Gurnaz hadn’t gone this long without talking to Viraj since those initial days of casual conversation following that wedding they both attended. It felt like something was missing from her day. Not being able to just say good morning and that she hoped he had a good day had impacted her mood drastically. Trying to make other couples’ dreams come true while her own love life was falling apart was growing to be more and more difficult by the day. Gurnaz did her absolute best to remain professional about her work, but god it was so hard being happy for other people when you yourself were miserable. The guilt really set it when she realized she was finding herself unfocused on her own brother’s wedding.

Instead of thinking of what color palette they wanted for their ceremonies or who they wanted included in the bridal party, Gurnaz kept reeling over the fact that Raghav hated a man she had deep feelings for. She was here helping facilitate his dream wedding with the woman he loved while he was essentially standing in the way of her and any potential future she might have with Viraj. It was… unfair. 

“Gurnaz? Tu theek hai? Did you even hear what I said?” Sahej’s chipper voice on her iPad snapped her out of her spiraling. She was brought back to reality and the fact that she was in Raghav and Zaara’s flat, planning the themes for their pre wedding events. “Kya?” she snapped at the middle Arora child, her brother eyeing her strangely for her curt response. “Kuch nahin…” 

Raghav shared that moment with the other man, “Gurnaz, if you’re tired we can do this another time, na? I know you’re doing a lot right now. It’s okay” She huffed and shook her head, “No no. Let’s keep this going. I don’t want to waste any time getting things up off the ground. I have to call a million different people tomorrow so I can extend my stay in Mumbai and then there’s the decorators. I don’t have time this week to come back.” Nawab seemed to sense her stress and plopped himself down beside her, his furry head on her lap while they worked. 

Raghav might have been on cloud nine planning this wedding with Zaara and getting his little sister to help. Still, he could tell that something was bothering his sibling and eventually stopped all wedding talk to turn the attention on her. “Okay, time out. Are you okay?” 

What should she do? Answer truthfully or lie? Lie. Definitely lie. “I’m fine.” 

“You’re lying.”

So much for that. 

“Don’t worry about it, bhaiya. Bas aise hi. There’s a lot going on.” “What do you mean, ‘aise hi’? Come on. Tell us. We’re here for you too, you know.” 

Gurnaz bit her lip, looking between Raghav and Zaara and her brother Sahej who was still with them via FaceTime. 

“Okay…” she started cautiously, “But you brought this upon yourself. I… was dating someone aur humara break up ho gaya.” 

She could see the looks of shock and intrigue on their faces. Her brothers were curious of course, wanting to know who it was so they could decide whether they approved or not even if they did split up. 

“Kaun?” “Hum jaante hai usse?” “Oh my god, let the girl speak,” Zaara piped up, “Go on.” 

She should have stopped there and just lied, but her brother probably would have seen through that too. 

“Haan, tum dono jaante ho usse. He’s… actually an actor.” 

She could hear the laugh from the iPad. “Kya?! Kaun hai?!” Sahej choked out. 

“That’s the thing… It’s…” Don’t do it. “It’s Viraj.” 

There was a really long moment of silence as the couple before her tried to process what she just said, but of course it was Raghav who reacted first. 

“Very funny. This is because of what we said the other night, isn’t it? You’re trying to get us to stop asking who he is.”

“No bhaiya. I’m not… Viraj and I have been dating for the last six months. Or… at least we were. It’s over now.”

Gurnaz couldn’t help the way she sounded so dejected at that. She knew what he did, but he had changed. Viraj told her that. He showed her that. 

“Tu pagal ho gayi hai?!” came the outburst from Raghav. “You know what he did to me right? To Vicky?” 

“Chillah kyun rahe ho tum?” Gurnaz responded, her Punjabi blood encouraging her to raise her voice along with him. 

 “You could literally date ANY GUY you want and you were dating HIM?!” he exclaimed, standing from his seat and scoffing at her.

“I knew you’d react this way, but maybe you need to get your ears checked.” Gurnaz slammed her binder shut and stood as well. “We. Broke. Up. So go ahead. You can fucking be happy now. You don’t have to deal with him now. Now if you don’t mind me, I have a ton of work to do so I’m leaving.”

Her eyes began to sting with tears as she gathered her things and quickly said bye to Sahej bhaiya before ending the video call. 

“S-Sorry bhabi. I’ll call tomorrow.” Gurnaz felt horrible for ruining their evening, but it was also a relief to have it out there now. 

She could hear the muffled tone of Raghav’s raised voice through the door, the sound fading out as she got closer and closer to the elevator. She forced herself to keep it together just long enough to get into the back of her car and order the driver to take her to her hotel.

Veer-Zaara (Hindi pronunciation: [ʋiːr zaːraː]) is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language period romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra and produced by him and his son Aditya Chopra. It stars Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta as the eponymous star-crossed lovers; Veer is an Indian Air Force pilot and Zaara is the daughter of a Pakistani politician. Veer is imprisoned on false charges, and a young Pakistani lawyer played by Rani Mukerji fights his case. Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Divya Dutta, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher play supporting roles.

In 2004, the Government of Pakistan decides to review unsolved cases pertaining to Indian prisoners as a goodwill gesture. Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), a budding Pakistani lawyer, is given prisoner 786's defense as her first case. The prisoner has not spoken to anyone for 22 years. After addressing him by his name, Veer Pratap Singh (Shah Rukh Khan), Veer opens up to Saamiya and narrates his story.

Zaara Haayat Khan (Preity Zinta) is a lively Pakistani woman whose family is of political background and high standing in Lahore. Zaara's Sikh governess (whom she addresses as her grandmother) Bebe (Zohra Sehgal) asks Zaara to scatter her ashes in the Sutlej river among her ancestors as her last wish. While traveling to India, Zaara's bus meets with an accident. Veer, an Indian Air Force pilot, rescues her and she completes Bebe's final rites. Veer convinces Zaara to return with him to his village to spend a day together on account of Lohri. Zaara meets Veer's uncle Choudhary Sumer (Amitabh Bachchan) and his aunt Saraswati (Hema Malini). Veer realises that he is falling in love with Zaara.

The next day, Veer takes Zaara to the train station for her train back to Lahore, planning to confess. However, he ends up meeting Zaara's fiancé Raza Sharazi (Manoj Bajpayee). Before she leaves, he confesses his love to her, accepting that they cannot be together. Zaara boards in silence and bids him goodbye; both believe they will never meet again.

Back home in Pakistan, Zaara realises she too is in love with Veer but that she must keep her family's honour and marry Raza, a wedding that will further the political career of her father Jehangir (Boman Irani). Seeing Zaara breaking down, her maid and friend Shabbo (Divya Dutta), calls Veer, asking him to take Zaara away before her wedding. Veer quits the Indian Air Force and travels to Pakistan. When he arrives, Zaara runs into his arms in tears, causing her father to fall sick in shock. Mariyam begs Veer to leave Zaara because Jehangir's high-profile reputation and health will be ruined if news gets out that Zaara is in love with an Indian. Veer respects this request and decides to leave but Raza, outraged by the shame Zaara has brought upon him, has him wrongly imprisoned on charges of being an Indian spy. Meanwhile, the bus Veer was supposed to be on going back to India falls off a cliff, killing all the passengers. When Veer hears this in jail, he believes the amulet Zaara's mother gave him is what protected his life.

Veer requests Saamiya not to mention either Zaara or her family whilst fighting the case, believing Zaara is happily married by now and he will only ruin her life. Due to this, Saamiya decides to cross the border and find someone in Veer's village who can prove his true identity. In Veer's village, she is shocked to meet Zaara and Shabbo instead. Zaara had thought that Veer died on the bus accident 22 years ago. After news of his death, she broke off the marriage with Raza, and her father agreed, getting them divorced himself. Afterward, Zaara and Shabbo left Pakistan and settled in India, in Veer's village, so that Zaara could keep Veer's dream of running a girl's school alive. Saamiya takes Zaara back to Pakistan, and she shares an emotional reunion with Veer. Her statement and evidence proves Veer's innocence and the judge frees him, apologising on behalf of Pakistan. Veer and Zaara, finally reunited, get married, say goodbye to Saamiya at the Wagah border crossing, and return to their village, living happily.

Kabir comes to police station. Shahbaz calls his man and says you sent same man to Zara and Kabir recognized him. Kabir says to inspector that I want to know the truth. Inspector checks picture of man who shot Zara and its same man. Inspector says I will make him tell truth. Inspector calls everyone there and asks goon why you shot Zara? Man says I was given contract by Rizwan Siddiqui, I tried to kill her again because I failed last time, her security was high after that so I attacked her after one year. Kabir is angry but Zara stops him. Goon says nobody is involved other than Rizwan. Flashback shows how Shahbaz gave this story to goon and how goon sent that message to to jailed hitman via tea seller. Flashback ends. Inspector says to Kabir that shooter will remain in jail, Zara is safe. Shahbaz meets his head goon and says Kabir shouldnt meet Maqbool (hitman), goon says dont worry. Kabir says to inspector that keep Maqbool in custody, he cant run as Zara’s life is in danger. Zara hears it and smiles.Zara comes out of station, Kabir hugs her. Shahbaz sees it and thinks Zara wont be safe next time. PRECAP- Kabir sees head goon about to kill Maqbool. Goon says that you are no longer needed by our boss. For once things seemed to be going on track for Raghav. News spread like wildfire that he and Vikram had been seen coming out of the Dharma production offices that first morning and ever since then he had been questioned as to what that was regarding. Everyone knew that he and the other man had bad blood which was why they were all so damn curious as to what had happened behind closed doors that day. Raghav had kept his mouth shut, knowing that at any point in time any wrong phrased sentence could ruin everything and thankfully it seemed like Vikram also kept things under wraps despite what he’d admitted in that boardroom that day. They were simply waiting for the okay now to talk about the project with the media and to gauge the reaction with the public. 

The film launch was the perfect occasion to do just that and that’s where Raghav was this evening. There was an exciting electricity in the air as the buzz of the press in the other room awaited them all. This wasn’t anyone’s first time doing this and even though Raghav had done this so many times before already he couldn’t believe how anxious he was for the questioning from the press. Everyone knew what a big deal it was that he and Vikram were coming back together for a movie. Hell even Chayya, their closest and oldest friend since they embarked on this journey, was shocked to hear that the two young man had agreed to sign on to the film. And now that news was out and all the contracts were finalized there was no backing out. Come hell or high water this movie was happening. 

And so here they were Raghav, Vikram, Chayya the original trio that set foot into the industry together once again sharing the screen time. But they weren’t alone in this. No, they were joined by a fourth cast member: Zaara Siddiqui. Raghav wondered how she agreed to do this movie, but then again when he thought of her filmography this type of movie was right up her alley… That and Rahul was just really good at pitching his movies. The fact that he was personally directing this one must have given her some reassurance. Nothing was going to slip past him. He had always wanted to work with her and now he was. There was a tiny part of him that was almost jealous of Vikram… “Chalo, everyone ready?” Rahul asked, the question only making Raghav already erratic heartbeat thump faster.

We were so glad to see you walking out of the hospital yourself, hopefully your recovery is going well? Another question was in regards to your companion leaving the hospital. Eyewitnesses say it was indeed Zaara Siddiqui who not only walked out with you when you were discharged, but hospital staff claim that she was the one who stayed with you overnight? You've previously claimed a stance of friendship only between the two of you--would you like to change that statement now?

“Thank you so much for your concern first and foremost. All the love and support that’s been pouring in from everyone has been overwhelming to say the least. It’s definitely put a smile on my face during this time as the doctors have basically told me to stay put. Reading all the kind messages and “get well soon” wishes always brightens my day. 

As for the other thing… Haan, I’d like to make it official that Zaara and I are in a relationship. She’s been an incredible support to me not just now, but ever since we met on the sets of Ikhtiyaar and became friends. I hope you understand that we’d like to enjoy our privacy at this time as I continue to heal from my injuries and move forward from this incident. Thank you.”
