❤ and 💚 plsss 🥰🥰
BELOVED. Thank youuuuu for your ask <3
💚 - What show has the best soundtrack?
worst question possible, worst question imaginable. I can't really pick?!
There's itsay because im a skyline fanatic first and a human being second and the overall scoring was! beautiful! I need dramatic scoring. I need swelling of the music. I need. I don't like the Phuket Love score, it's cheesy but the rest of the score makes it up for it. Skyline eats anything else. Shoutout to the OJ chinese version. Sorry BKPP but this one is just !!!!!
Then there's TMS2. It's also kinda fresh in my mind. Although there was not a single moment or piece which was as impactful it was overall solid and consistent and I love listening to it. Seojoon and Jiwoo's duet healed me.
Hand gripping my thigh right now, resisting the urge to be so predictable but also. Atots. Atots soundtrack is sooo underrated. The scoring in some of those scenes, man. When Phupha gets shot. When their hands bump. Sometimes I wonder if the scene was good or they tricked me with the score. And then the on-going wind motif in all the other songs like the karaoke song or laum. and when phupha's version of the opening theme plays when they meet again. AH.
🖤 - What couple deserved a better show than what they got?
Ramking deserved the whole show to be about them. Im sorry. The rest can just become background. IDK.
Also Khaotung and Podd deserved so much better than whatever happened on Tonhon Chonlatee.

Phupha, the wind and longing:
It shows the attention to detail, the care, and the thought put in every aspect of atots when you just sit back and analyze the three non-original soundtracks used in the show, how thematically similar they are and also how they all have the same damn motif; the wind bringing your love to (and away from) you.
First we have the song that Phupha sings during the karaoke scene in episode 3: Her cheeks are rosier than any one else.
It’s sweet and romantic and the chorus is light. It is about someone admiring the subject of their affection.
Her cheeks are redder than anyone else’s
My heart sinks into the ground
My heart or my sweetheart
Just like any star
Within the story, there are many reasons why Phupha's song choice is interesting. He picks this popular (there’s recognition when he starts signing and everyone joins along) love song and sings it at Tian. Also, looking at Tian while singing about rosy cheeks is flirty teasing and very cheeky.
But the way the song moves from diegetic (the characters in the show can hear/is actually played within the story) to non-diegetic (like soundtracks and BGM/ the characters cannot hear it) is both a stylistic choice AND a thematic one. Because Phupha might not have intended it, could not have possibly predicted the longing he would go through this early onto his courtship with Tian but the song is also extremely wistful Here’s how it starts:
I beg the wind to please blow my heart
From the north far away
Floating far away through the distant sky
I beg the wind to please blow my heart to her
I entrust my heart to float over the mountains
To the ends of the sky, my heart will reach her
Just looking into her eyes once, my heart was transfixed
Crazily lamenting about my darling
I mean! The narrator fell at first glance, having his ‘heart transfixed’ and is hoping for the wind to blow his heart to where his love is.
This idea of the narrator hoping the wind brings back their love is also present in Oh Wind, the song that Phupha plays on the Khlui in episode 2 and 7 and Lom, the song played during the wedding scene in episode 10.
Oh wind:
Wind oh wind blowing! May the wind take my wistful to you
Lom:
Wind oh wind why does the wind not bring you back here?
Wind, oh please may the wind blow you back to me?
Wind, oh wind blowing may the wind blow my words of love from me
Please take my wistful message to you
The person waiting here is still longing for you
Hoping to see you again one day
And on the subject of those two songs, In both of them, it’s the wind which originally brought the lovers together.
Oh Wind:
Of there's someone here, coming with the wind
Lom:
Wind oh wind blowing, the wind that brought you to me
Phupha and Tian's meeting was this unexpected thing. The wind is an agent of change, of something new. It breaks the stillness of the air.
But the wind is a force of nature, it’s unpredictable. You have no idea when it will suddenly rise again. You try to reach, to grasp but your hand closes on nothing. You were never meant to have this forever. It was temporary- a moment in passing. Thus, the same wind which brought the narrator’s love whisked it away.
Oh Wind:
How lonely I am depressing my heart
Oh my dear heart will you ever meet your better half?
Of there's someone here, coming with the wind
Just when you get to know, just when you get to admire
The wind blows them away without a goodbye
Lom:
Wind oh wind blowing, the wind that brought you to me
Then it took you away from me
Once we were so near, but now you are not here
Wind oh wind where does it blow you to?
Wind oh wind blowing, the wind blows through thousands of people
Can the wind blow you back to me?
How long has it been now? I still remember all the promises you made
Waiting for the wind to blow you to me once again
I am obsessed with the fact that the show found those three songs which sound so drastically different and fit very distinct moods but which all have the same symbolism and themes.
I am obsessed with the imagery of these songs; wind, mountains and distant northern skies. It’s nature and love untethered by worldly restraints. It’s Phupha and Tian as they meet and fall in love.
Then these songs all manage to encapsulate Phupha’s longing- How Tian is whisked into his life for a beautiful, fleeting moment, how the same wind which brought Tian into his life took him away. This is how Phupha had to wait for the wind to bring Tian back.
