「海上に浮かぶ光」海ほたるパーキングエリア（うみほたるパーキングエリア、英称：Umihotaru PA）

海ほたるパーキングエリア（うみほたるパーキングエリア、英称：Umihotaru PA）は、千葉県木更津市中島地先海ほたる（東京湾アクアライン）上にあるパーキングエリア。愛称は海ほたる。パーキングエリアではあるが、店舗の設備はサービスエリア並みである[1]。東日本高速道路が管理する木更津人工島に位置する。展望デッキやモニュメント、幸せの鐘、うみめがね～アクアラインシアター～、ご当地グルメなど観光スポットとなっている。日本夜景遺産に指定されている。

名前の由来は、一般公募したところ「海上に浮かぶ光」ということで「海ほたる」となり、同名の生物をキャラクターとして使うことになったものである。今日ではパーキングエリアの名称から転じ、人工島自体を「海ほたる」と呼ぶ場合がある。

We took a chance on a final destination for our last night in Japan, there’s a parking area which is basically in the middle of the ocean called Umihotaru and the tunnel leading to it is the iconic 300KMPH tunnel from many of the old videos on Youtube. It was 1am and as we rolled into the parking area, we were greeted to a selection of old timers in cars in a setting the first fast and the furious, except these were the real deal, the outlandish machines from the early millennium, somehow still intact, out for a high speed run on a Saturday night… link in bio #Umihotaru #juiceboxforyou (at 活き活き家 海ほたるPA店)
