i love rowan so much. poor guy’s been through so much 😭 his trauma is insurmountable like it’s actually insane to me. he’s basically an expert assassin there’s no one at his level but he doesn’t want it!!!!! i think people forget how genuinely fucking cool he is because he 1. keeps getting kidnapped and almost killed because of the impact he’s had on the world and goddard’s goofy ass claims and 2. he’s honestly so silly 😭😭😭

thinking today about that one line from neal shusterman's the toll where greyson asks the Thunderhead if he is a bad person the Thunderhead tells him "you are a wonderful person. you are a terrible person"

and he asks it, "so which is it?" and the Thunderhead says, "why can't you see the answer is both?"

honestly, these lines changed the way i think about people's actions so much. it can be so difficult for me to not instantly judge people based on things they've done to me in the past, or how they've made me feel. my first instinct is that of a lot of people: just classify people into the box of good or bad, looking at traits that i consider good or bad. but people being both infinitely wonderful and also limitelessly terrible recontexualizes that so much-- an action can be wonderful or terrible, i can feel that a person is wonderful or terrible, but that doesn't change the fact that they can do both.

anyone is capable of wonderful things. anyone is capable of terrible things. nothing is mutually exclusive.
