Vittoria Arya-Giordano had devoted her life to the Project at Eden's Gate. Everything she did she did in the name of The Father. This is an excerpt from the latest chapter of Descent I’m working on so spoilers ahead(?):

The air was still, heavy - a lumbering silence only interrupted by the sound of the buzzing of blades rotating through the air. Mai stared up into the vast opening of the arena as the helicopter descended like the Holy Ghost. All her senses were actively processing numerous events around her. Mai felt the dull, painful sting of staring up into the overcast sky, watching the silhouette of La Grosse Patate grow increasingly larger as it approached almost in slow motion, a inkling of a smile pulling at her lips knowing Dove and Malik were safely encased inside. She could taste and smell the familiar scent of imminent rain - hanging onto every inhale she took, breathing into her a sense of relief that this nightmare was about to be washed away.

Mai took the moment of peace to look to her allies. Her family. Her love. They abandoned their safety net near the arena walls as they closed the space between themselves and Mai, walking towards the middle of the arena floor. Her Aunt Vittoria made it a few steps before having to stop and arch her back inward, her large belly pressing out to the sky as though the baby inside her wanted to feel the same relief of the incoming rain. Thomas stayed by her side, offering a hand to squeeze. His eyes met Mai’s, each one nodding in acknowledgement that their moment would have to wait just a minuscule of a moment longer. That was perfectly fine, because Mai was relieved to see her mother Nayeli pressing onward, her steps speeding up until she was in the same gravitational pull as her daughter.

Mai threw her arms out, snaking around Nayeli’s tiny form as they simply stood, existing in one another’s orbit. For so long she had felt her mother had been out of reach, and perhaps she could say the feeling was mutual. Losing Jacob had torn their family asunder. Each one of them having their own reason to mourn him - but at the same time, nearly identical in nature. Nayeli, Mai, Malik...each one of them had lost out on precious time spent with the man who many would remember as a villain in someone else’s story. But for the Lamb and Seed family, he was a soul looking to redeem the sins of his family and himself. He wanted a family to call his own and to love and to cherish. For however short it was, Mai was simply glad she got to call him father, and that she got to experience that love alongside her mother and brother.

Describing my OC’s ships in a nutshell

Everything counts! could have beens, hook ups, bada bing bada boom - here we gooooo

Nayeli and Jacob: Local man listens to one song on repeat for ten years. Tortures future wife’s allies and friends. Surprisingly they all still invite him to the celebratory BBQ after Eden’s Gate is defeated. Become the mom and dad you see in an indie movie.

Nayeli and Sharky: pining turned one night stand at it’s finest. too bad five min later that same girl you just slept with is out banging a wild mountain man out in the woods. that awkward moment when your fling and husband become best friends and they both know about the other.

Nayeli and Joseph: alexa, play despacito. you coulda had a family joseph - if you weren’t so fucking fucked up.

Nayeli and John: non con. No love here.

Vittoria and John: two dumbasses trying to out toxic the other one. have made it an Olympic sport to see who can piss the other one off the fastest. never invited to parties because of their volatile nature but always show up anyway.

Vittoria and Joseph: imagine the see saw level from fall guys. that’s how balanced this relationship is.

Vittoria and Sharky: no one knows how a pyromaniac/repeat offender got the attention of a literal death goddess but they seem to be doing pretty fantastic. will sing at your wedding together whether you like it or not.

Mai and Thomas: teenage girl sets eyes upon blue eyed angel with a mustache and refuses to ever love anyone if it ain’t him. Girl grows into an Amazonian and Rush becomes Far Cry’s version of Steve Trevor. This one has a happy ending tho.

Mai and Carmina: typical “this is a good idea” and then something (Thomas) busts through your window and you change your entire life around

Mai and Dove: Last minute thought that you’re angry you couldn’t incorporate. singing rolling in the deep in the background. Mai and Ethan: Local apple boi falls for girl who he later finds out is his cousin. New world order, still wants to marry her. Girl replies by impaling him with a giant rock.

Mai and Selene: one-night stand. one-sided. mai be angsting after her mustached man. doesn’t help she has no idea what Selene is saying half the time.

Dove and Roger: Two nerds bond over their shared interests and love of sweets. Wholesome except for the part where your eventual girlfriend betrays you and your friends to her cousins who nearly massacre everyone. Makes up for it tho? Stereotypical couple who likes to travel.

Raven and Buck: two horrible people brought together by their mutual love for torturing others. little to no fucks about what happens to the other.

Dani and Anton: basically just hot girl bummer on repeat? But girl likes her sugar daddy a LOT. And here we sprinkle a dash of manipulation. daily interventions from her friends telling her why her boo sucks.

Dani and whatever NPC we decide to replace Anton with cause she need da booty: live happily ever after
