does sasuke prefer to be the captain of his team or a follower?

He doesn't mind being a captain if he has to, or a follower if he respects the captain's strength.

Sasuke is a practical person who is good at teamwork, despite all misconceptions about him. Since his genin days he was much better than Sak and Nar at it, and he was ok following Kakashi's orders. His priority was the mission after all, not shining as the best or impressing someone else, like his teammates.

After he leaves Konoha it's the same, his priority is his own mission. So he forms the team he needs and leads it, because thinking practically, it's his own mission and his new comrades are helping him. And he's a good leader, protecting them.

When he meets Edo Tensei Itachi he follows his lead completely and immediately, it's just natural for him to follow his stronger and older brother, as he would have wanted when he was a child.

When he joins the battlefield he has his own stategy but he follows Nar*to's because the latter claims he has a better idea or smth, and he respects his strength.

So you can see how he's totally ok being a follower if the person he follows is strong enough and he respects them. He leads if he has to, if no one is doing what he thinks must be done.

I mentioned this here but I like Juusasu so much so I’ll say it again...yes, it’s criminally underrated. I don’t understand why the fandom ignores Team Taka in general actually, because all of them have great potential with each other.

Juusasu has everything.

It has very strong feelings, because Sasuke freed Juugo even knowing how dangerous he was, he ignored how Juugo attacked him, he gave him strength to trust not only him but himself, kind of, cause Juugo wanted to be locked in fearing he would hurt people but Sasuke told him he’d be his cage, that he’d protect him by becoming his cage if he got berserk. That he wouldn’t let anything bad happen. And Juugo becomes fiercely loyal to Sasuke, like he was to Kimimaro.

All this is also very cute and ‘wholesome’, because like I said Juugo is loyal to Sasuke, he protects him, he follows him, he cares for him, he tends to him when he’s not ok. And Sasuke does the same in his own way. Not to mention Sasuke asked Juugo, like he asked the others, if he wanted to help him in his quest for Itachi. And they mutually trust each other very much, Sasuke too, even though kishi eventually dropped their relationship to highlight only the one with the main character because ofc lol

It has angst, because Sasuke lost everyone and he’s looking for revenge, he’s desperate and lost even though he tries hard to have everything under control and he plans and trains and acts more, and every time the world crumbled on him with new pieces of truth and he’s more and more desperate, but Team Taka, and Juugo, are on his side. And Juugo is a lost soul too, he had only Kimimaro and when he died he became even more lost, he was ready to live his whole life in prison, until Sasuke saved him.

It has hot potential, not only because Juugo is always shirtless lol and Sasuke is often shirtless, but also because they have moments like the screenshot, where Juugo tends to Sasuke’s wounds, obviously touching him, or when Juugo goes berserk and Sasuke calms him when he gets close to him, or when, the moment Sasuke freed him, Juugo attached him, pinning him to the wall (even though the scene was not as hot as other pinned-to-the-wall scenes unfortunately)

It has darkfic potential, because Sasuke promised to be his cage which is wow, very ambiguous in this context, and very hot. It’s like, promising to be the one who’ll take all his darkness, all his violence and everything, upon himself. And my dark headcanon about them is that Juugo has those crazy moments more often than canon shows (also because we don’t see many moments of them) and sometimes he has them when they’re alone, or the others just know they have to leave them alone, and when they happen he does things but he doesn’t remember after, he only sees marks on Sasuke (or he sees Sasuke feeling weak and moving painfully after) and then he feels guilty but Sasuke tells him that it’s ok, because he too feels guilty but for having ‘killed’ Itachi, so he kind of wants to atone, in a way. this kind of stuff.

Ok I’m drunk so go easy if this is anon (I don’t know if I’m logged in on my phone or not) if you don’t support a Sas that stays out of Konica canonically, who do you he he ends up with? And how?

I mean why you said I don’t support Sasuke out of Konoha? Cause that’s what I’d like for him. I'd just like Sasuke to travel with Team Taka because imo Juugo, Suigetsu and Karin are the best friends and comrades he can have. Team Taka is the best team. They were always there for him, they spoke their mind freely when they disagreed with him but they never judged him or try to change him, they always supported him no matter what. So I’d have wanted him to stay with them and travel, helping those in need because he always does it even though he doesn’t brag about it. Having Orochimaru as a mentor from a distance, kinda helping them if they get in bigger trouble, cause when they fought in the war it’s what he had done.

Who he ends up with is not the most important thing, I mean shipping is cool and I'm not like some pretentious fans who don't ship and kinda act morally superior, but for the ending it's not like you need an endgame pairing. In fact it's better to leave an open ending where anyone can imagine their favourite. With limits ofc. No canon pairings bullshit, no forced heterosexual pairings that only are there to make babies for new shitty generation. Nope.

But like I said here and here and here Team Taka pairings are cool and I’d like them, especially Suisasu and Juusasu. Heterosexual pairings are weak in Nar but Sasukarin would have been better than any other Sasuke het pairing (but Suikarin is cooler imo).

Was yours an ask about Sasuke staying in Konoha and choosing a pairing for him in that context?

I’d choose Kakashi, like I wrote here and here. Kakasasu is my first Nar ship and I love it very much despite every negative and controversial detail. A post ending KS would be cool.

Nar*sasu is kinda classic but if done in a way I like, which is not denying its dark sides and Nar’s possessive and imposing personality would be ok. My NS tag.

Not a request, just curious. Would you ever write more about Sasuke and Madara’s relationship? I love the idea of him being a mentor to Sasuke and love the dark take you had on it in your fic. I know you said you aren’t particularly interested in Itachi’s character anymore, is there a specific character you’d like to explore more?

I would, sure. And I’m glad you like my fic. I said it already so I’m repeating myself here, but the main reason I put it Somber Creation Pale Destruction (ff.net/ ao3) on hiatus was that I liked so much Madara and Sasuke being in their own world, literally, and the morbid-dark yet cosy atmosphere they were in, and since Itachi was supposed to appear as well, I kinda didn’t want lol.

Ofc I planned the whole plot, but still.

Tbh when I first had the idea of that fic I wanted to write the Madara/Sasuke relationship as secondary to Itachi/Sasuke, because I always liked the idea of Sasuke having Itachi as “one and only” in his heart (which imo is realistic for Sasuke, not necessarily in a shippy way), so that even if he got close to others, deep down there would always be Itachi, and I mean not necessarily in a romantic way.

Now I’d continue writing it, and I’d keep this Itachi thing, but I am very interested in exploring Sasuke’s interaction and relationships to other characters, because they’re less explored.

Yup I’m no longer interested in Itachi as a character, like I said already mostly because of the fandom and their stupid interpretation of his personality, either turning him into a meek martyr or accusing him of genocide and dismissing him, both aren’t interesting and don’t portray how controversial and interesting he used to be. But I did explore him and his relationship with Sasuke, in all its aspects. I still imagine Itasasu related things but yeah I would prefer to write something else instead. I’d never write Itachi and someone else anyway.

Other characters I’d like to explore?

Always interacting with Sasuke ofc, I am not interested otherwise. I kinda wrote it already in my writing page, and even more here.

Among all the characters I mentioned in the aforementioned ask I’d like to write more about:

Kakashi. I said it so many times but I love Kakashi and Sasuke interacting in any possible way. Kakasasu was my first ship and I have a lot of thoughts about them., despite the ending. I like Kakashi because he’s controversial, btw. If only I had motivation...my KS tag.

Suigetsu. imo they have a better dynamic than N*rusasu. More interesting. Sasuke respects Suigetsu and is totally comfortable with his quirks. Suigetsu provokes Sasuke to have his attention and respects him so much, he expressed it more times. And also, Suigetsu has a strong sadistic side, it’s canon. While Sasuke has a masochist side. Juugo. I wrote about how interesting I think their relationship is more times like here and here but the high esteem Sasuke holds for Juugo, and the loyalty, protectiveness and respect Juugo has for Sasuke imo are amazing. And the ‘I’ll be your cage’ Sasuke told him is darkfic material. And it’s canon. (juusasu tag)

Obito. His interaction and relationship with Sasuke were so interesting in canon, so ambiguous, so promising. Because they did spend time together, and they were both Uchiha. And Obito knew things but Sasuke didn’t. And Obito called Sasuke ‘fellow traitor’ before being taken over by Madara...I did start something I never finished about them tbh. (obisasu tag and meta)

Deidara. Not many realize that despite his loud/bragging attitude Deidara has a low self esteem and he looks up to Itachi whom he tried to impress. Like Sasuke, in a way. And both are reckless when it comes to not caring what happens to themselves. They are opposite but they also have these in common...And, aeshtetically, Deidara is blond, like N*ruto but hotter lol. I kinda like to imagine an Akatsuki AU where Sasuke is in a team with Itachi but also he has interactions with the other members and Deidara is basically his same age but he’s more experienced and they have some rivalry going on.

Shikamaru. I kinda think it would be interesting to put a clever and aloof lukewarm lazy guy whose loyalty towards Konoha is strong, close to an equally clever and aloof guy but very passionate inside, whose loyalty comes from his own feelings and thoughts and personal values instead. It has potential for good interactions, meaningful discussions and ambiguous moments since Shikamaru can control shadow and tie people up, and is very ruthless when he wants. Darkfic potential.

In that post I also mentioned Gaara, Sai and others so I won’t repeat myself more.

The only character not related to Sasuke is Tobirama. I disagree with his values and ideas but he’s interesting in his controversial way imo. Such a strict character yet so open minded when it came to develop forbidden jutsu, even defying death with Edo Tensei. So apparently domineering but so loyal to his older brother. I am kinda interested in some angsty dark scenario with Hashirama and I kinda had an idea I never developed.

Like I said here even tho I have less new ideas it’s not like I don’t have any, but I don’t have much motivation to write so I play my scenarios in my head.

Also, mostly, because I like darkfics but ppl like ‘wholesome’ and tbh I’ve had enough of fandom police shitting on my work just like I’ve had enough of judgemental condescendence like ‘you write well but your fics are too dark for me’.

(or being tagged in some gorey fics bc creeps like Hawk must be into all kinds of creepy things even tho I’ve always said I’m not into that specific stuff lol)

i never really understood why people ship itachi and shisui. i mean didn't shisui tell him to see him as an older brother? and we didn't see much of their relationship anyway so nothing about them seems romantic or sexual to me. and it wasn't the same as say narusasu where their whole relationship is layed out for us to see. i know shiita is not really your topic of interest but what do you think?

I’m not a big fan of Shiita cause I find it boring, but I can see why people ship them. First of all people ship characters for much less than the moments Itachi and Shisui have together in the anime (cause in the manga there’s pretty much nothing)...tbh I ship characters for interacting even less, for their potential or whatever. So I can’t judge shiita shippers, because like I wrote here and here, Shisui and Itachi share values and ideals, they spent a lot of time together and they trusted each other, even Itachi who never trusts anyone trusted Shisui, so it’s a lot.

About elements seemingly romantic or se/xual actually how many characters have se/xually charged moments? not many, and yet ppl ship them lol. Like me. Or heterosexual couples, they have no se/xually charged moment and yet...

Sometimes a good close combat fight is enough to suggest something se/xual that might happen/be imagined, sometimes a few words are. Sometimes you don’t need much to have a glimpse of how some characters’ relationships and dynamics are. Team Taka, for example, don’t have much screen time, but you can totally understand the bond between them. And if you want to see them as brotherly, ok, if you want to see more, there is space for it as well. That’s how shipping works.

What bothers me about Shiita is fanon, because some fandom headcanons became the norm, so (and I’m not referring to anyone in particular, don’t feel attacked. I just remember random things I saw online) there is kinda shy Itachi who enjoys to become a submissive bottom with Shisui (I mean there are controlling people/characters who like to be sub and this fan opinion makes sense, but now it’s the only one and I’d like to see more variety, because the opposite makes sense too), Shisui who’s a dork even tho he was one of the most feared Konoha shinobi and he was the one who influenced Itachi’s ideals, and Sasuke being the third weel, always jealous and possessive of Itachi even tho he was never like this in canon and he respected Shisui very much (in the anime he calls him Shisui-san when he was a child).

Another thing that bothers me is the ‘wholesome’ concept that now gets applied to that ship and from which a lot of ppl seem to judge those tho like different stuff in fictional pairings. Ofc wholesome is an option and it makes a lot of sense for them, but there can be more.

(also in the past I wrote a darkfic where there is shiita. needless to say it wasn’t received well in that fandom lol)

Since you mentioned NS I have the same problem with that fandom’s portrayal cause despite the many moments they have, and despite the ending, which highlighted how unhealthy and un-wholesome their relationship is, they misinterpret both characters and they reduce them in an ooc couple made of a grumpy selfish drama queen and a selfless ball of sunshine, and both are wrong because Sasuke is a selfless character who’s passive in relationships and Nar is a very assertive personality who’s not selfless at all and who’s totally dominant and possessive to Sasuke. But I have a whole tag abt how I see them.

Loving your posts about ship dynamics

I often end up feeling alone when I start to speak about such things. Because people either ship the opposite of what I think is right ( sn is more popular for some bizarre reason) or claim to don't mind the dynamic ( while in fact preferring the most popular one). Sometimes they even imply that it's wrong to prefer a specific dynamic "because real people are not like that". While in real life most gay people just like hetero people have the preferred position.

I, personally, have a pairings where I tolerate switch dynamic but still have a preferred one. But in those pairings the thing that makes it possible for me is the fact that the characters are both on the somewhat equal footing. There's no psychological or social imbalance between them.

But things like ns or hsmd? No. Clear top/bottom positions to me.

There's even sun/moon symbolism there...

And, Anon, I feel the same all the time...I wrote explanations and disclaimers on why tf I think the way I think all over my blog because at some moments it was crazy, at every time I made a comment about top and bottom some sheep-like person appeared with their "you can't ship A/B because top/bottom distinction fetishizes gay guys" and "real ppl are not like that, they switch"...

I heard these bullshit things so many times and they make me laugh because probably those who say them aren't even lgbt, or allies, they're just shippers of the other dynamic, or who want to bitch for the sake of bitching, they probably even had s*x before so stfu, gay guys in real life are not even listening to you and they sure don't give a damn about how you portray your characters in your little online world. And the switching thing...ugh. Like you said, some ppl do have preferences irl. Even gay guys. I am not a guy but I do have a strong preference and I had it both when I had a guy and now that I am with a girl. So real life doesn't confirm their bullshit. Also, even if irl it's was they say, we're talking about fictional characters...specifically, fictional characters with supernatural powers, in a fantasy universe. If they can summon magic animals and direct black flames with their eyes, can't they be only bottoms as well? Just sayin'.

And ofc there are the fake switch shippers, who claim they like both but you can clearly see they prefer one, which suspiciously is always the wrong one. They all ship SN but they claim they're open and woke and cool so they like SNS. F*ck them tbh.

And don't get me started on those who claim that Sasuke bottom is 'wrong' totally misinterpreting his personality, especially with NAr and Itachi. And they bitch at you for not shipping SN and SI...Like, wtf are you looking at? cause it's not the same manga I read. I remember some idiot using the sun/moon to prove their OOC point even, i don't remember what was the logic but it was so stupid I blocked them, and it was one of those very popular blogs lol

To think that sun/moon yin/yang should have closed all sort of discussion about top/bottom right? NS and HSMD (which I assume it's hashimada) are pretty clear...and there are many others who are pretty clear, after all if a character like Sas has clearly a passive/yang personality and one like NAr has an assertive/yin personality it's almost impossible to see them in a different 'role'. For me, thinking about top Sas is really OOC. Others can switch, like Kakaobi where I too switch preference for one or the other lol, not being a big fan of the pairing anyway so I go with the mood of the fanart I'm looking at. Or, say, rare pairings as Tobirama/Madara who both give me bottom vibes so who knows. Like you said, when the pairing is really equal I get the switching (even in Shiita I kinda get it) but NS, Hashimada, and all pairings with a power inbalance are clear. And those ppl are wrong.

I disagree with anon personality does have effect on who tops/bottoms, heck I base on personality than appearance too but still sometime like for certain pairs it is different, like for example for a certain pair gloomy personality x sunshine personality is the top/bottom but another pair that has this personality is sunshine x gloomy and for this other pair the top is the sunshine/while the bottom is gloomy one, it's personality then actions (then appearance, maybe) that determine it

yes exactly. personality extends to everything, including s*x...in general, a shy person usually won't make the first move, or be totally wild in bed with someone for the first time. It's just an example. Ofc there are controlling ppl who want to be dominated in bed and all that stuff that a lot of ppl like in pairings, but it's an exception. The majority of characters, and ppl, who are dominant in everyday life, will be dominant in bed too because it's natural for them, just like passive ppl will be passive and let them take initiative.

Anime has stereotypes of a certain appearance for the top and a certain one for the bottom, for personality it kind of depends because after all ships are mostly fan made content, but still, they usually have some 'guidelines', with some I agree, with some less. Like you with the sunshine/gloomy dynamic that doesn't always determine who's who, without taking into consideration their personalities and actions.

In N*ruto I don't even consider him such a big sunshine boy, since he showed a dark side more times. But still, he sure isn't the gloomy one, so I get what you mean. And it's clearly NS not because sunshine/gloomy only, but because Nar acted dominant and assertive with Sas since day 1.

Also some passive ppl/characters are not entirely submissive, they are kind of feisty and rebellious, for real or as a 'catch me if you can' kinda challenging behavior.

As a general thing I prefer the older one in the pairing, the more experienced, to be top. The bigger one physically even though it really depends on personality. Like, Kisame and Itachi, I don't like Itakisa aesthetically but as personalities it seems more fitting, since Itachi is a very controlling person with every character. At the same time, about a pairing I ship in a different fandom, based on some real life personalities lol, for me the oldest and more experienced and more protective one is the bottom, not the top, as, since it's real life, with homophobia existing and all, I imagine that it's more difficult to be bottom than top, in such a context, so the more experienced one takes this role. But in N*ruto and other fictional universes, where I imagine everyone bi/pansexual so the problem doesn't exist, I apply the previous 'rule'.

Or, in Psycho Pass, my ship is underrated: mostly they ship Kogami (darker skinned, taller, more muscular, gloomy but action based) with Ginoza (pale, shorter, thinner, gloomy but strict to to rules and procedures) with Kogami top but to me it's OOC because Kogami is forced in a subordinate/prisoner role, while Ginoza is not only a superior but a sort of handler/owner of him. And since Ginoza sticks to the rules and looks down on 'inferiors' it would be weird that he literally bended over for Kogami, while it's fitting that he has Kogami do it for him.

Also idk, most main characters have top energy imo lol.

I just rewatched the part where sasuke still runs away to oro even though his clan is alive and it triggered me again. Do you have an opinion on how he would interact specifically with his father in that sort of AU? I just wish we got better content on his interactions with his family at some point. I don’t think he would leave them just because he felt inferior and jealous.

I replied to a similar ask here and here, this is pretty much everything I wrote about non massacre AU stuff and this is my headcanons tag.

That filler is a wasted opportunity, they could have created a good non massacre AU but they wanted the same tensions and problems from canon so instead of working harder with creativity and creating a situation where conflict exists but it's different because the context is different, they just made everything ok except for Sasuke who's extremely high strung and seeking power, which is ooc especially in an AU where his family is alive, since in canon his dream was to work with his father and brother, no power dream at all.

Tbh the only good things about that AU were the interactions between Minato and Itachi, and Shisui and Sasuke.

I think that with his father he would have been pretty much like he was as a child, respecful and admiring him very much. And being a little afraid of him even, because in a traditional household sons are always a little afraid of their father, who represents 'the' authority, and ofc the person they admire and love and whom they want to be aknowledged, just like child Sasuke was with his father in canon.

Ofc he would never leave his family, especially not because he felt inferior and jealous. On the contrary he would work harder to get stronger and better and earn his father's approval. In case he wouldn't obtain it he would be sad, but he would blame himself for not being as good as Itachi, he wouldn't disrespect his brother or his father. Never.

Hello. Why are you telling me this? Are you a canon couples shipper, a sn/s shipper or what?

First of all ppl can ship whatever they want as long as they don’t bitch at others for shipping something else. And you can rant in your blog against these ships as long as you want but before sending messages abt this, shouldn’t you verify if the other person wants to receive this? Cause mine is not a confessions blog, and I ship rare pairs. And idk what you ship but if you ship rare pairings, unpopular pairings or even a popular same sex pairing you experienced shippers of canon, or other shippers, bitching at your ship, it’s annoying.

Second, I coulnd’t care less about the pairings you mentioned but there is much worse ppl can ship. Like canon pairings. Is Nejiten is such a big problem for you, why? They were comrades, they got along, why they can’t be a couple for some shipper? Cause as far as I remember they interacted much better than, say, Sasuke and Sak*ra or N*ruto and H*nata. And Tsunade loved Dan, ofc, but if someone wants to ship her with Jiraiya why not, Dan died, so she might have moved on with Jiraiya. Or whomever else.

Third, I do agree the fandom is crazy. They ship SS and NH, pairings that have no chemistry, one sided shit that exists only to make children for the sequel. But hey it’s heterosexual and it’s canon so it has to be ok, right?

Not interested in Itachi without Sasuke! Finally someone who gets it! Just read a Shiita fic and the first part was good but later it just focused on them and brushed aside Sasuke. Too many fix it fics are Itachi's life getting better, not Sasuke's. Like if Itachi got a second chance he wouldn't devote it all to Sasuke. There are too few fics focusing on Sasuke, it's always look how perfect Itachi is, feels like that filler where Sasuke is just plot device. Sasuke is the MC, not Itachi.

I can like minor characters and want to write something to give them space and not give it to main characters, that’s ok. They ship shiita, Sasuke is in the way of their ship, so they childishly hate Sasuke and superficially remove him from the narration or express their hatred for him portraying him as a jealous and annoying overly present character bothering their cute couple.

This is OOC on many levels, because Sasuke is not a jealous person at all, not even of his brother, precisely because Itachi is his older brother whom he respects, so even if he was jealous of him spending time with Shisui, he wouldn’t do anything about it because he’s younger and he respects his brother’s authority, having been raised in a traditional household.

Itachi’s most important person is Sasuke and Sasuke’s most important person is Itachi, this is obvious. But while shippers of Sasuke with someone else can write fics where Itachi is dead, Itachi shippers can’t. Those who ship Itachi with an akatsuki member can focus on the period Itachi was there and didn’t have Sasuke around but shiita shippers are usually writing some non massacre or modern au so they have to ‘deal’ with Sasuke’s presence, so to speak.

It’s stupid because they could just portray him as the younger brother Itachi is protective of, they could portray the uchiha brothers as super close but they could still focus on the shiita dynamic more, instead they still see him as a threat, which, if they don’t ship itasasu, is stupid because they could just see them as brothers and itachi’s protectiveness could just be seen as the older brother’s behavior. Also because they portray itachi as not controlling or commanding with Sasuke, which btw is very OOC because itachi is not meek, not submissive and especially not with Sasuke whom he controls and decides for, whether Sasuke is ok with it or not.

But ofc for them it’s the opposite. That’s why despite not having anything against the pairing I avoid shiita fics like the plague.

Indeed, and actually it makes sense. Not only because Sasuke loves animals very much and he shows it in every occasion he interacts with one, but also because in the case of the ninja cats Denka and Hina, they're not just cats, they're ninja cats 'working' with Nekobaa, who sells weapons and who always sold weapons to the Uchiha clan.

It's a matter of respect towards Nekobaa and her business, because she's connected to his clan. In a way she's the closest person to the Uchiha, because she had business with them. This confirms what I was saying in the previous ask, that Sasuke used to be respectful to the clan and he would have been more respectful if they were still alive.

As for the other summons, he doesn't talk to the hawk but he just pets it lol, and he was kind of colder but not rude to Aoda, who is polite in an old fashioned 'professional' way too. They're 2 warriors fighting together basically.

I know it's a Sasuke centric blog but based on your Kakashi reblogs i assumed he is one of your favourite characters. I wanted to know your opinions and headcanons on his ships such as with Obito, Iruka, Yamato, Guy...

Thank you, tbh I wish there were more Team Taka content, my blog would have much more of them if there was. And yes it’s a Sasuke centric blog, but because of the lack of good Sasuke content (like, no canon pairings, no shitty pairings and ooc dynamics, no self-insert Sasxreader, no oocness and stupid meme or fake woke essays) I broadened my reblogs to characters I like as well. Like Kakashi, who imo is a very interesting one.

As for ships, my opinion on most minor characters is based on how I liked their interactions with Sasuke, Kakashi ships aren’t interesting to me. Also because I ship him in *insert tumblr sjw concerned voice* ewwww problematic ships* which are mentioned pretty much everywhere in the blog. So. If you ships whose ships you mentioned sorry, I’m not judging you ofc but but you asked about them so I’m going to judge those ships and ughlol.

Kakaobi/Obikaka: I like it. It makes sense, it has depth, much more than anything with Rin, like all mlm pairings compared to het pairings tbh. It’s angsty and can be dark, so I like it.

Kaka.iru/Iku.kaka: is one of the stupidest ships ever, and I like crack ships and rare pairings a lot. I kind of hate it because it’s overrated, I mean, it was cause when the manga started NAr, Sas and the others were basically children drawn like ugly gremlins (imo kishi’s style got better with time and by the time the inn scene and/or the VOTE fight happened he was ok but the beginning was horrible), totally not shippable, so Kakashi and Iruka were basically the only ones who could be shipped. Cause they have no interaction until the Pain arc. Overrated and boring af. Like Iruka, a character I couldn’t care less about lol, sorry

Gai.kaka/Kaka.gai: Boring af cause Gai is boring af to me. But dynamics wise it makes sense, they have moments, but still, too boring for me.

Yama.kaka/Kaka.yama: the level of boring of this one is the same as with Iruka, but at least they interact more. And those interactions are funny. But Yamato is really boring. too boring to be shipped with someone lol.

Oh reading all of this makes me think of my ships from animes/tv series/movies/rps (sorry if it's not your thing) and I definitely have different criteria like in nrussu nrt is the top because he's the one who keeps pursuing ssk, in my rps the older one is bottom for me because of their shy and soft personality while the ship in a tv series i like even though he is quite muscular because of his boyish personality i see him as a bottom and his partner who is older than him is the top ;;; well i definitely noticed that my tops are usually the assertive/protective ones i mean the bottoms aren't weak in my ships but usually the one who is more between the two

idk what 'nrussu' is but other than this I get your point...first of all, when you are interested in a character's canon personality, you tend to ship pairings where their canon personality shows, it doesn't matter what pairing it is and how popular/canon-ish/rare it is, any pairing is more interesting when the characters' canon personality is portrayed, and the way they interact reflects it. You roleplay, I did it a little too, and I write, so we are attentive to build a context for the pairing to happen. It's an interesting challenge, to take their canon personality and motives and making it happen actually, and it's cool to see their canon personality become a pairing dynamic, top and bottom, assertive and passive. When it's the reverse usually it's OOC.

It also depends on what kind of mood the ship has, if it's supposed to be healthy or angsty, dark or whatever. Protective top is always a good choice when it's a positive environment, I wouldn't apply it to NS tho. For a real-life based ship I used to ship this dynamic, older protective more muscular top and more slender, snarky but vulnerable inside bottom, then I realized it was a fan stareotype lol cause the one they considered top seemed to be bisexual and more vulnerable than it looked like, and the seemingly vulnerable one was actually a very controlling person so it made more sense that the older one did the hardest part, which is being bottom, to someone who would prefer to be in control. But usually my Sasuke ships all have older partners who are naturally also bigger and kind of dominant personalities, with him being, depending on the pairing, feisty or rebellious apparently but anyway passive and submissive to them.

Maybe because I like dark-ish scenarios more I added all this. So like generally I am more interested in a protective-that-becomes-controlling top lol. But I think you understood my point.

I enjoy this kind of discussion too lol, it's refreshing when the discussion is about top/bottom and not moralistic bullshit lol

btw is the muscular boyish personality as bottom and the older as top pairing from SNK? I don't watch it but I remember someone shipping 2 characters with this dynamic and complaining that everyone shipped the reverse lol

I’ll forever feel sorry that the Kakashi/Sasuke relationship wasn’t given enough space in part 2. Like, in the anime it’s longer at least but in the manga their fight is so short and the fact that Sasuke lost his sight during it, and that Kakashi is a sharingan user, should have been given some more panels, like, Kakashi having to hurt a blinded Sas but being sorry even if he’s following Konoha’s orders and all the sh*t he believes in? But nope, and soon N*ruto comes and the spotlight is shifted on him. Ugh disappointing.

In a series that has sexism accusations it's pretty evident that Kishimoto never sexualizes the female cast right? Jiraya sexualizes Tsunade and even Naruto ಠ_ಠ but it isn't shown in the panel drawings. In fact the only sexualized character in the manga is Sasuke?! There's even a line where Karin thinks Sasuke is hot covered in bruises/beat up. The art certainly agrees such as that panel with Sasuke's hair spread out in vote1. Why is Sasuke THE sexualized one? Let me think it's because of POV 😏

sorry I don't understand what POV is and I kinda have a problem with the word 'sexualizing', I prefer to call it fanservice and not use this big a** real life issues words. Also because in Jiraiya's case it's played for laughs. I don't even know where 'sexualizing N*ruto' happened in the manga, sorry.

Also ‘sexism accusations’ happened from the first world bored western fandom, online, so it’s a marginal problem created and discussed by that very specific part of the fandom.

Back to Sasuke, he's the most 'sexualized' one yes. he's canonically very beautiful, as told by many characters and kishi did A LOT of fanservice with him, drawing him shirtless, laying down in a sexy way even during fights, drawing panels/illustrations of him with other characters in a suggestive way like Orochimaru or Itachi and N*ruto, and ofc that Karin scene where he said Sasuke is hot even covered in bruises (so basically Karin likes whump) and also, indirectly, that panel where Konohamaru does sexy boy on boy jutsu for S*kura, with Sai and Sas (basically S*kura likes yaoi). It's all fanservice and I like this a lot.

(unpopular opinion but I laugh at tumblr puritans screaming at ppl 'sexualizing' or 'fetishizing' characters and relationships when it's the author who does fanservice first and not just kishi but everyone in manga, anime, tv shows, movies. fanservice has always existed and will always exist, otherwise imagine how boring shows would be lol)

Lots of people blame him but do you think there is any way Kakashi could have stopped Sas from leaving? I think not. After the cursed mark, he neglected everything to focus on Sas only. His approach wasn't the best, but the best he could do with his own issues + without having Sas kept by force which would never work in the long run. Would have loved to see a peek into Kakashi's mind after that - we have no idea what he was up to or feeling during the time gap to Shippuden! Missed opportunity.

I think that kishi needed Sasuke to leave Konoha for the plot, so it would have been impossible for anyone to stop him.

It’s not a mystery that I love the bond between Kakashi and Sasuke and I regret it was overlooked the more the story went on. Now, I can almost feel the woke fans yelling at me that he was a bad teacher...yes and no. I hate that he supported Shikamaru’s revenge and he didn’t Sasuke’s, I hate it very much, being Sasuke’s supporter.

But even though I disagree with Kakashi I analyse his personality and motives and it kinda makes sense. Since his father committed suicide he stuck to rules, he clung to the village, he hid his own trauma and loneliness. He lost his comrades and sensei, he functions only because he kinda stopped thinking and hid in blind obedience to the village and escapism in his books. His balance isn’t exactly a stable one, although it works for him.

He did try to help Sasuke in a way a sensei does, but I think his personality didn’t allow him to go further. He didn’t know how to approach and support him emotionally, because he is a shinobi, he was an Anbu. He’s not, say, Iruka (who kinda tried with Nar). So he tried to put Sasuke in the path he deemed right, that is, the path that he followed, not considering that Sasuke might need something else. You’re right, he had his own issues which he solved like I said, through blind following the village rules and escapism, and even though he totally dedicated himself to Sas after the curse mark, he didn’t help much emotionally, because imo he was not able to do that, like most former Anbu and shinobi tbh, as they’re only required to endure, and that’s what he basically told Sasuke to do.

You’re also right that it would have been very interesting to know what he had in mind after Sasuke left...when in Shippuuden he faces him, thinking that the Third probably felt the same when he faced Orochimaru, it’s deep because it shows that for him Sasuke was a precious person like Orochimaru had been for the Third. But on the other hand it’s a bit disappointing because, from an out of universe point of view, he was turned into one of the biggest Nar supporters, totally forgetting the strong bond he had had with Sasuke (which is really bad in the narration, because kishi could have made kakashi support Nar even without forgetting Sas), and from an in-universe perspective it’s like Kakashi deleted his own personality and feelings, hiding in those of a figure of authority he respected, which is fitting if you think about it, for someone who coped with trauma and lived his life the way he did.
