ep 13:
listen, i think wayne winning is fine. do i love himbos? yes. was i rooting for him in the finale? yes. in the grand scheme of things, do i think he is a good finalist? no. we can all agree that hes very much an owen, and i dont mind that!! i actually think having a fan favorite, comic relief, underdog third party winning makes sense in this season, because i dont think caleb or julia winning would be a satisfying end (especially how they were handling them by the end)
caleb's story was messy, and at the end of the day (and i know that the intentions changed), he did start his alliance with priya to use her. him winning, after all of the drama, after priya was gone, wouldve just idk felt shitty. he did get the girl in the end, which concludes his story better than him winning it. (if im comparing this to the tdi 2007 final three,, i guess hes the gwen)
as for julia, she had two seasons to be villain, and it was amazing. she is so good at what she does and she is such a joy to watch. and we all know how total drama handles its villains, they need to get their comeuppance. did bowie double cross her last season? yes. and she came back still was the main villain and was AMAZING at it. but she was still the villain for another 13 episodes, AND HER GETTING PRIYA OUT LAST EPISODE, she cant win. was her just desserts satisfying? meh. nice callback to heather (we all know julia is the heather of this comparison), though i can understand people who dont like this callback and think its tiring or something. they couldve done something else, but im not mad (i kinda fuck with the mullet). i just see no satisfying way for julia to win with how she was presented in these seasons: she was not world tour heather, with three full length seasons and a greater threat to overcome; she was island heather, and therefore could not win.
overall thoughts of the season:
im someone that thinks the hockey bros jokes nearly always land, so i enjoy the shit out of them (i think im in the majority?)
im someone that did not like priyaleb at first, grew to being more neutral about it, but still found it to be a bit tiring. i like priya, i like caleb, i dont like tiring romantic subplots, and it sucks that that was the entire thing for these characters this season
the julia mk duo was AMAZING, one of the highlights of this season and one that i never wouldve expected to be real. mkulia wins in my heart and i hope they start their podcast (JULIA WAS GOIGN TO USE THE MONEY TO START THE PODCAST WITH MK HOLY SHIT GIRL IS IN LOVE)
it sucks that certain characters really got nothing this season (millie, nichelle, emma, and even axel to an extent).. but i get that characters like millie and emma already had a lot of screentime last time and someone has to be an early boot (just realize the ones i listed off were all women,, damn the writers fr just hate women)
at the end of the day, i really enjoyed this season. and i think the most important part of that enjoyment was this was the first time i got to watch a season and have no idea what was going to unfold. i watched the first four season of total drama when they were airing, but i was a little kid with poor comprehension skills. the first three seasons aired before i knew how to read (i learned to read late). and with tdpi, rr, and tdi 2023, i watched them after the fact and knew who the winners were going in. this was the first season i watched were i truly did not know the winner, and that added to my enjoyment. not to mention this being the one and only time i was present in an online space to talk about show as the episodes dropped. this season was a bit messy here and there, but it delivered some great stuff. i found myself laughing out loud and just having a good time, which is all i need out of my silly little cartoon

Under the cut because somehow this is an unpopular opinion ?! but I fucking hated 99% of the season finale
I cant even call it the wedding episode anymore because out of 2 hours, the wedding was what, 10 minutes?
I get that its a drama show and all they seem to know how to do is angst but after 4 years, the constant talk about representation and the important of this love story, we deserved 2 straight hours of pure QUEER JOY
We deserved them being excited in the build up. Last minute planning. Them talking about their future. Moments with their family the day of. To meet Carlos's sisters properly. Emotion and tears but all because of JOY.
The fact that the first hour had maybe 30 seconds of non-verbal tarlos interaction is total bullshit. Then the next hour had Carlos more miserable then we've ever seen him, not to mention unhinged, murderous and understandably a shitty partner. They shouldve used this time to let them be happy and show all the great things about the characters and their relationship. Not to drop some needless tragedy in and show us the worst of them and a new version of a loved character. It was ridiculous bullshit imo.
Yes the wedding was beautiful. I cried at the nod to Gwen. Im glad Carlos was happy (even tho it makes him seen just a lil psychotic days after his Dad died?!). Im glad we saw 10 seconds of their honeymoon. But that was it?? Maybe max 20 minutes out of 2 hours.
We deserved celebration and joy - we the fandom and the characters. I hated all the decisions the writers made. If they wanted tension, they couldve had so many small things go wrong, they couldve focused on the uncles death, Wyatt, on Gwyn, maybe Gabriel hurt but not fucking murdering him. It was just needless and it took away from everything theyve been building to the whole show but especially this season.
Im disappointed, hated it and we deserved more. Thank fuck for fanfic.

danny phantom season 2, ep 12-16 thoughts! these episodes, in comparison to the first 10 or so, felt way more laid back and low-stakes, which I appreciate sometimes. I didn't appreciate how lazy jack's halfa design was in masters of time, it made me so annoyed I redesigned it. 👎🏻 u_u

-I knew danny wanted to be an astronaut, but the bowling tidbit is like. yes give me more useless info abt these characters, I love tiny details that make them feel more human, and im glad hes got hobbies aside from ghost stuff, we dont really see a lot of that!!! (I mean, we knew 'fun' danny from when he split himself in half liked bowling, so obv it makes sense he LIKES it, but hes very GOOD at it. so proud of him, bowling king) val calling him neil armstrong and them teasing each other. LOVE THAT.
-technus you are my favorite grandpa for setting this up. SAM WHY ARE YOU BEING SO CREEPY BE HAPPY FOR YOUR FRIEND!!! STOP SPYING ON THEM!!! who actually cares if technus did 'set them up' together, theyre having fun and enjoy each others company!!! 'you think the universe wants you two to be together?' 'i dunno, but maybe /I/ do!' EXACTLY DANNY!!! SOO TRUE.
-and valerie being happy sam said she wants to try and be happy for them and make room at the lunch table for them. and hugging sam over it. VAL NEEDS MORE FRIENDS.

-sam with the fake fangs. once again her accessories never miss. hate the 'not like other girls, girls who get sucked into this kind of thing are all shallow and all want to be carbon copies' bs tho.
-sam trying to be the Worst Bride, being rude as shit. DORA IS GOING TO GET KILLED. DID YOU MISS THE PART WHERE SHE SAID THE PRINCE WILL HAVE HER HEAD IF YOU ARENT THE IDEAL BRIDE. YOU /KNOW/ DANNY WILL COME SAVE YOU. JUST ACT CHILL UNTIL THEN. even if you were doing fine to get him to take off the crown, consider maybe not letting his poor sister get punished also?? sure, she could also take off the crown and has dragon powers, but did you know that for sure?? dora didnt even really realize it until you guys talked!! -oh, wait, his ecto-acne has flareups? that SUCKS. danny was...well I dont want to say he was LUCKY HE HALF-DIED, but he was lucky his was pretty instant (I'm assuming that had to do with the power/scale of the portals being different?) I remember in the ep we met him, vlad made a point of saying he was stuck in a hospital for a long time, so. that really actually sucks and I feel bad. not that it excuses anything he's done...but like. it does suck.
-vlad being so sure danny wouldnt help him he made it somehow contagious to his friends to make sure he'd get help? danny is a nice boy, he wouldve helped if it was anyone else. the only reason he wouldn't have is because of the shit vlad did to him, on purpose. vlad 100% dug his own grave by being the biggest asshole, so it is very hard to feel bad for him.
-clockwork is back!!! and making danny learn lessons The Hard Way. Uhhh, okay. I kind of get Danny’s logic, that time traveling this far back would prevent vlad from becoming a halfa also, ergo no arch nemesis or ectoacne to worry about. But the fact that was basically the first solution Danny came up with to solve this problem is actually so funny. It’s so extreme

-vlad telling maddie in the lab (in the 80s) he has something he's wanted to tell her 'for a long time'...how long have they known each other? I assumed they met in college, since jack always calls vlad his college buddy/roommate, so jack and vlad for sure met in college, but did vlad know maddie longer? thats surprising if so. Tho we don’t know what year of college they’re in so they could mean they met as freshmen and a few years have past…speaking of maddie shes crushing the 80s look.
-vlad blames jack, but. maybe dont stick your face 2 inches from the portal??! THIS FEELS LIKE LAB SAFETY BASICS. IF SOMETHING HAS POTENTIAL TO BE DANGEROUS, DONT GET NEAR IT. WITH YOUR FACE UNPROTECTED IN ANY WAY. (altho jack didnt really give a Big Warning besides screaming BONZAI. so. also that, but cmon.) also, they need gloves, goggles, and to pull all of their hair back tbh. but fuck lab safety, I guess!
-cryyyyinnng at how lazy they were with jack's ghost form design, its just plasmius' design on jack!!! you couldve given him his own design!!

I did that in about 10 minutes and its somehow less lazy than what made it into the show. embarrassing! better yet, I think the episode would've been better if maddie would've gotten the ectoacne. or maybe its just me, wanting to see her design! anyway. I'm sure people have already done redesigns of them both as halfas. I have to go look after I finish this watch through. Also mildly frustrated jacks resentment and bitterness is basically also a copy paste of vlads backstory. They’re different characters, I really don’t think jack would stew in bitterness and jealousy the same way vlad would!! I also don’t think he’d give up after one time of trying to hunt ghosts and getting laughed at. Our canon timeline says different…I dunno, I get it was for laughs, but I’m annoyed because the POTENTIAL this plot has…
-did vlad really wear a stupid cheese hat to his wedding. ok actually that kinda rules. and the cheese door knocker. the dairy-only buffet table. vlad still got rich, just on being the New Dairy King. (Assuming that means he owns a lot of dairy businesses?) ok! this actually is great. hope maddie isn't lactose intolerant!
-'no matter how hard I tried, I could never get rid of my ghost half, the half I knew Maddie could never accept' ohh, ouch, what a horrible thing to say to her HALF GHOST SON. 'YOUR MOM WILL NEVER ACCEPT YOU' BASICALLY.
-maddie strapping danny to the table with a lazer pointed at him in a secret lab she keeps from vlad that she makes a point of saying is sound proof so he can scream all he wants...CHRIST. DANNYS POOR PYSCHE.
-also, not to feel bad for alternate vlad (because, he did lie to maddie saying jack blames her and never wants to see her again...) but. being married to a woman 20+ years and she immediately goes back to jack? if she didnt love vlad and feels like she had to hide shit from him, and says she wasted her best years with him, WHY MARRY HIM. it feels like leading him on!!! cannot believe im feeling bad for vlad, but. this alternate timeline vlad is significantly Less Horrible than Our Vlad. did she not think she'd get funding for her ghost stuff? (which, fair assumption since they're considered 'ghost fanatics/nuts in canon...but...) why did she think jack or vlad would be her ONLY OPTIONS? be like your sister. be single. Actually, this au could’ve been really interesting if after the accident, vlad lied to her and said jack never wanted to see her again, but she stays single. Imagine how much that would bug vlad… like, in her mind, it was never a competition it was jack or no one type situation…
-danny being like 'leave him ALONE' this jack is a HOMEWRECKER, DANNY. let them go to court and settle this at the least. ...or just throw vlad into the portal. (100% human, defenseless vlad) CHRIST, MADDIE THATS BRUTAL. THATS MURDER.
-danny seeing his mom immediately accepting him and his dad being half ghosts in this universe, if I was him this would be a great sign that his universe's maddie would also.
-*maddie voice* "clockwork will help!" *2 seconds later, with clockwork* "I will Not Help." TOUGH LOVE KING. YES LET DANNY SEE THE SODA HIMSELF AND DEVOLP BETTER OBSERVATION SKILLS.
-when clockwork ""reset time to the way it was"" just before danny "meddled"" ...did he really erase a whole alternate timeline? ...damn. because maddie and danny both called it an alternate timeline by name, it splitting when the college incident went different, so it wouldnt have really mattered if he reset it, right. like because danny's timeline is on a different stream? why didnt clockwork just. show danny a replay and not Reset That Timeline. wh...I wonder how many people that Erased From Existence. Anyway! once again stating clockwork is casually terrifying!

there are LOTS of characters i feel dont get enough attention so im just gonna list a few ghfdgh:
- edain (shes so nice and shes the turbomom and she gets NO attention in return)
- oifey (hes so good im sorry hes not as sexy as shannan)
- igrene (im fake and havent played fe6 but shes got such a good sad story and ppl only seem to care abt her for Boob and its sad)
- tauroneo (lowkey incredibly interesting. what if duessel was a pathetic divorced piece of shit dad)
- muarim (THE FANDOM SLEEPS ON HIM SO HARD. I ADORE THIS MAN LIKE LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM. his battle convos in por where hes actually fucking horrified abt mist and rolf being deployed. get em)
- rhys ([137594765 pages of in-depth character analysis] hes gay and sad lol)
- rolf (When I Write My Rolf Essay. Then You Will See)
- laurent (this goes for all the awakening kids but i like seeing how their traits + differences from their parents are related to the situation theyve been growing up in and i think laurents more concerned responsible approach to the Miriel Stuff rlly reflects that. also desert angst has had me fucked up since middle school and i think he deserves more attention).

14) Something you really don't like about this series?
pretty consistently piss-poor treatment of major female characters as like... setpieces for manpain is. pretty bad tbh. like?? characters like deirdre and ninian and emmeryn and rinea and celica (in sov especially) deserve SO much more autonomy and attention outside of how sad some blue haired guy was abt them dying. obv some are better than others but ive rlly got my fingers crossed for fe4 remake that gives deirdre more,,,, just More. she needs development. ALSO [SHAKES KUSAKIHARA] MAKE YOUR FEMALE COSTUME DESIGNS NOT GROSS CHALLENGE. NOBODY SHOULD RIDE A HORSE WITH THEIR ASS HANGING OUT
20) Least favorite (canon) pairing?
WOW okay there are..... definitely a lot of ships i Do not like. i think a lot of the possible ships in some games are just plain BAD like. nobody should be dating nowi or donnel or dew or anyone who is very clearly like. a kid? ADDITIONALLY student x faculty member in 3h will always feel Bad to me. but in terms of like.... ones that are canon/pseudo-canon?? a lot of them are kinda boring + not my fav, like chrom/sumia or alm/celica or lewyn/erinys but like. the only game that has outright Rancid canonesque ships is rd imo. micaiah/sothe and jill/haar are actually viscerally awful. boyd/mist is Not that bad but it still feels,,, iffy. i did actually make a tellius ship tiermaker so if anyones curious i can do it and post it???

ik lots of ppl feel this way but the intensification of focus on the avatar characters in fe games is such a HUGE detriment to depth of story and character development. theres such a need to please and appease the player via the avatars interactions and influence over other characters and it feels so cheap and unrealistic. why would u being a good teacher make ashe want to stay loyal to the institution that killed his brother and dad, for instance?? it wouldnt but itd be inconvenient if for the player if he decided to switch sides. remember in por when shinon and gatrie left bc they decided they just Did Not Fucking Like the thought of working under ike. that was good. that was great. the goal of character writing is to make characters feel like people with motivations and ideals and the way fe games are more and more revolving around You is taking away from it imo

Della Duck - Ducktales Also. i couldve just put them in one together bc theyre same media but they deserve their own spots. i really adore how much life was breathed into this character whos just really never been given a spotlight before. i love how realistic everything about her is. adventure mom. 10/10 would let raise me
Meg - Hades. ill be honest i have not beat the game yet i have no idea how long it is till im done but meg.... oh meg. not only is she hot but wow shes got a lot going on huh? i really cant wait to learn more abt her and her history with zag... peel back her layers like an onion. thats not a euphemism i mean like in a finding out her issues way
Tome Kurata - Mob Psycho 100. i know everyones like “haha lol aliens girl” BUT BRO.. ALIENS GIRL!! not a lot of girls in media get to just kind of be. weird as all shit the same way male characters do. tomes just funny and weird and a gamer. shes just a good time to see onscreen
Sasha James - The Magnus Archives. AUAAUGHHH SASHA MY BELOVED. i get so fucking emo thinking about her. like she was just... a smart friendly charming lady, optimistic despite everything, struck by tragedy... even from a narrative standpoint the not sasha stuff is such a turning point in the series imo it just makes me so insane
Susie - Deltarune. what can i say i guess i love angry purple women who dislike the protagonist at first. the susie v lancer scene made me CRYYYY im so attached to her and her character arc. give susie friend.

Favorite character: blaze the cat!! her story and personality resonate with me, her intro game is my favorite sonic game, her overall design goes hard, really the only thing to complain about is that sonic team has no idea how to use her
Second favorite character: silver the hedgehog… i love psychics. i love time travel plots. connect the dots. his comic personality is so good though, he’s optimistic and wants whats best for the world even though he grew up in such hard times and just wants everyone to live their best lives… and he’s also a goof. i love that! i want more time travel characters like that where they’re naive and fun loving and just want whats best!
Least favorite character: black doom. hes just boring and purely why i dont know anything about shadow the hedgehog (game) everything about him and the black arms just gives me a headache and tbh i just try to pretend hes not there in my hcs. idc about him. another ig is mephiles bc he couldve been a really cool villain and had an interesting motive for a sonic game but hes another headache and doesnt make sense. i want to look up rewrites for him but knowing the fandom’s track record of poorly written angst porn i know it wont be worth it

Least favorite pairing: i usually dont count unhealthy ones at all when talking abt pairings but god i need to say if you ship silv.aze im coming for you. but uhhh really any of them that are lifeless and never interact, or never interact healthily, and are clearly made bc god people need to be hetero or they will die, like whis.padow for example.
Favorite moment: that scene in rush where blaze has defeated her final boss and is just desperately rumaging around in the wreckage trying to find cream, and cream just flies into her arms… its so precious i adore their relationship in that game and i wish it was more touched upon than them trying and failing to make silver and blaze’s friendship work
Rating out of 10: 7, bc canon content usually kinda sucks but thats ok bc i love the characters

Hello and welcome everyone to Comic Tea Party’s Week Long Book Club~! This week we’ll be focusing on Liars Go To Paradise? by AvianSkies~! (http://puddlecomics.com/comic/book1-lgtp/)

Favorite scene has gotta be the fight between Crenen and Kirid. At this point I really shouldn't be rooting for Crenen to win anything. He's clearly a horrible person, so I have no reason to want him to survive this fight and rule over even more people. And yet... that fakeout with Kirid's hand seemingly going through Crenen's chest had me at the edge of my seat.

I'm curious how question 2's subject matter ends up playing out. Looking at the synopsis... Jason “Key” Sterling is a liar, and he knows that liars don’t go to Paradise. So when he’s pushed into a puddle and wakes up in a fantastical world called just that, he knows there’s a catch. There's potentially thematic relevance in that Key thinks he isn't deserving of being the subject of this prophecy, because he believes he's a bad person at heart? Alternatively... do we see anyone besides Key lie in this world? Maybe this truly is Paradise, but it just ain't all it's cracked up to be.

For favorite character... I have a hard time deciding between Crenen and Veija. Veija is such a fun take on the "seer" trope with how ditzy and unfocused she is on everything. But Crenen... he's so entertaining. Like I was clicking from page to page just to see what horrible and/or crazy thing Crenen would do next.

1) I think my favorite scene in the comic is the one where Key talks with Veija in the dreamish world. Veija is all around a super entertaining character and it was hilarious every moment she was in the scene. But I also liked that we got some heavy exposition for Key as well cause it added some weight to the story. It was a good best of both worlds scenario that really got me more invested in the story as a whole. 2) I want to get super metaphorical and say that Key seems the most dishonest with himself. Like he really holds himself back, possibly as a defense mechanism, so if Key is lying to anybody, it's him about what he wants, what he thinks he's capable of, and so forth. However, the strongest people tend to be the ones who overcome that sort of adversity, which might make Key be the, well, umm, key to overcoming the general complacency brought on by despair. At the very least you could argue hope can sometimes be a lie, but sometimes that lie is what pulls you through.
3) My favorite character is probably Veija. Veija is like this beautiful existence of contradictions, and I think Veija legit gets the best facial expressions in the comic. She was the one I was most excited to appear again in the comic a second time, so gotta go with her. 4) I feel like Chas definitely has to be from paradise. Like maybe he's a secret agent sent there to find Key. I def hope we see him again, cause I feel like he knows things even other characters like Crenen don't know that could be vital. As for how he knew to choose Key though, I assume he just had some prophecy to go off of. Although I personally find it more entertaining to think that Chas just pushes people into puddles and hopes eventually one of them with go through.

5) I definitely have to go with the large panel on this page here for fave illustration http://puddlecomics.com/comic/loss-12/ I'm really in love with the contrasting colors cause you got this magic stuff juxtaposed against a beautiful night sky. It gives it this beautiful, mystic quality that I'm an absolute sucker for. 6) I think there's kind of two parts to Key's decision. The first part is the fear of what if. Cause at this point, if he doesnt try to help, hes going to live with the eternal regret and thought that maybe he really couldve helped - and that he essentially sentenced a bunch of people to die because he was too afraid. The other part of Key's decision I think is just him wanting to find purpose. In regards to choice and the themes and stuff, I think this choice kind of says what is usually the case for destiny. You always have a choice on whether to follow it or not. But sometimes destiny knows what it's talking about. And in other cases, destiny is somewhat similar to duty. Also, last part, yes, I think Key is experiencing something very real. But I'd also argue dreams are real experiences even if that aren't experiences that happen in the real world.
7) I enjoy seeing Key and Crenen interact the most. Crenen is by and large a very entertaining character. From manner of speech to how he conducts himself. Yet it's pretty clear he cares about things in his own way, including Key a little bit. Whereas Key seems to have this strange almost stockholm-y syndrome thing with Crenen going on where he hates him and doesn't want him to die. So overall their relationship gives me many conflicting feels and I like that, cause relationships don't always have to be clean and straightforward. THey can be a mess of questions. 8) I think Key can actually help. At the very least he's more hopeful than everyone else it seems, and as I said earlier, bringing hope can mean a lot. As for actual concrete results, maybe they'll use Key to make a magic vaccine. Or maybe Key will kill the source somehow. Which I do kind of feel like the sickness isn't just a normal sickness. So not just some rando disease that sprouted up. Like maybe Paradise as a world is decaying and that's affecting the people, or something.

. . . 9) One of the details I really appreciate is the details on the foliage. Foliage is super tedious in any regard. There's a lot you can get away with passing first glance test though. THat being said, when its up close, this comic really goes all out and doesnt skimp on the foliage. For example, this page http://puddlecomics.com/comic/midnight-duel-17/. You can see the little vein stem things in the leaves, and that's just such a beautiful detail that really sells the nature when you stare at the image longer. I love it. <3 10) I think there's two parts to why Jenen won't take over the Yenen clan. The first part is just that being a leader is a burden and actually kind of sucks. XD THe second part, though, I just feel like Jenen is searching for something that being tied down to one place would not serve. Cause he gives me the kind of vibe of someone who doesn't care about the physical world all that much and is more into the abstract. As for why this all caused him to leave, well, would you want Crenen breathing down your neck? XD I don't think Jenen will change his mind about leading, but I do think he'll stick around to help Crenen of his own free will. I do think being around sick people is kind of gonna make him question everything though. Cause like Key, it's not easy to do nothing when you can see a ton of people need help.(edited)

4) For Chas - it is worth noting that we never see his ears. So I could definitely see him being a plant from Paradise. Perhaps an aide of Veija? It's odd that he wouldn't have been mentioned yet, but Veija might have forgotten that she sent him there...

5) I absolutely love the page @RebelVampire mentioned, though I have to give an honorable mention to this page: http://puddlecomics.com/comic/the-seers-test-17/ The way the light beams were drawn just gives the whole page a serene feel.
6) Honestly, I think Key has kind of gotten fond of the people's he's met. Jenen showed kindness to him, and Crenen... also has sometimes, but mostly Key seems to have a bit of Stockholm Syndrome lol. Anyway, that plus knowing that people will die if he doesn't go back helped him come to that decision.

@snuffysam I like the idea of Veija just flat out forgetting she sent Chas. So Chas shows up and Veija is like "hello who are you" XD
11) I think this comic's strengths are the beautiful art. The style is unique, the character designs are interesting, and overall its just a joy to look at just because everything is so cohesively designed. 12) I personally think Crenen will come to believe. Honestly I'd argue he kind of believes already in his own way. Not that he'll put all the eggs in that basket, but I think he'd rather bet on Key as opposed to nothing at all. Which this ties into my takeaway from the sentiment that it's better to hope than despair. You're more likely to make a change when you hope and strive to fulfill that hope. Which I feel is something we'll see Key inspire in a lot of people. And because they'll start hoping again, they'll start making changes for the better.
13) I am looking forward to more Veija being a doof and getting some more concrete info on how Key might help. The former for just the pure entertainment, the latter cause I'm eager to see the large direction the story will take, cause then more theory floodgates can open. 14) I think overall the adventures will instill more self confidence in Key. He strikes me as the type who really doesn't like himself, so I think he'll get some self love in there as well as he learns there are things he can do, even if they don't seem to matter in the short term. As for what will cause them, I think it'll just be the overall where he helps someone -> sees effects. Cause it's easier to believe stuff like that when it's obvious and concrete. I actually don't think Key will want to return home at the end. Maybe to say good-bye, but I could legit see Key just wanting to stay in Paradise with the companions he's made. Granted hopefully his good-bye would be less depressing than the one that just recently happened XD

That is a good question, whether Key will return home or not. He's definitely growing to like the people he's met along the way, but it's not like he hates his family back home. Could be a thing where he lives in one world and pays the other a visit every once in a while? As for what I'm looking forward to the most... I'd say even more interactions between the main cast! Key's spent a bit of time separated from the others recently, so I'm yearning for more of that!

1. First game you played obsessively?
babys first video game and major special interest, skyrim. which i currently have roughly 1500-plus hours on between regular and special edition
2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc.
the vast majority of my fic has been for dragon age. its just such a neat world and i love getting to play around in it, even though i dislike a lot of what biowares done with their own setting in later pieces and prefer to sandbox on my own
11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games?
well first of all, dragon age brought me to the love of my life, so jot that down :>
second, aside from my darling datemate, video game fandom did land me some awesome mutuals, a number of whom are still around years later even though we share almost no interests and barely ever interact. technically quinns the only one who could be defined as a friend, bc we talk fairly regularly and stuff, but aside from the occasional reply to personal posts most of my mutuals are silent but still dear to my heart
36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game?
when i get frustrated i tend to slam my hand down beside me or on my knee but one time i misjudged the landing spot and caught my hand on the edge of my laptop and scraped my hand, does that count
48. How long does it take your to customize your player character?
chargen takes an hour, minimum, and thats if im familiar with the cc and have a character in mind already
50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create?
dudebruh, idk. the first thing in my head was ‘ace and aro friendly romance/qplatonic relationship arcs’ and ‘canon nonbinary characters’, so i guess thats a thing. ive never been particularly good at plots (hence, why all my fic is one-shot fluff...), altho i did once have an ongoing story in my head about a fallen god trying to get back to the overworld to stop the ruling goddess from destroying everything, and maybe in the process clear his name with the mortals who had hated and feared him for centuries if not millenia bc the goddess had warped the legends to reverse their roles and paint him as the callous self-centered destroyer instead of the literal author of life whose job had been to keep the record books of history so that no soul faded from eternal memory
maybe something with that
69. In your opinion, best game ever made?
uhhhh. shit. i mean theyve all got high and low points, and some i like more for the sandbox they gave me than for anything in canon. i like dragon age: origins and da2, but dao is tedious to replay and i feel like in order to get my ideal ending in 2 i have to trawl the wiki and plan out all my dialogue choices and party constructions for each quest before i start playing. inquisition is pretty and i liked the story i crafted with my lavellan (and also being a knight enchanter, even after the nerf its still super powerful with the right skills picked), but it doesnt really fit other ocs and the first several hours are a drag to play
ive enjoyed what ive played of andromeda so far, although it really couldve benefited from more development time and care from the parent company. i liked me1 and what ive completed of 2, though im terrible at combat, and dont often have the spoons for the level of concentration needed to pay attention to plot things (which is why i like exploration-heavy games, tbh)
fallout 4 is one of my favorites, id say. i tried new vegas, with two different characters,and just couldnt get into it. i think my biggest problem with 4 is that it kinda forces you into a specific character at certain points (ranging from having a nuclear family at the start and automatic attachment to your spouse and child, to being limited in good options in nuka world, down to the very trivial bit in the bradberton quest where you can only object to letting him live bc then you dont get cool weapons, and not bc /hes been living essentially in solitary confinement for 200 years/ and wants to rest, which i only remember so strongly bc i was going through my screenshots the other night and got grumpy about it all over again)
saints row is a series i like almost exclusively for the sandbox. my boss’ life follows maybe 10% of game canon; it might as well be an original work that just happens to have cities called stilwater and steelport and a gang known as the saints
dream daddy was cute and fun (and i Love damian and mary, and also amanda, best daughter), skyrim is my longest-running game and i enjoyed oblivion as well, starbound fulfills my need for mindless exploration and resource hoarding without the need for any plot or direction, stardew valley is adorable and lets me be a polyamorous bi nerdlord with a sweet farm...
i cant really pick a favorite tbh

ok really long post ahead, sorry for mobile users since i dont think the spoiler break works on mobile iirc
i finally finished the main quest for fo4.. um.... was that it?? that was kinda my first reaction lol. ok i have SO many thoughts as i always do when i finish a game.. maybe more for this one tho
so i ended up doing both the minutemen and bos endings because they split relatively late in the story so i just made two separate saves... they were basically the same except i thought following liberty prime was kinda fun lol. i liked watching him pick up a behemoth and then just throwing it to the ground
so now that i’ve like... finished the game.... i guess i can see why people complain that fo4 is more of an fps than an rpg
like.... i’ve dumped a ton of hours into this game, but that’s mostly because i’ve spent a lot of time building settlements lol. besides that, the story does seem to be lacking a bit. i think it definitely had potential, but nothing was really fleshed out that well... like if i try to think back on what i did, i’m like.. ??
maybe part of that is because four main factions was a little ambitious? i just feel like there wasn’t much opportunity to actually get to know each faction and like actually feel like you were involved with them
1) minutemen - i mean, you got a shitton of radiant quests from preston (which drove me crazy very early on and got modded out)... and then what? you claim settlements and that’s about it. reclaiming the castle is as deep as the story gets. besides that all you have is radiant quests
also there were like... zero named characters besides preston who were actually really involved with the minutement. like there was ronnie shaw but she just ends being a merchant later, and i didn’t even get the proper armory quest from her because my game glitched out. so basically she was just a unique merchant for me
and like... who else is there?? there’s the sanctuary crew and some named settlers but none of them are really part of the “minutemen.” so like you didn’t really get to talk to members of the faction and stuff and actually feel like you were immersed in the story. like i know that the story is that you’re rebuilding the minutemen so there’s supposed to be no one but preston, but later on as you claim settlements and expand the minutement and stuff there’s still nothing... no new story, quest, npcs... you have to do some dungeon clearing quests for some of the named settlers but that’s literally it.
i liked their general “for the people” thing but like... they never really expanded on it... they did end up being one of the two factions that i sided with because of their cause but i just think the story (or lack thereof, really) with them was pretty bland
2) railroad - well i was considering joining them very early on cause i do think their cause is decent, i like deacon, and i accidentally spoiled for myself that danse is a synth (i like danse because i mean you know me and my beef)... but then i felt like they were a little too focused on the synths. like that was literally just their entire cause. and i just felt like that was just too narrow.
and you met these characters that you really just.... met and then nothing ever happened later with them! like high rise, mister tims, idk what the point of drummer boy was, etc..
and again there were just a ton of radiant quests... at least they were all finite, but like there was what? helping that one safehouse (forgot the name), mila quests, and pam’s caches. the ticonderoga quest was kinda interesting but i wish there was something more besides “here’s ticonderoga. oh whoops it gets destroyed later. haha!”
3) institute - well i disliked them right off the bat because they were the ones who not only MURDERED MY HUSBAND but also KIDNAPPED AND BRAINWASHED MY CHILD (yes i consider it brainwashing)????? like come on. i take this stuff very personally man. it’s the same reason why i joined the stormcloaks in skyrim (before realizing what a bunch of racist assholes they are but.... i digress) cause i was like WHY tf would i join a group that tried to execute me with absolutely zero cause
so i’m just like why would i join a group that murdered my husband (right in front of my eyes i might add) and kidnapped my child. hello??? like yeah i hated the fact that they gave you a goddamn baby in the first place, but since i had it i was like WELL I AM OUTRAGED THAT THEY DID THIS TO MY CHILD.
then there was the whole deal with them actually taking real people (and presumably murdering them) and replacing them with synth copies. i HATED that a lot and it was a big turnoff on top of all of my personal grievances against them. their elitist attitude towards the commonwealth was annoying as fuck as well as their manufacturing of gen 3 synths for what was basically slave labor. also there were like random conversations that would occur between scientists and synths and the scientists were such assholes.
oooooh and the part where you ask shaun why he decided to let you out of your cryo pod and he’s like “well... i suppose that i just wanted to see what would happen” and i was like BITCH WHAT?????? EXCUSE ME?????? THAT’S YOUR REASON??
like the shaun/father thing was an interesting twist in the story... but it def was not enough to make me want to join the institute. esp with that craphole reason that he gave me for letting me out of the cryo pod. and like the dude is basically a stranger to you, why tf would you just join the institute bc he’s “”””family””””? i suppose they tried to make it a more difficult dilemma by really trying to push your character’s story in the “i’m looking for my son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” direction before you actually find out what happened to shaun, but i didnt find that a very compelling plot point in the first place.... so it had pretty much no bearing on my decision
also. the synth shaun. he made the synth shaun which is like super weird and a little creepy. like this kid’s never gonna age.... i mean 50 years from now he’s gonna be a 60 y-o in a 10 y-o’s body!!!!!!!! who tf thought that was a good idea?? i mean i’m on the “gen 3 synths are truly sentient” train cause the game basically does nothing to show you otherwise. you have institute scientists telling you that they aren’t, but literally everything in the game shows you that they are. also danse
and then their cause... they say they’re the “best hope for humanity” and stuff but like what are they actually doing to help humanity. the only beneficial thing they did was create gmos like that huge pumpkin (while replacing roger ww in the process which as i mentioned before was something i hated). besides that, wtf are they doing besides hiding away in their blindingly white laboratories experimenting w/ synths??
anyway yeah i hated the institute but i guess in terms of “story” they did a little better than the railroad and minutemen. but they honestly got a helping hand from the fact that shaun was involved with them and a large part of the story early on was looking around for information about shaun and being able to ask npcs about the institute. however once you proceeded past a certain point they also fell into a very boring routine of having a handful of radiant quests available and not much else involving them
4) bos - well.... i def felt like they were super culty when i first went onto the prydwen. and i really dont like their stance on gen 3s and non-feral ghouls. but i do like that theyre out and about clearing the commonwealth of super mutants, ferals, and raiders lol.
i really really hate the whole danse thing tho and how close-minded they are about him :( i did see that there was actually cut content where you could challenge maxson and danse would get his rank back and i kinda wish that they actually implemented that. i dont really want the elder role but i’d like the chance to do something where you could shift the bos’s opinion on gen 3s, even if only slightly... like THAT would be a good story element, come on!
but w/e. i really didnt like them at first but i like their aesthetic compared to everyone else and their general cause (at least theyre not like opening fire on the slog, right... ?) ..
anyway i might just stick with their ending as my “main” playthrough cause afaict they’re not much diff from the minutemen ending except i get the sentinel rank, and you actually have some named people that you can interact with about your choice.
ok im actually really tired of writing this post... i actually have so many more thoughts haha but i dunno if i’ll be able to get them all out because as if on cue i’m getting tired around midnight.. anyway
yeah so the story was eh and i wish it went more in depth. like, even though i wasnt super fond of fnv’s story, i did think it was more immersive and detailed... i think fo4 had a lot of potential but sadly didn’t quite deliver. tbh i think the game couldve gone without the railroad if four factions really did just spread them too thin while in development.
like i think the part of the story with kellogg was good... the whole thing about trying to find the identity of this guy, searching his home, searching for him, looking through his memories, etc was pretty interesting. i liked how we were able to see his backstory and something about him that wasn’t just “dude who murdered my husband.” like that was all good stuff! but the story REALLY deteriorated after that... i mean you just end up having to kill the guy and then he’s just out of the story completely.
oh and like related to that--what was that whole deal with nick speaking in kellogg’s voice briefly after you finish in the memory den??? why would they just throw in a line like that and not expand on it at all???? that bugged me SO MUCH because again there was so much potential there!!! if kellogg had somehow gotten into nick’s mind you could be presented with so many new options. like how do you get him out? can you get him out? who do you go to for help? etc etc etc NOT JUST SOME THROWAWAY LINE THAT ACTUALLY DOES NOTHING AHHH
speaking of which. fo4 seems to do that a LOT. like maybe it’s recency bias bc i really dont remember all the details of fnv to be able to compare, but i feel like fo4 has a ton of little throwaway things that are interesting details but aren’t expanded on at all. like not even a little bit. i think there needs to be a certain balance between details and mini stories... like fo4 dangled SO many of these little details in your face that you just never got to expand on at all.. i love an interesting world where you can discover things that dont really have an impact on the main story or anything but these scraps just drove me crazy.
also there were like... no vaults??? i feel like fnv had a lot more... fo4 has vault 95 for cait (and a kinda boring purpose/story imo). the vault of triggermen where you find nick. the vault for refining human genes. vault 81. and that’s it.. i felt like i spent a lot more time in vaults in fnv? and they had some creepier stories/experiments too

SETTLEMENTS. LORD HELP ME. again, a great concept with so much potential but poor execution. i really enjoyed settlements--with mods. vanilla settlements are just so horribly lacking. for one thing not being able to clean up your settlement is just terrible. you really would just have to leave piles of trash, garbage, debris, 200-YEAR-OLD SKELETONS, etc, lying around your settlement!!!!! where you’re supposed to have people living!!
settlers themselves also have some pretty terrible ai. theyre stupid af. their pathing is godawful. i am extremely proud of them when they actually are able to successfully navigate a structure i built because it is such a goddamn struggle for them! like they’re literally coded to take the shortest possible straight line path so i get tons of them walking into walls trying to get to their destination instead of walking around them, going through doorways, using stairs etc (yes theyre all navmeshed)... it’s actually so aggravating
also settlements themselves are incredibly and frustratingly buggy. the resources getting messed up in your pip boy bug is super annoying. there’s a shit ton of other bugs with them that i’m just too tired to list but i’m like ahhh god i feel like i’m playing a beta version of this shit! also what’s up with them spawning on top of buildings in sanctuary?
ok yeah i have a lot of crticisms for the game so it may not seem like i enjoyed it but i actually did. i think the story was decent up until after you finished kellogg’s part, cause after that it just got really boring (which is lame because seriously, the story gets boring after you can start decided which faction/s you want to join??)
but mods def contributed a lot to my enjoyment, esp my settlement mods... like most of my mods are settlement mods lol. so like... if i played vanilla fo4 i do doubt that i’d have enjoyed it as much. i do actually like the fps aspect of it, but i think there are too many places that are overloaded with enemies.. so you’re constantly fighting shit. it gets kind of annoying after a while.
OH THAT JUST REMINDED ME. GUNNERS. another thing that had potential but ended up just being... ??? raiders but fancier??? you could literally switch out all the gunners for raiders and nothing would change. when i first encountered them i was really excited cause i thought it was a new side faction but they’re literally just... raiders. but fancy. it’s disappointing af. there’s no story behind them... you can get into gunners plaza and find some holotapes from the leader and some members but then there’s nothing else! you don’t ever get to find out what the story is behind all of it! again with dangling some details in front of your face and then just never expanding on it at all. ugh gunners were seriously a big disappointment for me.
