wanted to add to this, a more detailed opinion\explanation (??) about betty’s gaslighting arc. bc we see armando demand why she didn't tell him that that she knew about the plan and the letter. 

we know she wishes it wasn’t real, that she hopes it a very sick joke. we see her test the waters; her watching him read it, throwing it away. she keeps a copy of it and watches his moves fm then on. her decision to fuck with him isn’t premeditated, it comes at the result of knowing him. she’s seen first hand how he treats marcela (and how marcela treats him).

the night of the picasso exhibit, when they’re in the car and marcela calls him and he goes off on her, saying he’s not with anyone and betty’s face as he’s yelling at marcela--

she’s genuinely like, ‘hey, wtf is wrong with him?’. bc its so extreme. she’s seen them fight, but this is like, first hand where she only sees his side of it. and after the phone call she goes on to say,  ‘i feel bad, on top of all the lies, and you mistreating her (marcela). no, i dont feel great about it’. 

fast forward to nicolas, later on asks betty ‘when are you gonna tell him you know? or are you just going to keep doing this?’ but again, betty knows armando--knows the worst of him despite loving him. if she had confronted him about it the day she knew, he would have denied it like he denies cheating on marcela to marcela’s face. 

look, it was gaslight or be gaslit. 

a lot of fics that play with ‘if he knew when she knew, this would have happened’ don’t understand that armando is not emotionally there yet. he’s yet to grasp the depth of his feelings or understand the affect his actions have on her. if betty had confronted him that day or even the next, armando would have done everything in his power to lie, make her believe it IS a sick joke. anything to not lose her. he never would have admitted to his part in the plan. and betty knows this bc she’s seen him do this to marcela time and time again. 

so she plays armando’s (and mario’s) own game. her choices are limited. she sticks to this and the only way that she will stop is if (1) he stops following the instructions of the letter or (2) he realizes that she knows and confronts HER about it. she wants HIM to to admit to HER what he’s done. 

but he doesn’t. and when he finally knows why she’s acted this way, its too late. part of his arc is learning to admit to others and himself when he’s wrong. his ego, his stubbornness, his selfishness---it deters him from the things he realizes too late that he wants most (beatriz’s love and trust back). 

gaslighting arc is so important for both of them bc it’s them at their worst, its betty’s knowledge of him, it’s his knowledge of her bc he knows something’s wrong. he knows this isn’t her. but he doesn’t want to look too closely at her actions and the why of it. it’s so much easier to believe that he could be losing her to someone else than to admit that she now knows the ugliest part of him.

Heyyy does anyone know how many collection launches were done under Armando’s presidency? Are the Panamá clothes and the cheap RagTela ones from the same collection?? Or am I getting confused here?

I know there's one right after Betty starts, which is the one when Betty falls off the stage trying to find Armando. This one happens in the fashion room in Ecomoda, but this one wasn't Armando’s as he had JUST become president.

For the purposes of a little fanfiction that I'm planning, I'm trying to put a chronological order to the collections. I just don't remember which happened first, the Panamá smuggled fabrics that were lost, or the cheap RagTela ones when that company tries to bribe Betty. My objective is finding a) when Catalina firdt helps launch a collection, b) when Ecomoda's problems became SO deep that the seizure was theobly solution, and c) when Catalina helps Ecomoda for the second time.

I'm watching ysblf out of order trying to put together the timelines but i am beginning to think that was a very bad idea lol ik i could just say screw it it's my fic and the laws of time will obey me but if I get a single detail off and then U notice my brain will rot. That's how obsessive I am with my fics lol

Fanfic recommendation

Les quiero compartir un fanfic Armetty que encontré, me encantó muchísimo y me di cuenta que no tiene tantos votos como merece. La historia está en Wattpad y son básicamente historias cortas basadas en el soundtrack de YSBLF. Está super bien narrada, en general no tiene faltas de ortografía aunque hay un par, pero no son recurrentes asi que supongo que es porque no tiene activado el auto corrector y pues se le pasan algunas palabras. Está super mega mega mega hermosa, en especial la segunda historia es super linda y es muy fiel a los personajes originales de Gaitán. La única critica que tengo es que usa mucho la terminación “tica” o “tico” (ej. chiquitico), supongo que es porque en la novela se utiliza pero acá se siente muy forzado a veces. Anyway es el mejor fic que he encontrado y si les gustan mucho las cosas tiernas y las historias largas, pero no pesadas se las recomiendo al 100%

Ok my sins are keeping me up late at night so of course I'm going to post about ysblf. I am not a fic writer, actually I'm not a writer of any kind other than bad, but I really wish I could come up with a storyline in which Armando and Betty develop a somewhat healthy relationship, or at least one in which they get together without having gone through the ordeal of seducing/getting used. I will love reading your ideas, even fanfic recs if you know any. My own theory will be in the tags

#I THINK it could be possible for Betty and Armando to get together in a normal-ish way because #In the small period of time before Mario gets into Armando's head and convinces him he has to seduce Betty to keep the company safe #During that time Armando and Betty had something pretty sweet going on #Of course I think getting anywhere near romantic would've taken much longer than it does in the soap #But I think they could've eventually gotten there #BECAUSE Armando's and Betty's relationship was really nice #It was quite damped in inequalities tho #So I think in this alternative narrative the first step would be to get them to stand on the same grounds #Even the situation #So help Betty get more confidence and get the career she had always wanted #And help Armando break away from his unhealthy relationships and bad influences and help him be bold #Maybe then Armando starts to see Betty with longing eyes #And maybe Betty tries to go out with other people #To learn a lil about relationships and learn to stand up for herself MAYBE #And MAYBE then Armando realizes he feels jealous #Which he wouldn't want to admit not because Betty used to be an “uggo” but because he's always seen her as this sweet angel of a person #And MAYBE he goes on a personal quest to find himself because MAYBE he starts wondering wether he could ever be with someone like Betty #Could he ever be with someone so honest kind intelligent knowgeable innocent loyal yada yada basically so perfect when he is such a torment #That has been a cheater and what not #But then I need something to happen so he decides he wants to try to become the man Betty deserves #(which is what he does in the original story teehee) #And I don't know what that could be #But yeah I think so far we could get pretty cute scenes of them bonding #Armando being proud of Betty seeing her grow up and treat herself better #Scenes of Betty doing things she's scared of and then getting that reassurance knowing she's always been capable of those things #And our beloved scenes of tortured Armando #But then what is gonna push Armando to decide he wants to be good for Betty #I don't know if I want it to be jealousy #MAYBE it'll be some situation in which he realizes he has to fight for her or he'll loose her forever #Meanwhile for Betty

I always wonder what it would've been like if Betty chose Michel. If she would regret it. If she would still end up with Armando.

Tbh I can’t see it! I’ve tried reading BxMD fanfics but I always drop them cause I can’t see them ever being an item. Betty was never romantically interested in Michel and he was always pushy, doing things that made Betty uncomfortable. I’ll never forget how he tried kissing her, she was so uncomfortable! I’m surprised they continued being good friends cause if I were her I would’ve kept my distance 😬

I do remember reading a fic where they both end up married with a child. It was a good marriage since they had a great friendship and she loved her child but deep down she did regret her decision of not getting back together with Armando. The love she had for Armando was one of a kind and knew she would never be able to love anyone the same way. It was a sad ending, she loved her family but yearned for her lost love.

Whenever I think about Betty and Michel together I always think about that fic. I just feel like this pair would never work and tbh for me there’s no other pair than Betty x Armando. They’re soulmates they’re meant to be. I don’t think they’ll be able to love others the way they love each other. Even if they didn’t end up together at the end of the series I feel like they’ll reunite years later.
