"Stupidity," Law's dry reply came without a hitch, as if he had answered this question countless times before. He glanced from his journal to the woman - noting her physique, weapons, stance before returning his tired gaze to the work.

Whoever she was, she looked like a skilled combatant.

"Sadly, I haven't figured out a cure or treatment to it, yet." Of course, it wasn't that, but Law had no desire to get into specifics of his medical research with a stranger. Even if the ever-present stupidity often was the source of a headache and Law would love for it to be gone.

He took a sip of his whiskey, his lazy gaze wandering to the woman again. "I'll take it as a sign you suffer from it if you don't tell me your true purpose in approaching me."

Was Emil serious about any of those? More or less. Less than more. Nevertheless, Emil enjoyed Ayla's company and found the KitKat to be a splendid gymnastics partner. As outraged and paper-throwing as Emil could act at Ayla's inability to taste the sweet taste, she didn't mind in the slightest; in fact, the challenge of finding sweet or savoury snacks had proven entertaining and enriching.

Ayla was a clever and capable woman with a great sense of humour and a mane of hair Emil's fingers itched to dip into.

Look, I know there are some people who complain about how they end up together/Baby ending up with a man at all, and I do get them, but considering how much fucking good it’s done her, I stan. Sai gives her what so many others don’t; respect. He didn’t marry her because she’s hot or powerful - he saw that she deserved better and allowed her a chance to fulfill her dream of getting married, which in a manga that’s all about dreams, this is such a good! Baby 5 deserves to be happy and free and respected and damn it, that’s exactly what she gets with this ship.

             🕷 There was a moment where the spider had to think before it turned into minutes. She started counting on her fingers before subtracting them only to count them again. It seemed there was something on her mind, was it the pieces in her collection? Or the events that which she had obtained them? 

                 “I honestly don’t know. I own so many gowns and so many piece of jewelry.....I’ve been to so many Cocktail Parties, Operas, Galas and Soirees.” There was clearly something insincere about the way she just blew off the question at hand. 

                 That was till there came the clearing of her captains throat and the two shared a look. Mostly Layla staring so hard as if to burn a hole through the man, a psychic conversation clearly between the two. 

               “If you’re being cheeky and playing ignorant to your own paper trail your job is in question. I believe 365,000 was the last receipt that crossed my eyes ....velvet gown with the fur shawl. For the color pigment used to dye it was it not~?” There was a light satisfied tapping of his cigar against the crystal ashtray for a moment as he just smirked at her. Layla only glared back clearly upset she didn’t destroy all the evidence of her shopping escapades . 

               Seemed that he wanted to play hard ball with her when it came to her expensive tastes and wants. Even more so that she didn’t think about price and just handed over the Belly for it. Not that she didn’t work for every coin to buy what she wanted, then again sometimes she just spent blindly.  

               “Yes. For Candle Cove....” The raven hair tried to speak through her teeth on the matter though she was called out. Her smile back at him was presentable but still sickly sweet with anger. 🕷

OOC: What is Shalria (and the other Celestial Dragons, if you feel for them too) view on "legal vices" such as alcohol consumption and smoking?

Gambling would be something she’d be most likely to do on the Gran Tesoro just for fun, along with other Celestial Dragons who go there too given there is a ‘Hyper Suite’ where they specifically stay to enjoy the attractions Gild Tesoro has to offer.

Izo was enjoying a cup of tea, as Ayla asked her question. A fitting one, since it was pouring outside, bringing all togeher indoors, enjoying some warm treats from the kitchen. Hot chocolate, coffee, tea and some strong booze, were on the tables, alongside different pies - apple, cherry, pumpkin, pear and rhubarb, with wihpped cream or sour cream on the side.

"Sometimes. It depends on what kind of rain. If it's like now, then yes. There's something soothing about it, it washes away the negativity and bring forth a new start. It also gives life, so yes, I like the rain when it's just that. Rain without a storm and without destroying anything." He smiled lightly, taking a sip of his tea, while his eyes turned to the small porthole, where the rain slowly poured down the glass. Today the rain was good and refresh everything.

Casey listened to Izo and smiled lightly. His reasoning was pure and true, she liked the rain that way too, but only if she could be inside. Getting wet wasn't fun, but if she had to, she would stay out in the rain. It all depended on what was necessary. "I agree, though when it rains, I like to stay inside and play games. I don't like getting soaked."

Showers were fine, because she did like to be clean, but there was a difference between a shower and rain. Not only the difference in heat, but also the lack of clothes in the shower. The feeling of her clothes clenching to her body wasn't a pleasant one. "What about you? DO you like the rain?"

Ooof. Honestly, while I overall find the fandom to be awesome, I've got two big bugbears. One is how often you see people get overly critical of stuff. Like, don't get me wrong, Oda is far from perfect, and of course one should be critical of the media you consume, but there are so many that spend so much time bashing arcs and characters and aspects that I seriously want to ask "Then why the fuck do you watch/read One Piece?!" But this isn't unique to the fandom, so I've learned to just roll my eyes and tune them out for the most part so long as they just let me enjoy the series that has helped me make amazing friends and survive quarantine.

The second is how often the fandom likes to portray Law as a blushing uwu boy who only looks like he's scary but is actually nice and harmless. Maybe I've just become protective of him, but I'm really sick of seeing that shit because he’s not written like that at all in canon. He can be soft occasionally, but that's only to a small group of people (the Hearts, his bio family, sometimes Corazon) but that's really it. I mostly see this in shipping context, and it’s the main reason I don’t read a lot of yaoi fics for him - writers make him a blushing, submissive bottom so often and I HATE IT.

It was a bit... unexpected to be having a guest over at such short notice, but Oscar really did have need of local information as soon as possible and this woman was said to be the best source around. Offering her a warm meal as an added bonus seemed only fair, and besides, she looked as though she had been through a couple of hard rounds over the course of her life if that scar over her eye was anything to go by. Not that he’d mention it, of course. He’d heard that the mercenary life was difficult enough already as it was and the fact she was still standing gave her merit even if her reputation didn’t already preceed her. A stickler for contracts and other bothersome legalese, Ayla was a mercenary known to the marines who could be trusted to keep her nose clean and weapons unbloodied, nor was one to be bribed so easily for fear of tarnishing her record. Could she lie? Who knew in the right circumstances, but all he needed was a reliable source to check in with should he uncover any questionable activities for as long as he was stationed here. "You don’t have any allergies, do you? I’m making some green shrimp curry tonight with either noodles or rice, depending on what you like...” It was a fairly simple meal, green paste already pre-made and bought at a local market along with a bag of large tiger prawns fished from the sea that very morning. Coconut milk, brown sugar, green chillies and a handful of other seasonings such as lemongrass and lime leaves would go a long way to flavouring the dish along with a few slices of lime to compliment the green curry overall. Shelling the freshly-cooked shellfish, they were the last to be added to the gently simmering mixture as he prepared the rice, gleaming white as snow as he ladled a generous spoonful into a small bowl before selecting a larger bowl to serve as the vessel for the green curry itself. Six or seven juicy de-shelled, de-veined prawn tails were placed on top of the little green sea in a circular pattern, sauce thick with spiced vegetables and even some noodles to plump up the dish as Oscar served his guest with some prawn crackers, before sitting down at the dining table himself while going over Ayla’s contract...

“I trust this is satisfactory then, Ayla?” Was he talking about the meal or the terms of her contract? The night was still young if she wanted to smooth over and finalize any details.
