quick journal before bed

It just clicked now—after the day already ended—but I really did it. I’ve finally stopped being a shut-in, for real this time. No bullshit, I’m on a college campus having a blast and I’ve already made some awesome buddies.

It feels like a huge weight’s been lifted off my shoulders, and it’s only my first day here. But I’ve finally escaped that miserable and lonely hikikomori lifestyle like I’ve been wanting to ever since I first picked it up.

I’ve always been a huge introvert, and I don’t think that’ll ever change. But I’m not a full-on hermit anymore. So much social anxiety and self-loathing is slowly dissipating, and it is such a gratifying feeling for someone who was practically crippled by it for most of her life.

Life really is worth living once you grab it by the nuts lmao

In a diary entry from February of this year, I wrote this:

I have to live my own life, become my own twisted definition of normal. That’s the only way I can see myself being content with life. I don’t think I’ll ever be happy, I think I’m too broken for that, but I can see myself being content.

I was wrong. I’m really happy right now. I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt like this
