you’re borrowing your boyfriend!jason todd’s…
hoodie
it’s big, it’s warm, and it smells like your big warm boyfriend. of course you stole it. luckily jason runs hot..or that’s what he tells you at least. the man gets cold too, but he’d never tell you that. not when you look so cozy in his sweatshirt.
sweats
your favorite thing of his to match with his hoodie. his sweatpants are super warm, super soft, and super baggy. meant for ultimate comfort. jason loves it when you go full out sweatsuit in his clothes. like, loves it. you’re like his own personal teddy bear to hold on to while he falls asleep. who needs sweats when he has you to keep him warm..in his.
t shirt
sometimes, when the weather’s warmer, you’ll steal one of jason’s shirts to thrown on over a pair of panties. you’re oblivious to the fact that this combination makes jason go absolutely buck wild. somehow you’ve never made the connection. but more than once he’s found you sprawled across the couch, watching tv, and ended up going down on you. his head nestled between your thighs as you grip his raven locks. his hands are fisted into the loose fabric of his shirt that you’re wearing. he’s not satisfied until your legs are shaking, your moans intermingling with the wet, borderline pornographic, sounds that he’s creating with his mouth on your clit. he never lets you get him back either, even though you know he was grinding his crotch against the couch, chasing that sweet friction and release along with you. but he always just sits you atop his lap after, kissing your cheek as he brushes your hair out of your face. grips your thigh as he makes a comment about the show playing, your panties long forgotten on the floor.
underwear
you never get very far wearing a pair of your boyfriend’s boxers. for one, they’re pretty loose on you, so you have to roll the waistband a couple times, which just gives jason a prime view of your ass. they also just make it so easy for him to get his hand down the front, his strong fingers expertly finding your clit like he’s memorized a map of your body. which, in some ways, he has. it’s not long before you’ve come, once, twice, almost a third time, and he’s pulling his own boxers off to free his stiff cock. it points out, the tip leaking, and you’re opening your legs wider without even realizing it. he grabs your waist, sliding you closer to the edge of the bed, making sure you’re ready before he slides in, burying himself in you. he bottoms out, and you’re throwing your head back, a third orgasm threatening to crest as he starts up a rhythm. the muscles of his stomach ripple as he thrusts in and out. one of his hands is on your waist, the other slowly snaking its way back down to your clit. your toes curl at the feel of his calloused thumb rubbing circles on that sensitive bundle of nerves. he’s groaning, low in his throat, at the way you look on his cock. it never gets old for him, ever. the way your cheeks flush, how adorable your blown out pupils are when you look up at him. your wet lashes, your messy hair. your entrance clenches around his cock as you come a third time, your hands gripping the bed sheets. jason comes along with you, groaning loudly as he paints your insides with white ropes of cum. he pulls out, wetting a washcloth in the bathroom. the wet, warm fabric feels like heaven against your sensitive folds, your boyfriend wiping away the mixture of fluids between your legs. you feel pleasantly boneless, sinking into the pillows at the head of the bed. your boyfriend cleans himself up after, settling into bed next to you. jason wraps his strong arms around you, and it’s better than any clothes you might steal. but what you don’t know, is that he’d let you steal his clothes anytime.

Happy Mermay gamers!! To celebrate I ate a gummy bear and wrote an ENTIRE 60 Chapter mermaid Krerdly fanfic just last night!! Not really but trust me I am tempted, instead here’s something smaller because I found the concept funny. I call this one… “Fishing For Crits”!
EXT. SECLUDED ROCKY SHORE SIDE - SUNSET
Merbird Berdly, posing tentatively against a rock with soggy feathers: I concur, you WOULD make good company for my impending excursions… alas, the only way for us to walk along the same soil is if I beseech THE SEA WITCH *lightning strike x4* to grant me a pair of stick-structured chicken legs and you’d be a PLEBIAN to think I’d go to such lengths for a single travel companion- ACK!
Kris cannonballs into the water, splashing the avi-phibian and further dampening his vaguely water resistant feathers.
Kris, grinning cheekily behind their already kelp-filled hair: Lets go turn me into a merperson.
Kris snatches up Berdly’s wing in their fishnet-styled, fingerless glove covered hands and watches him expectantly.
Berdly, adjusting his glasses (GOGGLES??) as his seafoam irises glimmer: Y-yes! Lets!
-one epic five-minute-swim adventure later-
Kris with their head in an air bubble: *signing at Catti that ghoul should totally give them gills and shit*
Catti with tentacle hair or whatever: k *blasts them with dark magic*
And then Kris swims out the door and shows Berdly (who was required to wait outside) that they are a mer now!!!! YAY!! Then the two of them go off to dress up and travel together and MAYBE fall in love, idk… you can’t really say for sure… its up to interpretation, really… (they eventually make a habit of gazing longingly into each others’ eyes and exchanging ocean facts late into the night as they lock their tails together and lay alongside one another at the bottom of the sea).
The End!!!!
Okie that was fun, I’m just gonna type a bunch of randomly selected but definitely Deltarune related thoughts down now. :P
You won’t even believe which character I’m not done talking excessively about yet- it’s CATTI!! This demigirl just unlocked a new pronoun and by the goddess it is he. WOOHOO! Rockin that She/He/Ghoul swag… I probably won’t actively use it in my w.i.p fics because there’s almost always someone with a he pronoun on screen and I don’t want all that stuff to get jumbled up but it will DEFINITELY be in the fic tags and perhaps actively said by Catti ghoulself. YAYAYA!! Y’all have no idea how long I’ve been itching to post about this, applying the he pronoun to ghoul just makes so much sense to me idk how to describe it but yeah. YEAH!
I’m genuinely terrified of writing a Catti POV fic thing because I love a good side character that makes a lasting impression but I could TOTALLY flesh ghoul out more if I tried… maybe after I get through my current projects I’ll consider it.
SPEAKING OF PROJECTS!! I may or may not have three now. Derp. The new one is smaller and I’ll probably be done with it first to get it out of the way but I don’t plan to post it until the first two projects are done but yeah. Don’t think I’m going to do a Halloween fic afterall ;n; but there’s always next year.
Btw this is random but in my first ever Krerdly fic I had the two attend this thing called Alternative Prom and apparently that doesn’t… HAPPEN in the mainland?? I feel like I made it pretty clear what it was but I’m making a callback to it in my super secret fourth project *GASP* so I mine as well address it: Alternative Prom is a dance held specifically for LGBTQ+ teens, basically. I went once when I was in 8th grade and it was MAGICAL y’all… and then I proceeded to NEVER GET TO GO AGAIN because it got cancelled due to covid hitting during my freshman year and it hadn’t recovered by the time I graduated my senior year (this year) so yeah. I really hope it comes back for the future teens tho!! I MIGHT be romanticizing it a bit but oh my godssss was it such a fun night. I still have the rainbow flower crown and pin as a souvenir. I used to wear my pride shit to school like allll the time, I was a rainbow princex and shit!!! Hell yeah!! I’m a frickin inspiration!!
Ok ok less about me now. I lowkey already outright said so in my Valentines fic but I headcanon that Kris and Catti are exes, right? Well it’s about time that I reveal the dramatic story behind their breakup… Kris wanted to kindate Beastboy and Raven from Teen Titan with ghoul and when ghoul said no it was all over. </3 I hope I didn’t make anyone too emotional with that one. /s
BY THE WAY… a new challenger might have entered the ring that is my infested brain. I’m definitely not gonna tell you guys because it’s my little secret OK FINE it’s M.K!! They are the guy ever and I’m DEFINITELY biased due to their iconic role in Undertale (ty Ask Frisk and Co. ask blog for changing my life for the better). Anyway so yeah they’re awesome and they’re precious and if I’m alone for two seconds I’m going to start shipping them with everybody so. Uhm. Idk if the world is ready for my M.K x Berdly rare pair…
BUT THEY BETTER BE READY FOR CATSEI because it’s been festering in my mind an d oo ooh my g osh… it is so based……………. almost too based, honestly. Like in my headcanon-ing brain the puzzle pieces fit together really well (fashionista x fashion designer) but I don’t. Know... there’s like a mental block that’s not letting me enjoy much past the original idea of their first meeting. If I try to envision their domestic life together I end up with big blurry blanks in the picture where their bodies should be. Which is PRECISELY WHY in my SUPER SECRET FOURTH PROJECT that isn’t super secret anymore they will undertake a magical adventure together through a dark world and tighten their bonds and Jockington will tag along and maybe put them in precarious situations and help them… do something idk it’s just a spontaneously slapped on B-Plot addition to one of my older Krerdly fic ideas but idk maybe something beautiful will bloom out of it!! IN DUE TIME, because it’s gonna take a while. Yea yea yea. Plus I need the excuse to write Ralsei more. His jolly little clap has been one of my dominating stims for a while now.
Also!! Also!!!!! Uhm!! @v@‘ Not super related at all but as I briefly mentioned I finished high school recently and it’s scary (bad thing) and I’m not in contact with anyone I know from there anymore (good thing) and like I’m kind of a bump on a log that’s in dire need of a job (the library thing was a student position) and am definitely nearing a low mentally (very bad thing) BUT I am battling so hard and writing helps so much (it’s like the only active thing in my life right now lol) and yeah… it’s giving going into chat rooms in Amino and telling people I’m depressed (NOT SOMETHING I DID I SWEAR)
As a reward for making it this far here’s two out of four of my outfit boards for my not-so-secret third project that isn’t coming out anytime soon!! Once again featuring my ultra cringe sprite edit of Kris that gets me giggling every time and doesn’t even apply here because both of their eyes will be concealed in this one but yeah!

so to me, one of the hallmarks of a good piece of media is people willingly thinking about the characters after it’s over.
obviously, this isn’t like, a 100% success rate kind of thing. there are objectively good, enjoyable pieces of media out there that have no “fandom” type presence on the internet, because, while it exhibited great worldbuilding/storytelling/framing/what have you, it just wasn’t made up of the kinds of characters that people latch on to; the joke about avatar (2009) having less than 100 fics on ao3 despite being the best selling movie of all time for a solid decade is well known because of this phenomenon exactly. amazing cgi, solid plot, but at the end of the day, not that many people cared about jake sully. even still, i think this character-imprinting thing has an important, often overlooked role in intrinsically endearing people to movies that, outside of this factor, might be easily forgettable or even outright disliked.
case in point: my movie of the day/week/month (how often do i post on this blog, anyway?)....
that’s right, lads, today i’m going to talk about the lost boys.
if you’ve seen the lost boys, you’ll probably know that it’s not like, objectively, a masterpiece. in fact, if i were feeling particularly uncharitable, it would be easy for me to describe it as a fairly straightforward, low-budget horror b-movie, with a aesop-heavy and simplistic plot and a penchant for cheesy special effects, saved only by its rockin’ soundtrack.
...but i won’t.
i won’t, because using that description would leave out a detail i think it’s completely unfair of me not to touch on: the characters. i love them!! i was hooked from just about the very start of the movie by david’s creepy, affably evil leadership style, sam’s dorky little brother-ness, and michael’s 3cool5school airs. each of the characters, down to the frog brothers (named edgar and allan after the esteemed mr. poe, which really tickled me), the other lost boys, grandpa, lucy, and max, have their own distinct quirkiness that makes them memorable and draws me to want to explore more of their world, more of their stories.
not enough to watch the infamous direct-to-dvd sequels, of course, but you get what i’m saying.
there’s an old tip in writing that says something along the lines of “good characters can save a bad plot, but a good plot can’t save bad characters,” and that pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly on this movie. like, the plot itself is pretty much the message ‘peer pressure is bad’ wrapped up in some ugly monster makeup; not exactly cult classic material. however, like i’ve said, the characters and the fact that we get genuine, endearing interactions between them outside of just furthering the plot save it from the dumpster fire and, together, put together a story greater than the sum of its parts. no, it’s not a fuckin’ cinematic masterpiece by any stretch of the words, but it’s a fun movie, and there’s a reason i’ve watched it four times in the past three days, you know?
(a good chunk of that reason was me slowly losing my grip on my sanity as i frantically put in the dvd over and over again, desperately trying to make myself attracted to kiefer sutherland so i could enjoy the movie to the fullest extent of my ability. i’m proud to announce a perfect success rate, and a slightly degraded sense of taste in men, reflecting the completion of that goal.
if you too want to find something to lust after beyond his objectively ugly as sin face, trust me when i say it’s all in the voice. mmmmm)
my favorite thing that the lost boys did was the exploration of different types of friendship and familial bonds. that’s the most striking thing about the movie for me; not only are the characters individuals whom i would like to explore, their interactions with each other are touching and worth exploring in their own right. there’s definitely something about some stories that drives people to write fanfiction (or is that just me? ha ha), and imo, the lost boys totally has it. in fact, while the fandom is sitting pretty at 600+ fics on ao3 (take that, avatar), i was honestly sort of surprised there weren’t more, exploring all the interesting ‘what if’s’ the film presented, and expounding on the bonds that we got to see the effects of in the limited screentime we had.
what i liked about those bonds was that there were such a multitude of them. there were quite a few platonic bonds making up the crux of the movie (being, in my opinion, much more interesting than the main romantic bond which was explored through star and michael, although isn’t that kind of always the case in these 80′s teen movies? i can’t think of a single designated couple i was actually invested in except for veronica sawyer and jason dean... ferris bueller and sloane peterson, maybe? but i also feel like those two were making a cameron sandwich, so idk if it counts lol), but the way they were treated was cool in that they were unique: we got to see two different kinds of sibling bonds, with michael and sam emerson joking around in an easy, teasing way that totally screamed “wow, this movie was written by someone who actually has a brother” to me (isn’t it sad that some people have clearly never so much as seen a set of siblings in their life, judging by the way they write them?) while edgar and allan frog seem to take themselves more seriously, like a pair of army buddies, we got to see the pack-like bond of the lost boys and the (mostly) good-natured way they hazed michael into their group before things went to shit with them, we got to see star (and some of the lost boys, if you pay attention) being protective and maternal around laddie, and we got to see the uneasy alliance turned nerdy friendship between the frogs and sam. there are also three parent-child bonds that get explored, between lucy and her father (it’s a pretty sweet take on the kindhearted grown child taking care of senile-ish father thing) and lucy and her boys, each of which she has a distinct relationship with: sam is the baby, while michael she seems to level with and trust more, even after he starts getting into trouble and acting up.
then of course there are two (three, if you count the widow johnson/grandpa emerson subplot, which.... i totally do) romantic relationships: star and michael falling in a sort of love-at-first-sight passionate relationship that soon dooms mikey and eventually saves star, while lucy tries her best to get back into the dating game with max, who is nefarious, of course, but also a little bit sad. remember what i said about what-ifs? i would love to see a fic exploring what might have happened had max’s plan worked out after all, but i guess that’s neither here nor there.
not to be a blatant slash shipper jumping on any two male characters who move or anything, but i think possibly the most important/influential relationship in the whole thing was that between david and michael; michael, obviously, got drawn into the lost boys’ circle by his insta-attraction to star, but he sticks around because of david. he pretty much ignores star once they get to the cliff that night, his attention focused on david because he’s there, and he’s intense, and michael is kind of a dumb bi bitch totally captivated. he drinks max’s blood at david’s taunting, and in direct opposition to star’s advice. there’s a lot i could say on this subject but tbh i’m running out of steam, so that might be a thing for a whole different post.
basically, there are a lot of cool interactions in this movie, and i think a lot of film makers could take note of that. even critically acclaimed, award winning movies being made in today’s world tend to fail to hit that special note, that character-imprintation which makes the audience not only stay engaged to the end, but also to care. not every movie needs that, of course; not everything can launch a darkhorse fandom the way the lost boys has, and honestly, not everything should... unless it’s trying to cater to my interests, in which case, well.
if all movies were made to cater to my interests, i would have the time of my fucking life, but it’d probably be dark days for the rest of y’all.
thinking about it now, the lack of that element is kind of what makes me wary of the horror genre in the first place; i find so many of those movies just boring as all hell, because they’re too into the “scaring” thing without any of the “caring” thing. people, if we don’t care about the characters we’re watching, then who the fuck gives a shit if they get devoured by shitsucking vampires, anyway? finding the lost boys, a “horror” (i guess i use the term loosely) movie which relied heavily on those character interactions was honestly a godsend, because THIS is what i want to see more of. going down that line of thought, i think it’s honestly a shame and a half that the sequels which joel schumacher planned never got to see the light of day (and, of course, that we were instead left with the tribe, which for the life of me i refuse to fucking watch). the interactions between the lost boys could have been the most interesting part of the movie, if only they had been spotlighted a bit more. that would have been the case in the proposed prequel, the beginning, which would see the boys start out before they became vampires at all. reading about the script for that is honestly sending me, tbh. we could have seen that, and what we got instead were “sequels” that focused mainly on the frogs, when they connected to the original movie at all? where’s the fucking justice?
whatever. that’s the one thing about this franchise i never could stomach; all the damn frog brothers.
(till next time!)

S1 Rewatch - Maggie’s Take [ 1.04 ]
i’m healed, i’m coming back from the brink... back just in time for more AAA...
Favorite scene
There are a lot of highlights this episode as we’re just beginning to settle into our new digs... but it would be remiss for me not to give the point to the original RL scene. Their first actual conversation while Christmas tree shopping is perhaps the most awkward yet satisfying opening into a relationship. Like... they’re both fully stupid. Would you consider yourself a tree expert... Lucas getting stuck on the snow on her eyelashes... Riley almost straight up wiping his eyes for him and him being like I got two hands... like... HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA --
(But then for that line to be called back to 8 episodes later in such a different context... well!)
Favorite performance
Although the diva’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” would be comedy gold, there is NO competition here for “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” This is one of the best performances IN the SERIES. The diva quality, Maya pushing each of the boys over, Charlie & Zay subtly agreeing that Farkle is the seasick crocodile out of the three of them and Farkle being like tf y’all... Nigel Chey’s violin stylings... like this is god tier.
Favorite character (within context of the episode)
Weirdly enough, it’s somewhere between Maya and Farkle. Maya made points with her iconic performances (all 3 of them) and her lesson about her mother and what makes a performance meaningful,,, but I think Farkle just might win. His endeavor to write his own Jewish holiday song, him singing with Ezra and totally delighting him without even realizing it, his snarky line to Riley about how she’s not caught up yet, his earnest and forlorn “well... have fun... without me...” and then getting all excited when he gets invited to go to the diner... he just feels very alive in all facets of his personality this episode, and I love that about him. So he wins.
Favorite line(s)
“Well, maybe it doesn’t take a man. Maybe it takes a scrappy, plucky gal with cute brown eyes and… questionable hand-eye coordination.” --Riley Matthews
“I’ll eat both of you alive.” --Farkle Minkus
“No one asked for a speech!” —Zay Babineaux, to Maya Hart
“Well, that’s what the laundry basket was for.” –Jack Hunter
An underrated moment
Purely the ship bias talking here, but when the techies lean around the building to sneak in and Riley starts to ask a question and Lucas lightly shushes her... yeah. That does Hit.
First impression vs your reread impression
I honestly didn’t remember how much fun there is in this episode. I think the impending drama of 1.05 kind of looms over it, but there’s a lot of small fun little details in here that I’m proud of. Isadora calling Dasher “gremlins,” or Jack and Shawn discussing their holidays as kids and how that’s shaped who they are now, Charlie and Riley’s hug after performing “The First Noel” ... There’s just a lot I enjoy. Oh, also Riley saying take me for a test drive and Lucas almost choking. Ah, we love beginnings...

Rules:  Post the first line of your last 10 published fics, then tag 10 people.
(Excluding the art post, and also the collabs with Desert because I didn’t ask his permission and it’s really all his writing; I just edited.)
(Substituting first line with first paragraph. Some of these are going to be hilarious...)
Burnin’:
Fuck Spring.
Mementoes:
Valentine cycled out of his diagnostic at the sound of Ellie's chair scraping against the floorboards as she pushed back from her desk, and glanced up at her as she let out a quiet groan of pain as she stretched for the cane she had forgotten she had propped against the filing cabinets just out of reach.
Goodneighbor Good Rockin':
When Boss... er, Nora... came out of the en-suite dressed in her smokin' hot silver dress, MacCready had done an admirable job of not staring at her. Or at least not where she could see him. He failed spectacularly as she paused in front of the door, back still to him, checking the caps in her handbag and tugging slightly at her hem.
Things We Can't Say: (collab with CrackingLamb)
Nora only had a split second between the guttural roar and Deacon's shout of "YAO GEE-OH!" to swing her shotgun around and squeeze off a shot as the massive yao guai came barreling through the scrub brush straight for her. It was a lucky hit, peppering the beast's face with buckshot and hindering it just enough that its wild flailing claws missed her by inches.
Flowers for my Valentine:
"Stop!" Nora shouted, grabbing a handful of Valentine's trench coat and yanking him backwards.
Adjustment Period:
Nearly a month, and he still wasn't used to it.
Mornings and Moments:
There may be better ways to wake up in the morning, but Nora couldn't think of any at the moment as Deegan continued to lazily run his rough fingers along the inside of her arm. Neither of them seemed to have moved all night, still spooned together as they had been when they'd fallen asleep after... well.
Between Want and Need:
(Okay, that one is too NSFW to post. *blushes*)
Seven Minutes:
Nora loved the Slog. Sure, a few of the other Minutemen protected settlements had better conveniences, but the Slog had a charm that appealed to her. Or rather, she thought as virtually the entire crew came out to meet her, it was the charm of the residents.
Honey:
"I wouldn't bother. They'd clash with your style," Daisy said with a chuckle as she stepped off the last stair, returning to her storefront.
Tagging... Well, Lamb kinda hit all of them, too. And I don’t know that many folks. Still, if you want to take the challenge from me, please tag me back. I’d love to read y’all’s.

2017 Year In Review - Tumblr Edition
It’s really here, isn’t it, guys? 2017 is nearly over, 2018 is nearly here. I’ve wanted to make a post about this for a couple of weeks now, but this and that has happened and I finally have a little bit to really get this out there. I want to take this time to look back on people I’ve met and/or talked a lot with this year, ones who have really brightened things up when things have gone from bad to worse over 2017. I guess it’s more a callout “thank you” than a real year in review, but oh well. Also I’m typing this up on my laptop and I almost exclusively use Tumblr mobile so bear with the blandness of this. Let’s just jump right into it! Putting a read more cause this is kind of a long thingy
@galecsybuns - Where do I even begin? I know i didn’t meet you this year, but talking to you has certainly helped me out across all the crazy shit happening this year. I know it isn’t all too often, but I’m alright with that. You’re a good friend and I’m happy to have gotten to know you like I have. Maybe next year we can actually see each other! P.S. Your art is still rockin, don’t ever be afraid to spam me with what you’re working on; I’d love to see it and admire how cool it is! I’ve actually still got that drawing you made of me with my headphones and the “HECK” hoodie, it’s up with other important things that remind me of good friends. Here’s to another awesome year of friendship!
@sinish-tem - My guy, you’re certainly an interesting friend. It was kind of surprising to see someone ask me of all people about what Kingdom Hearts was, but I’m happy you did, because a great friendship blossomed from that question. Granted, when I was first answering, I was running on about two hours of sleep and pure excitement, but it seems to have worked out well enough. You’re not annoying or pushy or any of that stuff. You’re a good, loyal friend who has a lot to say and even more to ask, and that curiosity is what drew me to you. I may not always get back to you in a timely manner, but I promise I see everything you send and tag me in, you’re not ignored! I’ll probably end up doing a lot more videos and live streams this year, maybe if timing works out you could join me? I’ll have a lot of Kingdom Hearts content since KH3 is coming out, look forward to it!
@cutegirlmayra - I started talking with you waaayyyyyy in the beginning of this year, kinda crazy to think about because it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, but here we are! I know we haven’t talked much recently as when we first met, but that doesn’t mean I think of you as any less of a friend! It always warms my heart seeing your writing prompts or just general opinions you have of Sonic related things. Maybe we can talk some more soon? Miss you bestie~
@sweets-paradise - Also didn’t meet you in 2017 but I love when we talk about things we enjoy and when I see your art and generally just whenever you’re on my dash or in my notifications. I hope you’re doing well and that we can both get even more excited together for the Klonoa movie, whenever that does come out. You know I’ll be hitting you up here or on twitter! Hope things are going well for you, friend.
Next up, I wanted to use this part to mention some people I’ve followed this year who maybe I haven’t directly interacted with, but have helped me out indirectly for the content they post.
@markiplier - I just had to say it, buddy. This man somehow brings a smile to my face any time I watch one of his videos, and I definitely needed some smiles this year. Thanks a ton, Mark.
@speeps-highway - Sonic Adventure is my favorite video game of all time, so getting to learn more about it or seeing previously exclusive content makes me happy, like I’m finding a whole new layer of fun with the game. I’ve seen a couple of your videos on YouTube, keep up the awesome work.
@drawloverlala - If it isn’t obvious yet, I love Sonic the Hedgehog. This person here made one of, if not my top favorite AU for Sonic, and the art is simply stunning. I go back to it just to admire the style and detail put into it, and discovering that you were the artist this year made me jump with joy because I already loved your other pieces before that.
@momoppi - Also only talked a bit here and there, but the art you make is beautiful and gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I see it. Thank you for creating what you do, you’ve helped out in more ways than you could think.
@miracletails - I found out you’re like best buddies with Ria, and seeing you guys interact on Twitter always manages to make me smile. Your art is also adorable and I just wanted to make sure I said that for the billionth time because y’all are great friends and I’m happy I found you through her. Hope your life is going well, friend.
@sonicthehedgehog - What a crazy exciting year it’s been for the blue blur. Here’s to another 25 years of fast fun! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Whew, that’s quite a bit of people from this past year. And that’s only people I mostly interact with here on Tumblr! Sorry if I missed anyone, I’m very exhausted from this year and those were the only ones I could think of off the top of my head! If you wanna talk more, don’t be shy to hit me up on here! Or if you use other media instead, just drop a message with your name and preferred media choice and I’ll hit you up there! To everyone I’ve met through this site, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the best in 2018 with whatever you choose to do, so from me to you, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
-Josh

Post #53–Ted Russell Kamp, Down in the Den
Reviewed by Lyssa Culbertson
When I first laid eyes upon Down in the Den, the latest release from roots artist Ted Russell Kamp, I was instantly hit with a 70s sort of vinyl record vibe from the cover art and design of the material. ‘Twas right up my alley already by the looks of it and I had the feeling I’d dig it, though not wanting to judge a CD by it’s case so to speak, I promptly inserted the new release into my car’s CD player and hit the road. What I heard along my journey was definitive of the artist Kamp is—eclectic, unique, and full of influences spanning decades of musical styles.
With this record, releasing to all platforms on July 24th, it’s obvious Kamp is a man of many talents and a master musician to boot; he effortlessly plays many styles of music and deftly intertwines them into a sound all his own—quite the impressive feat. It’s difficult to label Down in the Den as any particular genre of music, as it’s full of different sounds and utilizes a wide range of instruments to create that distinctive sound—which is perfect, because I feel the best music cannot be pigeonholed, it’s simply felt and exists absent of any categorization restrictions. Influences of soul, gospel, blues, roots, Americana, and country are woven through the diverse mix of tracks on the record, and it works quite beautifully. The record is heavy laden with vibes of Memphis soul mixed with hints of New Orleans and softer, sentimental singer-songwriter pieces and it works so well.
The title track, “Home Sweet Hollywood” features Kamp’s bandmate Shooter Jennings as a duet partner and is full of humorous, yet truthful, nods to what life is like in Tinseltown. It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek but full of wise advice to artists of the world: always make sure the work is more important than the rewards and accolades you may receive. Kamp is preaching to the choir, as that is a lesson everyone needs reminding of in today’s rat race. Money is necessary, yet the root of all evil, so make sure you’re focusing on feeding your soul and not solely on filling your pockets!
If track one doesn’t solidify your opinion of Kamp’s impeccable artistry, you must “Have Some Faith” in track number two. The first tune on the record with the melancholy singer-songwriter vibes I live for paired with an almost haunting bluesy mood possesses a beautiful melody full of slick guitar riffs with lyrics oozing heartache as an ode to a broken relationship. In this song, the character cannot get over what he and an ex-lover had and is begging her to have some faith and see it through. While heart-wrenching, Kamp’s songwriting here lends a relatable edge to the notion of broken bonds once thought to be forged in steel, but alas, even steel can cannot withstand everything.
A continuation of the theme of lost lovers, albeit in a more upbeat way, is found in “Waste A Little Time With Me,” which is one of my favorites off the record. Already by track three Kamp has explored several styles of music in the production, and this tune has a bit of a 50s feel with a rockin’ piano solo reminiscent of some of my most-loved Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard jams. The lovers here are seemingly not lost in the abyss of time, but rather have lost each other in the day-to-day grind of life. What better way to rediscover your lover than by tuning the world out and wasting away a day, or however many it takes?
Following the same notion of trying to hold a relationship together, in “Stick With Me,” Kamp is begging his lost lover to have some faith in the relationship and stay with him versus erecting walls and running away. This song touched my soul because I’ve lived it—I relate so much to the slippery slope of being a flight risk in relationships, on both ends of the spectrum. Words are powerful and all too often the wrong ones manifest into demons from the past that we try to outrun. When Kamp croons “your demons come to get you and you hit the highway,” I feel as if he’s singing directly to me and it triggers something in my heart. In this song, written and performed in a demure singer-songwriter style, Kamp employs a fingerpicking technique and it beautifully adds to the mood of the subject matter. “Stick With Me” is one of the stars of Down in the Den. Listen and let it soak in.
The next track on the record, “Hold On” is also a love song, where Kamp asks his lover to “hold on, and on, and on” and he’ll help her find her way. It’s a bluesy number with a simple chorus, but it packs a punch that I can’t get enough of. Holding onto his songwriting prowess whilst traveling down the musical rails to a bit of a different subject, track number 6, “Hobo Nickel,” also incorporates some latent blues, but is full of trumpets and a rare banjo solo that gives it a life all its own. It’s such a fun tune, and when I first listened it was reminiscent of Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime” with all the different textures and sounds—I dig the groove. The life of the traveling hobo in the song is akin to the life of a traveling musician, and is one I can certainly relate to as a Gypsy soul who follows where the music leads me whilst traveling to write. The freedom of the road that Kamp bemuses is why I, and many others, do what we do. “It ain’t easy, but it’s easy to love, Anybody can join but it’s a mighty small club, Got no destination and no place to be, But it’s an open invitation, Won’t you travel with me?” Those lyrics make me grin like the Cheshire cat, and I suggest you stick your thumb in the wind and let continue to let Kamp take you on a lyrical adventure full of twists and turns—as no track is the same as another.
The final track on Side 1 of the record is “Rainy Day Valentine.” It’s a mellow love song full of metaphors that paint a picture of the love felt for the woman in the song who won’t ever fully be his except in the throes of the literal storms outside and the figurative ones in her mind, despite being a consistent entanglement on those rainy days. With “eyes [that] are like the sunrise on the ocean,” she ebbs and flows like the tide, and he never knows quite when she’ll show. I think that’s a rather permanent state of the human condition to at some point have a person in our lives like that that we hold on to—so magical, yet something intangible that we can’t quite keep as ours, except in our minds. Kamp has a penchant for saying what many are feeling quite poetically, and it is quite evident in his softer songs.
By track eight, you get to the “The Good Part,” an upbeat little ditty reminiscent of exactly what the song is titled, as the chorus details: “The best is yet to come, And the night is still so young, We’re off to a runnin’ start, We’re just gettin’ to the good part. When I first listened to this track, I felt it was a positive sign concerning the remaining nature of the record—and I was correct. So, while I could ramble on for hours about the exemplary artistry found all over this record, I’ll leave you at this sweet spot and let you embark on a musical journey and dive into Side 2 on your own. With tunes like “Word for Word,” “My Turn to Cry,” “Only Son,” and “Saint Severin,” Side 2 of Ted Russell Kamp’s Down in the Den is “Every Little Thing You Need.” Just as Kamp pleads with the listener to “Take My Song With You” in the final track, I urge you to give this record an in depth listen and discover what it truly means to be a jack-of-all-trades and multidimensional artist. Kamp wrote on every song—along with a host of notable songwriters, produced the record himself in his home studio, and played a list of various instruments on every track, and I believe that’s quite the remarkable endeavor, to play and seamlessly incorporate several styles of music convincingly into something definitive of who he is as a musician. His touch is on every part of this record, and it shows profusely in the quality. If you have an open mind and diverse tastes in music like myself, I think you’ll truly enjoy this record—there is something for everyone.
Be sure to follow Kamp on all the social medias and be prepared for the full record to release THIS FRIDAY, but until then, you can enjoy the first two singles released, “Home Sweet Hollywood” and “Have Some Faith.” I’ve got my hobo nickel and I’m hitting the road, so y’all stay groovy and remember—peace, love, & music.

POST #33 - Addison Lea Thompson, “Western Sky”
“This old county’s gettin’ smaller
Roads out of here gettin’ longer
Well I don’t think Lord I can even stay
Blame it on my damned ole ramblin’ ways”
NEWS FLASH: Y’all, by the looks of those lyrics, my little gypsy soul has found it’s new theme song, by way of a honky tonkin’ cowboy out of mountains of Montana—the talented Addison Lea Thompson. The first song off his recently released record Western Sky, “Ramblin’ Ways,” certainly struck a chord with my restless heart because I feel every word of it in the depths of my bones.
I knew thirty seconds in to “Ramblin’ Ways” that I was going to dig what I was about to hear—I could for sure sense the vibe of the record was going to be right up my alley. The last track on the record is aptly named “Fire in the Hole,” and it should have been first to serve as a warning for what my ears were about to hear: positively explosive tunes. By blending his own styles of country music dusted with a bit of blues and backed by a rockin’ rhythm that lends to that quintessential honky tonk sound, Addison has created something all his own. From his birth in Louisiana to his raisin’ in Arkansas before doing life the cowboy way up in the Rocky Mountains, the impact of the roads he’s traveled in life is evident in the stories he weaves through his music.
Speaking of the songs, one moment the heartfelt ones will have you deep in your feelings and the next will have you up boot-stompin’ feeling like you’re at a barn burner and the record has a good mix of the two...however, I’ll start with the “sad” ones. There seems to be a recurring theme of whisky and demons woven throughout Addison’s writing, as evidenced in two of my favorite tracks: “Single Barrel Hell” and “Towards the Light.”
Typically, I feel as if the topic of whisky is overdone in country music today, but it works well here. In “Single Barrel Hell,” Addison sings about a man battling his demons, one of which is the bottle he can’t walk away from. Addiction is a difficult disease to fight, especially when the fiends you’re trying to drink away steadily leave you on your knees wishing you’d disappear. Heavy stuff. But good stuff.
The lyrics in “Single Barrel Hell” almost transcend effortlessly into “Towards the Light,” perhaps as a prequel of sorts. “Sitting on a barstool quoting 3:16, battling his demons while worshipping the King....” Whew...what a way to portray the struggle between good and evil. The addition of the spoken word intro to this song really sets the stage for what is to come—a story of a veteran who served his country just to be left in old age waging a war between addiction and redemption, which is an internal battle many of us face. As his health fails due to the whisky, he’s headed towards the light, yet can’t set the bottle down—he was drowning in that single barrel hell. Tugs on the ‘ol heartstrings and brings a tear or two to my eye! Addison seamlessly wove a line from “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” into the final chorus and aside from it being my favorite hymn ever, it was a perfect way to end this song.
Okay, y’all. Enough sad stuff. Let’s focus on one of the positive jams on the record—the title track, “Western Sky.” The lyrics paint such a vivid portrait of life way up yonder that I can’t help but smile and picture it. In the song, Addison sings about cowboy life, from working the land, to rodeoing, to barn parties and everything in between, and it makes me yearn for home in a place I don’t even know! When words can make you do that, you know it’s good! The main sentiment of this tune is that he wouldn’t change a thing about life, and I just love those good kinda vibes!
Out of all the fab tunes on this record, “Spanish Moss Dream” is my favorite I think...it’s so evocatively written, and seems to me to be a very autobiographical song for Addison about back home. It makes me reminisce about a place I’ve never known, yet one that feels just like the places I’ve roamed. I adore the lyrics and music to it, but the piece of work as a whole is good. Addison released a record that was true blue to him as an artist, and I can’t wait to see how his skill and artistry grows over time. Y’all give all ten tracks on it a listen and let me know what you think! See y’all down the road.
✌🏻❤️🎶

Saturday’s lineup at Tumbleweed was one that had a little bit of something for everyone. Two badass female artists, some legendary artists, a southern rock newcomer and some heavy and western music.
My camp spent Saturday just making friends and hanging out. Unfortunately, we didn’t sit down for an entire set until Whiskey Myers, so we missed most of Tommy Ash, Jaime Wyatt and Randall King. The latter of those 2, I am very familiar with and a big fan of each! I am a bit bummed that I didn’t catch Randall King’s entire set, as I firmly believe he could be the next Cody Johnson and take off. Part of the reason we missed those sets is because we were packing up camp supplies before the storms hit. But we didn’t make it...after 1 trip to the car there was a mandatory evacuation (who knew?). So we all took shelter in our tent to ride out our first Kansas thunderstorm. Let me be honest with y’all, it ain’t no different than a Kentucky storm. It lasted a about an hour and then all was good. And wet. And muddy. And humid. But hey, that’s the making of a music festival, right?
With the mandatory evacuation, Whiskey Myers only got to play a short 45 minute set including some of their more rockin’ songs like “Frogman.” Y’all, I’ve been a fan of these guys ever since I first heard “Ballad of a Southern Man” back in college. They rocked! The sound was just as good as the studio album. Honestly, I can’t wait to catch them again for a full set.
Shortly after their shortened set was done, the legendary Marshall Tucker Band took the stage. Listening to them was kinda nostalgic and took me back to when I was a youngster listening to my parents old cassettes. They played their classics and were so thankful to the crowd for being there. They’re right ya know, it’s people like us that keep real country music alive. As for my review, I was just a fan there, having a good ole time listening to a classic band. I will say that the years are catching up to them boys as you could just hear in their voice that they are getting older. But hey, I saw a shirt one time that said “old and gittin’ it,” and y’all they are. They are still awesome.
Then, around 9:00, it was time for the name that has been thrown around all weekend. It was the boldest name on the flyer and one of the most recognizable names in country music. Alabama took the stage. I could have done without the theatrics and the pre-recorded introduction, but that’s fine, they are big time and I get it. But y’all, we saw Alabama on their 50th anniversary tour! Those guys didn’t have a ton of stage presence, but goodness did they sound good. Again, I was a fan and didn’t write down a set list, but they were freaking awesome and they’ve still got it!
After Alabama finished up, it was time for 2 of the best bands around right now. The Steel Woods and The Comancheros! But, I was outvoted and because of the rain, we left after Alabama. It was a 9 hour dive back to Kentucky (although we only drove to Columbia, MO) and I was informed of how dirty, wet and miserable my better half was. Happy wife, happy life, so we left. However, I have seen both of these bands multiple times before, and I will be seeing them again! Both are making a name for themselves with their style of music and their signature style of clothes. The Comancheros look like a bunch of badasses ready to go after Bonnie and Clyde or ride beside ol Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp. If y’all get a chance go catch of show of either of these groups, you won’t regret it! And I suggest you get their albums too. The Steel Woods latest release “Old News” is a must have. The Comancheros album “Heavy & Western” has been on repeat since I left Tumbleweed a week ago. In the past week I have listened to that album straight through AT LEAST 6 times.
Anyways, that’s my recap on the Tumbleweed lineups day by day. Be on the look out for a final Tumbleweed post that will talk about the Good, Bad , and Ugly of the festival as a whole.
Until then- Peace, Whisky, & Good Music.
-Cheers, N.
