Hi. So, uh... it's been a while. And after all this time, I think it's time to be honest with myself and admit that this animatic is probably never going to be finished. I started it when I'd only watched a couple POVs of Third Life and it really shows in the designs. Some of them aren't bad - I still like how I drew Tango - but enough of them have details wrong or just weird vibes that continuing to draw them is kinda dissatisfying. That being said, I put a lot of work into it and didn't want to let it just die without saying anything, so here's a collection of GIFs from the few scenes I managed to get edited.

For the record, I am still on the Hermitcraft/Life Series brainrot train and I have some drawings that I've been working on that I genuinely like. So hopefully those will be done soon! Just as soon as I finish that one project that I started eight years ago. But it's getting there! I swear!

Update Saturday! I genuinely considered doing the whole thing over in black-and-white because backgrounds are awful. I hate them so much. They’re so hard and it makes me sad. But I will persist! The only way to get better is to keep trying.

Update Saturday! I spent... probably way longer on this one frame than I should have, but I was playing around with the acrylic brush and then accidentally screwed up my watercolor settings somehow, and for the longest time I just couldn’t get the lighting to look right. But I figured it out eventually, and now it’s okay again!

Update Saturday! I accidentally maxed out the layer count on the title card, oops. Ended up having to split it into multiple files. This hammers home the fact that I don’t actually know how to do art and am completely making things up as I go.

Update Saturday! This week has been pretty busy so I didn’t get a lot done, but I did some stuff at least. Not to sure about the colors or composition, we’ll have to see how it looks when I put it in sequence with the other frames. May end up changing it.

Update Saturday! Still working on that group shot. I keep running into a composition problem because I want to keep the main duos together and also have Grian in the middle: If the Flower Husbands and Crastle duo are on the same side of the lineup, that side has a disproportionate amount of blue; if Crastle duo and Renchanting are on the same side, the silhouette looks wrong because both Martyn and Bdubs are crouching; if Renchanting and Flower Husbands are on the same side, there’s an uneven balance in bright colors. Either I have to split them up, redraw a couple of them, or leave it as is and I don’t like that.

But hey, it’s MCC day! That’s fun.

Update Saturday! I got sidetracked by that Double Life drawing and also started a new job, so I didn’t get much done this week so you can have an older frame. More importantly, I am struggling with the temptation to use luminosity layers. I love the effect but it’s not the look I’m going for with this animatic, and I thought I was fine with that until I let myself use them on the Double Life drawing and now I just really want to make everything shiny and glowy and pretty.

Update Saturday! I feel like I’ve been slowing down a lot on my progress because I did all the frames I had a strong vision for first, and now I’m left with the ones that are harder. So that’s a point in the favor of going all the rough sketches first like I did in my Indefinite animatic. I’ve looked into getting some actual animation software, but those cost money so for now I’ll keep using my horrible inefficient methods.

Update Saturday! This is another old frame because I once again got nothing done this week. I kinda sorta got super sick and couldn’t use the computer without feeling like I was going to throw up, but I’ve been doing better the past couple of days so hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things.
