Stand vorhin wie ein triefend nasser Oliver-Twist-Verschnitt am Bahnsteig, nachdem ich meinte bei diesem Wetter bei dem irgendwo Noah die Arche schon wieder aus der Garage holt mit dem Fahrrad zwanzig Minuten fröhlich zum Bahnhof radeln zu müssen. Kam mir vor wie in einer Tiefpunkt-Szene aus Die Wilden Kerle wenn sie gerade wieder gegen irgendwelche Waldvampire verloren haben und traurig ihre Mountainbikes durch den Regen schieben. Mir ging's super.

Habe mir dann drei Stunden Regionalbahn zugemutet, bin am Zielbahnhof angekommen und war immer noch nicht trocken. Meine ganze Hoffnung lag dann in den zwei zuckerfreien Red Bulls, um mich noch irgendwie durch den Tag zu kriegen. 500ml Energy Drink wegzukippen als wäre ich ein Halbstarker auf Klassenfahrt half dann aber auch nicht- ich fing stattdessen an zu zittern als würde ich gerade bei acht Gead Außentemperatur an Unterkühlung verrecken. Ich weiß noch nicht mal ob's an der gezielten Überdosis Koffein lag, oder daran dass mein Parka bis auf den scheiss Weihnachtspulli darunter durchnässt war. Tauchte bei meinem Termin auf, zitternd wie Espenlaub, sah wahrscheinlich wirklich weniger kompetent aus und mehr nach Waisenkind mit Tuberkulose. Ich kapitulierte dann nach meinem Termin, fuhr nicht noch am gleichen Tag zurück und suchte mir stattdessen jemanden in der Nähe bei dem ich für die Nacht crashen konnte.

im going to berlin on thursday to see the welcome to nightvale live show and I just found out that our universally beloved and admirably reliable public transit system has once again decided to go on a nationwide strike on THAT EXACT FUCKING DAY and I had to find out via some fucking pseudo destiel meme on tumblr of all places 🤡

Deutsche Bahn? More like Desaster Bahn.

Sypnosis: Kaiser wanted to visit his family on the other side of Germany. But Deutsche Bahn can't be trusted. And even out of the train, everything goes wrong.

(A/N: this is all my own experience with tiny bits changed or censored. But this is supposed to be taken in a funny way so!! Feel free to laugh about it just as I do whenever I tell the story because it's fucking ridiculous. Let's just have fun about Kaiser suffering)

"This can't be fucking true." Kaiser mumbled under his breath as he left the train, looking around the central station he just arrived at.

The train ride was supposed to last for 4 more hours, but due to snow, the ICE train he was in until a few minutes ago couldn't continue anymore.

Actually, an hour earlier the train already was stuck for almost an hour at another central station, but continued with an announcement that said Kaiser's destination would be the last station his train could get to. It was a relief for the time being, but that got crushed a few minutes ago.

And now, Kaiser was stuck in the middle of Germany, at a central station he's never been to, in a city he's never been in. Not knowing what to do, he called Ness.

"Oh, hi Michael." Ness said when he picked up. "How is the traveling going?"

"Horrible." Kaiser's voice was filled with a mix of anger and frustration. "I'm stuck in fucking [city] because the ICE can't continue. I'm too far away from home to go back. But no idea how to get farther."

"Give me a minute." Ness said, he was already typing the Deutsche Bahn website into his browser. "There is a way for you to get to [destination], but instead of by ICE you'd have to go by the RE and S-trains."

Kaiser was walking around the station, not knowing where he was even going to. He just walked around so he wouldn't stand still in the same place.

"RE and S-trains? That's gonna take forever." Kaiser let out a frustrated sigh. "Whatever. I've travelled too far to go home now. Can you text me where I need to go?"

"Sure." Ness responded and sent the details to Kaiser.

"No fucking way. I'll be at [destination] at 11pm? That's five hours later than originally."

Oh, if Kaiser would have known this will only get worse, he would have travelled back home.

"Good luck." Ness said into his phone. "Get there safely."

"Thanks." Kaiser responded coldly and ended the phone call.

As he walked to the correct platform, he called one of the family members he was going to visit to tell them the entire disaster happening. And luckily, they told him he wouldn't have to get to [destination], they could pick him up in another city Kaiser would pass with his current route anyways. This meant he would have to travel less by RE and S-trains and didn't risk anything going wrong there.

Well, he didn't get to risk it anyways. His last train didn't come. And it was the last train of the night.

His first two did come. He only had to get the last one. But even after waiting and waiting, nothing. To make it even worse, the prior train had so much delay, it was now after 11pm.

To make worse things even worse, because of the cold temperatures, his phone's battery stopped working and he had no way of contacting his family or Ness.

"I'd rather die than continue this goddamned journey." Kaiser said to himself as he walked into the station's building. He was ready to complain at the information desk, but the long line of people standing there prevented him from it.

By this point, Kaiser had met two more people who needed to get to the same station as him, and after some discussion about what to do next, they decided to get a taxi. Because of the long distance, it would be expensive, but because they were three people they could split the payment.

But this also meant, he would be stuck in a car with two strangers and the taxi driver for at least another hour. Well, that's how long the ride should have taken if they wouldn't have been stuck on the highway for hours.

At least Kaiser's phone warmed up a bit and he was able to text his family and Ness what was going on. After that, the exhaustion made him fall asleep.

When Kaiser woke up, the car was stuck in the very same place as when he fell asleep. It made him think he slept for only a few minutes, but a look at the time told him it was 3 am.

3 am.

3 fucking am. And the traffic still hasn't moved a single bit.

The taxi driver ended up calling the police multiple times. And it turned out, a lot of truck drivers fell asleep during the bad traffic when they were waiting to continue driving, which made the traffic get stuck for so many hours.

And at the ungodly hour of 4.30 am, traffic finally started moving again and at 6 am, Kaiser arrived in [city], where his family members waited all night for him.

The moment Kaiser got into their car, he started complaining about the entire disaster. He was tired, exhausted, and done with everything.

Gig report! Compiled this morning in the car to Antwerp with help form @zadig-fate and @yoda-bor 💛 I recorded everything except Katrina (bc my camera app crashed in the middle), so I'll upload this once I'm at a place with stable wifi again :D

all my buses were delayed so I power walked to the train station. Then that train was delayed so I almost missed my Eurostar. Then my Eurostar was also delayed. "That's what I call a Deutsche Bahn special, actually." – Kris ("when your first train is late but then it's okay because the second train is also delayed")

so many people I knew in the queue. From Helsinki. From London last year. From Utrecht. 😊💛

when I grabbed my number, Jan and Nace returned to the venue (and they were so pretty in daylight and in person)

their postures??? Nace has definitely worked on his posture, meanwhile Jan appears so slim and small. It's wild.

Jan and Jure returned to the venue together, looking… Pissed is too harsh a word, but frowning? So we first kinda thought they were actually pissed off. But then Nace showed up a minute later, his usual sunny self, and was immediately accosted by fans. So. I assume it was less "pissed off" and more "do not approach" (and it worked)

soundcheck was Gola and Vem da greš, which we could hear every time they opened the doors (this was my last general access gig. It's EA from here on out, baby!)

Kris and I had decided to go on the balcony and got spots right next to the sound booth, where we were joined by @thisismyobsessionnow 🫶

it was warm but the sound was really good (duh)

also we had nice cushy seats like the old people we are 😂

first opener was a duo of brothers made up of discount Jure and Käärijä if he was French. Discount!Jure had a nice chest (Jure at home)

speaking of EA, there were allegedly 60 EA tickets though I saw numbers up to 62 (500 people venue)

JC Stewart was fun

he was told he looked French prime minister. He got confused by president vs prime minister but he also got kinda flustered. He was shown a pic and was "oh yeah, I see it"

we got Katrina opener

the venue was super hot so I tried to appreciate the fit while he had it on in full – white buttoned shirt with a sweater vest over it and a proper tie and glasses, going for the full teacher look except hot???

I still spent a good chunk of the gig looking at Jure though. The elevated balcony spot gave ussuch a nice view of him

Bojan was smiley and sounded way less congested than in Utrecht (maybe he's on the mend?)

Kris on the other hand was sipping tea on stage. In particular very sassily during Demoni

Kris had guitar problems at the beginning of Šta bih ja and went to Kiki to get it fixed but Bojan didn't see and so was actually worried for a moment that Kris had gotten sick off-stage. Kris was adorable in reassuring him that he was fine

the most hilarious to me moment: Bojan did his spiel about "who here experiences panic attacks?" And the crowd cheered, and he was like "yay! Panic attacks! It's me!" And Kris next to me went "I'm the problem, it's me," and literally on the last syllable, Bojan started saying the exact same thing. One brain cell. Or maybe he has the stream on his in-ears

ensthirs originate in desert regions of their planet, and over thousands of years have cultivated a wide selection of foods and treats that are both easily available in their environment, and are a delight to consume.

Bahn juice

Bahn is a common fruit, it's large, watery and appetizing but protected by their thick shell, something like a combination of a coconut and watermelon. The flesh inside lines the shell in sections, and the hollow cavity in the middle is filled with a cold, sweet juice, which can be mixed with many other ingredients but can be served fresh and is often drank straight from the shell. It appears clear and green when still, but gains a thick white froth when shaken. The taste is comparable to earth sugar cane juice.

Bahn meat (in kebab form, for this presentation)

Despite all appearances, and the name, this meat is not from an animal but from the aforementioned bahn fruit. The sections of this fruit are eaten in many ways, but it's still delectable plain and fresh. The texture and flavour is closest to mangosteens - very soft, very juicy, and very sweet in its own unique way. It's a flavour you wouldn't want to forget.

Ce Bread

Ce (chee) is a hardy grain, purple in colour, that withstand any environmental challenge thrown at it and can proliferate throughout both wet and dry seasons. Plain ce lacks a distict strong flavour, meaning it pairs well with other foods, placing it as a staple in most diets. It is the ensthirs equivalent of rice or wheat. Ground dry ce can be mixed with liquids and then baked, like this bread, but it can be cooked in many other ways which drastically change its composition and flavour.

Ce cookies

Another use of ce, these cookies are a common tradition that mean more than just a sweet treat. Ce cookies must be crafted together by family members, often between parent and child or siblings, it is a way to strengthen bonds. This can be to show forgiveness, express love and loyalty, or simply be a fun experience before dinner. Before being baked, a pattern, symbol or shape is carved into the top, such as these sun designs which are believed to bring good luck. Ce cookies are a popular choice of offering at religious events, or simply as a gift for new neighbours.

Sticky ce bun

Slightly sweeter than che cookies, ce buns are an extra special treat, but are not generally reserved for any noteworthy occassions. Ce buns are made with very few ingredients: ce flour and water are used for the bun itself, and the stuffing is ce that has been boiled then cut up and mixed with a liquid similar to syrup or honey. When boiled, ce expands three times its original size and becomes soft and chewy, a consistency and texture similar to tapioca pearls used for boba. As a final step, the filled bun is wrapped in bahn leaves and steamed, which gives it the sticky affect and enhances the flavour.

Ensthir soups can be made of just about anything, the range is incredible, but this one seems to have a broth of some bright purple plant, with an addition of various roots and tubers to finish it off. The serving dish of choice is a clay pot decorated with easily accessible paints and dyes, making a simple dot and sun pattern.

Lizard tail

Obviously not from an actual lizard, but close enough. Like most animals that share a planet with ensthirs, this creature used their tail as an extra fat storage, making it a better alternative to eating more meat and getting the same amount of fat. This tail has been cooked, but this is usually only for longetivity as ensthirs still possess the necessary enzymes for properly digesting raw meat (without contracting some mysterious disease.. most of the time).

Jerky

A common meal staple in the dry season when food is less readily available, slices of meat are salted and dried then put into storage until they are needed. Meat jerky is not widely disliked, but it is also not loved by many and doesn't have an important role in ensthir culture other than survival.

Dried berries

The vegan alternative to meat jerky, berries are also dried and stored until dry season but are used as more of a snack or side serving than the main course. Certain berries may turn out to be sweet or sour when aged, or perhaps earthy or downright bad, so an ensthir must choose their tiny fruits carefully when foraging. Families pass down knowledge of what the tastiest berries look like, and young ensthirs will make a challenge to find the best ones first when wet season comes to a close and stores must be stocked up.

THANK U TO EVERYONE WHO SENT ME WELL WISHES AND NICE WORDS TELLING ME TO ENJOY MY TRIP IM HAVING A GREAT TIME AGGGHHHH 😁😁😁😁😁 i’ve gotten to see, do, and eat so many cool things i’m having a really good time. i have a love of metro train/subway systems that extends from my love of airplanes (just a mass transit thing in general i suppose?) so unironically riding the munich u-bahn has been one of the highlights of my trip i love it 😭

berlin is still my favorite german city but getting to experience munich has been so awesome!!!!!!! we also took the long-distance train to prague in czechia for 2 days and the ppl there were so so sweet and everything was so cool. it’s always a really cool/fun moment for me as an american when a tour guide says like “this part of the chapel was built in the 14th century!” like dang my country didn’t even exist then… very very awesome to see. i love old thing
