Figuring out the age of Sims in the Sims 4 is tough. Sims don’t have a set ‘birthday,’ and they age up based on life stages, making it hard for legacy players and storytellers to narrow down exactly what ‘age’ a sim is. Let’s face it: there’s a big difference between a child who is five years old and one who is twelve.

I’ve been a legacy/storyteller for years. Previously, I relied on the in-game ‘normal’ life span for my sims. However, I often felt rushed to get my sims married and have children. This was to avoid the problem of my elder sims dying off before meeting their grandchildren. This issue became even worse when the Discover University Expansion was introduced. If I want to send my sims to college, it takes up even more of their young adult years. Consequently, the marriage/child ‘rush’ becomes a bigger issue.

Eventually, I turned to the MC Command Center mod to solve this by creating my own age ranges, giving each life stage ample time to pursue their goals, develop as characters, and later find someone to spend their lives with. With some tweaking over the years, I came up with the life stage breakdowns you see above. I tried matching the number of sim days in each life stage with an ‘age’ that matches what we’re used to in the real world. I am sharing this because it might be helpful for anyone else who is struggling to ‘age’ their sims. And while it’s not perfect, it could be a good starting point, and I hope it helps!

Sims 4 World Map

I’ve fallen in love with several Sims 4 Maps over the years, each created by creators who ingeniously combined all of the worlds in the game into one cohesive map. It’s a valuable tool for storytellers, helping them to picture where each town is in relation to the others. But my favorite maps have not been updated in years, so I figured it was time to create my own.

This is my version of the Sims 4 world. I picture the Sims 4 world being reasonably small, with most of the cities/towns being accessible by car, train, or bus…unless separated by water and not connected by a bridge. This map is not based on real-world geography. However, I did consider which real-life city/town/country the worlds were based on (or influenced by) before deciding where to place them.

Here are my November/December crochet creations. The first picture is of a doll I created a year ago for my sister. My sister has locs and wanted her doll to match, so a few weeks ago I gave her a makeover by changing out the wavy hair for locs and adding a jacket and purse. The second picture is of a series of angel ornaments that I completed in November. I listed them on my Ko-fi shop, and they sold out that same day 🤗.

I honestly thought people knew about this, but I'm going to share it again just in case they don't.

Tumblr has this secret dashboard that shows only the Tumblr blogs that you want to see!

This is the link for it - https://www.tumblr.com/timeline/blog_subscriptions. It shows you all the blogs you receive "notifications" for.

To use it...

Go to your favorite Tumblr blog.

Go to the top right of the blog.

Click "get notifications," and the blog will now show up in the "blog_subscriptions" link.

The best thing is that only blogs you get notifications for will show up here, making it easy to keep up with your favorite blogs. If you want to remove someone from this special dash, you follow the same steps and click "stop notifications" and they will no longer appear.

It's a little annoying that the new profile pic site basically ignores the fact that locs and other ethnic hairstyles exist. But hopefully it will improve over time.

I tried to create one for Kai, Me-Me, and Mason, but they all looked horrible. The site did a decent job with Wade 'Dub' Banks (except he has locs and his eyes are a lighter grey).

The only other sim that came out well was Prosperity "Peri' Banks from Generation 2, but that's because her hair is straighter. Any sim with curly, wavy, or afro-textured hair comes out horrendous.

Thanks so much for this ask! I've been hanging on to it for a while, so sorry for the delay. I realize that I haven't done one of these for Wade 'Dub' Banks since he was a child (Tumblr link). Let's see how much he's changed...

Dub has over 13 traits earned by gameplay and aspiration rewards. Notable ones include a great kisser, incredibly friendly, and cold acclimation (but you'd never guess the last one from how much he complains about cold weather).

Dub never outgrew the squeamish trait. (Let's wish him luck when it's time to change diapers.)

Dub doesn't watch much TV, but when he does, it'll almost always be a fantasy or action movie.

One of Dub's biggest regrets is welcoming Maia's cat, Luna, to the household. But he loves Maia, so he reluctantly puts up with the cat.

Dub is actively planning a few big surprises for Maia involving their future together.
