i think the most annoying part of dog food discourse is how many people will act as though proplan/hill’s/Royal canin diets aren’t extremely and prohibitively expensive and that THAT is the reason so many people look into healthy alternatives.

People complain about corn being in the first five ingredients on most of those feeds because, regardless of other factors here, that is not an expensive ingredient. But it makes up a large chunk of the dry food. So the dry food should be fairly affordable, right?

Oh… with tax you’re spending about $100 for one 45lb bag of food where the third ingredient is wheat and the fourth and fifth ingredients are corn.

Oh… well! It’s slightly cheaper! But the second ingredient is rice, third is wheat, fourth is corn, and then fifth is poultry byproduct. None of those are very expensive so this just must be the low end cost of dog food unfortunately. The vets recommend it so surely that means prices aren’t inflated, right?

Oh? This one has similar ingredients with the only real difference being no corn? And it’s half the price?? Well surely that’s just a fluke.

This one even has CORN in it and it’s $20 cheaper?? Wow!

Like listen at some point I don’t care if your dog food has the ichor of the gods in it, I’m not spending $100 every five days if there are cheaper options with just as many “good” ingredients in it. If you think I’m a dog abuser because I can’t afford this overpriced garbage, that’s too bad. I don’t care. My dogs are perfectly healthy with the food I give them. Great weight and great coat. People giving dog food recommendations that aren’t those top three hyper-expensive dog foods aren’t trying to epic own those dastardly vets half the time, but I really don’t blame the ones who do lose trust in vets when the only heartworm protection they recommend lately are expensive triple-action brands like Simparica Trio that costs $120+ as opposed to the other heartworm protections that are only about $40-$60 on average, which is still cheaper even if you add on a $20-$40 flea and tick protection separately, and only recommend dog food that costs $85+ a bag even if your dog doesn’t have specialized dietary needs.

Those top three foods are GREAT at making competent prescription diets, I don’t deny that. I do still have to criticize the pricing of those prescription diets though because I have spoken to DOZENS of people who had to pull their pets off of a prescription diet and struggle to find something comparable because they couldn’t afford the food, and that’s terrible! These are not poor companies! Purina, Royal Canin, and Hill’s can ABSOLUTELY afford to lower their prices to make their food accessible to people who need it for their animals but they don’t. They probably never will. Because at the core they are run by greedy corporations. It doesn’t matter how many good nutritionists are on board if the company is run by people who put profits over customers and make the food impossible for people to afford.

Hello! I don't know if this was answered before, but since areas were changed, I wanted to ask—do the other areas from original undertale still exist, just elsewhere in the underground, inaccessible to the player? Or is it a very straightforward full swap

The other areas from Undertale (i.e. Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall, and Hotland) don't exist -- we've re-imagined each of them based on swapping the seasons the original areas represented!

Undertale's locations were pretty straightforward with what seasons they represented (including via the word search "puzzle"), being:

Ruins (Fall)

Snowdin (Winter)

Waterfall (Spring)

Hotland (Summer)

New Home (N/A)

With TS!Underswap, we swapped the areas' climates around and re-imagined them as brand new locations. These include:

Ruined Home (Spring) -- much more vibrant palette and flora

Starlight Isles (Summer) -- we took a "mysterious nighttime summer forest" direction with this, less direct representation of "summer" than Hotland

Crystal Springs (Fall) -- more autumn-esque palette, damp caves and dripping water

Boreal Bluffs (Winter) -- freezing oceans and snowy peaks, more direct representation of "winter" (akin to Hotland with summer)

The City of New (N/A) -- we aim to build on the "overpopulated" aspect here

With Starlight Isles, we ended up having a bit of a dilemma. Undertale's fire and snow elemental monsters had areas specifically tailored to them -- Hotland and Snowdin, respectively -- whereas here, Starlight Isles was a less direct representation of summer. Because of this, we created "Sunnedout Gorge" as the home for fire elemental monsters! While it can't be accessed (we would if the project wasn't already so ambitious), it can be seen from afar and heard about from monsters!

Crystal Springs is still being worked on, but we plan to have three sections. First is the Crystal Mines, where you take a detour through mining sites, cramped caves, and wider expanses. Next is the main Crystal Springs section, which consists of various old monuments, small settlements, tourist spots, and Royal Navy outposts. The final one is spoilers!

I know I went a bit overboard when answering your question, haha, but I hope this helps!

I wanted to ask how you got started in learning to make your own templates like this! They're very intricately gorgeous but there's little to no tutorials coming up every time I try to search? Is there also some form of coding involved? Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much! No coding involved. Google Docs is basically like Microsoft word but less rigid, it allows you to do almost anything you like as long as you know how to manipulate its tools. I have a bit of a background in coding so, though it doesn't involve code, thinking about the layout of a doc like the page of a website is helpful. I only started making docs for character sheets three years ago when I started rping on Discord. Doc templates or doc character sheets are essential on Discord for literate rp and from the jump I saw the potential in the program. I made my own from the start and the first one I ever made was better than any I had ever seen (at the time) even though I had never done it before. (This is my first ever doc if you're curious) - this is my personal information and design, do not copy, do not steal. Definitely not my best anymore but still proud. Never even touched another template before then. I had no teacher, no tutorial. I just went in, played around, made my own rules. In fact, a lot of the things you see people do on doc templates these days, I was the first to do them. I've happily taught fellow creators how to make navigation bars using headers as a way to link to certain spots on a page, great ways on how to implement Drawings (not too much though, text on Drawings is inaccessible to many), even putting likes and dislikes in a list was uncommon before I did it. Like web design, there are trends in the doc world. Knowing the basics of how to make tables do what you want opens doors to everything but really, if you want to create something uniquely you, the best way to do it is just to play around, explore, and invent your own new uses. There no one answer to how to do it, more than one way to skin a cat. (Terrible phrase) I've created some "tutorial-ish" advice answered asks posts that you can read if you'd like more advice on how to up your doc game and if you or anyone ever has a question on "how did you do this on this doc?" or "I want to do this specific thing, how would you do that?", my dms are always open and if you want to talk on Discord, we can do that too. - How to get started/Breaking to learn - How to see in tables - Resources I use There might be other good advice in my other answered asks too. But yeah! Message me privately any questions you have. I try not to post too much other than important helpful information and my doc templates because I have a lot of followers I try to be respectful of. Total Unhinged Time Travel Fix it!

The usual chosen are sent back to prevent the dance with their memories of the future and their demise fresh on their minds…but something…occurs.

So! The three sons of Rhaenyra: Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey, upon their death are pulled in by the Gods of Old Valyria and asked to Prevent the Dance right? They are all up for it for various reasons, but the main being they all want to be able to live their lives out until their time comes.

The gods prepare to send them back but something or someone interferes, yoinking the three of three of them from the grips of the Old Gods and telling them that they won’t be able to stop the dance in the next life they have, only making things worse since they aren’t trained enough and they have too much hatred within them for what has happened to their families and themselves. They offer them a chance to learn the ways of a new culture so they might not only be prepared but also have something the Hightowers don’t, they agree.

Any western world is out of the way since they are all pretty much the same, so they are sent to a version of Feudal Japan, during a fantasy age in which Dragon Gods in human form rule them all, and sensing the blood of the dragon within the boys they take them in, the Emperor making them his wards while three generals make them their person protoge’s.

They live out their lives in this world, learning their martial arts, fighting techniques and weaponry and face many challenges such as rebellion, loss of a family and making a new life for themselves.

*Jacaerys becomes a mercenary under the name of Lord Crow, he takes care of orphans from the war that destroyed the country and holds a region of land that is inaccessible to many others. He is solemn and quiet, never really coming out of his hiding or being all that public as he defends his lands to the best of his ability. He becomes a pretty good spear user.

*Lucerys moved to a different province and runs the entertainment districts which is a front for information and protecting refugees from the empire he once served before it was overthrown. He developed his own brand of poison and has taken so much of it his own blood is poison. He takes the moniker Lord Butterfly as he bred his own poisonous butterfly to help him as well.

*Joffrey became a wanderer who takes out various camps from the rebellion, taking on the name of Lord Falcon. He kills any and all who destroyed the empire he once lived in; as well as delivering orphans to Jace who takes them all in without too much hassle.

All three of them work to try and overthrow the new government and end up dying in the process.

They are taken back by the gods of Old Valyria who were frantic to get them back to ensure they are the ones to prevent the dance. In that moment the three dragon gods who helped raise them appear and hand them their divine weapons they had gifted them in life, telling them to take them with them to their realm to prevent the dance. They do and are returned to the day they arrived in Dragonstone, after Luke took out Aemond’s eye.

Because of them being taken the gods expelled much energy to get them back and were unable to send them back further. They make use of it and begin to train and do what they need to be prepared for the dance that is to come.

Leads into the day Luke’s legitimacy is questioned and they are brought back to Kings Landing for the first time in years.

They display their skills as nothing as it seems and their old past that is not known to anyone is coming in to mess with things, lending to an even messier road to peace.

Oh! And Aemond and Ageon totally are not obsessed with their nephews becoming deadly killing machines with little regard for how they are confusing the fuck out of people.

Joffrey sneaks off to recruit Daeron to their little group, leading to another uncle crushing on their nephew.

NOTE! ALL THE SECOND LIFE IN ANOTHER CULTURE HAPPENS IN THE BACKGROUND AND IS DROPPED THROUGHOUT THE STORY HERE AND THERE. NOT A MAJOR COMPONENT.

I'm pretty laid back if someone's parked in a disability spot without a placard. Like, they can be hard as fuck to get sometimes. Health insurance isn't free, it takes three months for a permanent one to arrive and dmvs are some of the most inaccessible buildings possible. I've even been okay with someone trying to help someone else by jump starting their car, because they were in the stripped spot but trying to take up as little space as possible with the other parking spot next to it taken.

But today I've seen

A literal classmate sitting in a car next to their friend in the spot closest to the door.

A brand new SUV sitting in the first spot again with someone still sitting inside

been thinking on that BNHA/Pokemon crossover. I mentioned that pokemon are new to the setting. Less than 300 yrs of folks interacting with pokemon wild pokemon are more aggressive than in the Pokemon world since people's first response to magic monsters/pests was 'kill it'

the pokedexes are still being made so rare pokemon are little known about. Legendaries are basiclly just living natural disasters. Mythicals are barely heard of cryptids

pokemon found only on certain continents aren't as well known as the mons found everywhere

and since, only weak people use strong mons/big teams, a lot of final stage pokemon are really only seen with professional trainers/coordinators

if you can find it only on victory roads? only hardcore trainers/gym leaders/elite 4/champions have it

likewise victory roads are more or less inaccessible to anyone who isn't a trainer with 8+ badges or a pokemon ranger. The wild pokemon are hostile and strong

there are those fucking warp pads/teleporters. someone decided that this was tech that needed to be made and did it unlike the nonpokemon related scientific fields that went eh to progressing shit in the wake of reality breaking powers

a big team for someone with a decent quirk is probably around 3 mons. Likely 1st -2nd stage mons or nonevolving

Snapchat is an American multimedia instant messaging app and service developed by Snap Inc., originally Snapchat Inc. as someone who has a difficult time with period maintenance, i have to say that they are lifesavers! the convenience is unmatched and they don’t cause any sensory issues like other products have for me in the past.

i own a pair of Thinx boy shorts and these briefs from Hanes work just as well, if not better.

my financial situation has changed drastically over the past few years, as i’m sure it has for many others, so i am no longer able to afford the exorbitant prices the name brand companies charge. to say that $30 per pair of underwear makes this convenient option for period care wildly inaccessible to most of the population, is putting it lightly. it’s disgusting.

i wanted to make sure that other people knew that there were more affordable options out there. i certainly didn’t.

More than 1800 Cats Reached through Keeping Families Together™ in Iowa

Alley Cat Allies’ Keeping Families Together™ collaboration with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa this fall has provided incredible, no-cost resources to cats throughout the Des Moines area!

In just three cat food distribution events in October and November, the latest being November 8, we handed out cans of cat food to more than 540 households to help more than 1,800 cats and kittens!

Alley Cat Allies covered the costs of more than 26,000 pounds of cat food to be distributed over time. Right now, when many residents of Des Moines—and people across the country—are facing financial challenges, our work is critical to ensure people can continue to care for their indoor and community cats.

To that end, our Keeping Families Together program doesn’t just encompass food, but also veterinary services and other needed resources. That’s why we held a vaccine and wellness clinic with ARL on November 7, which provided 64 cats and kittens with care that may have otherwise been inaccessible to their families.

All clinic fees were waived thanks to an Alley Cat Allies grant! It was an honor to meet families and learn their cats’ stories. A beautiful and outgoing 6-month-old black kitten named Sheba, we learned, was heading back home vaccinated and healthy to her sister—her favorite playmate.

As the food distribution and clinic were underway, Alley Cat Allies also covered the costs of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for Des Moines community cats, as well as 14 brand new humane traps.

Through TNR, cats are humanely trapped, brought to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped, and microchipped, and then are returned to the outdoor home in which they thrive. With communities nationwide experiencing a shortage in both veterinarians and veterinary appointments—and with veterinary costs rising—no-cost and low-cost spay and neuter and TNR are invaluable.

We had the chance to watch community cat One Star return to his outdoor home, vaccinated and eartipped. His first order of business after his homecoming: a hearty meal!

Alley Cat Allies’ Keeping Families Together program provides food security, veterinary care, and other needed resources for cats during a time when economic uncertainty can make access to these necessities more challenging. Cats are family, too, and Alley Cat Allies’ goal is to ensure no one feels pressured to relinquish their cats to animal shelters or to stop caring for community cats.
