TOP 10 MOST KISSABLE FACES OF JORVIK
(by crystal-tit)
(inspired by the journalists at ClickHole and The Onion)
WARNING: Most of this is a joke. And also I'd like to apologise.
10. Ms. Drake
She's a Ms. now but I could make her my Mrs. She's such a #girlboss and we love that for her! Who cares if she ruins the eco system of Jorvik, all that is important is that she's absolutely SLAYING! 🏭
9. Avalon
If there's one thing that the ladies/men love, it's mystery. And what's more mysterious than covering your entire face with a hood? "Oh my, I can't see any of that man's face!" they'll exclaim. "He must have a terrible secret I will uncover with my love."
8. Rowan
There's nothing sexier than an Australian accent. 🇭🇲 They could take you back to the land down under and you could watch them wrestle a kangaroo... 🦘 So romantic...
7. Ydris
He's so smooth. Like a water bottle. Imagine a water bottle. Now imagine Ydris. So similar yet so different... Plus there's like two (or more) tentacles in there so that's a plus. 🐙
6. Justin
Who wouldn't want to kiss a man who hasn't felt the touch of a woman for years (unless horses 🐴 count as women)(or lasagne)(I mean... horses could count as women because mares but lasagne? Hmmm...) We all have to agree he got the good genes from his grandfather! 👴
5. Sigry
Rania's mom has seriously got it going on! 👀 It would be a lie if we said we never thought of what it would be like being Dr. Eiren. She's yet another #girlboss who got on this list!
4. Erik
Hardworking lawyer and great father! Total catch and a #DILF! His eyebags make his eyes shine like stars on the night sky. 😍 I bet he could get me off the wanted list in a whim. 🤭
3. Galloper Thompson
I know the title says faces but Gunnar has got to be one of the most irresistible men out there 🤭 It's a big achievement that he looks so kissable without a face!
2. The Vala Witch
So mysterious... So pretty... So blue... So blue. So blue like blue ice slush. Do you think she tastes like ice slush? Drop your theories in the comments down below 😊👇
1. Garnok

The Trees are part of the Squid's Plan! (major main quest spoilers)
After spending way too long playing through the new quests in SSO, I've come up with a theory. A real long theory. That the Life Wardens are siding with both Dark Riders and Soul Riders in order to repair the Wild Weave and reconnect with one another, inadvertently helping the Dark Riders to free Garnok.
Lemme explain.
Tumblr media
This is the map in the Fort Maria portal room. It shows the seven major Life Wardens that we know of, but it also gives us some clues about the story going forwards.
First, the obvious.
Tumblr media
Yeah, there's no way that little illustration in the corner is anything but Ol' Squiddy's Tentacles. But we knew he was imprisoned between worlds, in neither Pandoria nor Jorvik - so finding out he's been chilling in the Wild Weave, or a location only accessible by it, makes sense.
Tumblr media
Next, when it comes to putting a name to each of these trees I think most are fairly self explanatory. We've known about most of these trees for years, even if they've never been a part of the story, such as with the Ice Tree by the Stonecutter's Vault in Dino Valley, and the Unnamed Tree way up near where you finish the Red String Trail in the Firgrove Mountains.
Where it gets interesting is with the two trees I couldn't place; such as the one between the Sentinel Tree in Mistfall and the Ice Tree in Dino Valley; and the one on the far left, signified by floating islands.
In my mind it makes sense to have a couple of the trees sprouting in Pandoria, since the two worlds are connected by the tree roots - and the only floating rocks I know about are in Pandoria - but who knows.
Tumblr media
Overlaying the normal map on top of these locations makes it pretty clear that they're supposed to correspond to real map locations. The only anomaly is the Ice Tree and Sentinel Tree, whose positions are reversed on the portal map.
What's interesting is that Garnok, if I'm following the map's logic correctly, would hold exactly the same positioning as the Dark Core Oil Rig.
(For context, we know the Rig's position from old skybox errors that used to show it when stood in the right spots, some maps from the books (which I know aren't always canon anymore, but hey it's the best we've got) and, most recently, if the player looks South when entering Devil's Gap, thanks to that little black hole we helped Sunshine open up recently.)
Tumblr media
Where am I going with all this? Okay!
Firstly, we know that the trees have helped the Dark Riders in the past. The Life Wardens have repeatedly said the only loyalty they have is to each other, and quite frankly after what the Jarl did, who can blame them. (Thanks Jon).
This is going into massive spoiler territory for the most recent quest as of 17/1/24 so if you haven't completed it yet, flee.
Tumblr media
The Sentinel Tree in the Wildwoods has been corrupted by Pandorian magic for a while now. But in the newest quest, we saw Sabine using the Runesmasher to break into it and create a portal to free Erissa.
Side tangent about the hammer:
Tumblr media
For those who didn't play the Halloween quests, basically one of the Jarl's servants got the ice valley smith to make a hammer that could destroy runestones, broke one open, and a Vala witch gave him immortality. Aka. Sive (or an identical Vala witch), who is deeply connected with the Life Wardens and who probably gave Sabine the hammer when we saw her in Devil's Gap, has no problem with this action.
The Life Wardens, or at the very least Sive, their ally, wanted the portal opened and Erissa freed.
Why?
To re-grow the Wild Weave.
Tumblr media
Assuming Garnok's position on my map was correct, the only way the Dark Riders now have to free him is to go directly through the Wild Weave.
And since we're good people who like nature... yeahhh the Soul Riders are totally going to end up healing some trees and inadvertently opening the path to Garnok wide open.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah. We're going to mess up royally.

Antlers - Fourth Dread Trove
I have theories connecting elain to völvas in Norse Mythology. You can read them here: Völuspa , Seidr-Swan Lake
So I was looking at völva arts again and one thing draw my attention. The Antlers (ngl staff too bc I want elain to have a staff so bad)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is interesting because Elain is always connected to deer/fawn imaginery. So völvas having antlers headpiece is pretty interesting connection.
völva is connected with shamanism.
In Germanic paganism, a seeress is a woman said to have the ability to foretell future events and perform sorcery. They are also referred to with many other names meaning "prophetess", "staff bearer", "wise woman" and "sorceress", and they are frequently called witches or priestesses both in early sources and in modern scholarship. In Norse mythology the seeress is usually referred to as völva or vala. Seeresses were an expression of the pre Christian shamanic traditions of Europe, and they held an authoritative position in Germanic society.
and shamans wear
A shaman wears regalia, some part of which usually imitates an animal—most often a deer, a bird, or a bear. It may include a headdress made of antlers or a band into which feathers of birds have been pierced. The footwear is also symbolic—iron deer hooves, birds’ claws, or bears’ paws.
I also found this
Deer antler headdresses or antler caps were modified deer skulls, including the antlers that were used as a headdress. They are often believed to be the oldest traces of shamanic and religious behavior. These headdresses were used as a disguise during the hunt or as part of the shamanic dress.
so with all of this...and the fact that the fourth dread trove was an age worn bone. it is interesting that it was on an altar too. Altars are important in religious rituals.
A fourth object lay on the altar, veiled in shadow. But she couldn’t make out more than a gleam of age-worn bone—
Could the fourth dread trove be an antler headdress?

I ended up in a discussion with a friend about OC/Canon children and ended up writing enough that I figured it was worth posting lol.
Valerius & Camellia —
Princess Mirela Daciana Camelia Dragavei (she/her, born 15 Rova 4725 AR, dhampir) – the youngest of Prince Valerius and Lady Camellia; she transitioned in her teenaged years. Quiet and unsettling, Mirela much prefers studying the properties of her family’s blood and anatomy to politics and religion; she is more than content to leave those responsibilities to her father and sister, and could often be found in the labs in the depths of the old ziggurat. Cruromancer wizard /  vivisectionist alchemist mix.
Princess Violeta Valeria Andrada Dragavei (she/her, born 15 Rova 4725 AR, dhampir) – the eldest and heir of Prince Valerius and Lady Camellia by scant minutes and she never fails to remind her sister Mirela of it.  Spoiled and hot-tempered, demanding, and she absolutely let being the heir get to her head. Still, she has a soft spot for her twin and her father, but has a very strained relationship with her mother as a result of being a shaman. Bones Shaman.
Magni Aeducan —
Ser Gorim Magni Aeducan (he/him, born 9:30 Dragon, mother: Mardy) – conceived on the last night that Magni Aeducan was a Prince with their favoured noble hunter Mardy, by the time Gorim was born, his noble parent was an exiled kinslayer, sentenced to walk the Deep Roads. By the time Magni learned of Gorim’s birth upon their return to Orzammar, they arranged for Bhelen to sponsor the child on their behalf. No Aeducan child would be left in the gutter. Gorim grew up with a distant parent who often preferred to remain topside, but idolised them anyway – wanting to be a hero too. Named after their parent’s second and now Seneschal of House Magni, Gorim - “the most honourable dwarf [Magni] knew”
Kieran (he/him, born 9:31 Dragon, mother: Morrigan) – Magni’s tempestuous affair with the Witch of the Wilds was always going to end in heartbreak. Though they broke off the relationship after negotiating an engagement with Queen Anora of Ferelden, Magni and Morrigan spent one last night together, conceiving Kieran in a ritual. After the final battle, Morrigan disappeared to raise their child on her own. Kieran has only met his father a handful of times and both parents prefer to keep it that way so Kieran does not get caught up in Fereldan, Orlesian or Orzammar politics.
Princess Amgarra Aeducan Mac Tir (she/her, born 9:43, mother: Anora) – often referred to as a little miracle, Amgarra was an unexpected surprise for Queen Anora and her consort. With Anora in her 40s, the rarity of half-dwarves and the taint inside Magni, it should not have been possible. But still, it happened, after 13 years of marriage and Magni having found a cure for the Darkspawn corruption inside them.  Amgarra comes from the dwarven word amgarrak, or ‘victory.’ She very much favours her grandfathers Endrin and Loghain in different ways: the classic Mac Tir nose and piercing eyes and the famous wiles of the late King Endrin. When she is of age, no doubt she will be a strong successor to Queen Anora – and a frightening prospect to Orzammar, as she has blood claims to both countries.
Ser Valdan Magni Aeducan (he/him, born 9:32 Dragon, mother: Mardy) – the second son born by Mardy. After the events of Awakening and Amaranthine had burned to the ground, Magni was advised to take a ‘diplomatic leave’ from the Fereldan court and his post as Commander of the Grey, and returned to Orzammar for a year, during which Valdan was conceived. Similarly to Gorim, he grew up with not much contact with his topside parent, but unlike Gorim, he resented his father for it.
Byron & Viconia —
Vala DeVir (she/her, date of birth unknown) – the only child of the Bhaalspawn Byron and the Sharran drow Viconia DeVir, Vala grew up sequestered in the cloisters of a Sharran temple alongside her parents. However, her relationship with her parents – especially her mother – grew strained the older she got and the more she longed to have a life outside of the temple. Against her mother’s wishes, but with her father’s blessing, she set out on her own the night she became of age – becoming an explorer of the Underdark and gaining a trusty giant spider as her companion. She never returned to her parents until her father was on his deathbed, and by the time she arrived, he’d already passed away in his sleep. Gloomstalker ranger.
Leto & Cassia —
Lady Cassandra Visteria van Mynaard von Valancius af Dargonus (she/her, date of birth unknown)  – the only child and heir of Rogue Trader Leto van Mynaard von Valancius, born via surrogacy with a member of House Werserian after it became apparent that Lady Cassia was unable to bear a living child due to her Navigator genes. She was allowed to have a proper childhood at the insistence of Cassia, who never got to have one – and it was only when she hit her teen years that Cassandra’s education in the von Valancius dynasty began in earnest. After Cassia left the public eye and retired to Janus following her mutations becoming more grotesque, Cassandra was devastated by her mother’s absence and her grief was compounded by her father’s increasingly apparent madness from his diviner abilities. She comes to rely heavily on her great-grandfather Abelard after she is forced to take up the mantle of Rogue Trader too young.

What do you think about the main story ending after playing the game for so long?
The story isn't ending. That's not like a denial response, the story isn't ending. That would be an incredibly poor financial decision on SSE's part.
Look, maybe it is. Maybe SSE is aiming to wrap up SSO and shut down the servers on the end of the story arc. We don't know the pace of "Beginning of the End" coming out, it may give SSO three more years to finish telling the one story they wanted to tell. But on account of SSE finally redesigning early gameplay, it makes very little sense to overhaul all of SSO's gameplay and then shut it down shortly after. That kind of change should set SSO up for many more years to come. But I don't see ending the story and making SSO a social hub kind of MMO really being good for retention. I'm sure there are some, but if the story ends completely, then a chunk of folks are going to get caught up and stop coming back. And when those folks start to dwindle, so will other groups of folks because there are less and less people online.
What is happening is the end of the Garnok arc, which I've already said, needs to happen. This story has been being told since 2005, almost two decades at this point. It needs to end so the story can stop getting written into a corner, particularly when it comes to introducing new NPCs. And after Garnok gets defeated, SSE is open to telling all kinds of stories and introduce new characters, just some of which being:
What's up with the witches and their coven politics? How do they feel about the Vala? Are there more Vala? Is their magic affected in any way by not having access to Garnok or Pandoria?
If the Soul Riders and druids lose their powers after the Garnok fight because the connection with Pandoria is severed as Ydris said had to happen in the quests, how are they going to handle new threats? How does not having their powers affect the Soul Riders as people?
What does happen to Pandoria after Garnok is gone? Defeating Garnok doesn't remove all of DC or the damage they did, so what happens after?
What happens between the druids and DC afterwards? Like in actual politics, there are massive explosions going on in the modern era, someone is going to report that. There are going to be legal battles for both sides, how do those play out?
Most recent story snack has introduced morally gray trees, what are they going to do when the connection between Jorvik and Pandoria is severed? Do they still have access through the Brambletween or do they need to seek out new worlds? Can they survive without a source of magic to sustain them?
We're only seen 1/4 of the island of Jorvik, that's 3 more massive zones to be added (I will circle back to this one).
Half a dozen other portals we don't know where they go to like the Doors and the Icendell portal, not to mention other worlds like the Cloud Kingdom and wherever the Caprans are from. And anything else the Between or Brambletween is connected to, all possibilities to explore.
The politics thing again, DC getting overthrown leaves a massive power vacuum, assets, and probably some of the generals behind. SSE can handwave killing goons all they want, but I doubt they'll have the PC kill any of the generals, so what happens to them after? Do they die when Garnok dies? Who tries to step in to fill the void? Sure there's no Garnok, but there are all of the resources DC had and bound to be another world full of magic that can be manipulated. If it's just power they're after, I'm sure whatever rainy day magic DC had could still give someone quite a bit of that for a while to come.
Ok, but what does happen to Jorvik when the connection with magic gets severed? There is so much magic infrastructure built into the island now, what happens when it fails? What parts of it are native to Jorvik at this point? Do those things start dying? Does Jorvik establish its own source of magic? Does it bring back Aideen? Does it fully cut Jorvik off from Aideen? That could hypothetically kill the magic horses, and I don't think SSE would let that canon happen, so where is that new magic?
What happens to the MC after? Like do they lose their magic? Like, congrats, you got dragged into this quest after coming here for summer camp, like 3 months later you've got no magic and trauma. One of those I don't see SSE tackling, but where I can see the Soul Riders retiring or being more cyclable characters in the story, the MC has to be in the story. So what happens to them after? How do they reestablish themselves as important when their chosen one task is complete?
Secret other option, there's so much lore, I'm sure y'all can find another thing from the new lore that I don't remember.
I think the most set up story arc after the Garnok arc would be to start the Witch Wars arc. We know witches don't get their magic from Pandoria, so following the defeat of Garnok and the loss of Pandoria's magic, it makes the most sense for the druids to try and take some pointers from Mrs. Holdsworth. Which opens up the politics in the fallout of the druids vs DC battle and the sudden shift in magic between covens. And with the Vala making a very big play in the end of the Garnok arc, I'm sure there are some other witches with some feelings. Established NPCs there to introduce us to new NPCs, follows through on questions left over from the previous arc, lots of potential for new gameplay. That also sets up perfectly for a new 1/4 of the map, the northwest corner, as we know the shadow witches are in Northern Jorvik, and the fallout with DC very reasonably could take us to Pine Hill Mansion to make sure there aren't anymore loose ends/contingency plans Sands has set up.
I think also that folks should start working through the idea that the quarters of the map will be locked behind a paywall, like an expansion. There are plenty of buy to play MMOs who have this model, and I think realistically, it's one SSO will follow. Also following other MMOs, $20-$30 USD for several years of expansion is well within a reasonable ask in my opinion. It's not a microtransaction, it's a permanent add on, and I think holds way more value than what that amount of SC can get you in game currently.
But yeah. It would be a very poor financial decision to keep SSO going and not continue the story, and I think SSO is making too much money to not continue keeping the game going, so that would need a new story. There's going to be a new main arc, some archthreat comparable to Garnok, and a new way of looking at magic, which would time perfectly with SSE's promises of letting us use magic more actively. Start a new magic system, don't worry about adapting over the original one into mechanics.
