I hate this stupid copyright ad-filled internet. 5 years ago i could look up an anime episode on youtube and watch it (although it might be dub and grainy quality). now when i look up anime on youtube its all youtubers "live reactions" with the actual anime footage censored so they wont come under copyright. The one account that had all of the botw soundtracks on it was taken down and the only way i can listen to them is via CD. i hate it here

Man it really is a shame that as of this date (July 5th, 2023) that Cookie's Bustle is all but scrapped off the web at large.

There's only two videos discussing it directly (and that more about the take downs and not directly the game itself), with everything else turning up no results.

I know some people on twitter were thinking that it was for some sort of relaunch, but at this point I really don't think it's some sort of modern reboot.

This is really a bummer for game preservation. Also a bummer as a person who just likes weird obscure games.

#Cookie's Bustle #there are still some pages like the wikipedia up but everything that has either distributing power or videos has been thoroughly scrubbed #I'm pretty sure Cookie's Bustle still lives on through torrenting and P2P sharing since that's a lot harder to enforce copyrights with #due to the nature of the beast with regards to how that works #but the downside is that you run the risks associated with torrenting stuff if you do decide to get the game through those avenues #it's either that or the case of ''well I know a guy who's got it'' and direct sharing of files which is it's own can of worms #just sad about it since i'm trying to find the vinesauce vod of it for archival write up purposes and it's legitimately real hard to find #since it seems like writing about the game itself doesn't cause a DMCA Takedown these days #and that the copyright troll is now solely targeting gameplay footage as well as file distribution #since websites discussing the game but not distributing it (eg wikipedia & mobygames) still have their pages up

Recently I was passively listening to something about D&D lore and it mentioned that wielding hellfire is very difficult and can drain the user’s vitality or something like that. I thought about Astarion in Palmarosa wondering if the hellfire ritual was taxing for Raphael.

I don’t remember which edition of the game it was talking about or where I heard it because I was multitasking. I was just wondering if that was the case in your story and if it was the reason Raphael seems kinda spent and in need of a long rest. Did he use the last of his strength and/or non-cantrip magic for the day to protect Astarion?

It’s also cool if you don’t want to answer that/give anything away. I was just curious about the lore in this story and figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Thank you for such an enjoyable story and hope you are doing well!

Tbh I don't really see wielding hellfire as being that taxing for Raphael comparatively with other fiends because his father is the unrivaled master of hellfire, and is known as the Lord of Hellfire, and no way did Raphael grow up without a decent amount of mastery at it.

That doesn't mean using it doesn't tax him, it's just... not really comparable, because most fiends were not birthed by, and then raised by, the most adept devil re: hellfire in Ba'ator.

That being said I don't really know all the different versions of lore etc. and I'm not really thinking about cantrips or anything. I think Raphael's tired because he was doing a whole bunch of stuff before he even returned back to see Astarion under one of Verillius' curses, and is moving quickly / on not much energy because he's a true cambion again and doesn't have the energy reservoirs of an ascended pit fiend behind him like he used to.

Generally speaking you can assume that aside from BG3, and some research here and there, I don't actually know much at all about D&D and am just writing fanfiction for fun and so making a lot of stuff up as I go! A lot of the lore in the story will be 'cuz I felt like it' (such as who is staffing Mephistar, and the layout) and then the rest is 'because BG3 said this happened / there's dialogue supporting this' and 'blue Mephistopheles is hotter than red Mephistopheles imho' dsalfksa

But yeah, Mephistopheles is the Lord of Hellfire! Mephistar is made of ice and yet perpetually warm because of hellfire, and even Raphael uses it fairly casually for things like locking and unlocking his vaults (in the story), because even he knows how much it taxes other fiends to use it. Imho that ritual was taxing less because of the hellfire (which he has casually summoned around Astarion in the past) and more because of the intensity of the ritual itself and the fact that he didn't really want to kill Astarion in the process.

So a while back @floorbacon0621 was talking about a hallmark movie where a woman body hijacked a rich lady but then realized all she wanted was family for Christmas.

Cue @emarynn going "eh, sounds boring" and me going "WELL CHALLENGE ACCEPTED."

Woman- gets isekaid into rich lady ML - rich guy whom rich lady is engaged to Rich lady - gets isekaid into woman

Plot: rich lady sees this sad and hectic ADHD family that is just NOT managing holidays well and is giving stress upon stress to each other and is like "all right, imma straighten you all out cause i'm a doctor" and actually starts helping the woman's family cope. Woman's family is like "woah, daughter, college in the city really has changed you. maybe this was a good idea after all." Meanwhile, woman is not at ALL happy to be in rich lady's body and is annoyed with rich guy who is doing his uttermost to scare off rich lady to break off the engagement, but woman isn't gonna do that cause this isn't her life - and rich guy is confused cause it was about to succeed, so what the heck? Woman wasn't really looking forward to the holidays cause her family is SO chaotic and it drives her nuts, and she guesses that this is a great way to escape but…they were expecting her and she still LOVES them, so she's gonna check. Unfortunately, before she can do anything, she's pulled into rich people christmas stuff with rich guy as her confused date. She finds all the bluster and pomp way too annoying and almost worse than her family's chaos but, again, not her life so she doesn't say anything. She likes the food thought, but everything is so fake that it just pricks at her even more until she can't take it and just….leaves the party at one point to hide.

Rich guy comes after her and they have an emotional moment or idk, which now confuses HER cause where was the rude guy? To which he admits he was trying to break up the engagement cause there's someone he loves who is not as wealthy and thought the best way was to act mean. To which the woman, in utter bafflement, is like, "Dude. It's a free country. Just…..break it off? You're over the age? Is there like any formal contract?" "Uh…no" "??????????? Then why don't you just break it off?" "They'll disown me. I don't have any job experience!" "??? Are you serious? You're in training to be the CEO? And you have a college degree? Just….use that to get a job???" "Oh…." "Uh huh." Anyway, cue woman accidentally making things better without even meaning to in her comedic shenanigans to just CALL HOME and see how everyone's doing, interspersed with cuts from rich girl who is having a blast organizing everything but thinks she should probably find a way to get back to her body cause being an heiress is great.

Anyway, blah blah blah, magic of Christmas, switcheroo goes back to normal after they meet and tell them all the happenstances ("you broke off my engagement?" "NO! What version of the DSM does Terra use? It can't be the DSM-5, because Nightmare is still listed as having Multiple Personality Disorder instead of Dissociative Identity Disorder, but it can't be any other edition, because PRTS mentions ASD in optional Ch.7 dialogue, and ASD was only given that name instead of being split up across Autism, Aspergers, etc. in the DSM-5 Logically this concludes that there's a disjointed unique Terra DSM or other manual of mental disorders. A Lil AEG Ramble

So I started watching All Engines Go the other day - both out of curiosity and boredom - and like, it’s fine? It’s nothing special and there’s always going to be that feeling of ‘This is what they replaced the og series with?’ but I don’t think it’s as bad as everybody says it is. That being said, it’s not great either.

Like, I think the main thing that stops it from being like HiT era quality (Which doesn’t sound much better now that I think about it) is stuff like the wheel hands and the jumping off the rails.

Personally, I can deal with there being actual child, teen (Is Ashima a teenager? That’s what I’ve been hearing), and adult engines. It raises a lot of weird questions, but I can deal with it. I can deal with the basic ass season nine plots. But the noodle axles and shit is a bit much.

And I’m not sure where I stand on the show as a whole? Cos I think the character designs are cute. Most of them, at least. Some of the music makes me weirdly nostalgic for 2000′s era Nick Jr. for some reason? And I think some of the episodes could fit in the original series with some tweaking (A Thomas Promise, A Quiet Delivery, and Kana Goes Slow all come to mind.). And I think I’d be fine and not care either way if it was running alongside the original series.

But it isn’t.

If Mattel had kept doing the original show, as BWBA or just normal Thomas, and marketed AEG as a side series geared towards an even younger audience, sort of like how Hasbro had Trasformers: Prime and Transformers: Rescue Bots, that would have been fine. Fans of the old series would have been happy and new fans could have a good jumping on point. But they canned the old show (I think because of low toy sales and lower views? Don’t quote me on that) and replaced it with All Engines Go.

I don’t know, dude. Like, I know there are people young and old who really enjoy All Engines Go, and that’s fine. I like stuff like Misty Island Rescue and season fifteen. I’m the absolute last person to give other people grief for what they like. But me personally? I’m probably gonna finish season one and the movie, maybe watch a couple Bruno and Ashima episodes, and be done with it.
