Lately, I've been playing Sea of Stars by Sabotage Studios, and in the Headmaster's Office (which you can't enter for quite a while), there's a stone tablet that looks like this:

I proceeded to spend around three hours translating the cypher. I started with M O N S and U thanks to the theme of the game making it pretty clear that the big words here were MOON and SUN.

The trouble with this is the empire had the authority of the emperor and usually an aristocratic class. Even today, it is hard not to be impressed by the image of a Roman Emperor or French monarch. When the guys making stuff up as they go along live in castles and have a retinue of cool looking knights, it’s easy to go along with the arbitrariness. When the people in charge have the majesty of a postal clerk, even the lowest orders think they can do better. Ours is becoming an empire ruled by midgets.

100 Day Project!

Welcome ladies and gentlemen! Today I will be starting a 100 Day Project. Simply put, every day for the next 100 days I will be producing a new design. I have chosen to create work based off the video game League of Legends, owned by Riot Games, which I am very passionate about. My concept is to create a custom logo for each champion through stylized names accompanied by a graphic that will reflect each champion’s personality and visual appearance. With a roster of over 130 playable champions to choose from, I will have no shortage of options to design for. My plan is to look at my own champion roster and create designs for my top 100 champions that I have the highest mastery points for, starting from the least points to the most. The goal here is to improve my technique over the next 100 days so that each logo is better than the last. Hopefully by the time I get to my number one highest mastery champion, I will have gained enough experience from all the rest to make the best logo possible, one that is fitting of my favorite champion. The only exception is the very first design I have created today: Ahri. Ahri is my highest mastery champion, my absolute favorite out of all the current 134 champions. I want to compare the first design and the last, a before and after of where my skill first started on this project with where it ends. So, fellow gamers, artists, and art enthusiasts (also maybe hopefully some Rioters?), join me for the next 100 days as I see where this project takes me!

After the release of his self-titled solo album in February, the Internet quickly crowned Future’s latest musical effort as one of his best. It wasn’t long after that the #FutureHive discovered “Mask Off” and placed the song on repeat. 

However, when the Internet gets a hold of some dope tunes, you can bet someone will conjure up a social media challenge to go right along with it. Lo and behold, the #MaskOffChallenge was birthed giving Future’s track new momentum. The extra umph no doubt worked as the RIAA announced “Mask Off” has gone gold, selling 500,000 units.

The best part about the #MaskOffChallenge is it showcases a plethora of talented musicians all flexing their musicianship with instruments including the violin, cello and, of course, the beat’s star, the flute.

It seems as if this is a win-win for everyone involved. Future continues to put points on the board while the Internet continues to demonstrate its creativity.
