean he may have tried it. Right time, right place. But it's not, love. Romantic love and what not. And his self worth seems to have not come back for decades until cobra kai again. So while I don't doubt he's got platonic and familial love all frayed like a worn blanket he's lugged around for decades, I don't think he had any good role models for love. I don't think he knows how to express it well. I think what he had with Shannon was a mess. But I don't doubt that he cares for Robby. That he loves Robby even if he's a sucky parent. I think he doesn't know how to be a parent. And Miguel gets to play safe test child because that's not Johnny's kid, it's his student and he's got a real parent to guide him through life and course correct and do all the hard stuff.

But I don't think he viewed Sid and Laura's relationship as like something to go for. I mean when Shannon tells him that Silver's been creeping around with his money in Robby's life, I think that's a case of something both Johnny and her had agreed on, which was that a relationship with a rich person was probably manipulative and required more hoops and clauses then they expected. And it's said in an offhand way but also in a way like they both know. And I kinda wonder if that was their starting point, their common ground. Both kids from messed up houses where the balance was off because their step parents was a rich asshole.

Daniel meanwhile has an outpouring of love role models to draw upon. His parents. Mr. Miyagi. I'm sure his extended family. And his own life. So he knows what love is. While I think Johnny doesn't have the best idea. So I think Johnny finds Daniel to be this interesting person who clearly knows what love is, who knows him, who knows arguably what happened to him, though I'm not sure if they ever actually talk about it, or just hint about it. Because we, the audience know Daniel saw Johnny choked, but we don't know if Johnny knows Daniel saw or if he just assumes Mr. Miyagi told him or if he assumes Daniel is talking about something else whenever he talks about Kreese.

And I think they both have all this history they didn't get a chance to talk about, partially because of that abrupt jump in the films. Opens on after the all valley and Johnny nearly dying and then huge mood change to Mr. Miyagi's after prom. But I like to think Johnny on a level respects Daniel but is still trying to figure it out. They both are. Daniel who has never seemed to have male friends in his life, and Johnny whose never really had an lot of love and who really has maybe had 3 partners canonically max. Ali, Shannon, and Carmen. And yet he spends more time thinking about Daniel then actually able to get together with Carmen. (To the point I will continue to cry foul on how on earth the baby happened but that's a different point and I blame Netflix rushing things on that)

So yeah I think Johnny probably says he's more of a sexual person then he actually is due to what he perceives he's supposed to be and a large part of that is probably Kreese. I think maybe he has had other partners but it's definitely not been long term and who knows if it's actually what he wanted or if he just felt like it was what he was supposed to do and I do think at the very least he's attracted to guys. And what he's actually attracted to I don't know what I officially would categorize him as, bi because of Ali, or gay and stuck in a closet because he didn't think he could be gay or if he refuses to do any self discovery because he dated Ali.

I don't doubt he loved Ali, but whether or not he felt pressured to have a relationship with her and her being the only woman he's ever really loved, well, like before I don't know if that's him truly loving her romantically and sexually or if it's missing his youth and rose tinted glasses. And I don't think he's been in love much and that he's still figuring it out. But I do think he is attracted to guys and is still figuring that out too. Which is fine because it can all be fluid and it can all change, and he just might not know or realize that or who knows he might. He might be like hmm as a teen I liked Ali so I was straight and now I kinda like Daniel so maybe I'm gay, or maybe I'm bi. Or he could be just like shoving it down into a box in his head and not dealing with it. All of which are fun to explore in fics. So I feel like it depends and yes. This is a long way to go about saying essentially yeah.🤣

Terry CK X Reader

Context: Your at home when you discover something about yourself, but then you hear Terry and John are fighting at the dojo, and have to stop them 💚

You were at home by yourself, and you were pacing around the bathroom nervously. You didnt know what would happen, weather your whole life was about to change or it was just a false alarm. You had been waiting for your phone timer to stop after 2 minutes...because that's when the pregnancy test will give you your result. You hadn't planned on getting pregnant, but you did want to be. You were engaged to Terry, and you loved him more than anything, being pregnant with Terry's baby would be the most amazing thing you could ever want. The timer goes off and you very quickly press the stop button, then you reach for the pregnancy test.

You sit on the side of the bath and the pregnancy test is faced away from you in your hands. Taking a breath, you slowly turn the test over....Positive. "Oh my god" Its positive, your pregnant, you were having Terry's baby! Tears of joy run down your face as the knowledge sets in, and you rest your hand against your belly. "I'm going to be a mum, I cant belive it" You enjoy this blissful moment, before you think about calling Terry to see where he is, then you can tell him the good news. But as you go to grab your phone, it starts ringing. "Hello?" "Sensei L/N?" "Tori? Are you alright?" "I'm fine yes but, its Sensei Silver and Kreese. I was walking by the dojo and I saw them fighting eachother, it looks like someone might get hurt"

"Oh my God! Thank you for telling me Tori, I'll be right there" You grab your things, including the pregnancy test and head out to your car and start driving to the dojo. A few minutes later your pulling up outside the dojo and run up to Tori. "Sensei L/N! Thank God your hear, they wont stop in there" "Its alright Tori, I'll take it from hear, I'll stop them. You head on home, ok?" "Ok sensei L/N" Tori heads down the road and you make your way into the dojo. You run into the back room where they are, and you see Terry and John covered in bruises, with Terry holding John in a headlock. "Terry stop!" Terry looks up and his eyes are filled with remorse. "Y/N?" He let's go of John and John falls to the ground rubbing his neck.

"Sweetheart! What are you doing hear, why-why are you-" "Tori called me. She said she could see you and John fighting and was worried one of you would go to far. And thank goodness she did, because clearly you both couldn't stop yourselves!" Terry takes a few steps towards you, looking very sad. "Sweetheart I'm so sorry you had to see this" "Why are you both fighting eachother?!" John gets up off the floor and dusts off his gi. "Terry forgot his place Y/N. He is working for me, and needs to understand who is in charge hear" Terry looks angrily at him. "We both own this place John! You have done nothing to earn my respect and all you do is demand it!"

"Alright! Alright enough! The pair of you!" You say as you stand inbetween them. "You both need to calm down, and while I'm hear, noone is going to be fighting eachother anymore" John just smirks at you. "Y/N, with all due respect, your not going to stop me from teaching Terry a lesson, even if I have to go through you" Terry looks furious, and stands right behind you, but you move your arm out, stopping him going for John. "You wont lay a hand on my fiance John, I womt allow anyone to hurt Y/N" John just chuckles at you both, and you take a step forward. "John, you need to leave, now. Go home and calm yourself down. And that threat isnt going to work on me. Your not going to go through me to get to Terry"

"Oh really? And why is that?" Taking Terry's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze, you give Terry a warm look, then turn back to face John. "Because you wouldnt attack a pregnant woman John" The room falls silent. John looks completely shocked, and when you turn to face Terry, he is crying tears of happiness. "Sweetheart? Your...your pregnant? I'm going to finaly be a dad?" "Yes Terry, we're having a baby, I even have the pregnancy test with me to show you, I wanted it to be a suprise" Terry smiles and pulls you in for a hug. "That is the best thing I could ever wish for. I love you sweetheart" "I love you too Terry. So please? Let's go home, no more fighting with John"

Terry looks at John, and even though he was feeling so much anger for him, that all melted away, because he was finaly going to be a family, he was finaly going to be a dad. He looks back at you, resting his hand against your stomach while looking deep into you eyes. "Let's go sweetheart" You and Terry are about to turn around and leave, when John shouts out "No! You cant just leave! Get back hear and fight me!" "No John...I dont care about anything you have to say anymore. The only thing I care about is my beautiful fiance....and my child. I'm not going to listen to your crap anymore" John looks angrily at Terry, then at you. "This is your fault! I dont care that your pregnant, your mine!"

John lunges at you, trying to swing right at your stomach, but Terry stands infront of you and uses his move, the silver bullet. He hits John right in the chest, and he falls to the ground with a loud thud. Clutching at his chest as he tries to catch his breath, Terry stands over him. "Your nothing to me now John. You tried to hurt Y/N and my baby! If I ever see you around either of us again, I'll end you" And with that, Terry takes you by the arm and you both leave the dojo, while John is left all in his own, in pain and struggling for breath.

Terry is the hardest one for me to pinpoint in a Hogwarts House. I keep going back and forth between Slytherin and Ravenclaw, but I tend to lean Ravenclaw. Then again, I see Slytherin and Ravenclaw as complimentary of each other, just as I see Gryffindor and Hufflepuff being complimentary of each other. So who knows?

I don't like Daniel in Slytherin, he's a Gryffindor soul to me; he's hot-headed, acts firsts and thinks later, brave to the point of recklessness (though it has toned down from his younger days), and he's not hardworking enough to be a Hufflepuff. Though he's very kind and sincere and affectionate.

Kreese as a bad!Gryffindor is brilliant and I love it; he's not a Slytherin, he just comes off as one. I also love Chozen as a good!Slytherin.

Johnny is 100% a Gryffindor, he is too highly reckless and brazen for a Hufflepuff. Also red-blooded--act first, think later, face the consequences following almost always. Robby reminds me of Chozen, so another good!Slytherin. Miguel I have no idea, but definitely not Ravenclaw. Amanda is another good!Slytherin for sure, cunning, clever, ambitious, and cut-throat. If she wasn't, I'd also put her in Ravenclaw for her usual clearheadness and rationality. (Then again, I also see her as being the female, softer version of Terry so...)

Even in the books they acknowledge that the Sorting is far from absolute nor should it be. It's less about somebody's absolute traits than where someone's head is at the moment of Sorting. Harry, in the first year, almost being sorted into Slytherin, and going to Gryffindor at his own request is a prime example. It's completely possible then that people indeed fit into more houses than the one that they're placed at. So is Terry a Ravenclaw if he wants to be? Maybe! He seemed to have left that ambition pretty much behind when he was with Cheyenne, instead spending most of his time on intellectual and artistic pursuits. And sure, sure, we can sort Johnny in Gryffindor I don't think he's half as reckless, naturally, as Daniel is. There are other Gryffindor traits he does not show, and are supposedly part of what Gryffindors are known for: standing up to authority, which he doesn't do even when his life hangs in the balance. He lets Kreese take Cobra Kai without so much as a fight! When Kreese is choking him he tries to, as is customary in sports, submit to him, while he has every reason to know that Kreese will not listen to that. His first instinct still stays to follow the rules of a fight, not break them. He doensn't stand up to his sensei, not without help, we see this time and time again. And chivalry? No. Johnny isn't chivalrous. He does not try to help Miguel when he meets him, he has no problem taking on Anoush, who he knows is weaker than him and in no position to fight back, at work! Now Kreese also does not have a chivalrous bone in his body, but I feel that this might be an overreaction to what he thought, in Vietnam, chivalry would get him. He has saved Terry many a time, we've known this since the third film. To me it really reads as if all Johnny's recklessness was a learned behaviour in Kreese's image. Learned very well, I grant, but it's not consistent. It feels to me like this is something he has learnt he has to do to deal with problems, but not something he does if he gets to call the shots completely. Like no Gryffindor would let Daniel take on a whole hockey team by himself. That's not what they do.

Maybe I'm wrong and the whole chivalry angle is simply propaganda, but Johnny does not jump into action when the going gets hot outside of his control. Yeah, him going to Terry without any second thought on what he's dealing with, very Gryffindor. But that he has sought and thinks he can control. But when things get really, primally dangerous, he always bails. Can't care for Robby? Exits. Can't be there for Miguel? Exits. Sensei wants him to hurt Daniel? "Yes, sensei." Kreese steals his dojo? He runs. Daniel needs his help beating someone up? "Cool off, man."

So, I don't know, he might have fit in Gryffindor, too, but at his core I see a boy who is extremely loyal, kind of risk averse, (definitely emotionally) a hard worker, who likes his comforts - he's never happier than having a drink and some pizza together - and who needs someone to follow.

Now they say Hufflepuffs and Slytherins get on very well, which you can see in Johnny being Amanda's bestie! When Amanda says, "Johnny, let the grownups do the talking", he sits back without a single moment's protest. And he gets on very well with Chozen too! It's far easier for him being friends with them than with Daniel.

But who knows, maybe being around Gryffindors would have made him a little more chivalrous, and then he would have fit that house. Still, he stays back quite easily, while Daniel can't stop himself Getting Into Situations. The second he can, still beat from two days before, he needles all the Cobras. Johnny didn't start that. Instead of just leaving him be, he exposes Chozen's trickery. He almost kills himself trying out a new karate move. Terry reappears and he's like a pissed off chihuahua, the first time he sees Mike Barnes after about 40 years he's like "Hey! And another thing!" as if they'd been fighting seconds ago.

I just love my Hufflepuff!Johnny trying to mimic a Gryffindor too much to let him go, Nonnie 😍

thots on omegaverse? 👀 also: when and how did you get into CK/KK? whose your favourite character? ships?

I used to be really big into Omegaverse when I was younger and then I kind of just lost interest. Funnily enough the most recent omegaverse fic I’ve read (as well as the only one I’ve read in years) was a LaKreese one. Which I have reread quite a bit.

How did I get into Karate Kid? So…Funny story…I watched KK1 when I was maybe 10? I liked it a normal amount at the time, but the only character I cared about was Johnny, somehow.

Then for my 12th (13th?) birthday I made my whole family sit down and watch KK1 with me. The second rewatch made me like Daniel along with Johnny instead of just Johnny. But I still cared more about Johnny.

Then skip to my Senior year’s spring break. I saw stuff about Cobra Kai in my feed and was like “Yo, this show’s about Johnny! That’s definitely for me!” But my mother, who has seen it, told me that it references all three movies. And I’m like shit, there are sequels? Anyways so I’m like well I have to watch the sequels in order to watch Cobra Kai. So I sit down and force my mom to watch the sequels with me because she hadn’t seen them either.

KK2 is fine. Admittedly I skipped a bit of it because I thought it was boring lol. Err…even though at this era I didn’t like Kreese (yet), the most notable thing about KK2 for me was that Kreese looked hot in the only scene he was in and I think about it a lot. The practically cropped jacket is nice. I don’t want to talk about it anymore

KK3 is weird. Who is this guy and why does he look like the main guy from Kickin’ It with a ponytail. (Which I decided before seeing Silver’s face. My mistake. He looks absolutely nothing like him in the long run.) This movie is OK, this movie is OK, Yo…Daniel is kind of (literally me). This is the moment I realized how much I related to Daniel. Then he became my favorite. By this point I didn’t care about Johnny anymore. It kind of dissipated.

As embarrassing as it is, I didn’t actually like KK3 until a very specific scene. And this scene is also what spurred my Silverusso interest. It’s the scene where he’s stretching Daniel’s leg on the floor. Sometimes I wonder how it ever passed censorship 🤷

After that I rewatched KK3 on loop for like a week and then I listened to Silver’s theme on loop and made my ex-boyfriend watch the movie with me and yada yada yada here I am.

Favorite characters? Easy. Daniel, Silver, Kreese, Chozen, Mike, Kumiko, Jessica. Daniel’s my ride or die forever.

CK favorite characters include all of the above along with Miguel, Tory, Hawk, Devon, Kenny, Kyler, Louie, Vanessa, Anoush, and Sensei Kim. Big Sensei Kim fan.

Favorite ships is easy because I ship Daniel with everyone. Like, everyone. If you ask me about Daniel/A character that exists in canon I’ll probably tell you that I ship it. Other than Daniel ships I’m a big fan of Sam/Tory, Hawk/Demetri, Hawk/Robby, and a low-key fan of Kreese/Silver. Carmen/Amanda and Anoush/Amanda also make me happy for some reason.
