Poppy: shes long gotten over her fear of her parents. She’s happy and thats all that matters, she’ll happily tell off her parents like a GIRLBOSS YEAAAHHH happily explain how she escaped the cult they sent her too and how happy she is rn

Julie: uhm.. Julie’s parents are dead. Next question. Lmao ok but fr if she like.. came back to life she’d be so happy :3 she, and all the other joyfuls, were raised by a single mom and Julie got all her “men are trash, defend urself, never be afraid to punch a man” type ideology from her mom and her mom was super accepting and she misses herrr :((

Sally: now you may think Sally has a terrible relationship with her parents.. but she doesnt :3 shes unable to see her mom (for agoraphobic, mental health, and also legal reasons) but she loves her a lot. Her mom did sort of raise her in shitty conditions, but Sally doesn’t blame her at all and misses her a lottt wah

Barnaby: ooohh no… so uuh lore for those that dont know, Barnaby’s parents gave him up to the “”””boarding school”””” when he was four and he doesnt remember them. He’d probably be happier then he should to meet them, but most definitely get gaslit by his parents :( like they have what Barnaby thinks is a normal conversation but really isnt.. someone stop it q-p

I’m surprised it took this long to ask, but how does Andou react to and interact with Tamayo and Yushiro?

Oh, she'd very much be surprised at first, but she remembers that they're non hostiles, so she'd let her guard down...just a bit - she's still unlearning a lot of things after living in Yoshiwara for the first eight years of her life. She's not that sociable around strangers, to the point that you'd likely getting her hissing at Rengoku if he so much as greets her.

it pretty much goes from those who are okay: hostess, kamuro, shinzou, oiran,

not okay: everyone fucking else - especially if they're older men.

Himejima was an outlier who should not be counted, which is what makes his situation funny since this tiny kid just latched onto his leg and refused to let go.

Tamayo would be the easiest of the bunch to interact, while Yushiro...lmao, fuckin' rip, she'd rather hide behind Tamayo (assuming they meet when she's still a young child - it could happen, considering Ubuyashiki made a comment about her to Tanjirou, so who fucking knows how long they've known about each other)

(speaking of Ubuyashiki, my man is like 15 when Himejima picks up Andou - dude already has baby twin daughters BIIIITCH and it's not that long after, that his son will be born HOLY FUCK)

(off topic, but this reminds me of my fuck up with Naruto while writing an SI OC fic for it, where a misread on the wiki made me put Kurenai's father having been 14 when she was born, SO GUESS WHO WAS 14 WHEN HE BECAME A FATHER?!?! THIS DYING YOUNG MAN WHO SHOULD'VE BEEN ENJOYING LIFE INSTEAD OF GROWING UP SO FAST. I feel like repurposing Andou from a Naruto OC to Kimetsu no Yaiba was meant to be lmaoooo. It just feels like I've come full circle again)

ANYWAYS, Andou would probably warm up to Tamayo the fastest. Very easy for her to trust the nice doctor lady who hates Muzan. Yushiro is on thin ice - heck off.

If we have teenaged Andou, she'd be a bit hesitant towards Tamayo, before settling down easily after seeing her scold Yushiro, so she's all "Ah, safe."

(it's one thing knowing Tamayo is nice, it's another thing trying to convince herself of that, seeing as she's still on edge around most demons, thanks to Douma)

Probs the biggest turning point for her to get used to Nezuko. Which she MIGHT AS WELL, because Nezuko keeps clinging to her.

(starting to wonder if Nezuko just feels safest around her because of her eyes, since Nezuko's mama had purple eyes too)

As a reminder, Andou is based off the aspect of myself that like...barely remembers the first four-ish anime episodes that they watched with their gf on rabb.it when it was still up, and the volumes of manga they NYOOMED through after a chemistry exam.

Everything else is based off what she vaguely remembers seeing pop up on her tumblr dashboard, so lmao. Let's see how much of that helps out ahahha.

i actually only got into larry this march(!) when HSLOT had already begun. i randomly stumbled across harry's version of girl crush on youtube/some of the gay stuff and was like "um WHAT" because i had just assumed he was straight before (regrettably, his womanizer marketing worked on me and i kinda assumed he was a sexist jerk). i then watched FIMQ videos and was SHOOK. i kept having to pause the video to be like "biiiitch". after i saw the bears and tattoos, i was all in and made a tumblr.

I was going to ask how you felt about that (re: Bakugou’s mom) but I punked out and I was afraid you were going to agree with that (and I didn’t know if you were up to date or not) But the thing about it is that Hori doesn’t want us to see his mom in that way. They’re treating bnha like itms the real world. Obviously in REAL LIFE she would be abusive but it’s a manga written by a guy with only his cultural understanding of abuse which his mom doesn’t fit in according to Hori’s standards.

anyways listen i’m so irritated abt this bc the metas are actually becoming ABUNDANT. like i was even on twitter — my twitter isn’t fandom-centric like my tumblr but i follow a few fandom accounts— and i kept seeing tweet threads abt how horrible mitsuki is and i’m just like ????? do you guys even fucking know how this stuff works??? lmaoooo like you said bnha is not real world!! obviously real life parents replicating the same behavior as mitsuki would be rightfully labeled abusive, but we literally are not talking in real world context? bnha clearly wants us to be able to differentiate from “appropriate” physical correction (in parentheses, bc like i said: in the real world we understand that there is no correct way to hit a child; it’s abuse, period) and physical abuse.

we’re literally introduced to mitsuki and she’s a “tough love” type of parental figure. she clearly cares for her son and loves him and uses LIMITED (we’ve literally only seen mitsuki touch bakugou like… twice?) physical correction. compared to like… Endeavor, who is established as a manipulative narcissist who doesn’t see his children as people but as objects to have and to use as he pleases. these are two waaaaaay different depictions and Horikoshi uses these differences to help the reader establish what is and is not okay in HIS WORLD that HE HAS CREATED (BNHA). the times we’ve seen Bakugou get playfully slapped around (playfully—bc these scenes are played for laughs/giggles, they aren’t heart-wrenching scenes) he’s not even hurt? he’s still able to talk back and brush it off. unlike Todoroki who we’ve seen be physically (and mentally) debilitated by his father’s abuse.

to be able to label mitsuki as an abuser WITHIN THE NARRATIVE you literally have to willfully ignore the painstakingly obvious differences btw Bakugou and Todoroki’s home lives and personal story lines/narratives. you literally have to throw away any literary context and understanding of bnha’s world to be able to do that. there is no way to label mitsuki as an abuser WITHIN THE NARRATIVE without totally ignoring the way Horikoshi has set up the social and political atmosphere within his story.

and this is what ppl don’t understand. you can recognize that within bnha’s limited narrative lens mitsuki is NOT an abuser while still criticizing the problematic nature of depicting some forms of parental violence as “okay.” that is totally valid because i agree: while mitsuki is a shown to be a loving parent w a “tough love” approach, the reality of the situation (the REAL WORLD CONTEXT AND IMPLICATION) is that there is no correct way to physically discipline children. there are studies that show physical discipline, at any level, negatively impacts self-esteem and leads to higher rates of mental illness. so realizing that and talking about that IS FINE!! i’m not saying that bnha is above critique. i’m DEFINITELY not saying that. BUT you can talk abt that w.o being willfully obtuse and totally ignoring the narrative direction of the story.

like…… i’m so confused how ppl don’t grasp this? and tbh i’d be more understanding of these “mitsuki sucks!!” metas if they were coming from minors/high-schoolers but i’ve seen so many from grown ass people who should know better? like… come on, sis.
