Uwu heard you were taking requestsss If you've got the time and mood a whiterose *she was a punk she did ballet* au mayhaps
a/n: fair warning i don’t know shit about ballet so it’s barely mentioned
Weiss Schnee was, objectively, a very talented individual. Thrust into singing, fencing, and ballet lessons at a young age—there was quite literally no space for her to be anything but talented.
That was, of course, until she found herself quite effectively disowned.
Not that she found herself minding much.
It starts, as most of these stories do, with a girl. Well, two of them, actually. Weiss (tired, angry, sore) leaving her ballet practice with a rage so obvious it practically shimmers beneath her skin, and the strange one (too tall, dark hair, lots of piercings) coming to pick up someone in the same class as her.
“Weiss!” Penny calls. “Have you met my friend yet?”
Leave me alone. Weiss wants to say, but Penny was practically beaming, making the freckles on her cheeks more pronounced and Weiss can’t find it in herself to brush her off. “I have not.” She says instead, and she sounds more soft than she’d meant to.
“Wonderful!” Penny exclaims, and gestures to the girl next to her (you know the one—too tall, dark hair, lots of piercings) who waves a little stiffly. “This is Ruby!”
Weiss (reminding you—tired, angry, sore) looks up at her, meeting her eyes. “Hello.” She says, rather flatly, crossing her arms and tilting her head. Penny can take care of herself, Weiss knows, but she can’t help but feel the slightest bit protective of the only one in class willing to actually talk to her without being passive aggressive about it.
“Hey.” Ruby greets, twitching in a way that is so endearingly awkward and does not at all go with the combination of black, red, and leather she is wearing.
Oh no. Weiss thinks. She’s cute.
Which is very much not fair, very much not fair at all, because Weiss (who is tired and angry and sore) is really not properly equipped to deal with someone who falls under the purview of ‘heart-meltingly adorable.’
Penny grins, and she can’t really tell if it’s knowing or oblivious. “Anyway, do you want to come with us to—”
“I can’t.” Weiss says, and she finds that her voice is genuinely apologetic. “I have to go to a fencing competition tomorrow morning, Father would be displeased if I spent more time than necessary outside the manor.”
Penny pouts. “Excuse my language, but your dad is absolutely—”
Ruby puts a hand over her mouth before she can say anything else. “Haha, I’m sure she didn’t mean—”
Penny shoves her hand down, still looking positively bright. “Oh know, I assure you I absolutely meant—”
“Penny!” Ruby hisses, her cheeks pink, and Weiss can’t help but laugh. Ruby shifts at the sound of her laughter, and then smiles, a heartbreakingly beautiful thing. “Um, are you sure you don’t want to come with us? We’re gonna go to the mall and get some food court nachos.” Ruby crosses her arms around her chest, still smiling, and Weiss notices the tattoo of roses for the first time.
Crap. Weiss thinks. She’s hot too.
“Food court nachos?” She asks. “I’ve never had them.”
Ruby gasps, melodramatically placing a hand over her heart. “Well now you have to go.”
“Alright.” Weiss agrees after a moment of deliberation.
“Wonderful.” Penny says, “I totally have somewhere entirely different to be—” (she hiccups) “—so have fun! Salutations, friends!” And then she was gone, skipping away before anyone could protest.
Ruby’s smile turns sheepish. “Ummm, sorry about that, you don’t have to—”
“So which mall are we going to?” Weiss interrupts her. “I expect the very best food court nachos, now that you’ve introduced me to them.”
“The best?” Ruby asks after a moment.
“The best.” Weiss agrees.
“Alright.” A crooked grin slowly makes its way onto her face, “Let me show you.”
It goes without saying that food court nachos were not the only thing that Weiss was shown.

WhiteRose Week Day 8-AU’s (Free Day)
There are many worlds and universes. The two brothers were the creators of this one, but what of others? Was there a ‘Weiss’ and ‘Ruby’ in these other planes? The short and simple answer is yes, though who and what they are changes from universe to universe. But in almost all of them, somehow they always were together.
Whether simply in a world without the two brother’s interference and behind on technology, whether trapped in a dying world filled with nothing but pain and misery, whether they were code trapped in a colorful world hiding a dark side, or whether they lived within the pages of a fairytale, they always were together.
The manner of their relationship however was forever changing and different. In one they had fallen in love early and were married, in another they were still trying to just stand one another, in another their relationship may be stuck as it was in their time at Beacon for all eternity, and in another their love was the only thing that could save their world.
Let’s peek into some of those alternate realities, shall we?
"Isn't there enough blind trust I'm my life?" Weiss huffed a bit as Ruby led her by the hand, glaring through the blindfold.
"Uh-Uh, no peeking! You're gonna love this!" Ruby was practically skipping in excitement as she led her wife through the door.
"Okay... Now!" Ruby exclaimed as she pulled the blindfold off. Weiss blinked briefly before her eyes widened. She was inside the mansion she and Ruby had explored when they were kids before Jaques had sent her away except the entire building had been restored. No longer did vines creep up the walls, no longer did the place smell of mildew. It was fully furnished and looked like, well, a place someone could actually live.
Behind them, two pairs of small excited footsteps raced to catch up. Ruby turned to them and smiled. She then turned and pointed at a doll house she had bought earlier in secret for the surprise.
"Noel, that's for you!" Ruby beamed brighter than she had in a good long while. Noel, one of their two daughters, let out an excited and happy gasp, racing towards the dollhouse with stars in her silver eyes. As she started inspecting said dollhouse and their other daughter tried to look happy for her due to not getting her own present, Ruby snuck back and grabbed an intricate box off a nearby table and hid it behind her back.
"And Summer, this-" Ruby presented the box to the elder daughter who's eyes quickly widened as she took the box and opened it. “Is for you.”
Opening it was accompanied by a small gasp of genuine shock and delight. Summer looked up at her mother with happy tears brimming in her icy blue eyes.
"Ballet slippers..." She all but whispered before jumping up to hug Ruby with all her might. "You remembered!"
"Of course I did! Don't worry there's a ballet place just down the street," Ruby hugged back with just as much enthusiasm before glancing up at Weiss with a grin. "Right next to your parents house actually!" Ruby's grin grew a bit cheeky. Weiss responded by rolling her eyes and huffing.
"Please don't tell me you got us this house just to spite my father." Weiss sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose with a groan as Ruby set Summer down to go play with her sister.
"Of course not! I got this place because of how much it means to both of us. It's where we fell in love, after all." Ruby took her wife's hands, smiling lovingly at her and bringing one of said hands to her mouth to gently kiss it. Weiss's expression softened in response, a gentle smile on her lips.
"Dolt..." Weiss whispered affectionately before pulling Ruby close and into a loving kiss. After a few moments, the two separated, looking at each other with eyes full of love.
"I know it's taken quite a while, but welcome home Weiss Rose," Ruby giggled a bit. "This is the life I promised you." Ruby sounded rather content and joyous, the happiest she had been in months since she had lost her job, even happier than she looked in the ring directing her circus.
"Dolt, any life with you is the best life I could ever live." Weiss answered honestly, smiling gently.
Well, at least that was true in that reality.
In another world, one where machines and androids were locked in an eternal battle, not even the most honest of souls could ever find a ‘happy ending’ or a better life. The two and some of their comrades had doppelgangers in this world as well, though whether that was a good or bad thing was up to debate...
"Emotions are prohibited, remember?" Battle Unit 18B, nicknamed Weiss due to her stark white hair, chided her companion.
"Yeah yeah..." Scanner Unit 15S, nicknamed Ruby because of the red tint to her raven hair, replied in annoyance. She had just seen a moose and was eager to pet it but Weiss had pulled her back and Ruby’s pouting had earned Weiss’s usual response to her being upset. Or friendly. Or goofy. Or anything really.
“Only affirmation is necessary 15S.” Weiss replied coolly, scanning the surrounding area for any Grimm Machines. There were a few a ways away, it was hard to tell if they were hostile or the weird kind that just stood around and did nothing. Ruby’s annoyed groan drew her attention away from the faraway enemies, Weiss raising an eyebrow.
“Please just call me Ruby, I really don’t like being called by my code-” Weiss opened her mouth to reiterate what she had just said but Ruby continued before she could interject. “It wastes time, it takes longer to say ‘Fifteen-S’ then just ‘Ruby.’ I’m not asking anything unreasonable.” Ruby attempted to convince her partner that it was somehow more efficient to call her by name, that was the only way she was gonna get her to do it. After all, that’s the only reason she agreed to let people call her Weiss after a LOT of bugging from her Operator, Operator 17O or ‘Yang’ as she was called due to her bright yellow hair.
Yang was the one that came up with their names after discovering the names of colors in other languages. She even tried to get Operator 19O to go by ‘Blake’ after her onyx colored locks and managed to convince the more stiff android to comply. Ruby really wished she had the sheer amount of charisma that her old Operator did…
Ah, and then there was that. For some reason the Commander decided to swap their operators, something about ‘mission efficiency.’ It wasn’t like Blake was mean or anything, she was just pretty quiet and not much for conversation. Ruby was just sad that she didn’t get to talk to Yang as much. Weiss however was very very upset that she had Yang as her operator now, she actually begged the commander to swap them back but she refused.
Weiss’s soft hum pulled Ruby back to reality, the girl seeming to be mulling her comment over. With a small sigh and a shrug, she gave in. Ruby beamed at her success, thanking whatever God oversaw this broken world that she had finally made some sort of progress with Weiss.
If only the poor little android knew just how close they would become… And what the ultimate price of having emotional attachment in this godforsaken world would be.
But that’s a story for another day. Let’s survey another reality, shall we?
Not Your Reality, nor theirs, but a reality that in itself shouldn’t be a reality at all. A small world set to a script and manipulated by an unseen hand. A world of few possibilities, none of them good. But at the very least, it wasn’t as bleak as the world of androids and eternal suffering. No no, this world was only as dark and twisted as the unseen hand allowed. Luckily, they aren’t exactly a bad person so this reality is usually dim at the most and joyous at least...
“Yay, Weiss brought cupcakes!” Ruby squealed in excitement, moving to hug-attack the girl before she sidestepped expertly, leaving Ruby crashing into a desk behind her.
“You have to wait until everyone else gets here you dolt!” Weiss chided, though her annoyance quickly turned to concern when she heard Ruby whimper in pain and cup her nose with her hand. Setting the tin of cupcakes on a different desk, Weiss quickly knelt down next to her friend.
“I’m sorry, are you hurt? Let me see.” Weiss gently tugged at the hands hiding her nose. Thankfully when the girl removed her hands, it didn’t look like she had a bloody nose though it was a tad red and her eyes were watering.
“Are you gonna be okay?” Weiss asked with a soft voice. Ruby nodded, sniffling. “Would a cupcake make it better?” Weiss reached for the cupcake tin. Ruby smiled a small bit and nodded.
“Okay, here you go you dolt. Just don’t try and tackle me again, okay?” Weiss requested, taking a cupcake and holding it out to the younger girl. Ruby just nodded more enthusiastically, taking the cupcake and beginning to chow down happily. Weiss found herself smiling fondly at the display, not quite being able to resist the urge to reach over and pat Ruby’s head. This only earned an even more precious expression from the girl which caused Weiss to start blushing a bit.
“You two are so cute!” Yang practically squealed, seeming to have appeared in the doorway out of thin air. Behind her was Blake, and behind Blake was the club leader, Ilia.
“S-Shut up! We’re NOT cute!” Weiss bolted to her feet, glaring daggers at the blonde. Ruby however seemed oblivious to the comment, getting up as well.
“Oh hi guys! I was wondering when you were gonna show up, you’re almost late which means I'M not the late one for once!” Ruby grinned triumphantly, though her triumph was greatly diminished by the frosting currently smeared across her face.
“Sorry about that, we went to find Ilia, apparently she was too busy practicing piano to remember her own club was having a meeting!” Yang teased the girl, giving her a playful elbow to the side. Ilia let out a small squeak and rubbed her side, glaring at the taller girl.
“This is the first time I've ever been late, could you cut me some slack?” Ilia grumbled, gravitating more towards Blake and away from Yang.
“Fine, fine. Why the cupcakes, Weiss? What’s the occasion?” Yang turned her attention away from the leader and to Weiss.
“It’s the 2nd anniversary of the club being founded, how typical of you to forget about it.” Weiss rolled her eyes at the blonde’s question. Honestly, it seemed like she was the only one who actually remembered stuff like that, or the meetings at all for that matter. At this point she was always the earliest to arrive at the club, then again she wanted as much time as she could here, after all, it was the only time that… Weiss shook away that thought. No reason to dwell on that right now.
“I can attest that they’re quite scrumptious!” Ruby held her chin, speaking in an incredibly bad British accent in an attempt to sound cool. Weiss let out a chuckle and grabbed a napkin out of the few napkins she had brought earlier.
“Hold still you dork, you’ve got frosting on your face.” Weiss placed a hand on the side of Ruby’s face, holding it still as she gently wiped the frosting off. Ruby jumped a bit at the sudden touch and smiled sheepishly at Weiss’s actions.
“Honestly, you two are so cute it should be illegal, you two are so sweet together you’re giving me diabetes!” Yang continued to gush at the two being adorable, this time getting both of their attentions and rather than getting defensive the two ended up stuttering out flustered sentences that sounded sort of like they had words in them but they were completely and utterly incomprehensible.
“Okay okay, stop teasing them and let’s get the meeting started. Did everyone bring their poems?” Ilia asked as she moved to her usual spot in the empty classroom that served as the literature club’s meeting place. This question was greeted by nods all around so it seemed everyone had them ready which would make everything a lot easier.
The game glitched out a bit when not all of them had poems to share.
While some of these worlds leaned closer or further to technology, there were also worlds that leaned more towards the fantastical aspects of the world and away from the technological advancements of Remnant. This realm in particular was a land ruled by a cruel man with a magic mirror that was in desperate need of saving from his icy clutches…
Ruby gave a soft sigh of annoyance as she quickly moved away from the king to find a dance partner. His back was turned, as the dance was supposed to go, so he didn’t notice when somebody else took the princess’s place. Quickly looking around the ballroom, she spotted a girl who was missing a partner. Letting out a sigh of relief, she rushed over and stood with her back to her.
According to the king, this ancient Atlesian dance was meant to start not facing your partner before turning to them to start dancing and the partners were supposed to alternate so you’d have a new one each time. It seemed simple enough to her, a little strange though. Then again this entire ball was animal themed, the king had even insisted to provide Ruby with a rabbit costume. Thankfully she had a heads up in advance so she managed to just take the ears off the very very dumb looking outfit, slap them onto a top hat, and call it good. She managed to get the king’s advisor, a boy named Whitley who was supposedly the prince, to give her a nice looking suit to wear with it. The last thing the princess wanted to do in a foreign land was look like a fool.
Ruby cringed a bit at that. She… May have already done that to some extent. On her way here, her and her half-sister Yang were stopped by a band of thieves. At first the two thought they were giants or some long-limbed creature special to this forrest only to find that they were wearing strange extendable stilts. They hadn’t been attacked by a band of tall mythical creatures, they had been attacked by a band of dwarves.
To say that Yang didn’t take kindly to being defeated by people half her size was an understatement. Granted she was probably just upset at herself for losing to them when her entire purpose for traveling with Ruby was to protect her on her journey to Atlas. The dwarves didn’t take kindly to that and stole their fine coats and pretty much everything they had been taking with them, leaving them tied up and from a tree by their feet. Thankfully the dwarves were at least a little courteous and let the sisters keep enough clothes so that they weren’t going to freeze to death, then again they probably wanted just their coats since they looked expensive.
Anyways, they were stuck hanging there for at least ten minutes before a peasant girl named Weiss had found them and was happy to help get them down. Ruby lamented a bit that she hadn’t caught where Weiss was from or her last name. She was very beautiful, kind too. After that the duo made their way to the castle on their horses that the dwarves hadn’t stolen since they were way too big for them to even ride and found their way to their destination, the Schnee Family castle. They had met the king, he invited them to stay, and that’s how Ruby found herself with her back to a stranger and wearing a top hat donned with rabbit ears...
She was drawn out of her thoughts by the other dancers to her sides starting to turn around so she figured it was time for her to turn as well. Turning around, Ruby found herself face to face with… Weiss? Both parties regarded the other with shock and wide eyes.
                                                 “Weiss?”
                                                  “Ruby?”
“You- You’re here!” Ruby tried not to shout with shock, keeping it down as they started to dance. Weiss gave a timid smile that made Ruby’s heart skip a beat.
“Yeah, I, uh, live here, I’m the princess… You didn’t tell me you’re the Princess from Vale they were talking about.” Weiss commented, looking up into the foreign princess’s eyes as they continued their dance. Or more accurately, the next person came over to replace Ruby and she pushed them along to the next person, not wanting to leave Weiss quite yet.
“Well I was tied up in a tree, I didn’t want to say I was a princess when I looked so utterly ridiculous.” Ruby pouted a bit at that before Weiss snickered a bit and she quickly realized why.
“Saaaaays the Princess in a bunny hat.” Ruby chuckled awkwardly, tipping said hat to Weiss with a goofy smile that caused the girl to giggle more at her antics.
“Why are you wearing that anyways?” Weiss tilted her head a bit, eyeing the shoddy sewing that kept the ears in place.
“Well, King Jaques provided a pretty dumb-looking rabbit-themed dress and hat for me to wear and Yang- You remember her right- Wouldn’t let me be caught dead wearing the thing and I agreed so I bugged Whitley to get me a suit instead and we just put the ears on this hat to at least be a little courteous about the whole thing.” Ruby explained, though as she was talking another person tried to swap with Ruby and once again was pushed along to the next one.
“Aren’t we supposed to be changing?” Weiss quirked an eyebrow at the development. Ruby just let out a charming laugh as they continued dancing.
“I think so but I want to talk to you more. It’s not every day I meet a princess as beautiful as you.” Ruby complimented just as the dance required her to pull Weiss closer. A blush found its way onto the snow white skin of Weiss’s cheeks. Ruby’s smile grew a bit bashful.
“Eheh, uh, Yang told me to say that. I’m not the best at talking to girls. I hope that wasn’t too dorky.” Ruby rubbed the back of her neck with a sheepish chuckle.
“It was pretty dorky. Your sister must not be good at talking to girls either.” Weiss chuckled a bit as Ruby pushed yet another person along.
“...But it was also very sweet.” Weiss smiled up at the other girl, the comment bringing a blush to the princess’s face, the adorable expression making the Schnee giggle a bit.
If only the two had noticed the eyes glaring daggers at them from the throne, maybe they would’ve seen what would happen next coming…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby jerked awake, panting heavily. She trembled a bit, darting her eyes around. It was still dark, dark enough that she couldn’t really see. However she didn’t need her sight to know the arms that had just wrapped around her waist belonged to Weiss.
“Was it one of those dreams again?” Came the Ice Queen’s voice, her hand gently rubbing her back in an attempt to calm her girlfriend down.
“Kind of… It was three of them… The one where we were married… The one where you were kinda mean… The one where we were in a club together… And the one where you’re a princess...”  Ruby returned the hug, burying her face in her shoulder. The dreams weren’t necessarily scary, well, besides the second one, but it was still so weird to dream of her and Weiss having such different lives…
“Did anything bad happen…?” Weiss prompted gently, running her fingers through Ruby’s hair. There had been a few nights where she had nightmares about some of these places, Ruby was always too terrified or sad to tell her much after the many many times she woke up in incredibly pain or woke Weiss up with an almost crushing hug because she had seen her die in her dream. Sometimes she woke up gasping for air like she had been choked, sometimes she woke up sweating like she had just been in a blazing inferno, usually checking up on Yang or Blake after that dream in particular to make sure they were okay. However considering her skin wasn’t the shade of her girlfriend’s hair, it didn’t seem like tonight was one of those nights.
“N-Not really…” Ruby spoke muffledly into Weiss’s shoulder. She just wanted to stop seeing this stuff, trying to save the world was stressful enough as is, she didn’t need to be worrying about these strange recurring dreams on top of that.
“Okay… Let’s try and get some rest, okay? I’ll keep you safe.” Weiss whispered, continuing her calming ministrations. Ruby gave a small noise of approval before sinking further into Weiss’s arms. Every time she was in the heiress’s arms, she remembered why the dreams shook her up so badly. Because her Weiss was such an important piece of her life and heart and she wouldn’t have her any differently.
No matter the world, the two are together. No matter the circumstances, they eventually fall in love again. It’s a love that surpasses worlds, timelines, and universes.
Nah i’m just kidding I made this to gush about some of my WhiteRose-centric AU’s and write some scenes from them. If you couldn’t tell, the AU’s are of The Greatest Showman, Nier Automata, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Mirror Mirror. Hope you enjoyed them!
