'How can Hindi unite TN and Kerala?,' asks Udhayanidhi Stalin in response to Amit Shah's 'Hindi unites' comment 

Amit Shah should stop relegating non-Hindi languages to the status of provincial languages and insulting them, Udhayanidhi said in Tamil on X and added the hashtag #StopHindiImposition.

CHENNAI: Slamming Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remark that “Hindi unites”, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday said it is “absurd” to claim that Hindi, spoken in just four to five states, unites the entire Indian union.

Udhayanidhi said the union minister has as usual shown his love for Hindi by commenting that only “Hindi unites people and empowers regional languages.”

“This view is only an alternative form of a clamour for Hindi; that if it is learnt, a person can develop,” the Minister said in Tamil on social media platform X.

“In Tamil Nadu it is Tamil, and Malayalam is the language in neighbouring Kerala. How is Hindi uniting these two states? How it is empowering?” he asked.

Further, he said: “It is absurd to say that Hindi, spoken in four to five states, is uniting the whole of the Indian Union.”

The Union Home Minister on Thursday said that Hindi unites the diverse languages in India and it has honoured different Indian as well as global languages and dialects.

In a message on the occasion of ‘Hindi Diwas’, Shah said Hindi has never competed nor would compete with any other Indian language and that a strong country would emerge only by strengthening all its languages.

The home minister expressed confidence that Hindi would become a medium to empower all the local languages.

Sanatana Dharma row: FIR registered against Udhayanidhi Stalin in Mumbai

DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin recently blamed Sanatan Dharma for promoting division and discrimination among people and said it should be eradicated.

THANE: The Mira Road police here have registered an FIR against Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin following a complaint over his remarks on Sanatan Dharma, an official said on Wednesday.

DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin recently blamed Sanatan Dharma for promoting division and discrimination among people and said it should be eradicated.

Based on the complaint by a local resident, the Mira Road police on Tuesday night registered the FIR against Stalin under Indian Penal Code Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc), the official said.

The complainant claimed that Stalin’s remarks have hurt the sentiments and religious feelings of those follow the Sanatan Dharma, as per the FIR.

Police Case Against MK Stalin's Son In UP Over 'Sanatana Dharma' Remark

Udhayanidhi Stalin was booked for his call to eradicate Sanatan Dharma and Kharge for backing his remark, they said.

Rampur: An FIR was registered here against DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Priyank Kharge for allegedly outraging religious feelings, police said on Wednesday.

Udhayanidhi Stalin was booked for his call to eradicate Sanatana Dharma and Kharge for backing his remark, they said.

The two were booked under sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts to outrage religious feelings) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different religious groups) of the IPC at Civil Lines Police Station here on Tuesday.

The FIR came at the complaint of lawyers Harsh Gupta and Ram Singh Lodhi who highlighted media reports on Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement alleging that the politician’s comments had hurt their feelings.

He had on Saturday during an event in Tamil Nadu compared the Sanatan Dharma with diseases like dengue and malaria.

His comments sparked a backlash from political parties, with BJP insisting on the Congress to condemn his remarks.
