It means a lot to me, psychologically and ideologically, that your BB becomes more emotionally resilient the more you soothe it. It doesn’t “become more dependent on you” or “cry more because it knows it can get attention that way”, on the contrary, the better your bond with it becomes, the more stress it can handle. This way of thinking about emotional stability is such a cultural shift. It wasn’t prominent when I was growing up, definitely not in my family but also not in the culture at large, apart from some hippie/alternative spaces. Sure, lots of parents were treating their kids well, but it wasn’t thought to make them resilient, strong and independent. Rather, there was the worry that “coddling” them by attending to their needs would make them weak and you had to balance their current needs with the need for them to “grow up”. The alternative wasn’t unheard of, but it certainly wasn’t mainstream, and it’s been becoming much more mainstream. We truly are living in the future.

I'm glad tumblr staff has been able to be more open and communicative lately, and I'm glad they've been able to push out ideas they've had sitting around for ages, but if I see one more tumblr ad that uses the word "hellsite" I'm gonna lose my god damn mind.

Jokes on them. Youtube-dl still works, I download most videos now because of the sheer fact that YT will not last much longer in our current political climate of anti-internet and anti-citizen copyright laws.

im sorry but it’s sincerely so fucking funny to see the absolutely unwinnable situation elon has put himself in. he’s bought an already-unprofitable website, one of the most complex social medias to-date, and immediately laid off half the staff that knew how to keep it running.

and then to try to make it profitable he’s going to charge $8 a month for 50% less ads and the privilege of being filtered to the top of search results.

$8 for the ability to blast your message before anyone else in search results and you dont have to prove you’re actually a person to buy it. he’s building a misinformation machine.

and by unbanning all the absolute scum like trump and such, advertisers want no part of it, so there goes even more profit. and just today he’s said he’s going to “name and shame” all the advertisers that have left if they dont stop being mean to him. because that’ll make them want to work with him. but then if he cows and doesn’t go through with unbanning, his clowns are going to turn on him.

then the kicker is that due to how the lean against Tesla is set up, the worse tesla performs the more debt he’s in & the worse twitter performs, the worse tesla performs.

all of these posts about not engaging with advertisers as twitter shits the bed are so funny because they like imply that the sponsored posts that are already out there haven't been getting like crazy engagements. when they have. like back when taylor swift was shilling her new dogshit album on here the post talking about got like a staggering number of notes and the same happens for anything with like even a miniscule amount of mainstream appeal. like i think we are over-estimating the percentage of tumblr users that know better or give enough of a shit to stop some sort of "adpocalypse"

#and it's not like mobile hasn't already been introducing full page audio enabled ads and shit anyways #like. they're already doing the predatory advertising shit the other corporations just don't consider it worth it to advertise for free yet #the website is almost certainly not as unprofitable as everybody would like to think it is i guess
